>TQIm gonna cry if that alpha legion rumor engine comes out before the spooder.Anyways how do we feel about the double turn being removed.
>>98675117Any day now.
>>98675128Scrap double turn Introduce activation rolls
>>98675146This Friday for sure
>>98675128>>98675156Would alternating activations work for a game on the scale of AoS? How does mesbg handle it? If they were ever going to introduce it to aos 5th would be the time to do it, but I doubt they have any aspirations in that direction.
>>98675190Would probably work like OPR. But you’re right that I doubt they’d do that. They couldn’t even cement the good soggy rules when the new ghb dropped
double turns i don't inherently mind since you have to play around the idea of either player going first in each battle round, what i don't get is weird shit that spawns from deployment phase, like the person with more regiments having a free reroll on the prioritynot that it matters since everyone usually just brings a two drop anyway because listbuilding is kinda ass this edition
>>98675190> But but le SCALE!!!It's still like 6 to 10 units, and you would likely have to attach heroes to units, reducing the activation count lower still. Yes, the first turns would be longer, like they already are, but as stuff dies, turns get faster. If you were really worried about being out activated you could even introduce a pass token mechanic, and even have faction rules that manipulate THAT mechanic. The real threat to AA games is when you pay with retards who don't know their rules/have constant decision paralysis. At that point you have to bluntly tell those nigs to hurry the fuck up or pull out a clock. It's the only shit part of AA games.
>>98675128It's a shit mechanic so I won't regret its loss Now if we turn into pure 40k, the game is just completely lost anyway so you can just sell the models and forget it. Hopefully they will go just pure AA as a test bed for toeing 40k in that direction or something.
I don’t mind the idea of alternative actions itself but it kinda presents 2, well 3 issues for the game as is 1. How do you balance it with center pieces in mind2. Why do it when the game is already currently engaging as it is? I’m not saying there’s constant back and forths but (for most armies at least) you’re always reacting to your opponent no matter whose turn it is. 3. There’s too much shit to keep track of in the game (currently) to enable it. Not much of an issue of AA on its own, but it’ll be a nasty combo together. But seriously, I thought Nurgle had too much shit to track in third, fucking scourge of aqshys rage dice alone is annoying never mind the other shit. 4. I know I said three but I realized you kinda have to completely rewrite the game from the ground up to properly integrate it, and for what. Just so you can include it as buzzword for the game? >>98675356Even if Aos does become a test bed for it, 40k wouldn’t be able to properly integrate bit because the games are just two completely different spaces. Down to the players, communities, and the rules writers. I like some of HH rules for third, though, they seem fun. I wouldn’t mind if Aos cannibalized some of that. Mostly statuses and morale.
>>98675427The rage dice are so annoying because they just feel like tokens for the sake of tokens if that makes sense.
>>98675468rage dice are also bad, since you get punished for using them.
>>98675190>how does MESBG handle it? Glad to explain. You roll for priority, each turn. If you had priority last turn, you lose ties. Let’s say player 1 wins priority for turn 1.>player 1 move everything >player 2 move everything>player 1 shoot everything >player 2 shoot everything>combat >player with priority decides in what order to resolve combatsI don’t see why it wouldn’t work with AoS. Every single model in MESBG is an individual. They move individually, shoot individually, fight individually (but you can have multiple individuals in one combat) etc. Considering AoS is units so there’s far less to actually move/make decisions for compared to even small scale MESBG games, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.
>>98675054That can’t be true, how is AoS at its peak pulling waaaay less views for battle report than TOW?
I’m having trouble building the warp lightning cannon. I’m trying to push the main cannon into the frame yet it just wont budge. I’m afraid to put too much pressure on and break something so I’m not trying to brute force it. Is there a way to make it easier? I did paint the peg to would scraping the paint off make it easier?
>>98675543Get a file and scrape a bit off the connector
>>98675527Because AoS and 40k suffer from the fact that sitting on circles is not very fun to watch
>>986754271. Centerpieces count as double activations, meaning you skip your next activation.2. You react sooner and can counter certain moves, like moving your gunline back from a potential charge, or getting closer to a siege weapon that just moved to have range on your leader, things like that.3. Just use tokens to mark activated units.4. You can add interesting effects & abilities that acount for alternating activations, like a khornate unit that, after activated to move, can be activated again if a unit gets within a certain range so they can get closer, or freeguild fusiliers react shooting for free at the cost of their own movement.
>>98675543Ok so the damn thing is stuck. Is there any kind of lubricant that could potentially work here?
>>98675592This is going to sound like I am trolling but I am really not. Cum will work.
>>98675543Could always cut the peg and pin it instead. If you have a sanding tool you could try and grind the peg down a bit to make it fit.
So I think by now the dust has had some time to settle concerning our first impressions and it seems, in general, people like the golems and the character but the basic infantry is considered boring and ugly. That does begs the question, how would >(you) have made them look anon? Keep in mind they're only basic infantry, but I believe even within that design space we can still come up with more interesting clanshields than GW did. Let's hear it.
>>98675780I think the gholems looks bad too now that we’ve seen them head on today. Only the duardin lass looks good, rest a shit.
>>98675780Obviously we've only seen a sliver but I like what I've seen so far. I know the thread isn't a monolithic block and everyone has their opinion but I think a lot of the complaints are done purely to complain. If the infantry was much more flashy people would be saying they're too busy/silly
>>98675808To be fair it's not just exclusive to this thread, I've seen similar sentiments over on reddit and whatnot. Though this place is more critical than most, as expected. As for them being more plain I do think this is a case of gw hearing a decade of people complaining that aos is overdetailed and swinging the pendulum a bit too far back in the other direction. Same thing that happened to the ogres imo. Funnily enough there it was the infantry that was well received but the characters that were considered a bit too toned down.
A persistent rumor I've heard is they're gonna somehow combine Warcry and Underworlds. How the FUCK is that gonna work out? The deckbuilding of Underworlds plus the gameplay of Warcry? Just the pushfit kits? More godforsaken hex boards?
>>98675780its less that they're and more just that they're not finished. Idk, I really wanna see the sprue before I really see whats going on with these guys. Helsmiths at least had a bunch of options and actually decent shields, these guys are just plate, pants, and boring helms that the rune priest has. If the nu dwarfs are compataible or have a fuck ton of options then I can maybe ween myself onto them, but as they are they're just dwarf mc dwarfs. I dont feel anything for them, fucked up as it is to say, Im holding more expectations for fyreslayers than the dwarves.
Am I the only one not liking this trend of giving dwarfs big automatons? I play dwarfs to play little guys not big guys, and there are so many possibilities for war machines that would be more interesting than "bigger guy."
>>98675780I think they're fine. Maybe not great, but not ugly. I'd say they're serviceable and since they look kinda generic, it won't be a problem to use models from other companies. But then I still need to see them from up close, from different, what's on the sprue, etc.
>>98675954The formula just doesn’t work on its own. You eventually want something internally that shows they’re actually short, and they need it on a gameplay level because it has quite historically never been fun to play with straight up standard foot slogging dwarves. Well not sure about mordheim but in a larger scale game they’re just polarizing on their own. Not to say I don’t understand your frustration, but I unfortunately know why they would go about with the liberty of not making it strictly dwarves.
>>98675780It's mainly the armour, what we can see of weapons, shields and non-armoured parts of the bodies look nice. I hate the protruding gut plate and the massive collar. I'm not a huge fan of the weirdly sectioned helmets. The round pauldrons and the only leg protection being massive tassets would be forgivable if the got the torso right.Honestly, like the chaos dwarfs it seems like someone in the studio has a penchant for art deco, which wouldn't be a terrible inspiration if they put it in another army but it doesn't fit the dwarfs. I want something more in the old world style, with germanic iron age inspiration.
>>98675826If it means another warcry starter with terrain that isn't meatwood, then I'm all for it. I'd hope the underworlds inclusion is to just give them all suitable warcry rules, maybe with some list building shortcut where you combine a warcry band and an underworlds band, or maybe 2-3 underworlds bands.GW needs a game that can be played on a small board as an entry point for playing with aos styled models IMO. (smaller than spearhead, literally babys first intro to inches and dice)
>>98675826
>>98675510>Every single model in MESBG is an individualSo wait, do i have to aim a bow at a specific guy in a crowd and not at the crowd in general?
>>98676008yeah there's just nothing to them. not even just compared to the old fantasy dwarfs, but also compared to the other dwarfs in the range so far. the new foot hero and ghaeolems™ would actually fit perfectly well with the old dwarf aesthetic, they're covered in fine filigree and runes, they have a lot going on and a lot of design callbacks to the older models, but the basic troops just dont apart from the banner. the basic troops almost look like they dont even belong to the same army because they are so clean and just nothing. its not the end of the world because GW still sells ironbreakers and longbeards and shit and i can just use those models, but its a bummer to wait so long for regular mountain dwarfs in age of sigmar just to get them so minimalist and devoid of anything. they're like the dwarf equivalent of all those fast food joints just becoming grey cube buildings with no color or design. but the character and golems look great, if the rest of the range looks that good im all in, i can deal with one bad looking unit, even if it is the main troop
>>98675826>>98676074Shrimple.
>>98675780Change absolutely nothing but put them in CoS
>>98675780my idea on the faction would have been to focus on rangers just as much as fyreslayers do on slayers and kharadrons on steampunk; ramping up the theme of them being survivalists without a home or on their way to reclaim their home, or in any case maintaining the fighting tactics of when they were dispossessed for what concerns the basic infantry.so no guns but crossbows, and more leather and hoods than heavy armors for the basic guys.Their same design works for drolf after all, even the weird gutplate and anvil pauldrons and hunchback, just make a kit of 10 of them with the option to be built with a crossbow or a shield and an axe.The elite ancestors-gods themed infantries can be armoured, and the golems can man the cannons; but if your basic unit looks like trash, then don't bother with it, make a different concept your basic unit.
>>98673142Female dwarves have their beards downstairs
>>98676275You're thinking of flesh eater women
>>98676269who's to say there isnt a unit of drolfs coming? he's got the same gutplate as the new guys after all
>>98676321The guys who have leaked everything?
>>98676269I remember the latest Grombrindal book having a ranger king with a panther or something everyone expected was a look into new Dispossessed. Kek
>>98676321I'm not saying there isn't, I'm saying the basic infantry isn't them and that's why they look bad.The only looking left that can look like rangers is the gunners.
>>98676330idk about that. i dont think i'd be any more enthused about the basic troops if they looked like drolf, he's pretty boring
>GW issuing takedowns on every dwarf stl on myminifactory right now
>>98676316Oh so they're also like thatbased
>>98676339boring is better than bad
>>98676388You wouldn't get far in show biz. Apathy is death
>>98676395>show bizsir, this is warhammer
>>98676388Their are also bad along with being boring
>Kairic Acolytes are Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde refrence
>>98676345Could they really do that
>>98676345they have no grounds except maybe the stuff thats close to their specific IP like slayers
>>98673425
>>98676461they're quite broad now actually. There's lawsuits for blatant knock offs but it covers the entirety of those companies's works not just the obvious faux-pas. I read recently they make stl seller platforms take down texture rollers and generic sci-fi terrain but people theories it's AI. Not sure if you can contest such in the same way you can a lawsuit though
>>98676507i would expect MMF to push back if they just start blanket takedowning whole genres, especially something as generic as dwarfs
>>98676535Something they've issued a takedown for recently Nothing fantasy or AoS outside of that one paladin Stormcast case ages ago though

