>>98615825why would I ever play combo?
>>98615825>TQI don't play combo below bracket 3. Incidental combo, maybe.
>>98615825I've outgrown combo over the past decade+ but back in the day Momir Vig toolbox combo was my main deck.
Combo is gay tho
Can I get a balance check on this? If I increase the transform cost would it be fine to add a "may play cards exiled with this creature"-type ability?>>98615825>TQI have a Gwenom deck that, if the other three dudes let me get her and Sensei's Top or Necropotence on the board and she's allowed to swing, it's usually ggs
comboggers outcustom card niggers OUT
>>98615886>>98615887>>98615889>>98615895>>98615919Fucking based>>98615904>only combofag ITT is also a custom card weebpotteryottery
>combo bad>fuck why am i losing to simic?many such cases
>TQExquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond obviously.
>>98615946>>98615919lemme have the ONE combo deckotherwise i'm on shit like baru wurms tribal or odric keywords that just hit face and hope for the best
Thirty (30) starting life is objectively superior to fourty (40)
Is repercussion + dmg wipe a combo? if your opponent has no creatures it does nothing so you don't have control over it working
>>98615955>combo bad>made up scenario nobody mentionedOk
is grand crescendo at endstep + craterhoof a combo? it's dependant on opponent not having blockers so you don't have control over it working.
>>98615995It's not, but it also isnt very interesting
>>98615984Also no
>>98615986>made up scenario nobody mentionedthe fuck do i care if someone must mention it first I AM THE ONE MENTIONING IT you retard and a lot of simic complaints go away if you pop off on their faces that's the truth
>TQ:I run the budget version of the Vapors combo because I think it's neat and each piece is good for my stax deck on their own. Not really dedicated combo deck. Another combo I use frequently is Worldgorger Dragon and Minion Reflector in my Zirilan deck.
I don't know what has me so enamored with this deck. Here's the updated Brenard sagas list now that Fenrir arrived in the mail. His missing from the deck was really riling my autism. The Nylea's Colossus jpeg is the replacement for Aurora Awakener to de-power the deck. If it doesn't arrive my friend has one he can lend me when we go to the LGS on Friday.Over 2 weeks the deck went 5-1, but all those wins stemmed from Aurora Awakener + Good King Mog playing my entire library. I don't want to win via deck vomit so I've nerfed the deck and put in a few more on-theme cards that play with moving counters around. The deck sorely lacks its vegetables. One-sided bounce wipes instead of regular board wipes. Niche removal like Yojimbo and Sundering Growth instead of generic Swords to Plowshares removal. Very low amounts of countrspells. At the same time it still feels like it "interacts" a fair amount. It can get downright oppressive once you start juggling counters and making Glen Elendra food token clones.
>>98616196This deck costs more than all my decks combined
>>98615955When I play my voltron deck I always kill the simic player first and then lose because I overplayed my hand. It's a casual format though so I don't really need the wins anyway.
>>98616225I've never found price a meaningful metric for power level. You could build a budget Magda deck for $25 and fist the average EDH player. There's an existential gulf in this deck's price tag between expensive cards I already own and the new cards I acquired to build the deck. You've got Earthcraft deployed beside Summon: Fat Chocobo. And while the expensive cards are good none of them are lynch pins to what the deck's doing. Realistically you could cut the game changers (replace Cyc Rift with a real board wipe which the deck arguably needs, Guardianship with An Offer You Can't Refuse, Enlightened Tutor with... Academy Rector which is apparently not a game changer lol???) and this deck would durdle around in an average bracket 2 game just fine. The wins are slow and value-based increments off interactable creatures.
>>98616255This was on TTS, but my friend brought his """"bracket 2"""" Winota with no GCs to our B3 high power game.He killed us all on T4 with a deck that cost at most like 60$ lmfao
>>98615984Is your deck based around getting that out, or can that just happen sometimes?
>>98616306A lot of strategies have a ceiling no matter how hard you tune them. One of the more interesting things I think about bracket 3 is that you can find most decks' ceilings without breaking the "spirit" of a strategy and devolving into unrelated comboslop. If you want to build saga creatures, stickers, whatever, that's the home for them. That being said certain strategies have an absurd floor and can explode with ease. Winota and Magda are some of those decks you can build for pennies and flatten most players.
>>98616306killing people early with an infinite for cheap is trivial nowadays, that's why brackets is best played with a hard limit on combos - for example, you can only go infinite/thoracle turn 7+ at b3 - otherwise it also becomes very trivial to port over cedh decks that use few GCs to begin with
>>98615984>Is repercussion + dmg wipe a combo?it's not a two-card insta win combo and is fine in b2 despite what edhrec tells you
>>98616352It's also easy and boring.
>>98616480not every b2 deck vomits creatures
>tqInfinite etbs/casts with ancestral statue is pretty much it. Three card combo in Rakdos with an impact tremors or aetherflux. The deck is more based on group slug and going wide with cost reduction
After hours of searching, I found my Firebending commander (not a commander that firebends, but one that can take advantage of the firebending). Should I use the Ryu art or this ugly manface art. Any tech I should keep an eye out for?
