Let's have a nice little UB free thread
>>98794406Back to your containment zone. >>98702105All in universe IPs are filled with trannies and woke liberal shite. At least with some UB IPs we are allowed to enjoy bare midriffs of 15 year old girls.

I like magic the gathering : )
>>98794455Wellcum to the fold
>>98794372>TQThis is my only mono red pile so it's the best by default. It's not very good though.

If your game has resources, then the most effective competitive move is the denial and slowing of said resources. For some reason Commanderfags really don't like this concept, citing scrub nonsense like "uh it's feelsbad and ruins the vibes" and other rubbish.
>>98794591not in my bracket chud
>>98794591Sir this is an edh thread
>>98794598Yes and? I really don't understand why EDH players seem to deliberately not take the most optimal move. If a opponent is on 2 life, and you have the ability to easily take them out, do it.
Sisters is it racist if I attack the black guy at my table? What if he thinks I'm re-enacting harmful colonial stereotypes?
>>98794591Sorry bud this format is for funhavers and people with social skills.
>>98794603That's just autism. This is a format for binder fodder and pet cards, the power level is all over the place as a result. Personally, I just want good game, if that means picking my bracket 2 oros deck instead of my cedh grenzo deck then that's what I'll do
>>98794609Playing the game to the best of your ability isn't "not fun", what the hell am I reading. You make less sense than the rules text for storm
>>98794613Literally schizo poster can't even keep his own point straight let alone interact with another person
>>98794372I have the goblin storm deck with a few changes. I guess that.
>>98794591>muh efficiencyThe tagline for the format is >build casually, play competitivelyHope this helps!

