Played a 1500 point pitched battle vs Renegade ogres. Da Skull Smashaz and Ogres crossed paths after coming down from the Worlds Edge Mountains. The townsfolk had fled into the mansion of the local lord, watching terrified from the windows.

Snagrog had his big uns with him, his lads. Bardok had come back, leading his black orcs and crazy Grotfsng with his boars. Snufgob abd his wolves lurched alongside Grimtoof the beleagured black orcs boyz and four trolls had followed suite. The arrer gits fixed their bows and the lobba pulled up.

It was time for a good scrap.

A giant on the field. Let's see if my yardstick holds true: the 200pt giant is how you should judge every unit, whether cav, inf, monster, or other. Ive always seen him hit just about his points value except rare circumstances he gets ass blasted by 3 cannons in a turn. And even then id say he might have pulled his weight cause those cannons didn't shoot something else.

The battle started with the Greens winning the roll off. The Orcs held their position, but a lucky rock lobber hit instantly killed a Mournfang with Grotfang and the arrer boyz holding position.

After the Mournfang charged and ran down the fleeing arrers, Grotfang and his boars charged into them, butchering the Mournfangs abd overrunning into the Gnoblar trappers, wiping them out.

But it was on the right things were serious. The Giant charged the wolves who fled through the boyz only for it and the ironguts to slam into Grimtoof's lads. After catastrophic losses, they broke and fled through the wolves, the giant failing to catch them and the ironguts holding.

Bardok, sensing the urgency of the situation, WAAAGHED and urged his fearful bkack orcs forward. The four trolls joined, crashing into the Ironguts.

The battle was the most bloody abd gribdy ive ever seen. For 3 turbs, the black orcs, trolls and ironguts onky gave ground and everyone with great weapobs struck at the sane time. Ironguts, trolls and blorcs died. This combat lasted till the very end of the game, only the Tyrant being left!

Bardok and his black orcs, although dying, really showed up this game.

How well is Warhammer Fantasy selling in China? How do Chinese netizens feel about Warhammer Fantasy's Cathay faction anyways? I'd imagine they can smell the pandering and maybe joke about it.
I'm not sure if the Chinese pandering phase passed by the time Cathay was revealed in TWW3.
But I do know that GW's schedule often makes them late for trends.

Impossible to say. The majority of the models bought there are knockoff recasts without even having a transport cost.

Beastmen are legit OP in battle march. Gors are too strong a core unit for such a small table.

The giant was charged by the wolves and suffered a shocking two wounds. Despite its best attempts, after witnessing a stupid amount of 1s, it took the giant 2 turns to finish the wolves! The big boss broke only for the giant to overrun into Grintoof's gits!

The chip damage had it to 2 wounds. The boyz wailed in fear, but Grimtoof passed the terror test, only for the giant to tear apart orcs in a random attack. Grimtoof, finally seeing a chance to make a serious name for himself, ordered the boyz to chop like they never chopped before. Grimtoof, blessed by Gork (or Mork) killed the Giant! Its corpse squashed some more Orcs but they held. The boyz cheered for their boss having slain a giant, but Grimtoof remained his dour self.

After being blasted by the Leadbelchers and flamed by the Firebelly, Snagrog called a WAAAGH and charged, pushing through his ladz fear to urge them into melee. Many if his big uns had falken but still plenty left.

Roaring a challenge, the Firebelly stepped forward to meet Snagrog. Before the Ogre could even strike, Snagrog's axe blade had split open the Firebelly's gutplate, deep into its flesh. It let out a cry of pain but Snagrog swung and swung again, each blow causing terrible wounds. It was over as the Firebelly fell into a bloody heap, its body mangled (5 wounds!).

The leadbelchers fell back, only for Snagrog's big uns to pursue. The Leadbelcher Champion shoved his way forward to face the Orc boss, only to have its skull split open as Snagrog's axe bire into its fkesh and bone (4 wounds!).

The battle was over. The Tyrant, had finally killed the last troll. Standing among a pile of the dead, the Ironguts, bkack orcs abd trolls, only he remained standing.

Snagrog had the leadbelchers cornered, Grotfang's boars flanking them. What few were left, fled the field, the Tyrant too not far behind.

Snagrog ordered his ladz to start looting.

"What bout da humies in da big house boss?"

Snagrog cuffed the big un, knocking it to the floor, grunting.

