>>98634446>TQ: After all this time what do you think of the Warmaster titan?honestly kinda cringe and stupid, its just another "bigger batman" it feels like someone took a warlord titan and went "Yeah but whta if we made it bigger!" like an emperor? 'NO NO Smaller then that"I dont see the reason for it to exist other then being bigger warlord, same with the nemesis titan.
>>98634502The warbringer was a decent concept executed poorly. An uparmored reaver with a warlord's arm gun on the carapace isn't a bad idea for a battle titan. Just the idea of it being an artillery platform like that isn't just all titans is redundant, and the two choices you get for the carapace are also lame. If you could put a plasma annihilator up there it'd be sweet.
How is adeptus titanicus vs titandeath? Is it like battletech vs alpha strike? I'm looking to get into some titan action.
>>98634621You mean the LIgma mode? Titanicus is slower paced with more detail and unit management. I've only seen LIgma played but it gets pretty killy.
>>98634570This looks retarded because the arms are too short.
I love Warhounds (Audax my beloved) but a normal between the legs honour banner for them is the size of a postage stamp. With the smallest available 0.55mm nib I can just about caligraphise the name of the titan onto it or I'll have to spend a long time practicing how to do it with a fine detail brush.I'm talking about a simplified banner if I was doing a full banner with everything going on that size I'd need one of those lasers chinks use to make semiconducters. The alternative is to put a larger version on a banner pole from the titan's back but that won't work for the maniple/pack command Warhound as I was going to already have it carry a parade banner (a big ass standard basically) on its back. >>98634621Titandeath is a simplified ruleset for titans in Legions Imperialis (titans in LI are already simplified compared with Adeptus Titanicus). My advice if you want to have plenty titans in a combined arms game or something fun like a titan force vs super-heavy tanks sporting similar weaponry just dropkick the limitation on how many titans you can take off a cliff and run a Collegia Titanica formation like an Axiom Maniple in a normal Legions game.

Anyone know if the assault mkII chain axes are the same size as the current 40k khorne berzerkers?
>>98634744They're bigger. Both look off, with bad proportions.
>>98634502Nah bad take. It looks cool as fuck, I like that they added more sizes of Titan, it just works. If the Warlord is a Cruiser this is the Battlecruiser.
>>98634502To be fair, there's a lot of room between a Warlord and an Emperor.

Last thread replies, holy shit that one blew up>>98631861If I cared a source was retarded I wouldn’t have many sites to use. >>98635119I'm fine with them being relatively widespread for late heresy and common by the Siege of Terra. I'm not a fan of Shred. Especially AP- Shred (6+).Shred is wasted on so much infantry. And as for the big things, AP- bounces off them.I get that it is essentially "Armourbreaker for non-vehicles", but extra damage is seldom wasted on vehicles. Meanwhile, Shred is often on things you'd use against chaff.I'd rather have Shred be S+1 if you roll an X to hit. Pow, chainswords wound on 3s sometimes.
>>98635990I'd rather chainswords didn't have special rules at all. Like they did for 20 years. The "buff" you faggots are looking for is just letting units forgo volley fire for +1 attack on the charge, because while I like the idea, if you're not a terminator, gunslinger, or mechanicum unit volley fire doesn't do shit for you 99% of the time
>>98635119No.
>>98635341Not until post dropsite, but they had some beakie prototypes I guess
Has FW stopped producing new legion specific unit sets like gorgons or immortals?
>>98636024There'll never be another fw resin mini bucko, environmental regulations in the UK killed it
>>98636024>FWDoesn't exist anymore, it got rolled into GW and they only make plastic kits now. So no more special legion units only generic stuff.
>>98635990Chainswords need to go back to being basic melee weapons. Same with bayonets, those should just be cosmetic like they've always been. This isn't some skirmish game where there's enough room for the granularity to have a difference between a butter knife and a fork.
>>98636037What's the last resin (30k) model they made? I feel like that can't be right.
>>98636039Agreed. Would you make chainaxes basic too?
>>98636050GW still makes resin 30k characters, I forgot to add that.
>>98636053Honestly, yes. But maybe -1 initiative +1 strength is also acceptable, so WEfags can still feel special.
>>98636050probably daemon angron?
>>98635990Shred itself goes against simplicity.Just give chain weapons S+1 across the board then>>98636008Not going to lie, the goal is to make several weapons equivalent to one another. Just like Power fists are equivalent to Thunder Hammers and Chsinfists, which used to be upgraded power fists, I would like chainswords to be equivalent (or at least half a step closer) to Power Swords.Instead of currently being "fuck! I can't take a REAL weapon". That is no niche.Chainswords look cool, but if they are effectively equivalent to bare fists then they aren't cool to use.>if you're not a terminator, gunslinger, or mechanicum unit volley fire doesn't do shit for you 99% of the timeMy separate idea for bayonets is letting the weapon they're mounted on do volley fire (but you gotta use their profile that first round of combat). They would let Tacticals volley like termies (eh), but they'd make lots of sense on Seekers, which can take them but currently no one buys them. And I swear I've seen plasma guns and autocannons with bayonets, so there's precedent for letting bayonets be more widespread. As for ditching all that nonsense and just getting a +1A, TSS and Tacticals used to get optional CCWs, right? So there's precedent.Math Optimization is the ruin on which Simplification is built upon.
>>98636177>I would like chainswords to be equivalent to Power Swords. This is the most retarded opinion I've read in a while.
>>98636177>but you gotta use their profile that first round of combat)The profile of the bayonet, I mean. And most bayonets are a knife attached to the barrel, so, a CCW.So, that would matter mostly only for sergeants. They'd usually use a pistol and a proper blade instead.
Is there any way to salvage this model?
>>98636200Why would artificer mkvi need hackjob bonding studs?
>>98636182Despite all 40k vast list of mistakes, the one thing they managed was to make chainswords not be useless against power armour, even if power weapons are still better.>Then go to 40kTake what works, ditch what doesn't.

