>>98879012>Do you build decks with a variety of different playstyles, or do you just like building the same archetype with different commanders/colors?I thought I did different playstyles but it turns out I make decks that usually have one explosive turn where they win in one way or another.
>>98879012>non-BorgIs this a safety net to ignore changelings?
>>98879043It's both thematically appropriate and mechanically sound, they did the same thing in the past with non-brushwagg
>>98879043Yes, otherwise it's just x = 1000 or some shit
>>98879012>TQ I like trying out multiple different styles. I feel like that's what I like so much about Magic is that there's so many commanders to use that everyone can find something they enjoy.
>>98879012>TQI tend to build decks up from my spare cards which inevitably leads me back the same couple archetypes I've got bulk for. If I'm ordering something brand new I'll try to keep it fresh.

>>98879055>thematically appropriateWrong, the federation has a number of borg serving in starfleet.
>>98879099>Magic is overYet here you are consooming Magic! Guess it's not as over as you think it is.
>>98879106Yes, magic has been over since war of the spark it's just gotten even more over in recent times.
How does my bro hold up in 2026? Too old and busted?
>>98879112some of us continue to play with our now old existing collections, playing a game is not the same as giving money to the corporation raping it's memory.I know it's hard for paypiggies to wrap their heads around this concept though.
>>98879106>no see they put gay leftoid shit in flavor text this one time nearly 10 years ago!!! It's totally the same!!!!
>>98879116not the worst option for a shadowborn apostles deck
>>98879111Regardless it is thematically appropriate to have a borg vs federation subtheme in the star trek MTG set.
>>98879112I'm not consuming it though because I have never bought any of your UB slop
>>98879122not when that mechanic directly states borg cant be in the federation.7 of 9.
>>98879119>no see mtg lore is totally serious and deep! it's totally on a higher level than spiderman and trek!!!daily reminder that UWfags lost bigly
>>98879123
>>98879124Sure, twittoid.
>>988791277 of 9 only joins when she was no longer borg, lorelet
>>98879129>proUB sperg is back immediately after the thread where people were getting posts deleted for saying proUBsperg and gaybolasfag are the same personReally makes ya hmmmm, don't it?
>>98879136clearly you've never watched the showbeing borg and being part of the collective are not the same thing, she is very specifically borg forever the show repeatedly made a big fucking deal about how she could never be unborged.
UB doesn’t have trannies.
>>98879124animefags have done more in gatekeeping trannies than any UWfaggot
>>98879116Much better if you can get him in before turn 5 obviously, which isn't too horribly unlikely as in you're in black. Even still though, if you've got a free sac outlet and a few value creatures (or creatures like ravenous rats) out, you can be living in money town every turn of a turn cycle. His main issue is of course the chance you overcommit and sac everything and he gets removed and suddenly you have nothing, and I believe we are in a time where there's a much higher density of removal in decks, so just be wary of that. It's a good reason to put more targeted or general discard in the deck or make it more part of the general gameplan so you can clear the way.
>>98879142>being borg and being part of the collective are not the same thing>but even though she's no longer part of the borg collective i will still refer to her being borg because that's her skin color duhyou may not agree with gene roddenberry, but afaik as he was concerned anything that could still be called borg in 7 of 9 is trivial and unimportant
>>98879139>anybody who thinks UW is laughably shit is the same personok schizo

>>98879153>His main issue is of course the chance you overcommit and sac everything and he gets removed and suddenly you have nothing, and I believe we are in a time where there's a much higher density of removal in decks, so just be wary of that.Yeah that was my experience playing him 10 years ago. Targeted discard seems like a good solution but there ain't much of it that gets everyone so you sort of have to guess who's most likely to get you with the targeted pieces you do have.
>>98879177>I’ll have a billion niggers in my assVery progressive of you. At the end of the day, that's what "infinite diversity" is all about
>>98879124>>98879118>I'm not consooming product! >>98879200We get it, you love the BBC. You already got your race mixing cards and Infinite Diversity, you don't have to keep screaming for more
Honestly does anyone actually give a fuck about Star Trek? Who thought this would mesh well with magic?
>>98879188If you play with the same people enough, or if you're just real good at reading the room and commanders and their design decisions, you can get a pretty good feel who has the removal you're scared of, as a good starting point for your targeted discard. It's a shame he's not orzhov, you'd have access to Tidehollow Sculler. You don't have to make sure every bit of your discard plan relies on creatures, of course, it's a fantastic deck for cabal therapy. Also look into stuff like Kaya's Ghostform. They've printed quite a few 1 mana black cards that can save creatures in recent times. "Fake Your Own Death" for one of the instant speed ones.
>>98879198Mini Tooth. Good for persist combos.
>>98879118i love how the UWfaggot immediately starts preaching the virtues of nativism (which he doesn't actually seriously believe in btw) the moment it relates to his favorite children's card game

>>98879206Honestly does anyone actually give a fuck about UW? Who thought that is even worth defending?
>>98879206Me. And me. Edge of Eternities eradicated any argument that space isn't Magic related many sets ago.