"Naw, da fight aint in dese humies. Besides...we got lootin ter do. Take what you can and get movin. Dem ogres runnin, we will follow, cause where dey go, we will find more to fight!"

A minor victory to the Orcs, WAAAGHHH!!!

Well it's obviously not to market to China (though the tww3 one was absolutely to market to china), it's intended to sell to people who "would get into warhammer fantasy but it doesn't have enough non-white representation". China doesn't really care about being portrayed as nefarious in some way (so long as there are no skeletons), since TWW3 has a ton of tidbits about how cathay is like 1984 fantasy chink edition, they do trepanning (boring holes into skulls) en masse to solve chaos thoughts, have mandatory re-education every year, etc. None of that stopped them from being beloved by them. But, they don't play warhammer, if they buy plastic models it's Gundam (or knockoff gunam). But, they fear that liberals who want to get into the game would be offended if the first explicitly non-white faction were portrayed as being a mixed bag of morality!
>>
>>98623835

It absolutely was to market to china too.

Its whatever. TWW3 was made to be utopian until they added a bunch of flavor text to explain they have problems too, more serious or funny but about empire tier. Like the monkey king fucking around for a bit and sometimes the siblings starting exceptionally stupid wars, and other things.

Then TT Cathay came out and so far has stuck with the utopian theme.
>>
>>98624053
The TW Cathay was more varied from the start. They had writeups pre monkey king about the rogue alchemists in the warpstone desert. The implied use and abuse of warpstone across Zhaos territory, cults of Tchian Chi ( Tzeentch ) being a regular occurrence, peasant rebellions etc.

The GW implementation has been fully utopian so far but it’s only Miao that’s been put in lore wise so far

>Absolutely crazy that we live in the timeline where WHFB is the wokest, most communist pandering Warhammer setting when Age of Smegmar and 40gay exist.
Because they hired a historical sensitivity team? Dude, look at the Bretonnian and Empire webstore assuming this isn't a troll like it probably is.

There isn't a single miniature painted black for the sake of diversity like in 40k or especially AoS (40k you can justify it in a lot of cases). All the men of the Empire are painted white on the webstore, all the Brets are painted white on the webstore. All the Cathayans are painted in various Chinese skin tones.

TOW is the least woke/pandering setting we have. There still is some of course, with the heavily pushed female representation among common soldiers/peasants in Cathay. But it's by far the least woke/communist pandering (whatever that means concretely) of the settings.
>>

He won't engage in your reasoning. He will post the mashup of warcom Cathay articles and warhammer community pics and WHRP art of black people. Perhaps he will even post the Nuln studio army with the black Sigmarite priest. But he won't engage in the content of what you are saying because he is a troll.
>>

Those aren’t painted, they’re photoshopped. They have no reason to paint models they already had painted years ago when they were on Aos.
>>
>>98624208
I am glad you brought up that point, because all the brand new WoC who are meant to be Norscan Vikings are 100% white as well. So your point doesn't hold water, I assume you'll agree if you argue in good faith, but I have seen your photoshop take before so I think you're probably the troll.

>cathay edition
I just finished my first Cathay mini. Should I continue on with the rest of the unit of jade warriors, or try painting a chaos warrior from the other half of the core set?

Also should I build the banner guy/drummer/jade officer in the second set or just make those into regular warriors?
>>
>>98624245
For my own selfish reasons I think you should paint a Chaos Warriors. Mostly because I want to see what you can do with it. What colors are you thinking?
>>
>>98624245
You know if you paint them black they would look…distasteful with the cavemen hairstyle.
>>
>>98623738
WoC or cathay. get some new models. beastmen and orcs have some dated doofy kits, and beastmen are too boring to paint. okay so i paint some light brown here, and there i paint some dark brown, get some tan for the horns, and maybe another brown for the leather. zzzzzz. that armies color pallet sucks unless you go really out of your way to paint them unnatural colors, but since most of the models are wearing little to no armor, there just isnt much to color other than fur, bone, horns, and skin. on the plus side i guess its easy to paint at least. orc models are also phenomenally boring and mundane except the black orcs, so unless you plan to run mostly black orcs and night goblins/wolf riders (cause the goblins get to dip into the aos updated range which is very good), then orcs can be really dull.

