So why'd they make ushoran into a pedo
>>98580687Nah AOS fixed him, that was Ushorann in his 20's this is Ushorann in his... Uhhh, 2000's? what the fuck is the time gap here.
I have a dumb question that probably doesn't have a known answer: Do GW get stores that carry their stock? Or do they only use 1st party sales for tracking interest etc
>>98580676What are people's hopes for the rumour dwarf faction coming this year?
>>98580695You worded this very weirdly.A) Yes, GW does have physical stores that has their stockB) No,GW can't realy track sells from stores that aren't their own
>>98580701Apologies for the poor wording. I guess they can technically measure it from re-stock requests? Hm. I want the discount but I also want GW to know I care about the range and don't want them abandoned.
>>98580705As politely as I can put it, you and anyone else buying whatever will likely have almost no input on what stays or goes.
>>98580705If you post your army online and attend torunaments wit it thas also opularity data.I doubt GW only monitors 1st party sells when they don't sell even half of the global minis directly to people
>>98580687Because he comes from desert people.
>>98580691>what the fuck is the time gap here.At least a few 1000s of activ existance, but passively it could be millions. It's been like a 1000 years since Sigmar vs Archaon fight and 300 since Khul vs Vandus
What if they made more mortarchs, and also death got a new faction, and it was uhhhh pirates
>>98580919
>>98580924Would a scout be favored by khorne if he didn't shed blood himself but led warbands to greater bloodshed? Like he pointed in a direction and said "fightin's that-a-way" and Khorne was like "yooooo let's fucking go dude, have a buff on me"
>>98580928The fat whip guy's gift is leadership. He pushes people twards bloodshed
>>98580919The next undead faction should be frankenzombies, obviously; vampirates are lame because vampires are lame and because aos doesn't have a designated carribbean themepark.
>>98580919Reanimated corpse of Teclis, the new Mortarch of Magic, any day now. He'll have electro zombies and other wierd mad science stuff becuase he's now cold intelect freed from morality that stayed with his soul
>>98580948>Reanimated corpse of TeclisYou're basically a primarchtranny if you propose stuff like this.
>>98580952What other plot hook would you derive from his illness and plan to become a hologram? He just keeps his remains in his attic?
>>98580952A what
What would your ideal version of an Age of Sigmar video game look like /aosg/?
>>98580962Certainly not making an elf the faction leader of an undead faction to satisfy some fetish for capeshit lore twists. The illness is pointless, it exists exclusively so that their confrontation could PRETEND to have had consequences, but it doesn't need consequences, this is a setting, you don't kill the character, you don't make a duplicate, you don't chop up a character to spread it thin in multiple places where it doesn't belong.

>>98580996It relesed mid way through 2e, so yes, they would have already worked on it before that
>>98581004Huh I thought it was more recent, after the StD refresh and such He must be proud of his rare collection compared to the Boss Stompas with their tacky Gitmob and Thunderstrike slop
>>98580962They literally only introduced it because someone noticed Teclis wasn't a carbon copy of his WHF character who was sickly AoS is often just pure WHF fanwank to it's own detriment
>>98580999No, fuck off back to your HH fanfictions.
>>98581013They introduced it as a grimderp epilogue to the soul wars because good guys winning wihtout some kind of sinister imlication for the future isn't GW style
>>98581023That's when it was introduced not why. Please tell me how Morathi and Malerion actually being evil instead of allies to Order was to further the narrative of AoS and not just recycling WHF
>>98580985>stormcast helldivers >oldschool god of war, but with gotrek>soulbound CRPG with procedurally generated wildernesses, and extreme race selection and character customisation>dispatch gameplay loop, but you're managing armies across all maps of the realms we have to deal with huge crises

>>98580985I'm currently playing 40K Rogue Trader so I'd love to see a similar RPG for AOS.A story based on you being a chaos guy on the Path to Glory could be really cool and give you big upgrades between the acts of the game and give some neat choices to serve the different Gods or go non aligned. Would also lead to interesting variety for your party, different chaos loyalists, Skaven have enough variety they could stick in a rat to fill any niche, or a dude from any other race could just be falling to chaos...
>>98581025Order isn't necessarily just good guys. Fish elves raid everyone and steal souls.I think the rule of Order is mostly that they are more interested in building their own cities rather than smashing others (Destruction), don't worship the chaos Gods (Chaos), and don't serve Nagash (Death)

>>98581346I just want Rangers fleshed out. I think it's a given because Fyreslayers basically have Irondrakes but Rangers/Quarrellers and a ranged hero would be my dream.
>>98581375What book is Ushoran in with that sort of quote? He was a character in like two books?
>>98581375Vampires are evil and oriental so it's hardly something GW are advocating for What's weird is Ushoran isn't Ushoran in AoS, he's Abhorash or whatever isn't he? He's the vampire founder of blood knights, Bret knights, and chivalry in general is he not?
>>98581390Ushoran is Ushoran. I dunno from where you got the idea that he's not.