>>98676269I never liked drolf but these new clanshields have given me a new appreciation for him. He's certainly been executed better.
The dwarves look like dwarves they’re fine >but they’re boring My friend, you’re so close to the heart of the matter.
>>98676775>reminder boolefag didn't speak a word of dwarfsHe talked about them all the way back in november 2025 lolBoole is the worst topic on the bingo because it's always a bunch of retards complaining
>>98676850Their short with beards, that's about it. They're really basic for Warhammer dwarfs (of all varieties) which is jarring and the unusual elfy body suits and simplistic armour really stand out. If they were CoS Duardin... Sure, you expect something different from such but regular ass dwarfs? Nah. This looks like it came from an uninspired team like Mantic
>>98676890I think Warhammer fans just need to accept dwarves are boring as fuck.
>>98676905Shut the fuck up wazzock
>>98676905Unironically the best dwarves they've ever done were the warcry fyreslayers. The droth berzerker guy especially.
I hope the infantry has options for Hammerers/greybeards
>>98676923I’m being serious man. Like Dragon Age Origins dwarves were clearly based on Warhammer dwarves but they’re infinitely more interesting. WH Dwarves don’t have anything going for them besides being Germanic or Celtic or some hybrid of both and being annoying. Like that’s it. The Votann being Space(tm) Dwarves(tm) is vastly more interesting than Space Dwarves(tm)
>>98675128someone said the XX was "for the khazalites" but I can't find any reference to an XX rune. I was thinking maybe it was Gazul's rune, but his is much more complex like a Tomb under a mountain. X exists as a rune (Trogg) referring to feasting/drinking but no XX, bugman's is XXX or XXXXX.XX as "the 20th legion" simply makes a lot more sense.
>>98676850They're bad, not boring.
STRIKE THE EARTH
>>98676933They're very traditional fantasy dwarfs sure, they arent really going for much elseGW stretched their legs a bit more with Kharadron and Chorfs and I think they're good too. Dwarfs are a bit like marmite you either love them or dont
>>98676936>XX as "the 20th legion" simply makes a lot more senseno, it doesn't, you're choosing to see what you want to see and choosing to ignore what's there to see, which is the various crossing designs on many dwarf models.
>>98676956
>>98676944I’m not talking about the update I was talking about in general. KO and the FS regardless about how you feel on their design they both have more you can work with in different and interesting ways rather than the WH base dwarf. You could argue the point that they’re not supposed to be so idk I guess interesting on paper or visually because they’re the base but I don’t know I just feel like there isn’t a way to do much with them
>>98676966
>>98676936Thing is, nothing else fits dorfs in the mural, so it kind of has to be them.
>>98676974
>>98676984
Are there any good batrep channels? I checked out that new titans one but didn't care for the squeee screaming and cutaways to game show post-match commentaries presented like it's recorded during the game
>>98676989
>>98676968Depends on whether or not you like that, I suppose you could do more with Kharadron im not huge on them personally. Fyreslayers are so one note they're being rolled back into the base Dwarfs like they used to be in the old world. I think what we'll have going forward is fine, you've got traditional good dwarfs, evil dwarf and the funky sky dwarfs where you can play around with more eccentric designs for those that enjoy that sort of thing
>>98676995
>>98676979But it doesn't fit dwarfs either
>>98677000
>>98676954>choosingThat's literally what's there. There is no "Bugman's XX" and it wouldn't make sense referring to the followers of Gazul with XX.>various crossing designsThe RUNES have meaning, they're not just random X symbols. That doesn't even make sense.
>>98676993warpfire minis if you want to actually learn the game. calm, short, to the point batreps with a focus on winning, more like summaries than proper batreps. guy has placed decent in some big tournaments too so he knows the gamearmy selection is somewhat limited though just based on what he plays. rerolling 1s used to be the goat but they called it a day sometime during covid or shortly thereafter. season of war is another one thats alright.
>>98676933The weirdest thing about AOS threads is that there is always this undercurrent of "AoS should be warhammer for people who think warhammer sucks dick and should be something completely different".Just go to the hobby you like, stop coming to ruin this one. The fuck is wrong with people.
>>98676968Khazalite holds are specifically dwarfs who hold to the ancient ways and their design language fits that, placing them in a third ground between innovative kharadron skyreavers and the 3d printed sameface guys who are radical responses to their collapsed civilisation. The refusal to understand that this works for them in context of the other dwarf armies is just bizarre.