but if im gonna be dropping cold hard cash i'd rather get something a little more exciting
>>
>>98623738

as an addendum to the orcs though, i've seen some people converting the new 40k ork boyz into fantasy ork boyz by replacing the gun hands with shields and removing the scifi bits, and then you actually get some good looking boyz, but that would be a lot of work across a whole army
>>
>>98624276
When I eventually get mine I was thinking doing like a classic Red/Gold or Bronze for a Khorne Berzerker type look. I think they would pop really nicely. Like a dark red with a gold maybe.
>>
>>98624276
although maybe I will do another color than red just to not have so much red on the table
>>
>>98624245
Looks cool. Would go with Jade warriors next since you're already on the champion and know the palette.
>>
>>98624284
you know, I don't think that would take a real lot of time to do for boys. You only need 30-50 regular boys anyway. Biguns maybe, but I can't think of good Black orc conversions off the top of my head, nor anything goblin cav.
>>
>>98624126
One of the big TWW cathay problems, that the tabletop fluff also shows the struggle with, is that they have barely any neighbours to have a dynamic with. Ind and Khuresh are just plain on the map. The ogres are often friendly with them and the only real threat is chaos, which they have a giant fuckoff wall for. There's dark elves across the ocean but that's about it. The lack of named characters being relevant there is highlighted by the fact they had to move a ton of lords from the actual setting to go there, but that's an exceptional time, and normally there's just no threats of beastmen or dark elves or orcs or anything. It sucks
>>
>>98624284
those look really good desu
I'm sad I missed out on the kev adams orc mto, though. Those are some of my favorite orc sculpts
>>
>>98624320
its mostly the gap filling. when you leave off the guns, the lack of gun strap leaves kind of a gap in some spots, plus leaving off the grenade satchels also leaves some small holes too.

but there are some poses that are weilding just a machine gun in two hands, and that would be much harder to fix i think, but from what i remember there's only like 2/10 that are like that, so not the worst ratio.

might still be some of the 11th launch box boyz floating around cheap, but the 40k crowd is ravenous so idk how long thats going to be the case.
>>
File: ork warboss.jpg (779 KB, 1760x920)
779 KB JPG
>>98624320
also i think the black orcs and boar riders hold up waaaaaay better than the regular boyz, so i dont really think you'd even need to replace those ones, those kits look decent. its just the unarmored boyz on foot that are rough. and also the chariot i guess, that thing could use a new crew.

i'd also want to jimmy a warboss out of the new ork warboss kit, that guys sick. looks like theres enough alternate bits that you can get him almost completely devoid of scifi bits too. not that the new bigboss for the old world isnt good, he is, but i mean come on, look at this guy. i wouldnt be able to turn it down.
>>
>>98624465
Oh, yeah I'll completely agree with you there then. As for the holes in the boys from the missing things, easy to cover up with quivers or such to turn them into janky arrer boys. The bows are harder with that tho.

Have you checked the guy's Instagram?
He might have a list of kits he used
only ones i can figure out are the high elf horse is a modified Ellyrian Reavers horse and the Cold ones is an AoS lizerdmen mount agein heavily moddified
>>
>>98626609
>high elf
Head is from prince althran (prince on griffon), horse is from an ellyrian reaver with some extra armor (dragon prince kit?).

Cant tell the shield, but the sword might also be a dragon prince. Armor seems to be too, at least the greaves.

>dark elf
Sword is from the dreadlord on dragon
Spearman shield
Converted AoS lizard mount (the new big cold ones (raptadons?))
Cold one knight legs and body. Head is probably also from the dreadlord kit.
>>
>>98626643
I don't think they will come back in the near future, but saying never is also nonsensical. GW will increase product output heavily over the next few years due to doubling their production capabilities. With that will come changes to how they handle existing product lines.
>>
>>98626576
Oh I see. That's also fair. I have never looked at dwarfs too closely so ill take your word for it.
>>
>>98626609
Most of the high elf seems to be from the high elf lords kit, I can identify the legs, the torso, and the shield. I think the little dragon head mounted on the horse's head and the barding come from that kit as well.

the journal format aligns better with the pace of releases they've set up, and the combined books with multiple armies in it encourage buying more and mixing and matching units from different armies through allies, armies of infamy or just units that exist in multiple lists
But with the addition of cathay and soon kislev the good side of the armies is very overwhelming compared to the evil one, and the journal format is soon getting to ridiculous levels of bookkeepings

so they might start doing armybooks followed by one big book of chronicles for past journal shenanigans of all armies, followed by the next set of journals as new releases unfold.

but that wouldn't happen until 2nd edition.
>>
>>98626650
>>98626609
Thanks!