>>98581411Read the rest of the post? I know he's Ushoran but he is more like the other one, isn't he? If you read Ushoran's WHF material it is unrelated to AoS beyond the name
>>98581346dwarfs on horses. I absolutely cant stand the trope that dwarfs ride on boars or goats or whatever. it genuinely feels more high fantasy for them to be riding horses instead. it makes sense too, smaller guys would be lighter load for the horses making them but agile would they noti pray they avoid all wfb trash, copters, axe throwing machine, king being carried, miners. whf is crushingly generic so itll be hard to have new units that dont ape it at least a little bitbut since KO are the tech dorfs i imagine these will be mega magic duardin so perhaps a unit that specialises in creating temporary realm gates to teleport infantry across the battlefield. lel could u imaginedo we know the origins of realmgates? are they just magical manifestations or built by someone, could be cool if new duardin figure out how to construct new realmgates potentially
Just saw someone playing with kragnos.what an ugly ass model. Im convinced only waac-fags are using it.
>>98581499>do we know the origins of realmgates?frogs
>>98581386Some of the nagash origin books I think. Nagash himself is also a bit of a perv in those iirc.
>>98581499>do we know the origins of realmgates?Great plan believers will tell you they were pre-planned by the Old Ones and everything that happened was jsut part of the plan to escalate anti-Chaos life forms.Great plan doubters will tell you winds copy the design of Polar Gates the same way they copy rivers or mountains when making the 8 worlds based on Malus
>>98581499>smaller guys would be lighter load for the horses making them but agile would they notThat's the basic logic behind professional jockeys being turbo menlets, but just because it works well in the context of sports optimization doesn't mean it's practical on the battlefiled. At some point you might have the simple logistical issue of getting on the demn thing
>>98581414Nta but I don't think so, no. Ushoran isn't related to the blood knights and shit at all, the appropriate character would be vhordrai. There's also a dude called the blood dragon who may or may not be abhorash.Ushoran in AoS is all about delusion and thinking his gaggle of cannibalistic ghouls is actually a noble court of lords and ladies (though ushoran himself may actually be aware of the truth). But no it's not really the martial prowess thing that abhorash had going on in whfb.
>>98581553>At some point you might have the simple logistical issue of getting on the demn thingtrain the horse to kneel down for easy mounting bozo surely that would be possible right
>>98581553>>98581560May I offer a compromise to you gentlemen?on a more serious note, ponies might work. Shetlands are pretty damn strong animals for their size. Seems appropriate
>>98581499dwarfs aren't lighter than humans
>>98581585The Irish rode ponies to battle. There are hardly breeds comparable to some war horses.

>>98581988Twitter trend
>>98581815Seraphon look so out of place in the setting.
>>98582000They seem fine
>>98581973They should've combined the tow and aos articles from the start desu. Way more interesting to see how dwarfs evolved over 40 years from whfb ones to eventually fyreslayers and khazalids. Now they chopped that history up in two periods of 30 and 10 years. Missed opportunity The only factions to really have drastic changes in aesthetics over aos' timeline are stormies and cities really. Maybe nurgle too, to an extent.
>>98582005It's the forced split between them; it's hardly surprising. It's not like the DK model book was any different in regard to that outside of some very specific examples like the old 1998 VC Skeletons or the original Black Coach

>>98582036Either within the next few months or next year

>>98582045because I like the lizards and want to get into aos with them but I want to wait for a discount box ideally
>>98582051Well there's the current spearhead still, and you might be able to find the older carnosaur one in stores near you too.
Surely we'll get a Vs box for Dorfs Vs Chorfs? Have they ever put 100% new stuff in one for one side? I can only think of a few new items thrown in
>>98582097Ohhh nvm forget City of Ash
>>98582097Maybe if they want to do another cities of ash. Or maybe make a new mini game like for the new gargants.
>>98582000I am a lizard fanboy and I agree: the aztec theme only makes sense in a setting with its own south america.During the end times I remember a rumor saying that lizardmen would be one of the factions to be removed and replaced by a race of dragonborn, in hindsight it was probably coming from a cursory view of their first battletome's fluff and its focus on dracothion, and arguably it would have fit the setting way way better if all old lizardmen models were removed and the whole faction was replaced by dragonmen under dracothion, without dinosaurs and aztec gubbins, but they wouldn't have been lizardmen, and I wouldn't have liked them, as many others, so it's fortunate they persevered out of popular demand in spite of the setting's demands.
>>98582093>>98582051different anon but i would highly recommend not starting with the new spearhead. its a very beginner un-friendly box. it has no big wow factor units, its full of a bunch of weird techy pieces, and a few of its units dont do much on the table. saurus and hunters are both good, but you would be better served tracking down the older spearhead with the carno and just getting a box of hunters separately i think. idk about your region but i just checked google shopping and there are still several listings for the old one near me at the usual price with free shipping, so thats what i'd look for as a starting point. also if trolltrader ships to your region, they have slann, kroxigors, and saurus sprues at a good price if you dont mind waiting a few weeks for shipping.