>>98677338Are we arguing that every dragon icon in Fyreslayers is Asian? Most of it is just WHFB continuity,
>>98677384>>98677413You can not seriously mean to propose that the dragons designs on fyreslayers are not meant to be magmadroths but instead generic dragons like in whfb?If you don't think magmadroths have asian design elements, fine, I disagree, but fine. But denying their depiction on the fyreslayers is a bit ridiculous.
WHF style Dwarfs would've stood out amongst AoS. It's a little weird they made something more muted and comparable to everything else in Order. I think chainmail and gambeson should've been the direction. Nothing in AoS has that
>>98676111>>98676111YesBut we usually do:I shoot with X guys and I pick first-second-Xth targetI roll all my guys "to hit" roll, then I roll one "to wound", if it didnt kill, I repeat the roll agaisnt the same target until I got no more roll to doEverytime the target dies we switch to the next target
>>98676111Yes exactly. You shoot at individuals. You can shoot at guys that have other guys or obstacles partially in the way (los still needed), you just roll for “in the ways” for every model/obstacle in the way
>>98677422Yes
>>98677458
>>98677353What does any of that have to do with the fact that Disposessed were not a pillar of the setting at any point? What kind of pillar of a setting comes up once as a footnote in one very specific battletome and the core book blurb which got increasingly smaller oh wait I forgot grand alliance order book which no one read and GW quickly moved on from the vast majority of legacy lore for the factions in there. What do you think I’m arguing you retard? This general’s interest being shown by shitting on the thing they love and making fun of them everytime they came up is Irrelevant when the fucking topic is their lack of presence, importance, or even fucking care on every level of this tabletop game. From books, to models, to army rules, to novels, to animation. They were less than a footnote on a good day and on a great day like 3/2 years ago when GW finally decided that they care we get shit like Grombrindal coming back or all those White Dwarf stories about the dwarves, or GW FINALLY adding lore about the dispossessed in Fyreslayer or KO tomes. >>98677387Did I say it wasn’t or did I say the dwarves were more interesting than WH fantasy?