>TQI got a Red Terror and a Casey Jones, so that counts i guess. No tutors; I draw them or i win through commander damage. https://moxfield.com/decks/VSHl8VB4R0GOMrMFW18YCQ
>>98616607>Should I use the Ryu art or this ugly manface art.you're using a man as your commander either way so you might as well use the guy from the superior IP
>>98616196Every Brenard deck should be running this
>>98616686Thanks, but ehhhhhh. I wouldn't run it for the same reason I cut Aurora Awakener: it's a bit too over-centralizing of a card. The deck largely aims to win at least in-part via saga creatures; this thing + a sac outlet with your commander out is already 6 golems. Factor in the 9!!! potential copy effects in-deck and it's just way too much.Brenard, Ginger Sculptor is such an inherently powerful commander to begin with. There are so many possible synergies you could slot into the deck. But you'll eventually Ship of Theseus your way out of it being about the saga creatures. If I were building purely for optimization's sake I'd cut them all because they suck as a strategy. But at that point I'd have no interest in Brenard.
>have been lurking this thread for months and months>don't even play Commander, nor have I ever>have nobody that I could ever play Commander withI kinda envy you anons, some of the ideas I see here are bretty coolI will also say, this is probably the only place I've found where people actually talk about the fucking game, which is equally funny as it is absurd
>>98616726No local game store nearby? They're more popular than ever.
>>98616715The whole plot of Liliana being 'le sad repentant complicated past wanting to be better' really falls short when she constantly wears that headpiece taken from an angel she killed. Also, sidenote, but apparently Chandra doesn't know who Garruk is.
>>98616746reminder that the story is so shit that wotc has never made chandra and garruk meet before despite being part of the lorwyn 5 after all these years
>>98616758>>98616746The present story is utter nonsense. Post War of the Spark things really went off the rails. Jace being the "big bad" was so loose and vague that I'm certain this "reset" post Reality Fracture is also going to be a hard reset on the story.
>>98616732Unfortunately not, it's one of those things you kinda get used to while living in the middle of the fucking mountains; at least the nearest hospital is only a 30 min drive away, but for a LGS I'd have to go even further And even then, I've heard enough horror stories about trying to play with randos that I don't think I'd be able to put up with them
>>98616686nta but if I'm podding for 7 it's gonna win me the game instead. and I ain't castin' that shit
>>98616746>>98616715Since I trust nobody cares enough to read the Reality Fracture stories, I'll just abridge them so far.>Tam's some kind of biological magical construct Jace made. She has a lot of his features apparently.>Jace survived exploding in the medication realm by willpower>"The Theorist" is a fragment of Jace's personality that has been purging the remnants of the rest of Jace's personality and locking them away>Tam is the only thing from "the Echoverse" that's possibly real and may/may not have a soul>The Theorist's grand plan is to layer the Echoverse over the Multiverse, which is likely to kill everyone (don't ask why this happens, because if this arbitration wasn't there then Jace Did Nothing Wrong. In-universe they attempt to explain it as similar to necromancy replacing where a soul was in a corps).>To do this, he needs to kill an oracle from Strixhaven, because her spirit and mind will go to the beginning of time, so he can observe how to merge two planes>Tam is having second thoughts because we were actually supposed to feel something for those theater kids from the Lorwyn set, and she has a "not like the other girls" type of moment when an Echoverse girl tries to talk to her>Vraska is hanging out with Jace's mom and Loot, mourning, wanting Jace's dick>Chandra and Ajani recruit her to go confront Jace. Vraska suggests they recruit Garruk. Chandra doesn't know who that is>They split. Vraska travels by foot en route to an Omenpath to the Echoverse.>While camping, she has a dream of Jace where he gives her an "I can be your angle or I can be your debil, or BOFF" moment>What's left of Jace-Jace yells at the Theorist from inside his mind and calls him a short-sighted retard>Ajani and Chandra go visit Garruk to recruit him because he isn't fooled by Jace's illusions. The whole time Chandra is scared that he's going to kill and/or rape them. Garruk agrees but casually reminds them that Jace can mindbreak them.
>>98616824That doesn't sound very fun either imo.>>98616196In this list the only 7 slots are Overlord of the Mistmoors and Nylea's Colossus. If I wanted to just win on the spot I'd put the Aurora Awakener back, but I'm not a fan of cards that just randomly win the game. It feels too easy.
>>98616835>we were actually supposed to feel something for those theater kids from the Lorwyn set
>>98616769>>98616758The funny thing is that the whole central conflict of the story is that Jace's Echoverse being anchored to reality could "smother" (story's wording, said numerous times) the multiverse and wipe out everyone in it. This is bad because we're supposed to be attached to this multiverse and not want it replaced by a cheap, literally-soulless imitation made by someone who discarded their emotions.Anyway, be sure to preorder a box of Star Trek, so that you might get some sick pulls for your Smaug the Impenetrable Firebending deck!
>>98616835>Survives mindbreak from willpower (multiple times)>Survives oil from willpower>Survives exploding from willpowerMary Sue writing. Vraska will get used to it and just stop thinking Jace died.
>>98616235When I see a voltron deck I cast Song of the Dryads and it's not my problem anymore.
>>98616607I got a ryu deck that is a little underwhelming, equipment based. I'd be interested to see your firebending take if you dont mind sharing.
>>98616860MtG's native lore is the echoverse here. It started out as a D&D clone and by 2011 it was generic brand (popular thing).
>>98616950i'd rather have silver age mtg (ended in 2012 after og innistrad block/m13) than this current lgbtq infested nonsense
I find it interesting that mtg's story keeps ripping off marvel movies, even though marvel movie popularity is in the shitter.