>>98582097They barely do VS boxes now. They sell bad compared ot battleforces and other 1 army products
>>98582136City of Ash was highlighted as particularly profitable
>>98582114there's nothing saying the setting cant/doesnt have a mesoamerican area somewhere, its got steampunk floating cities, mesopotamian ziggurats, european castle and moats, floating asian zen gardens, hookah and rug filled persian lounges, nordic lodges, egyptian pyramids of the dead, etc etc etcthe setting has everything, there's definitely room for the seraphon to carve out a region of aztec themed civilization for themselves, perhaps even having other local races adopt their customs and cultures since the seraphon have now been there for centuries, possibly even millenia. people often forget the world of aos isnt new to the people in it, its been thousands of years since the age of myth when it was created, granted in their defense sometimes it feels like the studio writers (except soulbound) forget this too.
>>98580985Literally just give me the same Vermintide style game but with more playable characters/factions complete with cool maps and weapons and I’ll be set. Alternatively make it multiplayer and give us a BF wide open map game with mounts and stuff and I’ll be satisfied
>>98582114Dracothion's dragonborn should be a subrange inside the stormcasts book.
>>98582164>there's nothing saying the setting cant/doesnt have a mesoamerican area somewhereYou don't get the issue, the problem is not that there CAN'T be a mesoamerica, but that there ISN'T a mesoamerica, and it's inarguable that nothing says that there is a mesoamerica as of now. the lizards bring their own ecosystem, but that only makes them environmental tumors in a setting rather than something that fits within its natural worldbuilding seamlessly.Them being potentially anywhere is the same as nowhere being their actual place.
why are wizards so fucking bad this edition?giant 300pt sorcerer supreme in an army renowned for its sorcery? best i can do is 1 cast no bonuses. god damn gobsprakk who supposedly is so good at magic he bested a lord of change, nailed its hand to his staff and somehow kept it from dematerializing, is only 2 cast no bonus. skragrott lost his casting bonuses from previous editionsspell lores across the board down to 3 spells, most wizards no longer get unique warscroll spellsare they trying to write magic out of the game or something? what is going on? been playing the game since 1st edition and the anti-magic trend in 4th edition feels really drastic
>>98582205>but that only makes them environmental tumors in a setting rather than something that fits within its natural worldbuilding seamlessly.Right, lets ignore blades of khorne and tzeentch then...
The problem is that the Seraphon dinosaurs are literally just that...dinosaurs. There's nothing vaguely fantasy about them, they're just straight copy-pasted from IRL dinosaurs. So it's jarring to see them. GW just can't design interesting original lizards for their life - just look at the new Exodites sculpts. Incredibly safe for what should be "dinos in space".
>>98582216both exodites and lizardmen have its roots to a decade of wargaming when the point wasn't originality but hobby friendliness>yes, literally just slap eldar/lizardmen models onto a dinosaur toy if you want that was the idea
>>98582216‘occhi sculpt when
>>98582232cant make that otherwise it would be raped.
>>98582216Kind of true but they do have stuff like magic lasers mounted on the backs of the Bastiladons, so there’s clearly an attempt being made
>>98582215If this is some schizophrenic pretence of a point about extremely vague and tangential mesoamerican influences in a handful of those ranges I'm simply not going to entertain a conversation with you, because it's clear you're not getting the point of the discussion.
>>98582232SoB are made in the same scale as anime figures
>>98582241thank you for your concession.
>>98582205> but that only makes them environmental tumors in a setting rather than something that fits within its natural worldbuilding ah, so you mean exactly like they were in warhammer fantasy too?they were space aliens in fantasy as well, their culture was unnatural to the humans of the setting, it came from their old outer space gods not from human influences, and the ecosystem and denizens of lustrias jungles were also artifically spawned by the old ones and their slann who were so powerful at geomancy they are described as being able to literally move mountains with a thought. this has always been their shtick
>>98582212because GW keeps gutting AoS in terms of fluff representation to appease the turnament crowd that slurps up anything regardless. Do we really have to post the mangler squigs again? Or mention the 8 generic spell lores with 6 spells each from 2nd Ed?
>>98582279>ah, so you mean exactly like they were in warhammer fantasy too?No, in fantasy the mesoamerican theme or the dinosaur element are not alien features, they are logical extensions of the idea of having a faction to contrast the not!europeans exploring the new world jungles. The alien element of fantasy lizardmen itself is not an out of place thing either because it all stems from the zeitgeist of the ancient aliens conspiracy stuff which have quite a few links to mesoamericans. It's all written and following in a very organic fashion which is why it ends up feeling so fitting.
>>98582212>are they trying to write magic out of the game or something? They probably flirted with the idea. Don't forget that 10th edition 40K, the forerunner to 4Es simplification did, in fact, throw out their magic system entirely. Modern 40K doesn't have either psychic powers or prayers anymore.
>>98582348>Modern 40K doesn't have either psychic powers or prayers anymore.NTA. You say that, but the new Ork codex just reintroduced psyker levels and spells/abilities in a way I kind of don’t mind. If I’m reading it right, even if you roll a 1 your ability still goes off but you’re just battleshocked.