>>98677474That's not even a dragon, it's some king of gryph
>>98677500it's clearly a magmadroth maybe some metaphorical interpretation but the likeness is indisputable I think SEA cultures associated birds with death so
>>98677500You're some kind of tourist
>>98677487The runemaster I will concede looks like a normal ass dragon, that beak thing is pretty standard in whfb dragons. The hearthguard is more iffy though and the berzerker's is quite clearly a droth.
>>98677218I mean, it should not have taken 10 years to get this army. We should not be 10 years in and STILL not have Tyrion or Malekith. And now they are just blowing up the world too? AoS is a story of wasted potential
>>98677524The Grimwrath is the only one you can definitively argue is. I would argue the isolation suggests he came last, especially considering Flameseekers follow that styling. So no, the designs are probably continuity with WHF not dependent on the Magmadroth being central to their culture.
>its this>no its thatits both
>>98677518Nobody considers those abortions "dragons" either

>>98677422They're meant to be magnadroths but magmadroths have nothing with asian shit so the draconic motifs on the dwarfs have nothing asian either. It doesn't matter if you disagree, you're wrong and retarded and schizophrenic and should get thrown off an helicopter while chained to a cow.
>pillars of the settingFyreslayers don't count though. The only new army included in the first core book. The first original army to release outside of SCE and Khorne.
>>98677017This made them upset badly…
>>98677539Looking at the whole range again I would argue the opposite, I see more droth than drake. The runemaster is definitely a classic whfb dragon, and so are *probably* the hearthguard. Vulkites I would say lean more to droth, especially the champion's helmet (picrel) though the others are somewhat ambiguous. The runefather, runeson, battlesmith, and especially the grimwrath are all very obviously magmadroths though, as are of course the vulkyn flameseekers.>>98677549Well yeah obviously but the original claim in >>98677187 was that fyreslayer iconography is *entirely* derived from the anglo saxon whfb dragon stuff which is plainly retarded.I consider this a win for team malaysia (well vietnam, but malaysia is funnier)

>>98677513>I think SEA cultures associated birds with death sothat’s a lot of cultures in general
>>98677673Hearthguard don't even have a spiked nose on most of them so they can't be magmadroths. It would be weird to have established magmadroths as the inspiration for crests and then to sculpt new kits using generic dragons AND THEN to return to Magmadroths, which you're earnestly arguing? We have WHF crests. We have historical crests. Clearly, the crests came first. They had dragons and do. Magmadroths came afterwards and once established the new crests were based on them instead. The Grimwrath and the Flameseekers assuredly. Don't be an idiot.

