/twg/ has been warhammer for 10 years dude where the fuck have you been. The Histfag remnants died out when CA announced 3chinkdoms in early 2018 instead of M3. There's a reason Spearmanii used to be ameme.

IRONICALLY the entire reason HH exists- for people who want 'balanced' space marine armies, is the opposite of the /twg/ mentality where they complained about Historically Accurate fags who wanted every army to be samey forces of sword guys, archers and cavalry.

And then there's the Thanquolfag. That fucking furry piece of shit, spamming the thread with Ratgirls for 8 years until CA FINALLY added thanquol to the game.
>>
>>98674383
It lost dev wounds and some people expected it to go up to S6. They choose not to notice it hits on a 3+ now rather than 4+, rapid fire 2 within 18" and still has heavy sus 1 D2. It's still better than the pyrecannon.
>>
>>98674423
>Custodes have leaked
Please don't tell me you believe the t10 nonsense.
>>
>>98674394
It won't work because S2 is 15 years old. There used to be a super autistic shogunfag who would seethe and sometimes make Shogun 2 threads on /vrt/ or /vst/ but they never took off. In hindsight, the Total war general should have been exiled to /vst/ to drive up interest. But all of this happened like 9 years ago.

I remember when TWW2 was announced the histfags thought the jungles of the Lizardmen were Aztec jungles at first and it was the late game of M3 because in M2 if you lasted 500 years you could go conquer mexico when you discovered the other side of the ocean.
>>

Then people itt who've played those games can engage, but typically all the other coop is so old, played to death and no linger getting updates, so there's nothing to discuss. alright, I just realized my baby squig isn’t fully painted yet, but otherwise they’re done, and I’m very happy with them.
also some anon gave me some criticism that the black was too dark, so I did try to use a bunch of different lighter blacks, but they’d end up blending in even more with the rest of the clothes, and I didn’t want to stray too far from their inspiration, so I just kept it fully black
>>

it's actually funnier because the discussion of S2 being old and played out was already played out in 2017

Has anyone here played enough 11th yet to have a strong opinion on dispositions and asymmetric objectives. I have not personally but I've seen a few games where it was practically impossible for one side to score and the game ended like 60 to 12.

That's wild to me as most games I've seen and played end in the high 80s for both players, and my last game was 98-96.

>>98674542
It's fine, I haven't run into any issues with the new system that couldn't have been boiled down to just being the players fault in their ability to build a list to make their missions more doable.
>>
>>98674542
I like them, they push for more interesting games beyond "just kill everything" though that's still an option. disruption is truly the high IQ disposition though since the primaries are extremely complicated depending on matchup.
>>
>>98674574
The totally imbalanced game that I saw was Imperial Knight vs Tau and the Tau were scoring like crazy while the Knights were forced to just try and table them.
>>
>>98674314
>TQ
Because I have a life
>>
>>98674542
11th edition seems HEAVILY favored for the player going first. they just yeet up the board and dogpile the other players DZ for "hopefully" three turns and unless the defending player tabled the opponent he's pretty much never gonna catch up on points.
>>
>>98674599
isn't that the point of dispositions though? to force people to make balanced lists to score objectives instead of spamming superheavies to shoot the opponent off the board?

>buy just the Victoria rangers box altogether
I don't like how the pants are just unembellished trousers, I might have to do some putty kneecaps there. The special weaps are also a bit ugly, "legally distinct", but I can sub in proper 40K bitz there.

>>
>>98674611
Going second is still better. Especially in missions with end of battle scoring. You don't need to score early to max points.
>>
So how mandatory is new girlyman gonna be?
>>
>>98674634
That depends entirely on points, as always.
>>
>>98674632
Eh... for some armies. I'd agree with my army, Guard for some builds, but if you go infspam it's basically unplayable going 2nd. And yeah, I know you can catch up on points, but that requires the guy going second to actually have enough alive units to move up the board.
>>

>>98674668
I'd say being in melee with your opponent turn 1 in his deployment is VERY beneficial for you, but what do I know.
>>
>>98674680

Melee IS good. If you can get there. You don't NEED to charge them T1, you can score enough points later on if you set up a good T2 charge with T3/4 overruns and clean up.
>>
What size of sable brushes should I get? I have a bunch of shitty chinese 0 brushes and an okay 1 and 2
>>
>>98674668
Depending on your mission you could score a lot of points going first when nothing outside of your opponents deployment zone is contested.