>>98616917>I always have it!
>>98616974I'm playing simic. Of course I do.
>>98616963OG Innistrad's biggest sin is introducing flip cards, a gimmick mechanic that should not exist in the physical version of mtg. Avacyn Restored was a good set that did nothing wrong however.
>>98616969>Spider-Man set sucks>Top 5 bestseller>Spider-Man movie sucks>Top 1 bestsellerMaybe WotC is hoping that if they sloppify MtG enough they'll replicate this success natively.
>>98616969that's because the most popular (male-oriented) IPs of the united states are capes and star warseuropoors only have harry potter (which already leans more for women than men) and everything else is from asia
>>98616923Everytime I try to build syngery with equipment when the commander doesn't bypass equip cost, it always ALWAY is clunky and slow as fuck. Even the most casual games are too fast for>Cast 3 mana equipment>Pay 2 to equipFor that total mana you could have casted some 5 mana bomb and if your are turn 2 or 3 casting a 3 mana equipment, then you had better have dropped a powerful as 1 drop or have a killer drop next turn.
>>98616950Yeah, that's why D&D's story is 100% MtG.Christ, threadshitter, just go away for one thread. It's been good so far without you.
>>98615825>TQ: What's your dedicated combo deck?>pic related
>>98616923ryu himself has always been a weak card that wants you to flood the board hoping you don't wiped just so you can start pinging creatures for 4+ damage (at the cost of a card!), firebending just happens to fix that egregious 4R cost
>>98617030Very tasteful.
>>98617025???Meds
I kinda fuck with making a deck with The Burned Man. Would running him with boros angels be a decent thematic play?
>>98616775Thing about it is you get horror stories but on the other end you also can get new buddies that become regulars to hang with. There's more decent people at an average LGS than there are creeps and even the weird ones are usually just a bit strange but well meaning, instead of being omega autists like horror stories paint them
>>98616835>The Theorist's grand plan is to layer the Echoverse over the Multiverse, which is likely to kill everyone (don't ask why this happens, because if this arbitration wasn't there then Jace Did Nothing Wrong. In-universe they attempt to explain it as similar to necromancy replacing where a soul was in a corps). It's very specific that this is NOT promised anywhere. It is just hte best guess of Lilliana and those who don't want to be replaced. At best there has been ana rgument that it's wrong for Jace's little mind palace to overwrite the souls of everyone in the universe into what HE wants. Also it's really funny that they still can't get past Chandra being a Stacy. She literally has a throwaway line where she wonders if Ajani is having his masculinity threatened cause Garruk is taller.Despite Ajani being a literal runt albino reject for most of his life lmao.
>>98617118angels are the closest thing in mtg for joshua so yes
>>98616835The only thing that caught me was holy shit Ajani is still alive? He was my nigga right behind Gideon back in the day
>>98617044>>98617030Basically this + every other creature in the deck
>>98616775The thing about randos is that they're random. For every horrible autist there's a normal dude who just doesn't have friends. What you're supposed to do is go to the LGS to make friends, and then either stay at the LGS if none of you have a big enough kitchen table, or preferably have a game night once you know 4-6 regulars from the LGS to be friends with.
>>98617040I think it's a pretty good idea desu, and possibly the only way I'll ever see use of his training ability. If you don't mind sharing, as a fellow lover of karatemen.
>>98616775
>>98616607you're presumably not proxying all of the Avatar cards that firebend, so why bother with a half-ass stance against UB for this ugly cunt? go with Ryu. hadoukens kinda look like firebend anyway.
>>98617079Meant for >>98616950
>>98617212All me btw.
>>98616835>Ajani and Chandra go visit Garruk to recruit him because he isn't fooled by Jace's illusionsCallback to this old comic?
It's concernedly quiet for announcement of UB announcements other than New York Comic Con this October.Something tells me Blizzard might have something in store for Blizzcon.
>>98617258>Blizzard gets UB: MtG>MtG gets UB: WoW
>>98617257Garruk has special scent powers. Illusions don't smell 'right' and Garruk can tell if someone is a fake imitation person like white lilli>>98617258They just had a D&D crossover right? Makes sense they'd do a WoW crossover. If it means we get big dragon MILF Milkers I guess that's fine
>>98617258According to a homeless guy I ran into at a bar they're going to roll back the pace on UB a bit.
>>98617281hahaha. Oh wait you're serious
>>98617274BIG MOMMY ALEXSTRASZA
>>98617282He also predicted what Tam was and played Aladdin's Lamp around one day after someone was posting it on here, so I'm suspicious.
>>98617194You don't know that, maybe he's not a pussy like you.
>>98616775Hello fellow mountain anon. I'm in the Rockies and travel down to Denver weekly to play some Magic at an LGS and pick up some groceries. Give it a shot, take a day out of your schedule, its worth it.
>>98617289I'm mad cause the art director is going to put the art directly above her tits so it's only a face shot or some stupid shit like that.
>>98617289The proxy prints will get wild.