Consistent arcs for the factions, expansion of lore primary and supplemental. No you dumbass what I’m arguing is it’s is not reasonable to call a legacy faction that was stuffed in the closet for half a decade a pillar of the setting. If you call what GW did to dispossessed existing then nevermind this is a worthless discussion. Barely even half of a playable army for the majority of their existence but a pillar of the game. Okay man sure. >is to be warhammer for the people who hate warhammerAgain if you retards somehow consider having dwarves not being nothing BUT boring ass Germanic celts but short and annoying not Warhammer then I truly don’t know how you considered AoS Warhammer when we had Mediterranean warrior monks and capitalistic retro futurism for longer than we had Germanic celts.

>>98677677Concession accepted anon>>98677707I agree that hearthguard are probably whfb drake inspired, but I don't quite follow what you mean about the whole "magmadroth crests, then back to dragons, then magmadroths instead" thing. Hearthguard were part of the first wave. The way I see it, they probably started work on the fyreslayer range (clearly building on the celtic and germanic elements found in the whfb dwarf range) utilizing a lot of dragon iconography as they're fire themed dwarfs. In the midst of this process they probanly settled on the specific droth look of their "dragons", but their initial wave still contained a mixed assortment of classic drake and droth iconography. I mean it's hard to argue that the grimwrath is a one off when you have the actual literal magmadroth released alongside it y'know.
>>98677683To be expected when you base a race on the most boring dwarves in the history of man

>>98677752something about those dwarves really irk me. Maybe its how cartoony they are, but are trying to be serious. Idk.
>>98677747Exactly, they have dragon iconography because it's continuity with WHF. Fyreslayers are Anglo Dwarfs as they were in WHF, or at least an English hodgepodge given Celts and all.

>>98677778>Dwarves from fantasy would use dragon iconography Yes. Magmadroths came after. Worth noting the core book says nothing about magmadroths but shows Fyreslayers. The earlier booklet calls them something else but also never alludes to Magmadroths. Newfag

>>98677778>>Dwarves from fantasy would ally themselves with dragonsThey literally were allied to dragons in one point of their ancient past, before they came to blows.
>>98677747OR, the first fyreslayers were made as continuation with fantasy, then they decided to expand them into a whole faction, making at the same time both new units and the magmadroth and rationalising the dragon motifs as magmadroth, even if they aren't 1:1, but there's no asian stuff because the asian connection is something you're hallucinating on your own for no reason other than the pathological hubris of being the one to have "cracked the code".
norwood 3 chad here, should I get into Idoneth or Fyreslayers.
>>98677747It's been long speculated that the Hearthguard kit is older than the rest of the Fyreslayer range, so that would fit. They were also the first original AoS army after Stormcast and Khorne, it's very likely in general they started as something WHF related, for various reasons.
>>98677841Fyreslayers are getting souped into a larger dwarf book, we are still unsure about the number of new units. If you want to go bold, deep and bald, then idk

Since, again, I would argue those new dragon designs have very obvious asian design elements, we can not consider fyreslayers to be solely anglo-saxon/celtic/norse like whfb dwarfs were. In the same way that lumineth are very obviously inspired by whfb high elves, but have also added their own new and distinct influences
>>98677720No Fyreslayers are sticking around, they're just going to be more of a subfaction than a full army. Rumor is that they are losing Vulkites+3 foot heroes but gaining a new fancy Droth hero.
>>98677884>we can not consider fyreslayers to be solely anglo-saxon/celtic/norse like whfb dwarfs wereYes, we can, because the "very obvious asian design elements" are either not obvious at all, or not asian at all. These aren't any more asian than old dwarfs were, to the point you can use them as heroes and slayers with little issues, while lumineth have diverged enough that their models stick out like a sore thumb amongst high elves.
>>98677913

>>98678103>I could argue that the flamekeeper's helmet looking exactly like the sutton-hoo one is also a coincidentalNo, you couldn't, because dwarfs have had other such masks and their inspirations in that direction have been proven and made explicit beyond any doubt.Meanwhile you're trying to argue that their draconic motifs are asian, for no reason other than the magmadroth being (to you, and you alone) asian, despite the motifs not looking enough like the magmadroth and the magmadroth not looking enough like the asian dragons you're obsessing about to rule out the chance that it's just a generic wingless dragon with an incidental similarity at best. These two incidences wouldn't be the same at all.
>>98678158nta, but LMAO>The only man on earth who thinks the Magmadroth has zero asian inspiration insists the entire world agrees with him. Try putting it to a poll, champ.