>>98582216>bocchi the /wfg/go back
>>98582312> it all stems from the zeitgeist of the ancient aliens conspiracy stuff which have quite a few links to mesoamericans.and yet for some reason when aos has them be the ancient aliens, landing and setting up dummy temples for people to plunder its bad because......????none of your arguments hold water, because none of the logic that applies to whfb lizardmen cant also apply to aos seraphon for any reason other than aos badthey land, terraform lustria, set up hidden temples and ancient aliens in the old world? goodthey land, terraform some part of the mortal realms, set up hidden temples and ancient aliens in age of sigmar? bad

Good for them.>>98582136>>98582158Maybe city of ash is an indication of things to come. Instead of repackaging older sculpts with like 1 new hero each, these versus boxes can be new release waves in and of themselves, also functioning as spearheads. I can see it taking off. Would be a great way to introduce some smaller sized release wave for certain factions that desperately need them too. Imagine if idoneth got even a single spearhead worth of new units.
>>98582114>the aztec theme only makes sense in a setting with its own south america.>>aztec theme>>south americaRegardless, I disagree. I find the starship thing fits them quite well. >>98582205Why is this a problem? It's their thing, they reshape the world according to their (or their masters') will.
>>98582469>its bad because......????you still don't get the pointin fantasy the not!europeans sailed west and obviously found not!south america because it's obvious for the new world to be west of the old world and for roughly-15th-century-inspired-humans to have a discovery, exploration and conquest of that new world.and it's obvious for south america to have equatorial jungles as it's obvious for it to have mesoamericans because it's south america and also for the jungle to have dinosaurs and the mesoamericans to be dinosaurs because it's a fantasy jungle and it's obvious for lizards to be in there.and, again, it's obvious for the mesoamericans to have things related to ancient aliens because that's a common trope for them after the popularisation of the theory.you don't have any of the above organic worldbuilding with aos; the setting has got ancient alien mesoamerican lizardmen with dinosaurs because the previous setting had them, that's it.
>>98582535Nta but why would this be a problem for seraphon specifically? Why do they only work if they have a not!middleamerica? Like idoneth have very clear greek influences (via atlantis) but I don't think I've ever heard anyone make the case that they don't work because there's not a Peloponessia region or whatever. Same for, say, babylonian chaos dwarfs or arabian slaanesh. You've touched on the mesoamerica/ancient aliens connection yourself, which lends itself nicely to the ancient precursor race trope which the seraphon embody (in a sense).Yes, seraphon are different to lizardmen. But lizardmen aren't the only way you can do pseudoaztec dinosaurs people.
>>98582593>Nta but why would this be a problem for seraphon specifically?Because it's a faction identity that emerges from a specific geographical+cultural location. It's a themepark faction, as were tomb kings, as would be cathay.Factions that exist in a vacuum, like skaven, don't have these issues, and factions like the empire and cities of sigmar get around the issue because medieval+european is the standard in the wider fantasy zeitgeist.idoneth are not as greek as lizardmen are mesoanerican.Idoneth don't need a greek sea to be at home, they just need the sea, being an undersea faction already carries the atlantis theme, and seas can be anywhere with no issue, meanwhile the jungle environment is not enough to carry the mesoamerican one on its own and lizardmen need to force the existence of the jungles because the setting doesn't organically have spots where it's logical for them to be.
>>98582097I want Chuardin vs. Clan Skryre
>>98582296does GW actually cater to tourneyfags?i dont think they even make up 1% of the hobby, why would GW give a shit about them?
>>98582741>does GW actually cater to tourneyfags?Yes, which is why the state of both 40k and AoS is in the dumpster
>>98582741Yeah, they release day 1 faqs and quarterly adjustments. It's just data GW can orient around and they make more money any time they double down on it so
>>98582664Mhyea, agree to disagree I guess. I think the magitek + lizard stuff sets them apart from actual aztecs enough for me not to find it jarring, in the same way it would be for Cathay for example. I think the "coming down from space" stuff works well to integrate them into the setting.if the rumours are true you might get your wish though
>>98582114>the aztec theme only makes sense in a setting with its own south americaThis is possibly the dumbest take I've ever seen. There's no reason why the Mesoamerican look has to reside anywhere in particular on your fantasy map. Plus there's continuity from Fantasy into AOS. The Lizardmen were design by the Old Ones to be this way because of where their home base was located in the previous world. Things aren't going to change just because the world is gone because they lack the means to change the Old One's designs. That's why the interior of temple ships and places they settle permanently come to resemble Old Lustria. It's what they were made for and what's comfortable for them.
>>98582593>arabian slaanesh.Huh? Elaborate
TOW will be Aztec and AoS sci-fi
>>98582767headscarves, belly dancers, silk, etc HoS is mostly orientalist shit
>>98582770TOW lizardmen will revert back to frogs to fit in with brets. AOS will continue having magitech seraphon with a dash of divinity in them.
>>98582760>There's no reason why the Mesoamerican look has to reside anywhere in particular on your fantasy map.The reason is the historical precedent: it can be anywhere else, but anywhere else is a subversion of expectations. You can have a generic fantasy setting with a generic fantasy desert in the south populated by a generic japanese faction, but that doesn't magically make it good, or fitting, it makes it unexpected, as in against expectations, meeting expectations can be good, especially when the point of fantasy miniatures was meeting the already existing demands for miniatures for already existing tropes.