>>98636182Thunder hammers and chainfists are now the same as power fists. It's this edition's thing, there's precedent
>>98636182While you charged your power sword batteries I studied the chainsword.
>>98636290That's not nearly the same thing retard, that's like trying to conflate power weapons and power fists: retarded when 40k tried it, retarded when you try it
>>98636290Thunder hammers, chainfists, and power fists have always been the same tier of weapon. Just like all the power weapons like swords, axes and maces are their own tier of weapon. Chainswords are below all of those, and always have been. They are weapons designed to massacre the inferior foes that the legions faced during the Great Crusade, which marines are forced to use against one another because the Imperium is uncapable to produce enough power weapons. That's the entire point.
>>98636242its still salvageable with a lot of work.
Man there's just something to the idea of making a whole veteran company with vet despoilers, tacticals, breachers, assaults, and heavy supports. If I didn't already have 3 armies and wasn't worried about all the vet units never existing again outside of 3rd I'd build an ultramarines army
>>98636383Why keep the goofy cleaver at that point?
>>98636383cool conversion but why put him on an ever higher base? cryingemoji

>>98636059WE are indeed special.
>>98636683How else would you know he's a HIGH ranking marine if he can't even reach his primarch's crotch?
>>98636200This one? No. The axe guy? Absolutely, hes pretty cool actually.
>>98636410Tacticals and despoilers are just the old vet unit split into two. Assault vets are new, but theyre also just a command squad in older editions.HSS vets are just HSS. The only unit without as much of a 1:1 translation in older editions are breacher vets.
>>98636887Veteran heavy support squads are also brand new.
>>98636899Veteran heavy support squad are just HSS/TSS with two wounds. They are, models and options wise, either TSS or HSS with a different statline.
>>98636903Then breacher vets also aren't new, because those are just breachers with 2 wounds and an extra WS. And still with all the old weapon options breachers had.
>>98636200which legion
>>98636200Use the following method:>Step 1: remove the model from the sprue using clippers>Step 2: throw it in the fucking trash where it belongs and get a proper looking miniature instead
>>98636921Asking in general but I play Word Bearers
>>98636909Well, sorta. But vet breachers have (and often are built with) all power weapons/lots of power weapons. And iirc vets and command squad couldnt take breacher shields, so the combination of "melee weapon" and "breacher shield" is new.
>>98636961NTA but I am not personally a fan. I think the pose is silly, the sword is garish and the volkite-charger looks bad when held like that. If you wanted to try "fix" it? Obviously swap the head out for something better, replace the sword with something else, maybe a demonic blade held aloft like that? And personally I would go with an open offhand alongside a holstered gun. Add some backpack decorations and you could have a pretty neat WB.
>>98636019AL had them at Stevie V per pic relatedbut Extermination names the Salamanders and Iron Warriors as having it before the mass trial of the armour by the Raven Guard during the Scalland campaign (p134)so I guess get fucked lorelets
>>98636978Command squads could in fact take boarding shields in previous editions.
>>98637012Oh, well then depending on how you built your vet breachers you could use them as that. Sucks for whoever built them with lascutters (everyone) but hey ho, its something.
>>98635990shred means chainswords can kill legion terminators outright 1/72 with one attackwithout shred the same chainsword is at 1/1296 to kill the same terminator (and needs 2A to achieve it)in case you're fucking shit at understanding basic probability that's 1/2 to hit, 1/6 to Shred, 1/6 to fail save for the first example, and 1/2 to hit, 1/3 to wound and 1/6 to fail save, which you must do twice in each case, for the second exampleto achieve these answers we multiply each numerator (number before the slash, on top of the 'fraction') together - in each case, resulting in 1; and we multiply each denominator (bottom number) together - 2*6*6 for 72 and 2*3*6 for 36; but since we need to do that twice to get the same damage over, we can take that second product of 1/36 and repeat the process for 1/1296, a number so unlikely it sounds made up and which makes brutal (2) termihams make senseshred is fine, all of you fuck off with this grade school shit
>>98637018>Sucks for whoever built them with lascuttersWhat you mean with this? Veteran breachers can take lascutters, and lascutters are finally good.
>>98636383Looks neatHow did you learn/practice to paint his ailette?I really love that detail
>>98635990I think shred is a fine rule, its just largely useless on chainswords (which is an issue given chainswords are one of the most iconic weapons in the game, can be one of the most common, and are sort of the posterboys for shred). The solution would be to give chainswords rending rather than shred, but that sort of goes against "logic" because a lot of "chainsword derivatives" still have shred (nostraman chain weapons for example) and chainswords have always had shred.
>>98637030>What you mean with this?In a hypothetical scenario where suddenly 4e comes around or whatever, and all of the new veteran units go away (unlikely, but the premise), the guys with shield + melee weapon can be used as command squad with the boarding shields. But command squads cant take lascutters, so that will be an issue for the people who built their vet breachers that way.
>>98637046This isn't even speculation at this point but pure fanfic.
>>98637021>shred means chainswords can kill legion terminators outright 1/72 with one attackOkay. Thats still not very significant and not a situation units armed with chainswords want to be in anyways. So it doesent really matter. The intended target for assault marines and despoilers (the units that use chainswords) are 1w power armor troops, because terminators and ws5 dudes (which is what most 2w models are) will beat them bloody regardless. Therefore to work for the units that have them, chainswords need to help into regular power armor, which they currently do not. Theres ways to fix it, give them rending maybe, give despoilers and assault marines something like fury of the legion which specifically gives them some bonus to chainswords. Give them +1S, give them +1A, give them breaching, whatever. But as is theyre not great which is a shame.
>>98637021I would prefer shred to be +1 to the wound roll
>>98636200Turn and lower the right wrist so the sword is raised for a strike. Outstretch the left arm to balance the pose, or have it holding a shield, or have it pointing the gun. Replace the sword with something better, but that's one of the best volkite chargers in the range
>>98636200Yes, you need to realize that it was pretty much an Emperor's Children character sold as generic. All that gaudy bling, the anime sword, the 3 small skulls (from small children...)Same for the axe praetor (all that leather...), except that it's more ambiguous. It's backpack, however, was designed for a WB chaplain.
>>98636242This one is a mess too. See >>98637104The helmet was clearly designed for a Blood Angel, for example
>>98637086Alternativly remove the sword entirely and make it a herald holding the flag aloft
>>98637104Holy fuck you're right, in EC colours the models just makes sense somehow.
>>98636961WB mkVI head and pauldron, crest if you want, leave off the cloak, leave off the praetor arms and pauldrons, lose the veteran icon on the top of the backpack, cut out and keep the skull trophies, get more trophies - bird skulls and feet in the 40k RG kit, trinkets from Red Corsairs, Scarab Occult emergency belt scrolls whatever, new belt roundel (the sattie praetor has one that'll fit and be spare), CSM Legionaries one-handed bolter (or another weapon from any kit) and daemon sword (paragon blade lol), arms from rapier crew, second pauldron from idk mkVI tacticals I guess
>>98637104Given that the ugly eagle in the torso of the sword praetor is very very close to the one found in the Saturnine termies, my bet is that originally they were designed as part of the same set.The ordnance-like icons in his armour makes me think it was supposed to be an EC Siege breaker before they lost their wargear options. The also gaudy as fuck Saturnine Praetor would have been the leader.
>>98637066Thats just hatred, and how would it work with shred that isnt 6+? This change would also just break a lot of different special weapons, NL chain weapons, IH axes, carsoran power weapons, etc. compromise: shred IS +1 to wound, or maybe even "always wounds on at least X+", current shred is replaced with "ravage", which does what current shred does.
>>98636993Newer fluff seems to be that many (all?) legions field tested the prototypes and gave feedback. Production models began to be issued to legions prior to HH. Also, the AL stole early prototype specs to make their variant, which is closer to the prototype (with AL made modifications) than the final production model MkVI.
>>98637192Can they ever not wank DA?
>>98637104It just fits.
>>98637192The bottom line is that MkVI was limited to a few units among the legions at the start of the HH. Even RG. Only later it became common when they began replacing losses with fresh inductii.MkVI was apparently easier to make than mkIV. We have examples of RG, WS, SoH and IF inductii wearing it.
>>98637245>MkVI was apparently easier to make than mkIV.Yes, that has always been the case in the lore. Mk IV used lots of rare materials and difficult tech, maintaining it was such a hassle that Mk VI development began even as Mk IV was still being distributed across the legion forces.
>>98637245>MkVI was apparently easier to make than mkIVYeah no shit mkiv is the objectively best performance mark, only downsides are expensive to produce and high energy usage
>>98637285Its the volkite/sicaran of armor marks. Objectively better than the alternatives, too expensive to use over the alternatives.
>>98637192In my head lore my fleet intercepts a shipment that was planned for Blood Angels. There was a small shipment so only the veteran elites wear the mkVI armor (Terror squads and Raptors) and occasionaly some line trooper or sergeant who won it as a trophy in the battle pits). The "it was always there" way GW introduced for pretty much anything that was rare in rarlier lore disgusts me so I decided to keep it as it should be. For example I (will) have only one Saturnine terminator that is a part of a Cataphractii unit (and will be played as a Cata since we play only 2.0). 3d printed in a smaller scale because the original is stupidly big.
>>98637509>Mixing terminator armoursRope.