I did find his insta and he does list out every kit which is really cool. It looks like it took a lot of custom sculpting. Here's what he said:
99% of the sculpting is done with Milliput. I tested Tamiya Quick as well - the product does exactly what it is supposed to, but the drying time is actually... too quick for me

High Elf
- body, shield, saddle: high elf lord (TOW)
- arms and sword: vanari bladelords (AOS)
- shoulder pads: swordmasters of hoeth (TOW - not visible on this photo)
- helmet: prince on griffon (Island of Blood box) + high elf lord (TOW)
- scabbard: vanari lord regent (AOS)

Horse
- body: brand's oathbound (AOS)
- head: freeguild cavalier-marshal (AOS), high elf lord for the dragon (TOW - not visible on this photo)
- scale mail: high elf lord (TOW)
- breast armor: high elf lord cape (TOW)
- wings: Azrael (40k)

Dark Elf
- dreadlord on black dragon* (AOS)

Cold One
- body: aggradons lancers (AOS)
- « spine » armor plates: cold one knights* (AOS). Each plate is actually a full cold one breast plate (shows how much smaller they were … )
- shin armor: dark elves executioners* (AOS)
- metals horns and forehead plate: dreadlord on black dragon* (AOS)
>>
>>98626643
I dont know. If they came back it would have to be in a new edition.

The journal format leads to less exciting releases, but its also less feast and famine as multiple factions can get incremental updates, instead of one faction getting a lot, then another getting a lot, and so on. So I dont imagine its going away, the HH format is probably here to stay.

My Lahmian Vampire Counts list is nearing completion but I need ONE more unit pick to round out the roster. I don't like any of the non infantry models though, something about the undead cavalry/monster options is leaving me cold aesthetically. I like putting together vampire characters but I'm at my hero limit already. Coven Throne feels natural for Lahmians but I just can't stand the model - it looks untransportable and so very fiddly. So I thought about buying some of those AoS ghouls-riding-bats and converting them to have the riders be vampires instead. Run them as Vargheists. But the bat models are a bit cartoony with their skeletal wings and they have generally weird proportions. Could always just do direwolves and bat swarms using cheapo Reaper miniatures but that feels like admitting defeat in some small way. This whole enterprise just started as an excuse to paint all the Evil Lady miniatures I'd been amassing.

Warriors are a militia tier unit. They are like conscript, you dont actually want to use them if you dont have to. Longbeards are your actual line infantry.
That said taking 80 dwarf warriors in a single unit sounds fun and fluffy.
>>
>>98627084
Hey, nice idea actually. Carmilla, the book which Lahmian lore pulls from, has the title vampiress riding in a stagecoach at the start of the story so there's some threads I could pull on there maybe... Just need to find a model since I don't think GW is selling it anymore. Thanks anon!
>>98627097
As time elapses, I find myself slowly admitting that I kind of like alternative rulesets. With the original lore, of course! Like it's not a deep ruleset but I can reliably get the local boomers to play OPR regiments with me, and you can field units without rules/weird conversions (like the tomb kings light/heavy cavalry split that anon mentioned) in-system since the rules are so permissive. But then the lack of classic Warhammerisms in the rules bums me out and I go back to GW.

nurgle seems like the best chaos mark as far as i can tell

battlemarch is smaller, but it also has some bonus narrative rules and escalation rules in the battlemarch document for starting very small like 400pts, and then expanding up to 750 as you go. it kind of functions as both a small game format and as a narrative skrimish campaign depending on how you want to do it, although you can just go right to the 750 battles if you just want some small format battles.

battlemarch also has some extra restrictions on unit choices and points per unit to keep things from getting out of hand so somebody doesnt bring a 500pt dragon and just roflstomp little timmys 10 man orc squads with an 70pt orc boss or something

The characters are overblown sure, but you can get a perfectly serviceable Butcher or two out of the Cleavers unit(bonus points if you can persuade a local Sigpiggy to split the box with you allowing you to discard the female mini without losing any money), and the Tyrant with a couple of tweaks makes for a decent unit leader for the Ironguts(which neatly takes them to four models to form a full rank in 6th edition). The rest of the characters are overblown nonsense that don't belong in WHFB anyway, while the infantry are all a straight upgrade and mostly rank up fine on squares. Mawtribes army set, extra couple of boxes of Gluttons, and a box of Cleavers will get you a solid Ogre army with a little converting to turn the leftovers Gluttons into Maneaters.