i see it mentioned a lot, but what do people dislike about 4th edition listbuilding? i started collecting and painting in 3rd but i never played a proper game until 4th edition.the only things i've really noticed is that grand alliances don't really matter at all anymore, and since having fewer drops is ideal, most people just run two regiments and just go with whatever spam they can to fit that in
>>98583204>>98583125>>98583213i think you guys are seeing what you want to see…
>>98583595yeah, I saw nagash, not a dick
>>98583563Not much in the way of options for units and heroes. Theres more options in OPR, even more in TOW
>>98582216What? They don't even look like irl dinos. The Skinks look more like irl lizards than the rest of the Seraphon. What holds back from doing narratives with them is the fact they don't really speak.
>>98583639OPR has more options than tow just due to the nature that the game supports you making your own shit. I frankly dislike both games, but I do think opr has *some* ideas right. Its just a shame the community is both isolated online and is dumb as fucking rocks.
>>98583563Before 4th you only had the restrictions of >6 heroes max >3 battleline minimum Battleline was core units but certain general picks or subfactions unlocked more. Flexible system, with battalions layering on top for optional rewards if you indulge in restrictions (though these costs points in 2nd) The issue with 4th is the meta game like you said and people tend to structure it top down not bottom up so it feels restrictive.>I want to play X so I have to take Y hero >I want to play Y but I can only take X and Z in that regiment which I don't want
>>98581362Moles or badgers.
>>98583563a lot of little stuff that adds up- regiments as a system force you to build small organizations of guys, often with restrictions on who goes in them, but offers no benefits for doing so. the game rarely ever positively benefits regiment structures, its just a further restriction that didnt used to be in the game-subfactions reduced from a whole page with traits, artifacts and rules each down to a single sentence, often copy and pasted between armies.-once per (army) rule makes it so putting more than one unit of anything in your list is often a bad choice-fewer artifacts, traits, smaller spell lores, just overall less options-allies, coalitions, and grand alliance armies removed, invalidating a lot of peoples collections and replaced them with regiments of renown, small prebuilt unit selections. essentially no list building choice-points went up again 2 editions in a row, making armies overall very small, they feel more like large skimish forces now rather than proper armies they've shrunk so much. -max unit sizes shrunk and no more max unit discounts.4th plays okay on the table, but a lot of the player choice and agency has been removed from the game or heavily disincentivized, and everything has been shuffled into neat little walled gardens for ease of balance and marketing
>>98583563The restrictions imposed on what heroes can run what units are extremely limiting in factions with already small rosters. It turns from running an army into piloting a “build”. There’s also no benefit to following these restrictions. In an anecdotal sense, my army stopped feeling like MY army. This on top of the ass backwards methodology of using points on enhancements/subfactions as punishment for taking the 1 good option GW manages to write for the army.
>>98583732>my army stopped feeling like MY army.I think thats kinda my issue with it, yeah.
>>98583732Lack of (good) artifacts etc doesn't help with this either.
this image really puts it into perspective. here is the difference between a subfaction in a previous edition, vs a subfaction after the 4th edition rework of the game.
>>985835632nd Edition had the best list building. It wasnt perfect, but it was very good.
working on a homebrew of gargants, I dont have the finer details cut out for them just yet but I think I have the general just of them down. They're giants who, in hopes of wanting to expedite their general growth, ventured to ghyrahn, ate a portion of the nevergreen mountains, where in the process got them to grow, but with the caveat that they also have cumbersome floral like mutations. Things I plan to add are -This new tribes Name-The tribes relationship with hysh, they're gonna be plant giants, gotta focus on that photosynthesis relationship I suppose. -also the tribes relationship with gitmob and other gargants-find out how cities and khadrons can capitalize off of them. Currently reading the StD battletome, but confused by a tidbit of lore.It mentions that most mortals that go down the path of glory end up in ruin of some kind with very very few attaining actual daemonhood.Archeon is written as still mortal.. which confuses me. Hasn't he been around for thousands of years since he was razing worlds outside of the mortal realms before the age of chaos? how is he still alive?is it assumed the chaos gods give him life extension boons?
>>98584957>how is he still alive? He has multiple gifts, artifacts, and boons that keeps his hate for gods going
>>98584957He's as close to ascending as he can be without actually doing so. All the gods want him to pick them, so they'll dangle all sorts of boons in his face alongside whatever they'll give up directly. He's a very desirable employee and 4 places are trying to bribe him into employment (and damnation, most likely). It's a power-play on his part. Immortality is probably on the extremely low end of boons, honestly. Especially for a dude that blew up WHFB.

>>98585715because its the future. its several thousand years after the events of fantasy. things progress over time
>>98585761Well yes but everyone started from scratch after Sigmar & the alliance of gods shaped the mortal realms to be livable. So it's not like they all progressed naturally. The Lizardmen/Seraphon were just always like this.