>>98636019For me the canon for HH lore starts from the Black Books. So if something contradicts them then it's wrong. In this case the RG might not have fielded entire chapters of mk. 6 clad marines but some squads defiantly were outfitted with it
>>98637021>chainswords can kill legion terminators outright 1/72 with one attackHis essentially means you make one more unsaved wound to terminators once every game per 20 Despoilers. The very definition of insufficient. But that simply means Termies aren't chainswords' intended target. That's fine.Their target is multi-wound models (so not GEQ) with 5+ save (so not MEQ+), in a game without Orks. So... praying one Militia player brings Ogryn?>>98637040Yeah. Shred made the gap between chainswords and power swords the shortest there's even been.Their *could* be one precedent: Chainswords' getting old Rending (so, breaching 6+) could maaaybe connect the dots to the long-lost Eviscerator, which was AP2.But nobody's seen one since gathering storm. Instead of just being a Divisio Militaris banner for the maniple I can fit the maniple stuff plus all the essential features from the command titans honour banner, an allegiance jack and the maniple mottoThey also are unique designs outside the normal design language of regular titan banners. I'm trying to come up with embellishments based on abstract mathematical symbols.

>>98639894Because they are. The thudd gun was a quad barrel quick firing light field gun that that supported infantry more directly then a Bombard or Basilisk. They basically were the same role as pic related. So then is the Quad Launcher although idk the fluff on its travel speed