>>98678177Noone suggests the magmadroth is an asian dragon outside of this one anon. You would think the thing would have come up in design commentaries or even in a passing comment by the one asian illustrator at gw who's a fan of fyreslayers, but no, the connection only exists in anon's ramblings, the designers specifically decided to take asian inspirations for the faction and use them nowhere other than the magmadroth itself. And the droth is indeed asian because... it has flame-shaped scales and a horn, no other creative process could have possibly ended up with such a creature, it must have been a secret reference to a very specific niche depiction of an asian dragon. That makes total sense.

And included them in the numerous updating campaigns, supplements, battletomes, novels, and army lists? Wait they didn’t do that? Weird how a faction so important to the game didn’t even receive crumbs like the DoK did. What’s even more pathetic is the fucking wanderers had more relevancy in the game AND setting than dispossessed and you want me to believe they were important to anyone. A faction so important that they were a joke in this general for several years and still are. Good luck my delusional friend you definitely can rewrite the history we all lived

>>98678247Dwarf stuff is serious business. Anyways I like this slayers belt a lot, even if it’s kinda similar to what darkoath have.
>>98678242No, you don’t get it. The dispossessed were so important to the game and the setting that GW did literally nothing with them. And you have to take time to buildup on literally nothing and that clearly takes ten years. There’s literally no time or space to put dispossessed anywhere or make their army lists playable without punching yourself in the balls with a legacy army list. The multi billion dollar company just couldn’t do anything to make dispossessed feature more in the game or the setting without a complete range update. What do you think they are? Cities of Sigmar? Wanderers? Get real they’re the dispossessed

>>98678300I agree it’s absurd for a tabletop and literature company to do literally anything tabletop or literature related for a “pillar” of their game >>98678320How much work would it have taken GW to include Dispossessed army list or a fun little rules for a camapaign like they did for other legacy armies like wanderers, CoS, and Beastmen? There was a mandate that kept dispossessed from appearing in black library books? Why are yall acting like I’m arguing for an entire update when I’m arguing that Dispossessed didn’t even receive SCRAPS!
>>98678354Yeah I would argue the faction that received consistent support at the start of the game is more relevant and closer to being a pillar than a nonexistent faction that didn’t even live in our hearts
what factions are actually a pillar for AOS?I think sylvaneth are pretty up there, maybe competing with Stormcast for relevance. Which is weird, wood elves were pretty irrelevant in fantasy for a good ol while, even in the endtimes aside from everyone hiding out in their woods at the end.
>>98678479What does 'pillar' even mean. This isn't 40k, we don't have a space Marine army that is played by over 50% of the player base. The highest is like 10 to 15 percent, and that's normally Stormcast or StD
>>98678495Why would you use consumer numbers and not the producers focus. Every single person playing this game could have Stormcast eternals but if all GW is releasing Aelve armies, aelf tomes, aelf supplements, and aelf campaigns why would you even look at Stormcast as important to the setting or game
>>98678479SCE, Khorne, Fyreslayers, Sylvaneth, StD/Everchosen, Maggotkin (including BoC), and Ironjawz were the pillars of the first wave After that, it's basically just whatever is for sale. Lumineth are suddenly pivotal as this emblem of WHF redefined in 2nd edition alongside OBR, SBGL, etc. CoS represent a solid core the setting was literally built around. Nowadays, who cares. Buy new shit.
>>98678505Then you could once again use the Space Marine example from 40k, you fucking faggot, since every fucking supplement and campaign throws them front and center. For AoS, we don't have one. Barely any faction in 3rd and 4th gets that much more attention than anyone else

>>98678761God how do we keep getting back to the Magmadroth bit...I think there's like 1 guy who plays fyreslayers here and I don't think he even cares. Also I've been saying with dispossessed: them being generic and basic is kinda the whole shtick. They're just the generic dwarves, that's the gimmick. We already got the crazy flame dwarves and the flying super mechanical dwarves, no we need our basic bitch mining and rune dwarves with a light touch of steampunk. Them being basic is the gimmick.
>>98678777Consider also the Leagues of Votann are getting a push in 40K again. Seems like GW's trying to really push dwarfs in general. Makes sense to revive the classic approach.
>>98678793I mean might as well, considering we already have enough elves and enough humans, might as well push for some of the less represented side for a small bit. Especially if they wind up just getting fyreslayers moulded into them so it's not like it's a new order faction it's just fixing one of the lame ass ones.
>>98678777Eh they're basic but they're also just kind of ugly. The female character seems like a pretty standard fantasy shield maiden esque design and people seem to like her.Plus you can do "basic dwarf" while still doing something more interesting with them visually than what we got. I'd post the onion armour pic again if I could find it.
>>98678802I already know the pic, I think they're fine. If anything it's the most basic infantry so it's not like my expectations are very high. If anything usually with order basic rank and file infantry sucks and then you get the cool shit with heroes and elite stuff. (Stormcasts, DoK, Idoneth, Cities)
>>98678800Exactly. It's more of just a refresh of the Dispossessed who got nothing but a CoS box then no relevance. Combining them with the Fyreslayers to hopefully have some narrative going on would be good.
>>98678808I'm going to post the pic anyway because I just found them>idonethI hope you're not implying namarti suck anon
So anyway, what's the best CoS city and why?
>>98678853I like Namarti but compared to the heroes and other stuff I think they are by far the most basic unit for Idoneth.Like I'm not gonna put Namarti next to the soulrender and say that's even close to an even comparison. (IDK doesn't really have any other infantry so just assume eels too) It's like putting Witch Elves next to the snakes, or steelhelms vs like... The knights, the gunners, literally anything else COS.