>>98617258>it's overwatch ub set
>>98617298well maybe but then why would you waste all of that effort by using Ryu?shit at that point I would want to make a UW proxy. some Jeskai monk with flaming fists, they have a couple of warriors. or a Boros guy, I mean shit they already have a creature called "Firefist." also they invented Mentor which is basically the other half of Training. make this guy into a legendary human warrior
>>98616607Firebending wont work that well. You still run into the issue of ryu being too smol, and everyone is swinging into death, unless you spend all your firebending mana on combat tricks, which defeats the purpose
I was today years old when I found out Liliana's headpiece was obtained from Archangel of Tithes.
Why are people obsessed with "evenly matched decks?" Even precons have power gaps.
>>98617419I dunno, Iroh dragon of the west fucks hard.
>>98617258It'll probably be either X-Men (savage land subtheme so they can avoid New York again) Witcher or maybe something off the wall like Evil Dead or Friday the 13th
>>98617442If you can't figure this out you might be a little special.
>>98617419Then I'll just add effects that make him bigger on the attack.
>>98617351As the only guy in the world that wants to put my penis into the fridge body that is Zarya I say: good
>>98616607As much as I hate the art, Kirol first year student is great in this deck.
>>98617469In that character roster there is always something for someone.
>>98617489No dracthyr bulge yet.
>>98617152>>98617131Oh I don't doubt that, but I think I'd still rather have a good group of frens to play with instead since i'm all sorts of rusty from only ever playing Arena in recent years. But they've all moved out and/or have had kids and all that stuff so nobody really has time to put together a deck. It's just that even going to the nearest LGS would be an enormous commitment in terms of time and moneyAt least I can enjoy my time comfily lurking here>>98617301Based fellow mountain anon150km is a bit much to count as a day trip for my tastes, but at least we somehow get convenient Amazon shipping for most goods lel
>>98617258Are there any Hearthstone cards that would be a fun conversion to Magic?
>>98617670First thing comes in mind from the launch or core set.
>>98617670PUT YOUR FAITH IN THE LIGHT
>>98617708God I remember all the Rogue shadow step cold blood combos that fuck used to enable

>>98615825>TQThis guy. I don't really play him anymore but he infinites with so many cards that the deck would combo out nearly every game. Often in new ways I hadn't thought of before.
Fellers i need help for my Jewish Malcator deck, i got divining top and candelabra, smothering tithe, land tax, what else works? I need some proper advanced racist oldheads here,
>>98617714that third ability made me remember that mtg still hasn't done anything similar to hearthstone weapons (letting the player become a game object and attack shit directly) other than, like, Form of the Dragon / Dinosaur
Gwafa Hazid, Reparations, Promise of Tomorrow, that Hebrew print of Glory, Samite Alchemist, Icatian Moneychanger to become the Jew.
>>98618018Meant for >>98617830. Whoops.
>>98618023Found some good ones too: Expropriate, Blatant Thievery, Agent of Trechery, Trechery, Master of Predicaments, Bribey, Propaganda, Public Enemy, Fabricate, Muddle the Mixture, Sphere of Safety, Search the Premisses, Orzhov Advokist, Ballot Broker, Tax Collector, Blind Obedience and my favourite - Gilded Drake. I didn't think it'd be this easy. Still looking for more stuff to throw onto the initial pile.
>>98615600No that's an objective good, most children would be better off math-wise if they learned this game.
>>98616306>He killed us all on T4Then it's literally not B2 you retard.
>>98618311why the fuck do you think i put it in so many quotes, manwe all know he was taking the piss with its power level but we wanted to see what the deck could do
>>98618316You should have just not lied at all then.
>>98617830Bard, other token doublers and a lot of flickerSaiAs for the racist angle, maybe Gwafa Hazid, Lavinia of the tenth, cathars crusade, smugglers share and gleaming splendor, syndic of tithes to go even more jewish

>>98618742hey I play Avacyn! its the boros one though since she can get funny flip shenanigans
Is she underrated?>get out turn 5 thanks to mana rocks + land tax>already have a turn 1 Serra Ascendant, turn 3 Sword of Feast and Famine>have a Dictate of the Twin Gods so everything does quadruple damage>drop Aurelia, the Warleader turn 6>wipe everyone out with good old fashioned commander damage
>>98618960No, she's not underrated.
>>98618964I don't know about that. I never see anyone play her because she is expensive. When she came down nobody attacked me because they would do more damage to anyone else. Softened them up for me the next turn.
>>98618960A decade ago, she was one of the best Boros commanders and one of the best Boros cards, period.Powercreep is nasty though, and the main problem is that they've really shifted Boros away from the days when Lightning Helix was its most iconic spell and playing around with damage was its bread and butter. Now, it's been pigeon-holed into being the Equipment colors, and in that light Gisela is underwhelming because she's largely just a fat creature with no protection beyond having a functional backend of 10 against burn effects. When she's cheated out to play, she can be incredibly strong, but there's other cards that naturally come out earlier and just let you win the game easier, whether its via combos like with Aurelia or just by being able to stick around and make better use of equipment like Captain Marvel.I do like how as a Commander she can surprise kill someone with Embercleave, that there's lots of interesting interactions she opens up, and there's few cards I'm happier to see be pulled out by a Buster Sword, but her heydey is long past and Boros would need to see some dramatic changes to make her as strong as she once was. Even then, there's now much cheaper doublers. That said, few things are as satisfying as Gisela+Twinflame Tyrant+Lightning Army of One+Other Doublers=Dealing 300+ damage to someone who thought they were safe behind 100 life.