i wanna paint a second army to use as a loaner to get people into the gameI've got like 70 mkii marines as well as various weapon upgrade frames (disintegrators, lascannons, autocannons, special weapons, chainswords). I think I have some mkiii and mkvi too.what legion should I paint them as? any type of army list that works well as an infantry heavy vibe?
>>98640733Unironically Grey Legion, so they can be whatever loan force you need them to be.But proper grey. Not necessarily shiny, but metallic
Isn't this plasma design a little too 40k?
>>98640733>>98640745Grey legions? JUST paint them up as knights errants.
>>98634899God, I hope GW releases a canon Emperor class and It is just something bigger than a warlord/warmaster, instead of this "gazillion bajillion yards tall". So many people will be so fucking pissed in their autism.
>>98640452Wow even full Magi lost gun options. What's the point of scoring if you can't shoot from the objective?
>>98640789Nah, 40k plasma has a pilot light as if it was a flamethrower
>>98640789Anon... don't be a retard. All technology in 40k has its origins in HH, the Great Crusade, or even earlier.Except primarshit obviously, but all that garbage isn't real nor canon.
>>98640812Obviously, but 30k plasma generally has a pretty distinct look even if 40k plasma technically exists just like the land raider.
>>98640815No, that's purely GW jewing out and wanting to keep the model ranges between games segregated and distinct from each other. Mars pattern plasma weapons already exists and was in use, same for the phobos land raider, mars pattern Rhino etc. What you see in GW's promotion material is not lore. There's more stuff period accurate besides the things you find in boxes that got GW's stamp of Warhammer: Age of Darkness: The Horus Heresy
>>98640559>no dual assault cannon arm for leviwhy live
>>98640789The design harkens to what is now an oldhammer-middlehammer ranging aesthetic for plasma, which is largely kosher for heresy (with the exception of a few big things like mk7).Interesting how your mindset is so influenced by a specific facet of the marketing that it has looped back around into a generalised resistance to the product.
>>98640879Nah I just like 30k to look distinct.
>>98640884Damn, you really have been thoroughly brainwashed by marketing speak.
>>98640812Not all technology. Many STCs or applications of old tech were only added millennia later.>>98640826The opposite is also true. FW and GW handwaved using 40k designs in the HH out of convenience even when it doesn't make sense or it contradicts their own lore. The 40k plasma guns were always post HH designs, with CSM using old patterns but still newer than the ones used back them.
>>98640789Yes. It looks like the plasmas on primaris and new IG stuff. Heresy plasma should've been proper chodes like on Plague Marines and FW Scimitars.
>>98640966Frankly I can see why they changed that design.phimosis looking fuckers.
>>98640972Except for the parts where they didn't.
>>98640966The real reason for the change was problably related to plastic injection. The new design requires 2 halves to make a cannon, and the old one would have needed a third one for the tip.
>>98640136>Is tartaros the best terminator armour then based on the same metrics?Probably? Either it or cata. Indomitus is garnage, but remained in service because it was the comparatively easiest one to make.
>>98640988Plague marine plasmas come in one piece. Nothing stops them from scaling it up a bit and if needed, cutting it in half like all the other heavy weapons. They were able to make single piece dick plasmas in plastic in the 80s. I don't know what has changed that would make it impossible today.
>>98640966Nah, those look like ass.
>>98641013>Plague marine plasmas come in one pieceSo those plasmas are 40k design as well, good to know.
>>98638139>That's an absolute retard take, you're drinking filtered water instead of raw sewage

>>98640966Love how simplistic yet neat those FW paintjobs were.
>>9864101340k DG plasma guns are very flat, and the old AT ones lacked detail.Old plasma cannons cannot be done without a third part, like in the Russ Annihilator
>>98641256Literally just cut it in half like any other heavy weapon. You get the hole in the muzzle and have the halves of the top and bottom vent indent. What else do you need? Surely you can tweak tiny details if you need. Since when have plastic versions been 100% 1:1 accurate?
I think saturnine units are growing on meI don't want this fate
>>98641282Well at least some one likes them, I still personally think they are wildly overcoated and underwhelming for that cost.
>>98641297I still don't want the starter because of the turret. wtf were they thinking?
>>98641273Anon, it cannot be done in plastic with just 2 parts without losing too much detail. It's harder than it looks.
>>98641297Then you haven't seen saturnine units in game. Saturnine command squads can beat down custodes in melee, regular saturnine have excellent infantry clearing firepower, and the heavy plasma bombard and inversion beamer on the saturnine dread are downright oppressive. And they all are so difficult to remove they almost never getting killed before earning their points value, unless the opponent wastes an entire turn pouring most or all their army's firepower into them (which means the rest of your army goes unmolested)
>>98641090>Please don't argue with the retard that has his own arbitrary set of what is canon HH, it makes zero sense and will constantly change so that you are wrong. So GW?

>>98641357>. Saturnine command squads can beat down custodes in meleeWell yea, thats sort of what theyre designed for. Theyre not very effective into normal command squads mind you. The biggest issue with saturnines is and remains that they are always hyper-specialized and very slow, which means they want to do very specific engagements and have issues getting those engagements a lot of the time. Theyre fine units, actually pretty well designed - doing well at their own niche and standing apart from normal terminators while not replacing any previous units - but theyre definetly "underwhelming" if you came in expecting the new hotness/must have staple unit.
>>98640789Idk what other anons mean in their replies. To me it just looks like the HH Plasma Cannon.>>98640901GW's model range is a great big ever-turning wheel within another bigger wheel inside an inertial reference system connected to a retrofitted flight computer of fluff>Forge World makes 28mm verrsions of things from Epic and reimagined RT era designs. >GW makes rules for them and plastic kits>These are either specifically heresy era vehicles or stuff applicable to HH like the Shadowsword>Maybe as a treat 40kfags get Imperial Armour rules for them. The wheel turns. There's a similar situation with lore where for example GW will take 3 characters who were loyalists at Istvaan 3 in the original 1991 HH fluff (Macer Varren, Nathanial Garro and Saul Tarvitz) and use them in an expanded role in the first black book and Visions. This itself is expanded on in BL novels etc.
>>98640966This one looks the same as the 40k 1st and 2nd edition metal plasma cannon.

>>98641521>keeps dodging the question to farm more (You)s
>>98634446My biggest problem is scale. When you look at the Super Star Destroyer in Star Wars, the modelers made pinprick windows to emphasize that this warship is at a different scale from everything else. The Warmaster doesn't have that feeling, despite having autocannons as ball turret AA defenses on its shoulders because everything else is scaled up.
>>98641737what question? There's no question. Only you being unable to understand that the old plasma cannon end cannot be done faithfully with just 2 parts, it needs a 3rd one or it looks like shit. Your own pic of the AT gun proves it >>98641013You'll also know it if you had a Leman Russ executioner. You could ask why GW didn't do that, and I could guess that the old resin Contemptor plasma cannon used a more 40k design, so GW though it would be good to use the same pattern for easy id across the new range, and avoid the 3rd bit. Which i don't like, btw.But instead you're just doubling down in being a dense contrarian retard for no reason.