My mono-red deck is Freya and she is also my waifu. I also play as her my general in Competitive Brawl format on MTGArena.
If a player resolves last March of the ents, would you prefer to be killed with craterhoof or watch several 8 mana etbs resolve?I tried to build a deck that doesn't one shot from hand, but I think as a result the turns are too long.
>>98794372>TQ: what's your best mono red pile?My Alexios deck. I only ever play it when I'm forced to play and I don't want to or when there's more than 4 players in the pod.https://manabox.app/decks/Utl1mDE_TOO3lP8Y7cfUpgThough I'm starting to enjoy playing Red so much I might make a Magda Dragon deck and a Iraxxa, Empress of Mars deck as well.
TQ:Purphorus Bronze blooded. Love the deck, goes from 0 to 100 as soon as I reach 5 mana. Ive had a guy say he didnt attack me because he felt bad about my board state. I won 2 turns later from pure cheating out chunky face smashing artifact / dragons, no combo
>>98794372People at my lgs fear Kharn now.I did have to have a strangely long conversation with someone once about how he doesn't control the equipment/auras attached to him though.
>>98795000Why Kharn over Alexios? Sincerely asking why
>>98794609>this format is for funhavers and people with social skills>in other words this format is for people who don't like playing blackwhat did sheldon mean by this?
>>98795028Draws cards, I dislike asscreed, kharn is a cool guy
Some Anon posted his idea for a Majora's Mask MtG card. I picked the idea up and made this. What do you think? Overpowered?
>>98795167I kinda fuck with all of those on a flavor level, not gonna lie, though skull kid's transformation cost is way too low for his other form giving you what amounts to Avacyn/Sigarda on steroids
>>98795167I don't understand the point of terrible fate. There is literally no incentive to run it (all players lose?) unless you need an outlet to sink an arbitrary amount of life into. The second paragraph is also beyond retarded and makes no sense.
>>98794658This is such a crazy self own lmao
So this 100% goes into Dack Fayden right?
>>98795167Beyond piss easy to flip for something so powerful
>>98795268Lol no. If you are casting dack you've already won the game.
>>98795167Skull kid A side is a white or green card, B is probably too strong for the cost. Also isn't he a fairy? I thought he was an offshoot of the woods kids. Terrible Fate can't function as written, it needs to enter with some way to remember what X is, as that information isn't retained off the stack. Stuff like hydras work because X is used to modify how it moves from the stack to the battlefield.>>98795268>basic landNo, just run stuff that can get Homweward Path.
If I bring back Collector's Cage with Daretti's attack trigger I can cast what I got with hideaway immediately if I have the 1 mana even if it's a sorcery or creature as long as I have the 3 creatures with different powers condition, right?I know that it's supposed to ignore timing restrictions but some guy we were playing against was dead set on telling me that I was trying to con the table.
>>98795352>You choose whether to play the exiled card as Collector's Cage's last ability resolves. If you do, you do so as part of the resolution of that ability. You can't wait to play it later in the turn. Timing restrictions based on the card's types are ignored. However, you can never play lands on other players' turns. (2024-04-12)
>>98795352Yes. There are no timing restrictions on its activation, which lets you as anything hidden under it at instant speed.
>>98795352if you got priority, yes.
>>98795365>>98795367>>98795372I knew it. I understand getting miffed because that find meant he got hit for 27 commander damage from feeding 3 arcbounds to Zabaz doubling them with Resourceful Defense right after. Which I also got questioned for.God I love this deck when it works.
>>98794547Flash in Containment Priest. Nice deck retard.
>>98794372>TQ: what's your best mono red pile? This. It's not good, and it's barely won any games, but I'm trying to make it better. It's fun to punish everyone for playing the game, especially those greedy landfall decks.
>>98795391Resourceful defense is just a sleeper bonkers card, but the confusion comes from people not understanding "put its counters on <something>." It doesn't mean "remove the counters from X and put them on Y" it's "note the list of counters on X and put that list of counters on Y."
>>98794372>TQ
Wen Trek spoilers?
>tqMono red? More like mono gay
>>98795481That and it's creature version are so good on a Modular deck. One time, the stars aligned perfectly so I could use sticky fingers on Zabaz turn 2, and thanks to that I had enough mana to get >>98795499 on the field by turn 3, then next turn play Role model, copy Zabaz so the copy dies to the legend rule so Zabaz is now a 4/4, get Arcbound Ravager in there and sac Zabaz so the Ravager is now a 10/10 by turn 4 and I can cast Zabaz + copy it again next turn so it gets 3 counters every turn. Then I got told to fuck off and my board got exiled but it was worth it.
>>98795518Probably not until after the comic con announcement.
>>98795565I know what zabaz does, but most of my white and red counters cards are generic and don't do much with him. Maybe eventually I'll buy the arcbounds and try it out.
>>98795268Might be worth swapping out sword of the animist for assuming the protection doesn't brick your own cards.
>>98795752It sure does, since he wants to flicker himself to dump all his key pieces in one go.
>>98795787I meant more for decks that are already equipment heavy and have animist. Dack wins because you cast him so there's 0 need for that card at all.
Been messing around with the new Zombie deck with Evil Megumin and this is a fun combo
>>98795818>>98794372
>>98795794He was explicitly asking about dack
>>98794372Inferno is my best mono-R deck, I very rarely win with it because my friends all are familiar with how it goes, but even just having Inferno in the command zone is enough to warp the game. I have to play it now like an instant-win deck, if I play Inferno I need to be able to protect it and also take everyone out in the same turn, otherwise everything I do is hated out of the game from fear of many huge fireballs incinerating the table. I love it.
>TQI have a mono red flicker/aggro deck that has become my pet projectWould you think that red has a lot of good self ETB creatures? Because it really doesnt, not counting the "other creature" ETBs.https://moxfield.com/decks/hSjis58CRUyE4HRswu_q1w
>>98794372 speaking of the previous TQ about random bulk finds I found the thread pic in my bulk and thought it seemed pretty good. never used it though. maybe I should. I dont run gamble in any decks either though>>98794406ok but that doesnt count for LOTR, final fantasy and Dnd sets right since they are essentially universe within by all having similar vibes and source material/mutual inspiration to each other??>>98794510how does morphing a commander from the command zone work? seems not great. without green land ramping this is just too expensive to cast. red's stolen dark ritual cards are all not great and artifacts get blown up E-Z>>98794594so anyway I cast blood moon>>98794703I have tried to do coalition victory, something that makes stuff 5 colors ends up always getting destroyed making it fizzle. very hard to get it to land. still can't believe its unbanned in commander. wild ISH>>98794995greatest mono green commander of all time (hes the GOAT)>>98795167take out the white and it would be more fitting. skull kid is definitely red blue black green (green for being a forest dweller originally). red is for all his literal direct damage and power gain from the mask. black and blue pretty obvious (control and death, plus THE MOOOOOOOON)
also, TQ, I was going to do mono red Knuckles the ECHID but ended up going for a Smaug the Impenetrable red-black pestilence thing. but kept a lot of the core. several Cheerios. knuckles would have been better for more casual ISH but I needed another higher power thing for some of the higher power game that come up. knuckles is still useful in the 99. mono red is probably my least desirable color to play as since it sucks so much balls. mono white and green are great. black can be too and I'm brewing up a mono black UH OH STINKY!! deck for Olinda (will just proxy her) but I cant actually think of any good synergies with her effect. mono blue can do lots of silliness, like seeing the artifact pre-con go artifacts, or you can do merfolk, or thieves ["rogues"]. sea creatures....(although I was thinking of a U/B crack-ken deck. either way mono blue artifacts is much better than mono red IMO. red just sucks in commander. goblins is a bout it. dwarves is a red/white thing. dragons costs way too much. and your shit getting locked up by massive O-rings, song of dryads, trapped in the moon, etc with almost no enchantment removal makes red the weakest by far. mono red players rage when you imprison their commander even though theres several options for directly removing and even exiling enchainments that red can play. red just sucks [again, in commander]. not to mention the faggots at gōtC trying to get people to not play blood moon in casual games ruins some of reds best control pieces
>>98795912Mono-red treasures are a pretty fun and strong archetype to play imo, I also appreciate how there are multiple viable commanders and you can swap them out at will such as Knuckles, Magda, Smaug, Ragavan
Walmart has one. Should I be a faggot?
>>98796452Her precon sucks and she's cheap enough as single to just buy her and fill the rest up with actually synergistic cards for less than you'd pay for the box.