Women and such take things more genuinely and at face value, I've never looked into the why but I'd hazard a guess it's to do with them being generally more socialites, seeking a genuine connection with others. While masculine connections are more about shared interests, shallow surface level relationships where they don't try to get to know others deeper. Anyway, Warhammer 40K.

I'm juggling the idea of starting a new army.
However, to do so I would need to sell one of the three I currently have as I can't justify having four due to a lack of play time.
The army on the slab is unfortunately my Salamanders. Of the three, I'm the least excited about playing them generally, especially since most space marines lost their flavor during the transition from 9th to 10th.
A majority of the army is painted well, except for the units from the Armageddon box which are still sitting unbuilt in the box.
Has anyone sold a painted army before that could give me some tips? Is selling them in a lot viable or should I just accept trying to sell individual units?
Pic is my Adrax Agatone for reference on my painting capabilities.

>>
>>98675272
Yea
I primed and did a basecoat in an experimental color and decided against it after priming 5 minis in that color. Did the usual "soak in isopropyl" for 30 minutes, scrubbed most of it off. Just primed over the little bits of paint left on the model, it worked out fine. You can't even see the remnant bits of paint, both to the naked eye and with a magnifier (I tried with a 16x magnifier).
The material layer thickness of a layer of paint is so miniscule that you are extremely unlikely to see it without a microscope, assuming you thin your paints properly.

You have 45ish minutes, don't you? Give it another pass in alcohol, scrub it and then prime again.
>>
>>98675259
What is your third army? I know about the Tau.
>>
>>98675293

>>
>>98675272

I just did that tonight with some metal fire dragons. Soaked them in methyl alcohol overnight, toothbrushed most of it off, took a sharp metal tack to try and dig out all the stuff in the recesses. Eventually gave up because the details on these models are so crispy I can't even get a needle point in there. Couldn't get all the paint and old primer off but it was like 90% there. Primed them and they're drying right now. They look good but the paint will still dry and shrink a bit. First time using the rustoleum 2x primer. hopefully I didn't over do it.

Killteam is the best way to get into 40k. Small scale skirmish tabletop game, so you only need a single box of dudes. Rules are different from the big boy 40k, but are still a pretty close gaming experience.
You can try all parts of the hobby - modelling, painting, playing - without breaking bank or needing tons of time.

If you want more RPG they got that, there's a separate thread for the PnP though I truly can't recommend it, just grogs who've been playing the same dusty old games for decades having the same circular conversations. Imperium Maledictum is a fine starting point for that, or of course there's the Rogue Trader vidya. If you want tabletop, have a look over factions and figure out which you really like the look of. Bonus if they have a kill team, you can buy that to dip your toes in modeling and painting, and play KT when they're done for a taste of things. Otherwise just look at buying a small kit of something, don't get too gung-ho or you could regret it

You procrastinate because you've associated painting model with a chore bundled with expectations.
This is a classic trap people set up for themselves and fall into.

How do you get out? Learn, slowly, how to be okay with not being productive/efficient. Learn to be okay with it being a fun thing you do for fun.

Symathy only goes so far. Most people with depression actually just have shit-life-ities and the only way out of that is to nut up and improve your situation. Women (and toxic positivity in general) think a pat on the back and to be validated is all you need, such 'people' are fools.
What kind of retard needs someone elses permission to feel an emotion? Needing or giving 'validation' reveals you to be someone who thinks your emotional state should be defined by group consensus. Snivelling worm mindset.

I love it, and it's one of my favorite scoring of any edition (been playing since 4th). 11th isn't perfect but the disposition/scoring system right now is super fun.

My only complaint is that some factions have limited detachment options, which will lead to limited disposition options. Marines have 23 detachments so this issue isn't even on their radar, but for example SoB can't do Purge without Penitent and if they want to do Champions+Orators they're locked into Disruption, and similar issues of limited choice.

Part of me wonders how the game would look if you simply chose a Disposition and they were not tied to detachments. If everyone really does just play Purge in that scenario, then balance Purge by some other means. Purge's win rate is similar to Priority and Hold, I think it's just easier which is why it's popular.

>>98674574
Disruption vs Recon is the funniest by far. That's the one where you have to surveil enemy units. Constant back and forth and every unit matters since each unit can do a different unit. So unique.