Have you ever met a group of people who don't really know the power level of their own deck? As in they think their decks are high power but in reality the gameplan is slow and only exists as B4 because they jammed all of their good stuff in one deck. For example:>get into a game with randos>they say their decks are all Bracket 4>sure why not, bring out my Sanar Dragonstorm deck>they are all durdling and doing nothing of significance by turn 5>I storm out win on my turn 5>their boards are just low impact creatures and a smothering titheNone of them gave me any flack thankfully but its so odd how people think their deck power level is how much goodstuff they jam in with no coherent strategy and expect it to be a winning deck.
>>98619034Any advice for building Aurelia and Avacyn for Boros while keeping it Bracket 3?
>>98619035Everyone thinks their deck is special and strong. To me bracket 4 means the game is over by turn 4/5. Commander has changed a lot over the years, it used to be about memeing. The brackets are meant to keep the tryhards on their own islands. For example here's a deck I made to be bracket 1/2. Does it look like it's around that level /edhg/?
On Control bracket 2, How many board wipes should i have?
>>98619035This is literally everyone I talk to that plays bracket 3/4. Their deck is some cripplejester shit with a small amount of cards that should have been banned 10 years ago and they think that makes it up to the bracket standard.
>>98619150What colors are you in?
>>98619035my deck has felidar guardian and restoration angel so it is bracket 4 by default
>>98619035>>98619144>turn 5 in b4You're not wrong; if you look at current bracket rules the only thing that differentiates it from cedh + have it be enforceable is to limit thoracles and infinites to turn 5+ (it's still more of a containment bracket much like b1 is)
>>98619150At least 7, which is equivalent to having a 4-of in a 60 card deck
>>98619221esper>>98619243Holy. That's a lot.
>>986192847 is a lot? I run 13 in my mono black deck.
I have a Boardwipe and a Wincon in my command zone and when I drop this nigga on the table people clench they assholes.
Is there some app or something that lets me scan and catalog my collection?
>>98619035>retard kings: I'm going to combo out as fast as I can, run dual lands, proxy everything, good as can be, value engine in command zone>humans: this 4 person social format that is kitchen table magic and optimizing for it is kind of stupid, here's a dumbass combo Realistically, you only need 3 flags or types. Is your deck actively trying to win/sabotage others? i.e competitiveIs your deck fast? I.e. higher poweredIs your deck boiled down to the absolute best cardsm including ones commonly banned in competitive formats? i.e. optimized>hehe It's a 3 :) faggot wins on turn 4 with optimized playline>everyone brings out their competitive deck>becomes a whinehard bitcher that gets shut down >'wahhh why opposition agent my tutor' >'wow, you countered my kefka for the 3rd time, he's never resolved'
>>98619048Boros has lots of fun cards, but it's pretty weak thanks to lacking the abundant and reliable card draw like the other colors get, and other basic weaknesses like limited ramping and lackluster tutors for everything except weenies and equipment. It runs out of gas fast, and is just not the best colors for EDH.Aurelia is a great card and would probably be the strongest commander in my deck if I made her as such, but that's just because it's chock full of equipment tutors and her plus Helm of Hosts or Sword of Hearth and Home is why my deck is technically Bracket 4 despite being absolutely terrible. I have a problem where I can't stop myself from including infinite combos but I also can't stop myself from making bad decks. My deck's current strategy is letting my equipment solve my issues, like Sword of the Animist/Reaver Cleaver helping to fix Boros's bad ramp or Buster Sword being a one-stop-shop for fixing everything, but that ends up falling prey to the main weaknesses equipment have, namely being disruptable, body-dependent, and relatively slow and really relying on a total buy-in strategy where every card has to synergize/speed up equipment somehow to make it truly competitive and I just don't have the stomach to do that.Best advice for Boros is to just play what you love and remember that everyone wishes they could play Boros Charm.
>>98619035in my experience it's an LGS 'problem'one LGS will be slightly under power, another will be on par, etc.. it ends up being a meta thing, everyone settles into a power range and the brackets devolve back into "everyone's a 7."

>>98619035meanwhile im facing "this is my dragon tribal deck" that tutors for food chain squee or i can expect any random blue deck to have a displacer kitten line in my bracket 3 pods. then if i cast a single rule of law in bracket 2 it's like i've skinned a live puppy on the table.
>>98619388Probably this.
>>98619388want it just for the cute creature in the art. i will make an all Kev Walker deck one day
>>98619411>doesn't even have miracle
>>98619409Hating rule of law in b2 is funny because there's a very good chance the pod is battlecruiser and casts only one spell a turn anyway
>>98619419i was thinking the same thing
>>98619423I cannot tell you how many times I've seen someone main phase remove it "to take one for the team".