>>98641523>The biggest issue with saturnines is and remains that they are always hyper-specializedHe just told you they aren't: they defeat every infantry possible, while needing antitank power to kill. Only actual vehicles don't have a 4++ to shrug off laser destroyers like they do

What would it look like?40k 7E Termies couldn't sweep, and they moved at the same speed everyone else, though that's no longer the case. Could they run?
>>98642278>they defeat every infantry possibleBut they DONT.Yes, theyre very tough, but theyre also very expensive and have low volume of attacks compared to other units because of it, couple that with going at I1 and the regular thunder hammer terminators do pretty well into them. Melee saturnines (with twin fists + flamers) beat veq if they get the drop on them (thanks to their flamers) and custodes (thanks to d3 fists and custards being bad vs high toughness/only D1), but they are quite vulnerable to thunder hammers and lightning claws. They are also INCREDIBLY slow, theyre m5 heavy or something. Which means any unit that doesent want to fight them in melee simply wont.
>>98642377>Could they run?Pretty sure they could, ye.
>>98642427>but they are quite vulnerable to thunder hammers and lightning clawsThe fuck are you talking about, thunder hammers wound them only on a 3+ and can't kill them in a single hit, and lightning claws rely on 6s to hit or wound dealing 1 wound a piece through a 4++. Forget on table experience, did you even look at the stats?
>>98642427Anon... are you pretending to be retarded?
>>98642427True, but many enemy units are also specialized for fighting (Vanguard), and literally can't do anything else but press forwards and fight.Properly used Saturnines attack that objective the enemy can't afford losing. Even at walking pace they cannot be ignored. And they got actually good guns on top of that, unlike most Legion-specific Cataphractii elites.Hammers don't do just okay into them, and the tide turns if it is Command Saturnine with cartoonishly oversized blades
Does anyone know of an STL for the tactical squad arms? I got this for the old boltguns but it doesn't come with the arms.
>>98642498>In before somebody says godwyn pattern isn't period accurate for HH
>>98642498godwyn pattern isn't period accurate for HH
>>98642454>The fuck are you talking about, thunder hammers wound them only on a 3+ and can't kill them in a single hit,Okay? And. Weight of attacks and going first are a big deal, saturnines are expensive as fuck and (with the weapon they SHOULD have) only wounding other terminators on 3s themselves, which coupled with their low volume of attacks (due to their cost) and the fact they are basically ALWAYS going 2nd (unless you went with the axes, but the axes kinda suck afaik so you shouldnt) means they suffer against the classic hammernator. They can hold their own, but theyre not favored against regular terminator command squads unless theyre phraetus with their EW(1). >and lightning claws rely on 6s to hit or wound dealing 1 wound a piece through a 4++Yea, thats what they ALWAYS do. Go have some dark furies charge your saturnines and watch as phraetus anointed disappear under a weight of rending hits
>>98641850>what question? Try actually reading the posts you're replying to.>cannot be done faithfully with just 2 partsCan you name a single issue with splitting pic related in half? All you need to do is adjust the corner vents a little. The side ones are ok and the top ones get cut in half. The rest of the body has nothing that cannot be done in plastic injection moulding.>inb4 more dodging and sperging
>>98642475>And they got actually good guns on top of that, unlike most Legion-specific Cataphractii elites.Yea, the flamers are really nice. But imo you shouldnt be giving your command squad the actual "guns" because of how badly you want to save cost on an already enormously expensive unit (especially since they NEED that saturnine praetor that costs the same as a land raider) and because of how much you NEED those extra attacks from twinned fists.
>>98642377>is there actually a middle point between Tartaros and Cataphractii at the same cost?well no because they're more expensive per model than either Tartaros or Cata because that's how Indo is made because when the squad loadout was set 40 years ago swords could parry so having one on a leader meant somethingwhat they are good at and what they should be good at is being 40k Terminators with power fists and storm shields and not even needing thunder hammers, just plonk them down on an objective the other guy has to try to take and squat there making Shieldwall whenever he charges; sure you're only ticking over one VP from them but he's not making anythey're huscarls for all legions but significantly cheaper and not limited to one unit
>>98642516>>98642522I'm just asking for the arms man.
>>98642377>is there actually a middle point between Tartaros and Cataphractii at the same cost?Welll... No, because what would that even look like? You cant really have "more protection than tartaros but less than cata" because one has a 5+ and the other has a 4+. The system isnt granular for a model of armor between the two.
>>98640993Remember when cataphractii was the only one that was different?
>>98642586"most of"
>>98642619Now look at the old rules, where there was only Terminator Armour and Cataphractii Terminator Armour. And in the WHC article it said the differences between Indomitus and Saturnine were cosmetic, both being functionally identical. So whatever terminators were different, it wasn't Tartaros, Indomitus nor Saturnine.
>>98642553>with power fists and storm shields and not even needing thunder hammers,One guy gets an assault cannon because assault cannons are cool
>>98642538The axes are pretty good actually. Going before thunder hammers outweighs the lower strength. And the real fun begins when some saturnine died and the reaping blow 2 activates. Thunder hammers need 2 hits to go through to get a kill, whilst any of the saturnine weapons only need 1 hit to go through to get a kill in return. Unless the thunder hammer squad has close to twice the number of models, command saturnines usually win out through attrition. Gambling on rending hits with lightning claws is a horrible idea. Need somewhere close to 36 attacks to kill a single command saturnine on average, so unless it's a full 10 man squad with lightning claws it's a big gamble.
>>98642835>And the real fun begins when some saturnine died and the reaping blow 2 activates. The issue is that as you said, they go first. So thats relying on taking the casualties from shooting or something. Not impossible, but not super reliable either. And even with reaping blow they have a similar damage output to paired fists from my napkin maths. Which isnt bad since you go first, but I feel like paired fists is still the goto (which is a shame, since the axes are very cool).
>finished Dark Angelscan sb explain to me what the hell El'Jonson's problem with Zahariel was at the end of the book? It was Luther who thought about doing nothing about the Saroshi bomb, but Zahariel acted the moment he noticed something's off and helped Luther remove the ship. Zahariel was loyal throughout the book and now he gets cast aside?the fuck did he doalso, I'm skipping ahead to A Thousand Sons
>>98642498>>98642562Space Warriors Basic Ranged Arms is okay.