>>98797147Yeah. Dry erase tribal with Orvar is fun.
>>98797189it comes into play as a copy of yuethe legend rule kicks in, you sac the cloneyue's ability causes it to reenter the battlefield as a land named moon that also enters as a copy of any ally

>>98798072Nothing. Sorry.
>>98798062I run one in each of my mono color decks. But that's mostly because I like the flavor text of them. They pull their weight decently well most of the time. I can't imagine running them in two or more color decks though. Unless your deck almost exclusively focuses on one of the colors.

>>98798078play obby, yeah
>>98798075Yeah. I have them in my mono color decks, and once of each in a single 2c deck, and they still do a fair bit of work there but that just could be bias.

What are some big creatures I can put in Vigorbloom?
>>98798200"Smol Bean" is only bullshit because it's intentionally misrepresenting the board. Table politics is messy enough without lying about your cards.Players should normalize identifying as a threat:Yes my commander wins by commander damage, no they are not just a funny little guy, yes you are correct to Imprison them in the Moon, no I still get to play, yes I can still win, no you are not safe.
What are some commanders with this vibe
>>98798231Anyone you want to make look like that with a proxy. For a real card maybe? I don't know the character so all I see is dancing.
>>98798062Medallions are only useful if you're repeatedly casting multiple spells of that color in a single turn, otherwise it's worse than a mind stone (i.e. reducing the cost of one red spell by 1 is less useful than producing 1 mana). Not many decks are going to do that, so even in monocolor it needs to be a deck that's vomiting cards out. Outside of monocolor it's only worth it in storm decks.

>>98795834this is dope, I guess I missed this card (I wasn't playing for a bit when the DnD sets replaced the core sets half a decade ago). so the triggered ability from the fire breathing doesn't count as commander damage but the fire breathing itself certainly can pump him up big. how do you do it? Jeska's Will with like an Anvil of Bogardan thats been up awhile?
Recommend me an interesting commander to build around. I favor black, blue, and red. Jank preferred
>>98798294>burnished hart has been outclassed by Pony Boywhile 4 mana for a cultivate is 'probably' better than 6 for an explosive vegetation, they ultimately have different effects.
>>98798294>burnished hart has been outclassed by Pony BoyBurnished Hart still has the benefit of being able to be used the moment you have the mana for it. Troop Of Ponies needs the mana and needs to be able to tap.
>>98798323In line with the TQ I suggest this guy. I'm sure there's some way to make him work.

>>98798323this general brings back the mana burn rule and then you add a bunch of cards (red has them) that doubles mana from lands like Mana Flare and shit like Mana Web. although its a bummer cards like Piracy are in blue that effetely make players want to tap out their lands in response (mana web ends up with a similar effect though).

The most important thing to remember about damage doublers is combat damage for trample is assigned before the damage is dealt. If you have a 6/6 with trample that does double damage being blocked by a 5/5, the creature is assigned 5 damage which is doubled, and the player is assigned 1 damage, which is doubled.