>>98674611
I've seen the opposite plenty of times too though. One player comes out swinging and gets an early lead, but because of the way they changed secondaries (you now hold on to cards indefinitely) I've seen people swing 30 points on turn 5 and legitimately make a comeback because they were just sitting on unscored secondary cards and had a good primary turn.

nta but this is a false dichotomy. There isn't two roads: false positivity vs false stoicism.

You are clearly alone in life, this isn't an attack, this is very common. You might reply with "I have friends/people", but being alone doesn't mean being lonely and vice-versa. There are very few people on this earth who are actually *with* you and not just alongside you.

"Shut up and improve your life" is still being alone.
"Find fake positivity with fake people" is also being alone.

What anon said is very much: Go find people who are *with* you and who you can actually *talk about the hard things* with. Working on yourself also involves choosing the right people in your life and learning to accept you are not an island by choice.

It's not about shutting up, it's about perseverance.

>>
>>98676201
You let it go and let it come back on its own. Don't try to trick yourself, you will know.
How many projects/tasks (not strictly warhammer), no matter how small, do you have in mind? There is a good chance that you have many. If that is the case, that prevents you from getting to that "drive" point. Write down somewhere all the ideas so you can forget them, that will help with letting go.

Letting go isn't about abandonning or losing something, it's about letting it (and yourself) be free. It's the same as wanting to climb a mountain while also carrying your computer, your taxes, your parent in a wheelchair and doing curls. You gotta let some things go, not only will they be fine when you come back, but you'll have more ideas and energy to tackle them.

TL;DR: it's usually about personal expectations and the stress/fear that push you to mentally tackle a ton of things at the same time, eating part of your drive. Like your computer task manager.

Something I said many times while grappling with depression was that "Just do shit' is simultaneously the best and least helpful advice. It IS the right solution, but it's really hard to execute on when you're wallowing in despair and telling people to just do shit will rarely if ever reach the person who needs to hear it.

I would hope not, /his/ posters should be aware that the Aztec didn't live near the jungle, but rather in the temperate highland valley and mountain ranges in Central Mexico. Pic related shows part of the core of the Aztec Empire in the 1800s, only real difference between what you see here and 300 years earlier during the Aztec's heyday is the lake would be bigger,

I don't think new sternguard are that good. They lost dev wounds, wound rerolls, they need to within 12 to deal any relevant damage to basic space marines. They probably won't be any cheaper than what they are now.
Termies look way more interesting to me too. Especially with the extra ap rule.
>>
>>98676547
We don't have points yet but currently the difference isn't that much. Drop pods are incredibly easy to screen against so investing in one for 10 sternguard is going to be doing your opponents a massive favour.

Sure but they are still melee. You're not taking them to do the same job.
>>98676580
>We don't have points yet but currently the difference isn't that much.
It should be now. Termies are +1W and +1T with built in deepstrike. That has to cost points.
>Drop pods are incredibly easy to screen against
Hence the detachment should have an upgrade enhancement to reduce the deepstrike distance or some other way to make drop pods usable without making them overpowered. 6" deepstrike or even just ignoring the pod itself and only counting the disembarked unit would go a long way.
>>
>>98674369
So are the Primarchs but we have 200+ books about them.
>>
>>98676603
It's currently more melta shots than both erradicators and devastators. Melta range at 6" though.
>>
>>98676621
That's the problem with drop pods, you either have to make them bullshit that ignores the rules of the game, or they suck because fitting the pod and 10-12 32mm bases outside 8" isn't happening anywhere useful until turn 3. You're always going to be better off using smaller individual units that don't need a pod and can fit in small gaps.

10 sternguard should start on the board and make use of their versatile shooting profiles to take on whatever they come up against. That's their strength, not trying to do a melta drop.

The hammer and shield loadout for assault termies does have a cost. It'd be retarded not to give the cyclone missiles a cost again. Not only are the missiles the better special weapon option, it doesn't even replace the storm bolter. There's zero reason to take the other weapons unless the missiles cost more.

Are they? Infernus is a (new) storm bolter which is awesome to clear GEQs and whatever is bumped ot T4 too, probably SoB and aspect warriors.
Purgatus is classic plasma for killing MEQs. Damnatus is melta 2 with an improved damage of D3+3 instead of the previous D6 and a squad of 10 has more melta shots than both erradicators and melta devastators. I fail to see how any of that is mid.
>>
>>98676786
they are a kill team stil though
>>
>>98677438
Melta profile is shit, it wounds relevant vehicles on 5s and they don't get any wound or damage rerolls like eradicators do.
>>
>>98676949
I think giving Primarchs and PEQs high points and crazy stats is a fun way to play and should be encouraged. These are models that should terrify your opponent and also be a significant gamble in terms of points costs for the player. Enough of a cost that it changes how you play.