>>98619409>mfw am the table hero because I played rule of law and cucked the resident combo fag from going off and then the very next match i am the archenemy because I played rule of law against two token decks
>>98619035I make bad decks with infinite combos and "game changers" thrown in, and that's because for the main game I don't want to play the same strategy endlessly where I use the same or functionally the same cards to reliably win by turn 4-5, but I also don't want to be put in a situation where the only way I can pull a win out of my ass would be to draw into some infinite combo and not having one in my deck. They're like... nukes. You don't want to have to use them, but they're good to have because someone (or everyone) else probably has some secret nukes stashed away and it's not good to come to a nuke fight without at least one (or two or three or four). To be absolutely honest, I make my decks with Yugioh always in my mind. Not the card game, the television show, and all I really wanna do is make dramatic plays that people never forget (One of my favorite cards is Dawn Charm, because it can turn what looks like a loss into a victory, and many of my most memorable wins started off by surviving just that one extra turn. Kinda vital for a Yugi-style reversal, whether its Swords of Revealing Light or Magical Hats or Kuriboh or whatever). Unfortunately, that means using cards that can end up being part of infinite combos or can flip a losing situation into a winning one (Gamechangers), but that's all part of the theater. If your deck does its thing and wins by turn 5, that nice, but you're playing a different game then the one me and my friends play and we probably won't remember that match beyond "that deck did what was expected of it." The goal isn't just to win, it's to win in a way where literally any deck I play that has white in it has my friends vocally strategizing like I always have a Dawn Charm in my hand even if I only have that card in one deck.
>love combo because puzzling how to get through hate and interaction is actually interesting>name besmirched by misleading retards who lie and get off on infiniting against precons Many such cases
>>98619519>>love combo because puzzling how to get through hate and interaction is actually interesting...is it?It's mostly just a question of "How can I make this into solitaire."
>>98619527Spoken like someone with no interaction in their deck. Multiplayer game, retard.
>>98619509You are the exact demographic that thinks their deck is way better than it actually is if you think having combo pieces randomly slotted in means you can stop someone playing an actual combo deck.
>>98619535Don't throw your chaff at me.
>>98619555I counter it.
>>98619360I hate that Aurelia + Host, SoHH, Reaver Cleaver Assault etc. are classified as early infinites, and I can't really run in my mostly B3 podshe's fucking six mana and RW has shit ass ramp to get her out early anyway reeeeee
>>98619597Believe me fren that looking at combos in terms of how fast you can cast them is not the way no matter what edhrec tells youB3 is best played when there's just a blanket no infinites until everyone has had a turn 6 (meaning your t7), this eliminates having to argue about the actual likelihood of your deck popping off/whether it's really a 2 card or a 3 card conbo/arguing various other minutia
>>98619541No. I know my deck is trash, in regards to the definition that is should lose 9/10 times to even some precons. But, I'll happily lose a theoretical nine times if it means the one time I do win it is spectacular, ie. a from-behind Heart-of-the-Cards win that surprises everyone, including myself. Hell, half the reason I have the cards that enable infinite combos in my decks is because they inherently have weird interactions with other cards that make things interesting, and I'm always more excited to discover a combo in the middle of a game than just assemble a game-winning infinite everyone already knows.I mostly play in a group that's pretty casual, but occasionally we get more competitive people to join in, and the only reason my deck can hold its own is because it's a multiplayer format and having the best deck is often the worst position to be in. I individually couldn't do much to stop a proper combo deck, but in a group I don't have to be the one to stop them, usually just one of the people who point out what combo someone might be going for or how they plan on pushing it through. If the goal of the game was just to win, everyone would just play one of the top commanders and we'd essentially roll a die to see who got luckiest. Actually, we probably could just save a lot of money by skipping the whole building decks thing and just rolling dice. But since that's not the sole goal, and not even my personal highest, playing a trash deck is not just acceptable, it can serve our ultimate purposes better.
>>98619591I pay 3.
>>98619683>If the goal of the game was just to win, everyone would just play one of the top commanders and we'd essentially roll a die to see who got luckiestThat really only applies to cedh due to combos happening on t2 and counterspells really being the only way to stop them (how black still doesnt have edh-appropriate thoughtseizes in 2026 is baffling)Contrast to b2 where infinites and alt wincons are locked until t9 and the general play pattern is so telegraphed that playing 4th seat is much less painful
>>98619662That's what I do usually, like say im on Mono B and its turn 6 with Vito out and Conq in my hand. Just give a heads up that on my next turn, unless someone has interaction up it's gonna be ggs. The one round cycle is usually enough for my friends to not get mad from "winning out of nowhere" even if they all tap out for whatever reason and I can get the drain combo off.But most of the time people have mana up for counterspells, removal and so on
>>98619597SoHH is such a fun card and it's almost a shame that it goes infinite so easily.I actually used it the other day to recover a Gisela someone Spelljacked from me. Just punched him in the face with the sword on some kobold token and flickered her back to my side of the field.

There is this thread on le reddit that boils down to>"You don't actually expect me to shuffle my deck in between each instance of Mind's Desire right?"Yeah bitch I do. Play the card as it is written or take it out of your deck. The randomness of your deck is immaterial to the question.
>>98621078I would allow for a single mash shuffle and cut between each copy, but, yeah, you have to rerandomize it to some extent each time.

I'm getting tired up turning things right.Commanders for the drain table or killing enemies by breathing feel?
It sucks that bracket 4+ is just comboslop, they should just hard ban all combos so that you can play with the cool stuff that higher brackets allow while still actually playing the game instead of just fishing for a card that says "i win".
>>98621225If you hate everyone you play with then try Sephiroth, if you want things to be a bit less unpleasant for everyone else then Sheoldred does what you want.