>>98799332This is why Yugioh is better
>>98799332I don't mind this to the extent of bluffing, like pretending you have the god counterspell ready to go but you're actually holding a hand of lands, that's a natural and even fun part of the gameBut it can go too far, you shouldn't be allowed to lie or mislead about a cards text. If your opponent asks about a card, you should have to read all the text.
>>98799335People will think that statement is a joke, but it's true. Konami just updated the deckbuilding costs of 316 cards in Genesys while WotC is out here saying that a Rhystic Study ban would complicate the format's identity too much.
I have my own issues with YGO, but I will firmly defend its text. Yes the meme is that there's a lot of text, but honestly, not really, 95% of cards have less text than a single tweet, and most of the text is just clarifying things like when you can and can't special summon it, where it goes when it dies etc. Play it for a bit and you'll start to understand the language of the game pretty fast. Reading the card genuinely does explain the card in YGO, unlike banding, flanking, horsemanship, mutate, et al Magic
>>98799346Yugiohs text issue is caused by a refusal to use keywords.A "Flying, Vigilance, Trample, first strike, Ward 2" would be a ton of text without keywords.

I play Commander at the LGS regularly because it is my social outlet, but honestly my TCG passion lies with playing Yugioh Masterduel. Learning a new Yugioh deck is much more compelling than learning a new deck in Commander.
>>98799995I checked out of MD with Maliss, shit got too unfun and ridiculous. Has it got better?
>>98799989burn = win by dealing damage directly to the opponent's face, with spells like lightning bolt or fireball, or with other effects aggro = win by positioning aggressively and spending resources quickly, often associated with attacking some aggro decks are also burn decks. a lot of burn decks are also aggro decks, but not all. sometimes a burn win strategy is more focused on finding specific combo pieces than it is on aggression. sometimes the "burn" deck kinda wins by just existing, like zo-zu. but it's always about affecting player's life totals (and their creatures) with direct damage. that's what makes it burn also burn and aggro are more relevant strategies in 1v1 magic. they certainly exist in edh but the format discourages it somewhat.

>>98798991Important to note that the player taking the damage chooses the order in which they apply each replacement effectso they double, double, then add whatever's left if you have any "deal an additional x damage" shit
>>98801517Animate Dead is already pushing it and there's two additional lines
>>98801253With how bad my friends are at ending games that's a very real possibility
>>98801628That sounds fantastic, I wish I had a group like that.
>>98801663Personally I wish we could do more than one game per evening
>>98801708Cherish these times
>>98799702KWADB
>>98799725It was like $380 usd. It was moderately played but I was able to Qtip to wipe a lot of the crud off. I like to pick up a good reserve list card once a year.
I just found out that EDHfags think yo can only scoop at sorcery speed. People are house ruling all sorts of insane shit, I doubt commander players even know the rules. This is genuine insanity
>>98802075How would they stop you from leaving?

>>98802182>can only be viewed on an appwhat the fuck is this shit?
>>98799002>Tell me how to make my ownWhat exactly do you need help with?
>>98802188Aww man
>>98802188Some really badly drawn futa art of magic characters or something.
>>98802205But like, since when did twitter do that? This is the first time I've seen it demand I put this shit on a phone to see a post.
>>98802075It's polite to scoop at sorcery speed. However, that's not in the comprehensive rules.>Oh God guys, I think I'm having a heart attack, call an ambulance >'fraid not friend, I'm holding priority.
>>98800473People who back away from that attack are cowards and deserve to feel bad. I don't negotiate with terrorists, and full swing, including my value pieces at the faggot.
>>98802075Could I scoop at instant speed when my homie casts white Dack Fayden to stop his gay little combo
>>98802251I mean. Not really. as long as he can blink dack once there's a pretty good chance he'll get to his combo lines anyway, and even with one opponent the deck is set up to always hit a creature that can blink him, to find the next, to find the next etc.
scooping is a special action that does not use the stack
Yes I'm going to scoop whenever I want. No you can't stop me.
Remember kids, all permanents you own cease to exist when you scoop, even if your opponents control themUse this to your advantage to spite the theft/reanimator player you hate!
>I board wipe>I Tefari's your board wipe >Okay, it resolve. Now I scoop>Uh, okay I didn't cast Tefari's then>No, you did, it resolved>NO IM NO WASTING MY TPRO
If i have your permanents under my control, scooping creates replacement token permanents that are exiled from the battlefield or stack at whenever i think is reasonable timing
>>98802251You realize slotting interaction is usually easier, right?
>>98802451LATE BAKE>>98802451
>oh this is a non deterministic combo?>yeah i scoop>no you don't get to induce me to 10 minutes of your solitare>Im gonna go smoke a cigg while I wait for next game