Right, but you can take them and Eradicators, since they have three different relevant profiles. Maybe you shot a tank with your Eradicators but didn't quite kill it and its on a couple wounds. Well now you can decide to finish it off with the Sternguard. Or maybe your MEQ mulcher unit needs some help. Sternguard. They just look like a way to be a good backstop when your more dedicated units need help.

Unless you're running blood angels that incentivise max characters, you should generally be very selective about how many you put into a list. Combi weapons going away is retarded. Combis are a more 40k weapon than the bolter itself. Bolters are just the standard marine gun, but putting two weapons into one is as metal and techno-archaic as it gets, which speaks volume about what 40k is as a universe.
On top of that, it embodies the tabletop as it's very much a way to give a model 2 weapons into one.

It wasn't hard to follow either: you got two guns, pick one when you shoot. That's fucking it.

Combis going away is a clear symptom of what's wrong with GW: not understanding 40k as a setting nor as a wargame, and trading simple effective solutions for retarded bloated magic the gathering bullshit.

It's only several out of the 80ish infantry I have. Some of the heads in the kit are bald. If you want, you can use the helmets, which give you enough heads to never have a bald one.

>>98677638
Depends. If you want it to look like they're stepping on fluffy grass like this, you should do the mud first and have the model on the mud, then apply the glue and flock. Use a metal pin to connect them to the base if you're doing tall bases like this and any of them feel wobbly. After the mud is fully dried you can connect many of them fine, and use pins on the portion that need it.
>>
>>98677955
In this particular case I don't think it's that. Sternguard already had ammo selectors in the past. Combis worked as an alternative option because there was no other squad that could get 10 special weapons. That's no longer the case so having actual combis wouldn't really add anything. I don't mid as long as it's a specific quirk of this one unit. Merging weapons into abstracted profiles just erodes the identity of said weapons. We all love plasma, melta or flamers because of the characteristics of the rules of the weapons, not because they are a cosmetic skin to a generic profile. They're being weirdly inconsistent about it. Orks have actual combis all over the codex but then power klaws are merged on nobs... while having the same stats as every other power klaw.

I like the (now OOP) sagitar decurion, might be the best IF model there was.
My advice is to rework them in a way you like them: remove what you don't like, transform it if possible, and add what you like.
For instance I don't like the red aquila much, and the yellow got to be vibrant. I also don't like how plain the fists are, but I don't mind going for a generic or baseline look for them. They are the imperial fists, they are more vanilla than ultramarines, but that can be a force.
I think green laurels and gold lightning bolts go great on them.
>>
>>98678117
I don't find it to be particularly useful. Orks don't have any issues in melee, so Sustained Hits 1 isn't very useful. I have massive bricks of models with several attacks each. I do not need to buff my basic boyz attacks any further. It also collides with any Lethal Hits I might get which sets off my dice autism.
The enhancements are OK, but aren't great. The 'Ard Boyz enhancement makes your Boyz a 4+ save at 25 points. The other enhancement is whatever (Ferocious Show-off).
I was hoping the Green Tide detachment would provide some sort of way to enable foot-slogging to be more efficient or to give some sort of FNP to Boyz who die under any real shooting. Painboyz have been nerfed into the ground. The closest thing they do is give me a strategem to add 2 inches to my advance roll.
>>
>>98678143
I think thats more of a fault of GW balancing rules against the top 1% of players and not the general population of votann/admech players. Now that GW is more willing to individually price wargear and charge premiums on taking multiples of broken units, I think we will see them get a little more daring with unit profiles.
>>
>>98678117
The only thing it really gives you is a more attacks volume on the boyz. 4+ armour isn't really relevant because they should only be getting clapped hard in the waaagh turns which they'll have an invuln in anyway

Rotation is only for competitive play. They still all have valid rules in the APP.
No one has beaten my Kommandos yet and I will never have to face someone good now because I cant use them in tournaments and my friends suck.