>>98642910The reaping blow is already nice as a deterrent, really makes people think twice about charging command saturnine with more than one unit. And helps a lot in the second round of a combat, when you whiffed a lot of rolls the first round. From what I've seen so far the difference between axes and double fists is small enough that you can pick what you think is the coolest. One or two saturnine hammers is a must though, otherwise they'll struggle way too long with bringing down a dreadnought.
>>98642964Thats interesting to consider. I suppose I may be a bit pidgeonholed in terms of "seeing them for the purpose I want" (pulping fucking custodes).
>>98642922It was clear that they wanted to set up two plot lines in Descent of Angels, with Zahariel for the traitors DA point of view and Nemiel for the loyalists DA point of view. So Zahariel had to end up being send to Caliban, even if the writer forgot to include a good reason for it. Real shame all that set up was abruptly made irrelevant when Lion El' decapitated Nemiel for no good reason.
>>98642544>Can you name a single issue with splitting pic related in half? That exact shape cannot be replicated without splittilng the gun in 3 parts>All you need to do is adjust the corner vents a littleWrong. it wouldn't look the same. It's too small and beyond plastic injection tolerances. Which is why GW has never done it. All the plastic plasma guns since the fucking ork/GSC weapons sprue either remove the vent holes (2e plasma pistol) or flatten the design for the same effect (DG and HH plasma guns). Only metal/resin guns do not have that problem. But nooo, you have to be right despite almost 40 years of evidence. It must be a conspiracy to make you look like a fucking blind retard with zero spatial awareness.
Does interdiction cadre work in ZM?
>>98642977Fair. I let the saturnine praetor and master sergeant champion do most of the custodes killing, WS 6 saturnine hammers are great.
>>98642922>>98643017The DA HH plot line is pretty much a meandering waste of time with unsympathetic backstabbers thanks to Gav Thorpe, which seems to have hated the DA as much as he hated the Eldar. It's not as bad as the Salamanders books, or the pre-Ferrus IH stories, but it still gives the reader zero reasons to like the DA. Just like the Sallies and IH, the best DA stories are usually those part of novels not focused in them (like their Siege of Terra arc)
>>98643049>with unsympathetic backstabbersSo DA? Thats the DA, thats their thing. Theyre up their ass assholes who fuck everyone else over.
>>98643036Looks like it. Can't find any rules interaction that would prevent it. Seems very risky with how cramped and melee focussed ZM is though.
>>98643053But anon, I WANT my despoilers in melee.
>>98643052No, that's what Thorpe made of the DA in 40k and 30k, because he's a shit writer that doesn't understand that 1) 30k DA should felt different than their 40k version 2) backstabbers in fiction need to be entertaining so you can root for them. The NL or Erebus are assholes, but entertaining asssholes. Gav Thorpe's DA are just plain boring assholes with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
>>98643052They aren't unsympathetic backstabbers in the right way though, like Erebus is. When Erebus is stabbing people in the back, it's clear he has schemes and intentions behind it. With the DA, it's all just random with no rhyme or reason to it, purely just to move the plot in a direction that the writers wanted it to. Very immersion breaking really.
>>98643070Just make sure you aren't giving away vanguard points for free.
>>98642573>You cant really have "more protection than tartaros but less than cata" because one has a 5+ and the other has a 4+.You could have, back when Heavy actually improved survivability. But when rerolls (to Save vs Blasts) were deleted, Heavy became mere Ld+1 at the cost of 1. No Running, 2. No Sweeping, 3. Slower reposition reactions, and 4. Shorter charges. All of that for +1 Ld? Insufficient.Let Heavy worsen Breaching X by 1 (Breaching 5+ becomes 6+, etc). Now that would be noticeable. Then you could have Terminator armour that is like Tartaros but Heavy, without the 4++ of Cataphractii.
>>98643102Heavy only reduces set up distance and prevents running. There are no rules that reduce reposition reaction distance any more. It's the slow and purposeful rule that prevents pursuing fleeing units. And it's +1 cool, not +1 leadership.
>>98643102What was Tartaros lore and rules when it was introduced in the FW Badab war books? It was stupid that it got better rules than Indomitus. Like MkIV suits getting different rules from the others.
>>98643026The SA Executioner has it in three parts because the muzzle has more vents around it. On the Scimitar weapon you have 8, three on each side and ones on the top and bottom. The side ones can be easily replicated with a little tweaking (just like on all the other plasmas) and the top and bottom ones (along with the muzzle) are cut in half, each side of the piece creating one side of the hole. Something GW has already done in the past. I have no idea why this is so difficult for you to comprehend. But lets have it your way. Lets omit the top and bottom vent. So what? Did we lose something with that design change? Did plasmas stop being plasmas in 2e because they changed the vent arrangement?>All the plastic plasma guns since the fucking ork/GSC weapons sprue either remove the vent holes (2e plasma pistol) or flatten the design for the same effect (DG and HH plasma guns).Yes, because they came in a single piece. You do know that if you split the piece in two halves, you can have stuff on both sides of that piece. The opposite side doesn't have to be flat.>Only metal/resin guns do not have that problem. The LIgma model has no problems having vents all around the barrel despite being single piece plastic.
>>98643120First version of tartaros terminators could sweep, but had a 6+ invulnerable iirc.
>>98643140I keep hearing this, but browsing all the FW books only ever has them as regular Terminators.
>>98643117I don't think I'd be comfortable with Indomitus sweeping.
>>98643152It was in a digital rules publication, haven't been able to recover it. Those one page PDF rules FW used to do for a lot of their single new unit releases are extremely hard to find.
>>98642068>Give anon a suggestion for what to play if he wants a game with titans along with infantry instead of Titandeath>"just play AT"Big Brain I should add for that original anon you could also play Epic Titan Legions/2nd edition. It has more granular titan rules than modern LI. Or you could try Epic 3rd edition.I never used to like 3rd edition but it keeps growing on me over time. Every time I look at the rulebooks again I appreciate streamlined rules.
>>98643136>replicated with a little tweaking (just like on all the other plasmas)losing detail and becoming a suggestion of a hole>and the top and bottom ones (along with the muzzle) are cut in half, each side of the piece creating one side of the hole. Because it looks bad and it's difficult to fix unlike the split MkVI pauldrons>I have no idea why this is so difficult for you to comprehend. You haven't though properly about this.> Lets omit the top and bottom vent. So what? Then it's not the same design, which defeats the purpose.>The LIgma model has no problems See above. No details at all. The ONLY way to do it is with a 3rd part, which would be doable, but GW decided to avoid. Which is ironic given how much they love to increase the parts count in some kits.