Yeah I would either bring it by him or don't just surprise it on him. No idea if giants are meta currently in TOW but people have had a bit of fun with their Meows and Chaos Dragons lately, but just run it by them so not a super shock.

>>
>>98628009
Not that anon, but I think that’s one of the understated criticisms of AoS is that they make things too serious even at the expense of a richer world. Man Eaters can be very silly, but they’re another layer to the nomadic nature of Ogres, and make them less one note as brutish cannibals, showing them assimilating in a wide variety of cultures. I think the AoS refresh looks great on a technical level, but making their new lore centered on an internal civil war and involved characters shrinks the Ogre’s world and makes it less exciting.

Normally there is two approaches but the general principal is mixing expensive, utter murder units with uber monsters and a sprinkle of cheap marauders.

>go hard meta
Utter cutthroat and go with the optimal choices. Marauders for anvil, dragon ogres, chaos knights/chosen knights, giant chaos spawn and a lord/champion on dragon or steed. Throw in a sorcerer and you're good.

>mix of comp meta and flavour
I cannot speak for now but the amount of points you out into standard Chaos Warriors was inversely proportional to your chance of winning i.e more warriors, more chance of losing.

You can mix a unit of them in for flavour and make up for it with meta choices but there are a few traps when making WoC.

Off the top of my head, your best choices are:

- Chaos Knights/Chosen Knights
- Giant Chaos Spawn
- Dragon Mounted Champion
- Sorcerer
- Dragon Ogres
- Warhounds to screen important units
- Marauder Horsemen
- Semi viable but Marauder bricks on foot
>>
>>98626991
the only insane thing is that every armor plate on the spine of the cold one is actually the chestplate of an old cold one kit...
>>
>>98629297
Because their models didnt have them (they had spears or hand weapons, thats it), which is reasonably in line for most infantry frankly. Chaos warriors are the exception.

If you want an in universe reason? Because saurus are super samey on purpose, theyre not mindless but theyre one track, designed as expendable and interchangeable peons, which is why simple weapons designed for ranked formations and uniformity are their goto.

Balance reasons? The lizardman army has very clearly defined roles and niches between all of its units. Fast and cheap skinks that dont hit very hard, durable but slow saurus, expensive and hard hitting monsters. Having saurus be super flexible could ruin that.

Thankfully there are alternative proxies, 3d proonts and grogs like me with armies old enough to vote, we don't really need to pay those prices.

Sounds good anon. The chaos army has so much customisation, I love it. The variety is one of the main draws for me too. That and the old magic spells, which the author seems to have massively fleshed out too. I love that a wizard can cast a swirling poisonous cloud that moves across the table and the opposing wizard can wind blast it back in his face, or a wizard can freeze a lake to allow his troops to cross and the enemy wizard can fireball it to thaw it out. So much fun. I think the only thing that I miss from the modern ruleset is the Give Ground/FBIGO stuff, but that could be easily houseruled in I'm sure.
Nice to know there is another renaissance chad in the general though. Cheers!

Dark Elves - Regular raids
Chaos - Massive issues
Ogres - will have battles on the frontier at times
Chaos Dwarves - again not that far from the Cathayan frontier lands
Skaven - Eshin known to be in the area
Orcs and Goblins - everywhere
Vampire Counts - Jade Blooded - although not in the VC list you can easily proxy them
Wood Elves - can easily make up a wood elf realm in Cathay

That's at least half the factions you can make up battles with Cathay with.

It's funny, I was just thinking back about how I used to go down to the local hobby store just to look at the Zombie Dragon / Terrorgheist kit they had on their shelf. GW is selling that same box decades later. Same price too. I still want one. GW players have been conditioned to expect a relatively quick turnaround cycle where armies are updated and refreshed every couple years, but for most manufacturers, even GW themselves, a good kit is basically immortal. Sculpts don't go stale as such, molds m deteriorate a bit over time but that's mitigatable. Decades-old models are often some of the best available, and still being actively manufactured. There's something that's almost morally admirable about that in a medium, that miniatures are "mature" enough for a Good One to exist forever instead of getting inevitably ousted by newer ones.

The thing is, the dark elves canonically have so much success raiding cathay (and ind, and the other eastern nations) that they almost gave up their blood feud with the high elves to just make it their full time gig.