Highly likely that if they had been retconned early enough to be the original legion instead of a successor, that they'd be the poster child chapter today instead of Ultras.
>>
>>98678359
Not only were they the original legion and the posterboy marines before their retcon, ultramarines were a successor
>>
>>98678218
not only do admech have like 30 forgeworld schemes (but you wouldn't know because you don't own any models or their codex that shows those off)
marines are the main characters, of course they're going to have more focus
>>
>>98678334
slight correction, marines run shit.
space wolves run a doggy sex ring.
>>
>>98678218
On the bright side you can come up with your own scheme which is the best one. That being said, some of the existing ones are pretty alright.

you could be a faction that was literally at the start of the game, and still only have 5 official color color schemes (snakebites and freebooters either share or don’t have one at all).

Eldar enjoyers, I'm torn on what color scheme to go for my Banshees. Going for Iyanden/Eldritch Raiders scheme for my army. Thinking of doing dark blue armour with one arm classic Wraithbone (this is a 3e banshee) and the cloth a warm Iyanden yellow. Dark almost black leather accents. Wraithbone shuri pistol. Not sure on the hair color.

He also forgot the Basilisk, it's from 1995
The only change it got was a rebox in 2004, and that was purely on the outside. The sprues and parts are the exact same as they were 31 years ago.
The Land Raider is also worth mentioning from 2000, but if 2000 is your desired cutoff date then yea exclude it.

>>
>>98678628

The other thing to add, you just don't fucking mess with perfection. Sure, all those things could use a new mould with sharper details, maybe an extra weapon+ upgrade sprue, but niether of them needs a "new" sculpt.
>>
>>98677900
Don't complain. 10+ generals a day for one game is fucking retarded and antithetical to the nature of imageboards. Lurk moar.
>>
>>98678645
I'm not saying they need "new" sculpts to redesign them, but their moulds very much show their age and most newly-bought Basilisks and Land Raiders have clear issues due to their ancient moulds. Making a new mould that is as faithful as possible to the originals (maybe change the skull on the Basilisk gun shield, it's the only one of the original "more cartoony" style still in production afaik) would be the ideal outcome IMO.
I personally would love if the Basilisk were retooled into a multi-vehicle kit: reintroduce Medusas and Griffons, and give an Armageddon-pattern upgrade sprue alongside it.

I agree with you to an extent but you're missing a key part of the puzzle; other mini companies already offer this shit, and besides that you can also make or 3d proont it yourself. You don't want James' crates for $50 plus tax, just have a look around at what you can get online, you'll be surprised

for me? it's battlefield trophies
been sold out forever so I think its discontinued though
>>
I am thinking of starting a 40k army and there are few I like but I don't want to pay out of my ass.
For Sisters I'd be able to grab Armageddon Battalion, Army of Faith and Penitent Host battleforces.
For Necrons I'd be able to grab Host and Hyperrypt Legion battleforces.
For Votann the maelstorm and cthonian battleforce box.
For guard there are the cadian platoon and krieg siege battleforces.
For CSM various including god specific, corsairs and two variants of Warband battleforces.

I used to proxy some Fantasy Battles around 7th-8th edition(HE and dwarfs, some Empire) and I have been long time fan of settings, just never actually played tabletop 40k. There is just lot I like and would want to try, but I don't want to pay through my ass for this.
Or should I just wait for the next battleforce boxes drop/announcement?

I only like these for the fact that it has non human skulls, that's about it, otherwise I can go to the flgs and get a pack of appropriately sized human skulls with and without helmets for less cost.
>>
>>98678815
hell, have one for each faction.
Marines - monastery stuff, crates, very easy just get stuff from Space Marine 2
Guard - ammo crates, helmets, armor, lasguns, generic military stuff
Sisters - more churchey stuff, FleurdeLys everywhere, etc

Chaos - icons, spikes, corpses on walls, just get from Doom/Quake

Eldar - gems, wraithbone shit, maybe aspect shrine symbols, those vane thingies

Orks - easy, glyphs, gorkamorka stuff, squgis

Nids - just get from Aliens, eggs, weird walls, those spore chimneys and infestation markers from BfM, etc.

Tau - tau-looking stuff.
>>
>>98678852
Do one army at a time and wait until a box comes out that is more worth the cost. Don't spend for the sake of spending.

but personally I find WHFB to be a mixed bag to the point that AoS diverging isn't inherently negative. But I also feel like AoS trying too hard to 40k is also a downside.