>>98643175>No they haven't.It's literally how the plastic contemptor head is done. And now you're gonna go off on a tirade on how it looks bad, completely ignoring the fact it's done exactly the way I've been describing the process this whole time and you kept saying it cannot be done. Maybe even move the goalpost from "it cannot be done" to "it doesn't look good to me".>Then it's not the same design, which defeats the purpose.Yeah, plastic RT and 2e plasma might as well be just primaris plasma, because of one hole missing at the top. Great logic there, chief.
I'm kinda running out of Titan images for the OP, has anyone got some tight shit to share?

Any Mechanicum players around? I'd like to know how that faction plays like.Do they really just stick an Optae-equivalent on every unit they want to score with and call it a day?
>>98643779Yes.
>>98643644>I hate lucius designsSame brother
>>98643779Depends, many units don't need a tech priest around them, especially since attaching to automata or thallax or tech thralls comes with trade offs
>>98643644the lucius warhound is wonderful though
>>98643889But they don't do anything! They can't fight and now they can't shoot either.Though being independent characters now they can be on whichever unit you want, and Cybertheurgy works on everything nowadays...Maybe I'd keep them in Castellax Destroyer (Heavy Assault) units
>>98644149I thought automata like having Techpriests around? Especially with Cortex Controllers and Programming Override.Unsure why I'd have one in with Thralls when Castellax are on the same slot and aren't a gimmick.
>>98644205They're useful don't get me wrong, but having a character join an automata unit renders them vulnerable to tactical statuses, so you have to determine for yourself whether it's worth the risk. I usually leave forward units (vorax, vultarax, melta thallax, and domitars) and firebase units (thanatars and sometimes darkfire castellax and thallax) alone, and concentrate my magi into 2-3 midfield battle castellax units or thallax units
>>98644258NTA but those characters can still just cast cybertheurgy and battlesmith on units they aren't joined to, right?
>>98640733As others have suggested, paint the armour to resemble something that came straight off the production line. You could explain that these got freshly looted by whatever legion/are operated by clones/androids/are possessed, or whatever else you can think of, literally blank canvas. Running Night lords, and im at a bit of an impass as to what to pick up next to expand my collection. My current issues are that i find i lack Anti-Tank and good anti-terminator options, and i want to try and diversify my collection a bit. was thinking of maybe picking up a Deredeo and giving it the plasma, but i also had a stupid idea of throwing a Castra Ferrum with 2 flamestorms into a dreadnought drop pod, even though it accomplishes neither the anti-terminator or anti-tank role. Anyone got any recommendations for units that could fit Anti-terminator or anti-tank roles that work well with Nightlords or are just decent to good in general?Pic rel is a terror squad im in the middle of building using the 2nd edition FW Rotor cannons.

That is very Night Lords though.
>>98644724Anit tank deredeo would be the Arachnus heavy lascannon battery for popping AV13 /14 or just sneak in some las rapiers that are even better. Anti Terminator on the deredeo is Hellfire plasma cannonade (Maximal) for the breaching 4+ and dmg 2. For killing terminators you want AP2 and DMG2 weapons either in template form or weight of fire with lots of shots. Castaferrum you would run double plasma cannon on max fire as well.
Eh, maybe 3.0 isn't so bad. It is bland, to be sure. But when everyone's bland, at least it is balanced. There'll come codex bloat with new things, anyways.Sorry, "Journal" Bloat.

As a NL player your best bet to deal with terminators is night raptors + a status effect. You know what does good status effects? Rapiers (quad bolter, graviton cannon and phosphex mortar). >>98646251That lore bit is about the WB legion itself. Chaplains were initially introduced by the Chaplain Edict, issued by Malcador to enforce the psyker ban after Nikea and keep an eye on the spiritual well-being of their legion. It was after the events on Davin that Horus and Erebus used the Chaplain Edict to spread the warrior lodges and Chaos influence throughout the legions.

>>98645758>>98646251>>98646296Did the Chaplain edict also codify that they would all wear black armour and skull helmets?
>>98646356Actually yes! All-black armour means "Direct service to the Throne (over Primarchs and Legion)". This is the same reason why Sigismund gets his armour painted all black at the siege - he feels bad for obscuring his colors, and is given that explanation. The skull helm signifies power of life and death over his brothers: chaplains are allowed to punish and even summarily execute fellow legionaries. They were very much the equivalent of Commissars for the Legions, even if they never actually had summary execution rules. Then they lost Stubborn and Zealot in 3.0 whoops lmao
>>98646356No. Even in 40k it isn't a strict rule that chaplains must wear black armour and a skull helmet, even though they do in the vast majority of chapters.