>>98678634What edition is this? How come it’s not in the OP?
>>98678413Thanks. I hope TLW is good if it really is happening and they don’t screw with too much of what makes the setting so appealing.
>>98679305Well it's nasty, but a pretty good design for a oc unclean one>>98679339We'll see anon, we'll see.
AngryOverStupidity
>>98678858How many even are there? Names? What’s the difference?
>>98678907reasoning? talk to us buddy
>>98679339It's not. They wouldn't refresh ogres & dwarfs just to have a soft reboot next year.
>>98679369Anon they refreshed dwarfs in 2014 and had a HARD reboot a year later.Fuck, tomb kings had a pretty big release in 8th edition and they cut those fuckers out of the game entirely.
>>98679332OP might not have been updated with this
>>98679402Yeah but Endtimes was a still despised change. They're not gonna repeat that same mistake with another setting shake up.
>>98679351reminds me of the Blightking fly head or the sorcerer
>>98679339I mean it's happening, it's mostly just whether or not it's a whole replacement for AOS like I'm sure some dickheads would have you believe. (Because I'm so sure GW would rebrand AGAIN, into an even more generic name and make it even harder to comprehend.) or if it's just another gimmick for a new edition that will be relatively meaningless in the long run.
>>98679357There's 11 "main" ones with dedicated heraldry, emblems, colour schemes, etc. Essentially the 7 most important cities of each realm bar azyr (actually does sigmar sigmarheim count as a free city?) plus 2 extra each for aqshy and ghyran because gw has its favourites. Now these are just the main ones, there's a bunch of smaller ones of varying importance too (verdigris, glymmsforge, etc). Culture varies pretty widly from city to city.>>98679367>best colour scheme>best patron deity>best enemies (nighthaunt)What's not to like>>98679420Surely...
>>98679474Leakers said the rules wouldn't change much nor the armies, nor the setting really beyond the realms which lbr were irrelevant anyway. GW did nothing to contextualise the realms. Oh there's just realmgates wherever who cares and Stormcast basically teleport wherever anyway. The minute the realms mattered is the minute they draw up concrete maps and organise realmgates, which is exactly when you'd wonder why you're even bothering with this instead of a straightforward map. Ideally we get Battleworld as the main political hub, then Realms are like the 40k slipstream or whatever and people explore that for Realmstore and artefacts. Mages venture for centuries to unlock their craft their. Fanatics journey through Shyish claiming to have met Nagash.
>>98679420>Endtimes was a still despised changeAccording to who? Secondaries? The End Times was the most money GW ever made and highest player count it ever had. >Oh, no, they were hate buying it! They didn't actually want to play, they just did out of spite! Delusional. If GW weren't so on the rails they would have scrapped AoS given the End Times success but this was all years in advance of the release for us consumers.
Has the current Sylvaneth Battletome been scanned yet?
>>98679544The narrative was fucking terrible. All the lore & books were extremely rushed.
>>98679474Well as things stand it's going to be ...neither, like it's certainly going to be a bigger thing than the vermindoom, necroquake, era of the beast, ... all that shit combined. It'll easily be the biggest lore shakeup in the game's history. But on the other hand, that's exactly what it is. Nothing more and nothing less. It won't be a rebrand of the game a la end times; it'll still be called age of sigmar and play like age of sigmar with age of sigmar factions. We're not moving over to hexagonal grits where seraphon suddenly share a faction with troggoths and deathrattle and namarti and akhelians are each split up into their own separate factions.>>98679527As I understand things the current realms will be stitched together to form the new map. I don't know if and how much of their magical geography they retain, and how much of the actual realms will be used (I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the main area of each realm like the great parch)
>>98678858Greywater has Shadow the Hedgehog energy
>>98679527My bet so far has been, Sigmar in secret has been gathering various realm stones and other bullshit over in Azyr and has been building a fresh new world that he was basically gonna use as like a Noah's Arc situation just slap everyone on board who's cool with it and now we have new happy planet for colonization and safety in Azyr.BUT OH NO, Skaven or Archaon or some other shit breaks in and now Sigmar just deems it fit that rather than letting them just blow it up now he sends it out to the Aether and word spreads, everyone sees this new planet as basically a completely untapped resource and place to set up shop. Now we've got all the factions vying for control, we get a bit of each realm as a part of a central location but the realms still exist, yada yada yada. Things continue on but now there's a new thing to fight over.
>>98679566GW are using your personal blog as a metric for success on their shareholder reports? Damn
>>98679600This is universally agreed on no matter how much you shitpost otherwise. Money doesn't equal quality.
The Darkwater news has me cautiously excited. Please gimme some Darkwater pics to stoke me up.
>>98677883>>98677909Ok that’s so bad then as long as they don’t completely bite the dust…
>>98679600I think even among people who like the end times stuff, it's commonly agreed that it was poorly executed. Some of the stuff in it is genuinely great, but all that good stuff is couched between a sea of mid to bad. And also some of the good stuff depends on who you ask. It also should not be a surprise to you that the end times was considered rushed when we have interviews with designers for AoS 0.5e (Pre GHB 1e) saying that the entire project was kinda rushed and disorganized.
>>98679617I don't want to get your hopes down anon, so read at your own peril, but apparently the whq stuff is the CoS lootbox thing heroes in a box with rules
>>98679635So friar fat fuck is getting rules?Based
>>98679617Didn't anon draw a group shot with all the MoN villains? Someone post that if they've got it.