Dark elf raids there arent just "oh some ships go missing", theyre entire towns being taken, names erased by the map, either by the dark elves or the people looking to erase the memory of what the dark elves did there. This is of course also true of dark elf invasions in the old world, but it seems to be a much bigger issue in the east.

Well I wouldn't know since I never actually bought it. But fair enough, maybe it's a poor example. Maybe take the metal Orc Shaman or the mini for Krell, perhaps? They're old as hell and drip with character, and there's nothing which modern technologies could really add to either figure.

The tech has advanced but the quality and creation doesn't match up with that. There's plenty of people who produce nice, print ready models on their own. AoS is a total shit show but it shows where quality can go, although it is wildly questionable if people care for the product or not (many people using the models as proxies in other games, vs shit no one will touch like Balloon Dwarfs and Mud Empire).

Vidya, music, movies, novels, etc. Most of it took a nose dive in the last 10 years for some reason despite tech getting better. I'm not going to sit here and say why though, I just think no one is stopping or telling many peeps their shit is shit or companies are cutting corners too hard. It was funny seeing how TW:W3 actually regressed several times over because they couldn't figure out what the last guys did.

People want updates for models that are ancient as shit instead of the same revolving door stuff getting updates. 40k has it even worse the TOW/WHF
>Dark Eldar range is almost all 15 years old and no update
>Eldar range doesnt need an update bar a few models but they do retarded release schedules like launching an aspect without its phoenix lord or the reverse in Asurman's case so you have new models next to shit old sculpts that do deserve a refresh even if other models (I.e. tanks) dont need it
>Marines get constant updates they dont fucking need
Now you can excuse this for 40k to some bullshit degree with the cope that marines print money. For WHF you cant really do that and it fucks people buying armies
>High elf spearman look like shit due to oversized hands (even for heroic scale) and thick af spear shafts that make them look liek crap vs their dark elf equivalent.
>This means if you want a unit and for it to not look shit you have to buy/convert proxies making it even more expensive and a pain in the arse
By your logic the person should suck it up when they rightfully should complain about the models still being shit and not updated and actively puts you off an army.

You can do this with the others as well (Im a WoC player so Im lucky as I have 3 ranges to pick from so my knowledge isnt even detailed either):
>cant make GW warriors or chosen with the current or AoS kit unless you buy a box of 5 chosen from AoS
>Beastman minotaurs look like crap and theres no doombull kit to match the options and the same is true with beastlords as you have no model and its annoying to convert one in some cases
>Centigors are tiny and have thick spear shafts that look retarded (their size doesnt excuse the degree of thickness)
This makes me give up on a BoC list using primarily minotaurs or even consider centigors.
>Dwarf slayers look like shit so you have to spend even more money on aoS proxies to convert from
1/2
>>
>>98632290
>a good kit is basically immortal
Sir the Blightkings box would like a word with you
>>
>>98632290
2/2
>Basically no kit for wood elf nobles or beast packs that dont look like shit
This basically removes those options from the list for people wanting to play those armies and depending on what they want this can kill any desire to make them.

Chaos is lucky and I say that as a WoC player but even that has issues if you want to farm specific god bits. I want to make a Tzeentch list but dont want to just have regular warriors but blue. Im basically stuck waiting for a kit in either TOW or AoS to farm bits from/run as Tzeentch Chosen.
>Just convert
Pain in the arse at full army scale and relies on scultping skills which for certain details isnt possible. Im not manually sculpting Tzeentch warrior heads 60+ times and even if I did itd look like crap.

People arent asking for new kits of good stuff, they want it to replace clearly dated crap that arguably didnt even look good when it came out let alone now, or they are blatantly obvious and in a different style/scale to the rest of the range amplifying the effect.

fuck it

3/3

Theres literally no model that comes close to this in the GW range for a minotaur bar maybe heavy conversion from the bloodbowl one.
>never matches the artwork
Theres degrees of being different to the art. The current minotaur models are shite and arent even close to this image to an acceptable degree. This alone means I will NEVER do a minotaur BoC army until theyre replaced. but I may be waiting 10 years before that ever happens. At that point I may as well fuck off and do another army. Most people also do this. I didnt bother thinking about chaos ogres as those metal sculpts whilst SOVLful af dont fit the aesthetic I want and will look tiny. I can now simply use the AoS kit and add chaos stuff as its reasonable level of work on my part. The unit may as well not exist. Same happened with the Chaos dragon until now.