>>98647916I just figure all the "misspellings" are just the result of 20,000 (or at least in this threads case, 30,000) years of words getting bastardized. Kind of like how "America" became "Merica" and "Brazil" became "Hy-Brazil" etc etc. Its like over the centuries words get misspelled, bastardized and forgotten and then rediscovered. And considering Latin is practically as dead language in our CURRENT era, seeing it completely spelled wrong and with wrong definitions for certain words and shit 30k years from wouldnt surprise me at all. Hell, the fact that it even still exists shocks me, but im willing to bet that was either the emperor himselfs doing or (more likely) Malcadors. They probably saved enough old books and shit to try and keep it going, and if the barbarians got it a little bit wrong, oh well at least their hearts in the right place, considering they had a LOT more important shit going on (IE: a Great Crusade and then a heresy to deal with.....)

>>98648101Arab has remained stable for 1500 years due to strict rules and the QuranChinese script had been there for 2k years, even if the pronunciation itself changedTamil is also largely the same because, just like Latin or 40k Gothic, an "official" version remains unchanged (and underused) while the majority speaks the popular version.Gothic is probably a newly developed Esperanto thing by M31 – the Imperium is only 200 years old, born from a 700 year long Unification. The Roman Empire spoke actual latin for longer (until they voluntarily switched to Greek because of snobs).
>>98648174Im not saying outright that youre wrong or anything, but you are comparing a couple thousand years to TENS OF thousands of years. Also, sure, those people had wars and genocides and huge destructive events, but in the 30-40,000 years in between now and warhammer, they went through basically nuclear mass extinction events and robot uprising mass extinction events. >>98648511NTA but personally I think chaplains are great currently. Always take one in my lists, that cool 10 to use for nuncio vox is so good. They're also surprisingly decent melee characters, for how little points they cost.
>>98648598I entirely agree with you. I think people see that they arent what they used to be (which they arent) and dismiss them, when theyre cheaper than a kitted out centurion and provide more in terms of mental stats while remaining a perfectly good combatant even with no thunder hammer (they basically have a terranic greatsword)
>>98648624>people see that they arent what they used to beThere's a lot of that going on with 3.0 I think. Dreadnoughts are another example, they're very durable and versatile units. But they're no longer godlike units around which the entire edition revolves so that must mean they're bad. Same with HSS.
>>98648674Dreads I think you can have a genuine discussion about, because - especially as melee units - theyve kinda been crippled in many ways. There were three major nerfs to dreads (one per detachment, damage, reduced ws) and I think at least one of those was maybe too much. Because as is you never really want to take a dreadnought detachment, theyre "logistical benefit" fodder. WS/BS4 also feels kinda bad with some of their weapons options, the melta in particular feels kinda bad now that twin linked was removed into the bargain. Super swingy and unreliable. But yea, dreads are totally still usable and frankly still quite good in the right circumstances.
>>98648705Dreads are still good melee units. Their power lies more in how combat resolution works rather than raw killing power. Even against 5 command squad terminators all a comteptor has to do is kill 1 or 2 terminators, survive, and it will win combat and have a good chance of sending those command terminators running. That means a full turn of those terminators doing nothing, because they can't have nuncio vox.Sure, a dreadnought stands no chance against a 10 man terminator squad, but those are three, four times its point cost if not more.
Magos anons how do you run your mech armies, what do you like to take for anti armor/dread?
>>98648818Not a mech player, but both thanatars and vulturax have very tasty AA options. Not as killy as some marine weapons, but come with built in status application and will get the job done. Melee with a knight will also do it.
>>98648818Having only played against Mech, thallax with multi-meltas are a right pain in the ass. Both when jumping over some terrain and blasting my tanks/dreads/terminators from the front, or deep striking turn 2 and firing their hot load in the rear.
>>98648836I'm not really into thanatars or vulturax but I am interested in an armiger moirax so that could work.>>98648868I think thallax are pretty cool so was thinking of going reductor. Are you talking full 6 man squad of multi melta or were they split? They can also take melta bombs.
>>98648913It wont necessarily be optimal into AV14 boxes, but thallax still have universal melta-bombs iirc, so a squad of those can spook tanks too. The various "lower tier" AT like darkfire cannons and the photon thrusters felt a bit unreliable, at least being on their receiving end. Theyll work vs lighter vehicles, but youre going to be going at the big stuff for a while with them.
>hosted first part of a 1.0 narrative event last month>handful of friends who still play came, had good fun>one guy and his brother refuse to play 1.0 so they just roughly translate my missions and meta-rules into 3.0>post second event details not too long ago>the 3.0 guy advertises the event will also be 3.0 and he'll be translating the rules again>bunch of newfags say they'll show up and the event has bloated from like 6 people to like a dozenman I don't want to deal with this shit
>>98648913Seen both squads of 3 and squads of 6. The smaller squads are only a serious threat to below AV 14 tanks, but much less of a priority target. It seems to depend on the Mech player's personal preference. Only seen thallax with their basic guns have melta bombs, but those are a serious threat to tanks as well. There's usually also other anti-tank besides the thallax in Mech armies, mind you.
>>98648940Squads where every model has a melta bomb are actually quite adept at destroying AV 14. Meltabombs are Str 9 armourbane, and 4 dmg each. Regularly destoy kratos and even super-heavies with melta-bomb wielding effrit.
>>98648965Yea, if you have enough of them. But it takes 9 melta bombs on average (and that average is a bit deceptive, because what youre really looking for is three successes, not 2.5)Plus its a bit of a delayed answer, because those thallax have to get to melee first, and while fast theyre not jetbikes.