Fuuuck dude this living weapons deck was so much easier to build a year+ ago. Slowly sleeving it in current year and cutting low-curve creatures (replace Trinket Mage with low-cost Tezzeret, Enduring Curiosity for The Indomitable) and intending to lean harder into the polymorph subtheme with a wide spread of targets for Mass Polymorph/Synthetic Destiny finishers. But the slots get filled so rapidly. There's like 3x the living weapons now than there were then, in the form of job select artifacts. And they're all low-curve, letting them sit in the 2-3 range with power outlier exceptions. The dearth of cards for this strategy got switched out and suddenly the steak is TOO fucking juicy and buttery. I'd like to trade for an Iron Man, Titan of Innovation before deploying it because he seems perfect. And the optimization brain in me is saying to run>Urza, Lord High Artificerin the 99 but that seems like too easy a way to stumble into a cringe engine (clones + Swordmaster's Steel probably let you draw your whole deck), even if he is thee ideal polymorph target of the deck. There's just so many options now. I was "down" to a 120-card list but now I'm at like 140.
>>98621244Like what do you MEAN there's a Godo 2 for this deck and he's got titan design so he synergizes with the commander? We've got tribal polymorphs. Mirrorform as a token finisher. Equipment matters in the Marvel slop set. All this without keeping in mind the deck needs to eat its goddamn vegetables and run counters/removal/board wipes.
>>98621225You could try running Kokusho.
>>98621262Not to mention random synergies. I get a hard dopamine hit from synergistic decks so I see a card like Starwinder and start vibrating. Unlike most polymorph targets he won't just rot there in your hand. And with every equip in the deck being a haste outlet when Dalakos is out he can just randomly represent a draw 7 on his own.Anyway thank you for reading my epic reddit blog the ADHD meds kicked in before work which is when I make these posts.
>>98621262oh phuck, just made a wick deck that turns changelings into voltrons but was finding equip costs to be crippling. this is perfect.
>>98621305I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Unless you mean polymorphing the snail token.
>>98621318any changeling is going to be a rat and a snail, and a samurai
>>98621341Oh I'm stupid, I thought you replied to the deck not Gilgamesh. Yeah that would work. I actually like tribal-tribal, and Wick is a good unique choice for that. Since you can just sacrifice them I would personally recommend artifacts that equip for cheap. Grafted Wargear is a pet equip of mine. The new Sting is a pretty solid one-off. I'm unsure how hard you're leaning into the deck being able to profit off any tribe though. Wick alone is a crazy engine.

How do you build a B2 deck? How is it possible to build a deck that will not kill someone, even with a goldfish, in eight turns?
>>98621921Eight turns without gamechangers is surprisingly short, and the bracket list says that the game typically lasts that time, not that nobody dies.
>>98621929why doesnt everyone just start with 8 lands on the battlefield to save time
>>98621921I guess every B2 deck could win in eight turns in magical Christmas land with no interaction, but that's rarely the case.
>>98621921There's no reasonable way to take that rule literally because there are precons that can potentially infinite-win on turn 2. Just tell retards who think you can't kill them for ramping 3 turns in a row that any precon could have killed them. Nothing makes sense otherwise.
>>98621921For the last time, brackets are about FEELS and VIBES. Bracket two and below are for tranny faggots that do shit like>Hmmm, I have a 2/2, there are zero creatures other than it on the battlefield... I think I won't attack!

>>98623276I like top but only when I'm the one using it. I look at the top three and put them back correctly in a timely manner, but the savages and brutes that I play with just don't know how to spin their top properly and stare at their top three for a whole minute.
>>98623300Yeah same bro. It's because people don't build their decks or they build super complicated piles of non-synergistic shit. I don't think I've ever spent more than 1 minute using it.
>picked up all four lotr decks for close to msrpThink I'm gonna keep them stock and sleeve them up to let people borrow/introduce people to edh with four thematic, similarly powered decks
What other creatures besides Roaming Throne should I put in her?
>>98623201It's rough that Mabel didn't get the support she needed. Mice also really needed something better than Valiant. Heroic sucked ass, and while Valiant fixed one problem by including abilities, the once-per-turn crippled it outside of standard. As it stands she's a rough commander to build for with a lot of similar competitors. It does looks like they sort of learned their lesson with the Hobbit set by making the dwarves really tie up into each other pretty well and also work with cards outside their set, though they've really just cemented the RW=Equipment thing even harder.
>>98623332>doesn't search exilehate this shit
>>98623331Fog Bank of course.
>>98623331something that's a good target for restoration seminar
>>98623341If I can find it I'll put in in just for you anon
>>98623331
>>98623332Yeah, I wanted to focus Mice with her. I like mice, they are cute, but goddamn there are only like 16 mice in the entire game and only 5 are decent. I'm still going to run the absolutely best mice, but I am leaning hard into Boros creature slop to give trample and haste to. Shit like pic related
>>98623332There are a wide range of Equipment commander now. It's kinda funny how the niche is so competitive and there is an argument to be hand over which is the best. Fuck, even Gruul has a good equipment commander now. What the fuck is going on?
combine rat and mouseactually combine rat and dog and cat with animal
>>98623409meanwhile there will never be a good vehicle commander
>>98623417Your greasefang, bro?
>>98623430still not a good commander
>>98623441Your White Man and his Brown Sex Bunny, bro?
>>98623465worse than bello
>>98623485Bello is a "do a thing draw a card" commander, and thus cannot be good.
>>98623495Didn't realize it was opposite day
>>98623485Bello decks live and die by their commander. Too many shitters break the deck apart because they don't know how many 1cmc protection spells there are in the game.Even then, he's not that great of a commander.