>>98585238i dont think armies need to be 40k big, where gods are 300pts and you can troops with 15 special weapons for 6 or 7 pts a model, but the 3rd edition crunch was enough, they didnt need to crunch it again in 4th. the problem is, on top of just from an aesthetics and collector point of the army not looking like a full army anymore, the fewer units there are in a given army, the more impactful each unit becomes, and thus also compounding the more impactful stacking buffs and fight again on that unit becomes as well. when your biggest unit is 300pts, you can stack buffs on 15% of your army at once, fight with 15% of your army at once, you lose 15% of your army when it dies. but now with these big hammer units in a lot of armies pushing upwards of 500, 600pts you're talking 25%-30% of your entire army. a single unit spell can buff 30% of your army at once now, when you lose it you just lost a full third of your army, there are so many downstream consequences of downsizing the game. it makes it much much more swingy all or nothing, whereas a more spread out army is more tit for tat prolonged fights. thats also why games have gotten a lot shorter and end earlier rounds than they used to, because of this unbalancing putting the weight on these high point all or nothing plays. its like the old morathi or nagash gambit from earlier editions but everyone is doing all the time with every unit. everything is an all in 500pt bananza unit now.
>>98585761God the B-17 is so sexy. I'd kill for an airship that took direct inspiration from it.

>>98587547I appreciate how both the new battlemages emphasize how dangerous magic really is; the fire dude needs a blindfold to avoid Cyclops-ing his allies, and the death mage need the bellringers to drown out the voices of the dead lest they drive him insane.I headcanon the warforger crucible to have midas-like properties and that's why the tongs are so fuckhuge.

>>98588907It's kinda mid but 4e is much worse imo
>>98588929Meh, I don't need another mid game then. 4e will end next year, pretty soon we might see some announcements of the end edition campaign. I prefer some excitement and hope for the future then just mid for the next 3 years.
>>98588942I've personally lost hope in AoS. We've been on a slow but steady decline since peak 2e and I don't see the people that made 4e suddenly making a 5e that is enjoyable. GW needs to do a purge and get rid of everyone involved in writing rules for this edition.
>>98588570Any day now>>98588598It would be a good start
>>98588561I think they're the ugliest army GW has ever made. Other armies have had singularly awful models, but OBR as a whole just has an ugly aesthetic. I like the harvester though.
>>98589090This Anon is afraid of going to the dentist and is scared of explicedly stated Ossiarch sub theam of fun stomatology

>>98589090I agree with you OBR are genuinely an abomination from an aesthetic design POV, and not in a complementary way. In a what the fuck were they thinking way.
>>98589108Shadow of the Colossus or monster hunter type game but you’re an ironjaw in Ghur hunting large beasts
>>98589095>>98589117I like them conceptually. The idea of making super soldiers out of collected bone and them acting as tax men isn't a bad idea. I like an army of tax men. Conflict with the skeleton kingdoms fucking WHEN GW? But holy shit it's just ugly to look at. I truthfully wouldn't even use them as basing bits for dead enemies.
>>98589117they were so close to something great but they had to ruin it with manlet kings and joker faces
>>98589124inject that shit straight into my veinsanything but stormcast i beg you so sick and tired of em
>>98589090I have to agree unfortunately though I think their lore is cool. For basically every army in the game I could see myself cobble together a little force or at least a spearhead. But obr I genuinely only like mir kainan and maybe the new archers.
>>98589125>>98589129The concept has a lot of potential as this pic shows. The execution was comically possibly the worst way to do it they could have done. Just comical.
>>98589125>Conflict with the skeleton kingdoms fucking WHEN GW? when gw stops having skeletons cucked by vampires and undead as a whole cucked by nagash
You're all realy soulless. probably why OBR anger you so much, they have like 10 souls each
>>98589144Skeletons aren't cucked by vampires in AoS. There's plenty of independent Wight kingdoms.
>>98589171Barely
>>98588960the models are good, we just need some autist to homebrew a fan edition and everyone can play that, GW keeps pumping out models, nobody buys books anyways. its not like its the first time aos has had to bootstrap its own fun, the first generals handbook was adapted from a fan document
>>98588929i would rather play 4th aos over any edition of 40k, especially anything 9th+. 9th way overcomplicated the game, and 11th doubled down on that.you think battle tactics are needless tournament wank, wait until you see 40k's dispositions and what you need to do to figure out your mission and secondaries. jesus fucking christ its convoluted
>>98589171Lore aside, to which I agree with the reply stating "barely" as they are treated as anomalies in the setting; gameplay wise you're punished for not taking a vampire in your army. It used to be worse when Legion of Nagash was changed to Soulblight Gravelords, as your basic rules relied on having a vampire, now with 4th we have some shitty rules to atleast make it functional to have wights and necromancers as your sole heroes.
>>98589141>>98589139>>98589125>>98589117>>98589090I wasn’t aware people felt this way I honestly like the way they look somehow it’s a nice tribute to the Tomb King I feel. I will admit it’s mostly their lore that appeals to me though.
>>98589211>>98589171you could always just model a fancy skeleton and use the vampire lord rules for it. call it a lich or something
>>98589218Yeah, but that's lame as fuck and just encourages GW's laziness.
>>98589090There's a skeleton inside you right now.