>>98679612And GW are after not money but quality. Sure thing
>>98679687Events are good. Killing the setting sucked majorly narratively & created a divide so bad they had to revive TOW just to appease those fans.
>>98679635>the CoS lootbox thing heroes in a box with rulesDoes that mean I don't need to buy blindboxes and they all come in a box or I still have to buy blindboxes?
>>98679767Fuck if I know, I'm just parroting what I heard from whitefang back me up.
>>98679804did he give a date on those funny blind boxes? I want that wizard, priest, and maybe the crossbow guy and witch hunter...
>>98679829Nah just the contents. Oh also, apparently they're reboxing one of the cos warbands for darkwater or something.Let me just copy paste the whole post:>From what i hear the WQ:Darkwater expansion is going to be some of the Cities of Sigmar blind box heroes with no extra baddies, and the Barnes and Noble set is the old Underworlds Witchunters in a starter set/beginner thing
>>98679893What would the hunters presumably be boxed with?
Apparently the golems are pretty damn big, like ogre sized at the absolutely least
>>98680186They're on 50mms, so yeah.
the hatchette spearhead magazines are being shipped out finally, might only be me but holy fuck the magazines are weird. you open them up and the hole markers on the borders are pressed so tight it rips apart, i have no idea how the hell that happens
>>98679474Newfag here. From my understanding GW canned fantasy since it wasn’t making too much money and wasn’t attracting new players in. From what I’ve heard AOS is on an upward trajectory so why would they want to rebrand. Am I missing something?
>>98680186>>98680193Here's a quick mockup for comparison btw. All models on 50mms.
>>98680266are the gholems supposed to be dual build
>>98680271Not sure. What Boole's message said is that there's an elite female infantry unit which I think people are mixing up as a dual build for the Gholems. It wouldn't surprise me to give them a dual build, though.
>>98680271I imagine so, maybe they'll have a dual wield option with fyreslayer style heads
>>98680257Gw is on the cusp of breaking out of the tabletop market and breaching into the mainstream pop culture zeitgeist (or at least the "geek" one). AoS is succesful within the tabletop business, but has little to no following outside of it. We don't have any secondaries, in other words. GW is aiming to a) trim some of the stuff out that apparently secondaries don't like and b) get a second chance at a first impression since a lot of people are still working on impressions they got from aos' terrible launch.
>>98680327>Gw is on the cusp of breaking out of the tabletop market and breaching into the mainstream pop culture zeitgeist (or at least the "geek" one). Are they really though? I would say the current popularity of their properties is about as best as they’re going to get (well, I suppose Fantays/AoS could do better) but I don’t really see a future where Warhammer is ever as popular as say, Star Wars, and frankly that’s probably for the best
>>98680364>>98680327I think for them to do that they would need to endorse fan content more, rather than striking everything they can.
>>98680364MAYBE post Amazon show finally coming out but who knows when that'll happen or how much Cavill can keep it from pushing bullshit.
>>98680364Star wars is probably a little much, but like for example if you look up google trends 40k overtook star trek a year or two ago, imagine telling that to priestley in the 90's.

>>98681393yes
>>98681343nta but you can literally read the shareholder reports. WHFB sales peaked in end times and were second highest in 8th. gw don't care about your opinion because you're in the minority. it's why 4th and 5th are/will be such dog shit because crying online doesn't matter when the majority has never spent more on the game. it's like gamers trying to cancel every woke game that goes on to break sales records. No one that matters gives a shit if it turned a profit.
>>98681500GW watch youtubers like Arch and Major for market research. They know exactly what people think and deliberately try to avoid upsetting these powerful massive viewerships because they are all potential customers and more happy customers means duh more profit.