>>98623316Did they get a recent reprint?
>>98623417I don't care what (You) think is good.
>>98623200>Yeah I can't think of any better 4 mana ramp creatures. Not a single one.that's uh not what I said but yeah, totally. Oracle is even better in that deck it's true
>>98623417You ain't trying hard enough.
>>98623553No idea. Amazon had the 4pack of each deck for like $20 over MSRP so I snapped it up. Still got them sealed right now but even if the collector samplers are dogshit it'll be nice to have a LOTR EDH boardgame I can pull out,
>>98623671that's not a vehicle commander, that's a seedborn muse commander that plays a few vehicles
>Eminence - Vehicles are creatures on your turn and have haste. That's the ability necessary for a good vehicle commander.
>>98623827Vehicles are inherently bad cards and that's OK. I play greasefang because it's... Le fun!
Raised by giants is my commander. It's on the board. I cast Bello. Raised by giants is a 4/4?It's not on the board but Bello is. I cast Raised by Giants. It's a 10/10?Is that how it works?
>>98623809There is nothing stopping you from adding more vehicles to make that the main theme of the deck.
You guys are not committing enough to the vehicle gimmick. You are cowards. https://archidekt.com/decks/19007550/i_love_aetherdrift_give_us_aetherdrift_2_and_legendary_vehicle_commanders_with_eminence
>>98623952what the fuck? They made art with SaMUTT that actually looks good?! How did they get away with this?
>>98623848Why are they bad?
>>98623827>Eminence - Ignore this entire mechanicYeah that would make it good. Next you're gonna say equipment just needs "Eminence - Equipment you control have Equip 0"
>>98623988They are creatures that need other creatures to do anything
>>98623952Deck needs more ramp, having to wait to drop Samut turn 5+ is painful.
There will never be a good vehicle commander until there is a sexy goblin one.
>>98624042the track record on sexy goblins is terrible so it seems unlikely
>>98624054cleave deez gobs
>>98624082Would if I could.
>>98624042We didn't get one in aetherdrift, it will be a long ass time before we get another set with goblins and a vehicle focused set. I'll be waiting with you bro.
>Universes Beyond isn't just WotC selling cards as ad spac- ACK
>>98624192you wish wotc could sell Universe Within as ad space KEK
>>98624192Goddamn, why did they have to be TAHT bad.
>>98624200every star trek card is bad
>>98624213Yes, but those two promos are some of the worst cards I have ever seen. I get they can't make promos like that game breaking, but holy shit 6CMC for that effect?
>>98624213but star trek is better than the jacetice league
>When peanut enters or attacks, put two +1/+1 counters on each creature you control. They get vigilance until end of turn.
>>98624192Gonna be honest. I don't even care.
>>98624200Fuck off and go play Star Trek Academy or something Trekker. Tired of every faggot getting a chance to rape the game I like.
>>98624239>native indians suck at warfare>they get assraped by superior civilizations>mtg suck at ip management>it gets assraped by superior ip
>>98624192Why is Picard the MC of a Minecraft movie?
>>98624239There is nothing left. The game has already been raped. All that is left is a mindbroken husk of a game that can do nothing but lay meekly face down on the mattress weeping into a bloody pillow as more and more IPs line up to pulverize its already scarred, torn, and swollen hole until it finally dies of sepsis where in a final humiliation its bloody and beaten corpse will be used as a urinal.
>>98624274new thread, new thread>>98624274
>>98624254Remind me how american indians had a centralized government with absolute control over their borders and decided to let in the huwyte man aginst the wishes of its own citizenry. If anything that's more comparable to what is happening to the US today, but if you made that comparison then you'd have to out yourself as the jeet you are>>98624272The bubble will burst and WotC will come crawling back. 5 years time. It's a long time to wait, but in 5 years there will be no slop left to lick at the bottom of the barrel and WotC will create UB-free formats and arrange to sunset UB out of Standard rotation.Screenshot it
>>98624283The problem is new players, there are none. The core player base is just getting older and older and collabing with theses old dead IPs (IPs the same age as the core) will not bring in new players. There is going to be a giant exodus when the core playerbase start hitting 40 and WOTC will not recover because they never focused on making their own IP interesting enough for new players or collabing with IPs that younger people actually enjoy.
>>98624283ackshually the noble savages were too busy killing each other to even enforce border control, cest la vie
>>98624294That’s false, I know people personally that have gotten into magic after a UB set came out. Stop being trans and trying to gatekeep a card game intended for children, you’re allowed to do it to your gayass kids shows like Steven Universe but you aren’t allowed to do it to MTG.
>>98615825TQ this dude I play with uses sensei's top + helm of awakening with Jhoria to draw his whole deckmy dedicated combo deck is a new Smaug + pestilence deck
>>98624479>>98624294Final Fantasy UB got me BACK into magic, I started playing in like 09 (m10 era). I played a lot of the SNES and PSX final fantasy games or replayed them during those years like 09-12 and always thought it would be dope to have a Final Fantasy crossover and people said it would never be donewell it happened and its pretty good. although the games after X are stupid like 14 - 16 (that means YSHTOLA) and the remakes suck. But seeing classic FF stuff is cool, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 translated really well to cards. they dropped the ball on 5 though. not a fan of of the troon groomers in magic but I think they're leaving the game