>>98589213>look somehow it’s a nice tribute to the Tomb King I feelI wish they just did the more classic Tomb King aesthetic. Looks way cooler. Or lean into strangeness like >>98589129 linked
>>98589211A liche heri would solve a lot. In the meantime you could run one as a Necromancer I guess.
>>98589221>Making your dudes is lazy
>>98589242Anon, don't be daft for no reason.
>>98589227I liked tomb kings more when undead was just a single faction with vampire counts. After that I think they were just redundant, they could have been good as a subfaction for vcounts but not a whole army. They just tonally dont gel with me, its just kinda shallow. That and I think Settra is pretty boring. Not primarch tier boring, but hes certainly getting there. If tow ever did something like giving them some actual character I would at least be willing to give them a chance.
>>98589261>its just kinda shallowThat's genuinely an insane take, they have more character than the majority of AoS factions in terms of depth and what you can do with them.
The issue with AoS is there's a dozen fantasy games to play instead, with your AoS collection. 40k is a sunk cost fallacy beyond OPR which probably isn't appealing with his its premise is parasitic hostility
>>98589278I like kangs since I like egyptian shit but I get anon's point. They're just kind of theme park egyptians. Maybe more so than the average whfb faction. That's no problem for me, but I don't see how they have much depth.
>>9858929140k has kino editions like 4th though. Although I guess the same can be said for AoS 2e, but good luck finding someone to play that with you.
>>98589293Do you know their lore/history at all? They are one of the more fleshed out Fantasy factions with one of the bigger impacts on the setting as a whole, with the longest history outside the Lizardmen in the setting. But Lizards didn't really have recorded history, unlike the Kangz. The whole concept of Vampirism and Undeath is intrinsically linked to their history and culture.
>>98589213>it’s a nice tribute to the Tomb King I feelThey have no design language in common with the Tomb Kings at all unless you count the Morghasts as a Tomb King model.>>98589223I know. He's wet. And when he's free of his fleshy prison he'll join his brothers in the Wight Kingdoms and fight off the tax man.
>>98589291Sure, but AoS even with 4th edition is still fun enough. It's not my favorite game on the market, but It's not so bad that I need an alternative with same models.
alright, so lets say someone did make a perfect age of sigmar editionwhat would you want added? removed? changed?ppm? SvT? ToW style build a bear workshop magic items and runes? changes to wizards and spellcasting? should leadership and fleeing come back or bravery based casualties like earlier editions? what about scoring? return of realm lores and artifacts? and realm rules for missions?post any suggestions, wishlist features, features that should be removed, etc
>>98589278>in terms of depth with or without settra and nagash? Because excluding Nagash, the faction just goes nowhere. I know that supposedly the princes all have personalities of their own which makes them discount necrons, but ignoring that and pretenidng they have le potential, They're just kinda stagnant in the grand world of fantasy. If you want actual political machinations or home-brewing you're better off with vampire counts before even considering tomb kings. And Yeah I know there's lahmians and that tomb kings are capable of diplomacy, but the former proves my point about just making tomb kings a subfaction for vc, and the latter just doesnt have as much emotional pay off. Sure a tomb king can be eccentric, but why make them a tomb king to begin with. Why not just a human, which really, thats what tomb kings are, they dont even really have warped personalities like your vampire or even to an extent that a necron is. >what you can do with themThe geography of the desert is boring. The only cases where tomb kings themselves move out of the desert is when Settra is being used as a plot device to move somewhere and drags some other bitch boys with him. Or maybe when someone's exiled, which is admittedly theoretically interesting for tomb kings internally. So what ends up happneing more times than not, is you have people go and invade their tombs or whatever for treasure or xyz. Which sure, its fine once or twice, but thats basically your defacto reason to have tomb kings engage in conflict with another entity. Also their religion sucks. Im not gonna get into it but its a disservice to actual Egyptian mythology.
>>98589351Egyptian religion/myth also sucked
>>98589348There’s a lot of things I want to say but we need bigger boards first and foremost. The most likely thing that gw will also do, more likely than not, is try to sell you rules that your army already had back in maybe 2nd or third edition. It’s what they’ve been doing with 40k so far and HH and tow.
>>98589300Eh, they're connected to a lot of stuff via nagash, but that doesn't necessarily make the actual tomb kings very deep. Which again, I'm fine with, but they're hardly as layered as you seem to imply imo. They're serviceable for what they are.
>>98589312>They have no design language in common with the Tomb KingsI would say being armored skeletal warriors is close enough even if fairly surface level
>>98589426More terrain and bigger boards would be nice, a bit more love for ranged and magic as well. As it is currently, the game is just a flat surface with blobs of dudes smashing into each other and it looks and plays pretty boring because of it.
>>98589453At that point they're also the same as Vampire Counts skeleton units. Grave Guard and basic skeleton warriors are also the same and share design language. Which can be immediately recognized as not being true the moment you look at them.
>>98589312Nta but they make VERY liberal use of cartouches in their imagery which is pretty damn egyptian. Though ironically tomb kings don't use it that much, except on the sphinx model iirc.