I want to use the unit, but the models are too old. Theyre not the worst, theyre not minotaur level but when Im only tangentially interested in the army it doesnt hold my interest even if I like the idea and the art of the unit. The initial anon I was replying to vastly underestimates how much a quality model can make someone do an army or how much a bad one can kill that interest. I will eventually do a dorf fc army but Im not using slayers at all due to the models. Luckily theyre shit anyway so its not much of a loss.
>>
>>98633314
Yes but its goofyness will sell it for some people due to how it might fit BB. I think its shit for any conversion but its the only other option for a single character minotaur base to start working on that isnt 3rd party, and that enters an aesthetic issue as well with Perryfag being a prime example.

Not an empire or guard player but there’s something cool about regular men standing against unfathomable terrors and possibly even winning
>>
>>98634355
The reality of it though is that the army eats shit if you try to play honest so that mind set kinda gets shut down.
>>
>>98634362
Yeah sure, but tabletop rules are temporary. This feeling comes from the aesthetic/vibe/lore/models
>>
>>98634355
Indeed, the valour and fortitude of the nameless footman is unimaginably kino. It's the deeds of the Everyman against impossible odds that makes the Empire so based

>>98634193
You should play AoS if you care about big named centerpiece hero models and shit lmfao

She'll never going to get it anyway, she's a woman
>>
>>98634463
I remember when this set was incredibly hard to sell.
>>
Does anyone know why TOW doesn't have any real morale mechanics?
>>
>>98634362
Honestly empire with only men and guns is pretty solid.
Stupid amounts of static res and some of the best canons in the game.
>>
>>98634463
I'm genuinely curious why the sprues on this set were all mixed.
>>
I always feel a pinch when a kit goes OOP.
>>
>>98634599
What do you mean? It has panic and break tests and leadership as a whole individual stat.
>>
>>98633571
no, it makes sense. just read the lore
>>
>>98632865

Damn you have shit aesthetics then
>Oh man I can't wait to play this new human faction
>Except there's too many humans and not enough Randian Giggerslob Warspanics :(

Putting more emphasis on naval conflict would do a lot to tie the east and west together, and it also provides an opportunity to differentiate TOW from WHFB.

As an example, if we look at the Empire as a naval power in TOW, it's radically different from the Empire in WHFB. Marienburg is ascendant and other power centers like Altdorf, Middenheim, Nuln and Talabheim are afterthoughts. A flotilla might not bring the same weaponry that a land army would. Cannons might be brought along, but would steam tanks? Would discrete units of riflemen be as common, or would something like the mixed loadouts of the free companies be more prevalent? And with the centers of Sigmar's and Ulric's respective cults deemphasized, should Manann feature more prominently?

You can take that kind of thinking and apply it to other factions.

The hell are wrong with her kneepads?
I was just working on an Empire general on Horse, the plastic kit, and he has fucking comet tails sticking out of the sides of his kneeguards.
>>
>>98624363
Its probably a retcon, but you could easily write Cathay and the Helves as rivals/enemies fighting over the seas and aiming to become the dominate naval power.

Its canon that Ulthuan ships have sunk human fleets before to keep them from going to Lustria. How would they react to Cathay outright refusing to accept Helf dominion over the seas?
>>
>>98632865
Of all places to find that in C7 shit should be the least surprising.
>>
>>98635132
I have heard it’s gotten better in 5e. There is 4e reused art and mostly that is pozzed but the new stuff is mostly ok for the non tow rpg
>>
>>98633033
>vs shit no one will touch like Balloon Dwarfs and Mud Empire
Regardless of your personal thoughts on them, they're one of GW's most popular new factions
>>
>>98635031
>>98635045
Naval rivalries would be a great way to take it. Of course, it has the problem of ship stuff being basically irrelevant to the game itself, but, hey, it's cool. You can obviously tell how GW is just kind of freewheeling the direction especially with how terrible Cathay's integration into the 'old world' part of the name, with primarch lady going to the old world when her whole thing is defending the great wall. They can't even keep that shit straight when it's lore they made up like 4 years ago, it's embarrassing

Don't even joke, I wouldn't put it past them. How on earth have the weird Tumblr social justice weirdos from 15 years ago managed to so fully infect and infiltrate culture with their 'inclusive' nonsense and 'sensitivity readers'. Why do companies think this brings them any more sales at all? Because it doesn't.