>>98588929Still salty that 4E managed to kill the small AoS community my town had going on. 3E we were doing pretty solid with about 12 regulars. Lasted about two months with the new rules and some of the guys stopped showing up outright. The rest trickled down after repeated frustration with the rules. Cutting out flavor for tourneyfagging and tons of “roll a dice to see if you can use your rule” and “see this cool rule? Only once per game :)” rules made it boring as shit. At least the models still look nice and are fun to paint.
>>98589628you missed out on the best part!>roll a dice to see if you can use this (once per battle) ability!
>>98589748on a 3+
>>98580685And they run when Hysh comes upwith their bodies on the lineREFORGEDIn Azyr only the Stormcast survive
>>98580985Age of Sigmar dark souls. It's painfully obvious but it would genuinely work so well. >You play as a stormcast warrior>you pick your background of what you were in a past life to determine your starting class, have options to spec in to magic, ranged, melee, etc playstyles>standard action rpg fare, can pick up weapons and armor enhancements>standard dark souls style rebirth upon death mechanic, have a hollowing equivalent where you characters loses more and more of their memory on death, have to spend resources with a memorian scribe to relearn your past and regain full strength>hub area is a stormcast controlled tower in contested territory>levels/areas dedicated to specific factions. Forest for sylvaneth/seraphon, underwater level for IDK, a general destruction level and levels for the various chaos factions.>Fight a Nurgle themed boss second to last>Upon death, Sigmar takes his soul and reforges him as Tornus, who helps you in the final bossfight against "insert chaos badguy here"Would be kino
>>98589783This is actually kino.
>>98589838Shame we already had one in the works, but for whatever reason Nexon pulled out on funding so the studio working on it just kinda shelfed it.

>>98589894pretty sure it’s OC
>>98589426cyclopean stormies would be cool
>>98589748I'm still salty at how fucking ass Nagash is, universal to death but too expensive to be generally good unless you're using him in some hyper specific list, he gets 9 casts but can't attempt to recast a failed spell and instead just gets to hand out the tickle damage beam or tickle heal beam, NO RANGED PROFILE, and a ONCE PER GAME res that still doesn't surpass the "can only bring a unit back once per game rule" he's literally just the "I bring back reinforced morghasts" guy.
>>98590379You'd think a literal god would be a bit better
>>98590423He costs more than Alarielle, Morathi, and Kragnos and he does exponentially less.
>>98590423Things like this make me wish for separate warscrolls for what would be considered "actual play" and then "competitive play" where competitive play could have its shitty ass OPT(A) and 2+ D3's and let actual play have fun warscrolls where each unit is fluffier more than it is balanced. They already have separate scrolls for Spearhead, so alternate scrolls isn't a foreign concept.
>>98590379unfortunately they have to make the non tome specific gods bad because every time they dont they roll the entire game like the archaon that could fight 4 times a roundthe only exception is kragnos who's actually good, but the monkeys paw there is that every army he could attach to is bad and only becomes playable via his inclusion for the most part
>>98590427>>98590423>>98590379>erm, but he’s technically dead (in a kinda literal sense this time thanks to teclis) so it makes sense! I had fun with him and vampire dragon lord spam at the end of third, but yeah I kinda shelved him for this edition.
>>98590488>but the monkeys paw there is that every army he could attach to is bad and only becomes playable via his inclusion for the most partThis is honestly torture.
>>98590379Why would you need a ranged profile when you can dish out 9 instances of D3 mortals at 18 inches?
>>98590509the miscast WILL happen
>>98590509Once per unit
>>98590423No matter the setting that’s always been something GW has struggled with at some point or another sadly
>>98590488>archaonHe's not even a generic god model anymore! He's STD exclusive again, so it's just Nagash and Kraggy and Nagash does in fact suck.
>>98580985>>98589838I would go for a soulslike, but not starring a stormcast, they're too OP from the start. I'd instead have it focus on warcry-like warband levels. You'd be a chaos guy who the gods have given power because they want you to challenge Archaon - the power is to respawn, and absorb the souls of slain victims (like they normally do, taking the souls of their sacrifices)You would fight darkoath guys, cities guys, death guys, etc. The structure would probably benefit from a demon's souls esque structure with 7 of the realms visited in any order, and then the 8th would be the Eightpoints. I would have a DS2-esque level where you enter an area that is a chaos war camp being invaded by stormcast, where both sides are hostile to you obviously. Archaon is the final boss, where he fights you on foot. If you win, he's like "cool strength, how about you join the varanguard?" and if you accept that's your ending, ng+ gives you varanguard armour. Refuse and he fights you while riding Dorghar, insanely tough, and the chaos gods get bored of you if you die and you get a cutscene showing your soul being torn apart and it mentions that this is the 'canon' ending, but you're allowed to try and defeat him anyway and if you do you become the new everchosen, and get archaon armour for ng+>>98589871This would be my choice for stormcast as well. Shadow of war was so good, and you could have a chaos nemesis who wears your helmet as a trophy after killing you, or similar scenarios lmao
>>98590943I feel like in general a game featuring a non order faction as a protagonist could be really interesting.