We've gone from ritualposts to ritual arguments. I'm starting to think this general might suck balls.
If the card has ugly art, I don't play it. I don't care how good the card is. I'll take an eraser to the card If I need to.
>>98879238huh? i'm very happy with what i gotspare me from your projection
>>98879238A Troon believing only one person disagrees with them is a common occurrence.>>98879240It’s that the -UBfags won’t use their containment thread so they keep brigading the general because they enjoy impotently seething.
>>98879144Anime is pretty much the postchild for what failed gatekeeping looks like. The hobby is infested with casuals who only watch the popular shonen series then act like their opinion on other anime matters. Anime exists now as a cheap marketing vehicle to get puppeteered by non-Japanese companies to market. Chinese and Korean made webtoons, non-Japanese games, vtubers, gatcha, AI, and even stuff like Magic's anime styles are kicking up in feet in the house anime built and masquerading as the real thing. Popular anime conventions have moved away from anime as the main focus and are mostly about the aforementioned things now. Magic's gatekeeping has failed don't get me wrong, but no subculture failed to defend itself from casual faggots than animefags in the 2010s and during covid.
>>98879142
>Star Trek never had anything to do with or influence in Magic-ACK!
>tqI like my decks to do different things. And as someone with 2 'within' decks and 2 'beyond' decks>UW>UBFor pete's sake I just like playing commanders who I think are cool!If you care about what cardboard other people use you might need to move on with your lives.
how did your last game go? I won with this nigga tonight so I feel pretty good.
>>98879099if Homelands and Mirroding/Kamigawa era didnt kill magic, then nothing will kill it.
>>98879206Me, so far this is a more interesting set than basically everything Magic put out this year.>Hurr durr le generic tribal set with elementals that have the funny keyword>Le EPIC ninja pizza set>Le Harry Potter with serial numbers filed off to own the chuds>Le EPIC Marvel set>Le EPIC Marvel set with serial numbers filed off and the worst mechanics every conceived by mankindTrek is singlehandedly salvaging this whole dogshit year and carrying it on its back.
>>98879223Edge of eternity was shat out just for you mouth breathers to point at and go SEE! SEE! SPACE HAS ALWAYS BEEN APART OF MAGIC YOU CHUD! it's incredibly transparent to anyone with a brain stem. Same with UB cards using the normal borders so people can't just instantly dismiss at a glance and same with the next mahvel set being "meshed into magics lore" you don't make these moves because UB is broadly and unanimously accepted
>>98879252>the topic is whether mtg gatekept the trannies>no it didn't>but actually anime did, thanks UB!>...well, anime didn't gatekeep HARD ENOUGH FOR MY TASTES so take that!enjoy your le epic modern day AAA roru rumao
>>98879241You're right on all of them except for the blackula
>>98879281>it's incredibly transparent to anyone with a brain stemclearly you don't have one, because you're the only one here who is bitter and can't let go of his ex girlfriend (which happens to be a kid's card game)
It was nice of them to print benevolent blessing so I can protect my wife light-paws from swords to plowshares without removing her other auras. Can't add any more auras to her afterwards though unfortunately but it's better than her being gone.I'm glad I got a Galadriel's Dismissal when it was cheap, that card is absurdly busted on both modes.
Magic systematically failed at any sort of gatekeeping because the playerbase couldn't even gatekeep their wallets from the sets that led up to the dumpster fire they allegedly hate.A sane person would see a company introduce mythic rarity, then introduce a format-warping universal staple in the very next set, then say "I will not continue buying this product until they abolish mythic rarity." Instead they scrambled to buy the obligatory 4-of mythic staple, even taking out actual fucking leases to afford their decks, for 2 years.
>>98879058Surely that's a reasonable payoff for 9 mana.
>>98879308Truth Bomb. Mythics were the real beginning of the end, especially with Lotus Cobra.
>>98879312No that would be them introducing the reserved list, printing Urza's Saga, then conveniently ending the reserved list right after the strongest block in history.
>>98879304But my ex is still here? Nothing is stopping me from playing with the cards I already own and nothing is convincing me to buy UB
>>98879311No! Only UB cards are allowed to have ridiculous numbers for high mana costs!!!!
>>98879290Not the same guy you were talking to just pointing out anime got co-opted by casuals like you who love chinese gatcha trash. You aren't welcome to have an opinion.
personally, I like UB
>>98879252Tranime doesn't gatekeep trannies. It creates trannies. It glorifies being an anime girl and makes autists obsess over it. Shit like Lucky Star made them want to troon out to become an anime school girl. It's sick shite that will rot your brain and turn you into coomer tranny filth.
>>98879238Imagine being this delusional and retarded to cope with the fact you're the worst poster in a thread where everyone hates you. Reminder that you're an actual imbecile polfag.
>>98879319One could argue that this whole game is just 25 years of compounding terrible decisions.
>>98879311The main problem is it forces you to look up how many creature types exist at any given time.Realistically any card that's like 6+ mana could read "You win the game," and not change 60-card formats at all (hell, they probably wouldn't even change cEDH). However it also wouldn't be particularly interesting.
>>98879329
UB is one of my favorite decks in legacy but in commander I feel it is quite underpowered generally speaking, I'd prefer any other color to pair with blue than black. The only nuts busted UB list i've seen was a friend's yuriko list. I suppose B has lots of cheap creature removal which pairs well with blue's counters so you can let creatures resolve and only fight over noncreature things, but still.
>>98879208There are a couple guys that do a pretty good Tidehollow Sculler impression at the very least.
can't stand these new UB cards with bullshit art that doesn't belong in MTG
>>98879304>Children's card gameWeird how youre so savy with the sales numbers on which sets sell but don't understand this game is almost exclusively played by people 30+ years old. And appeal to triviality yet you still really really really really need to get your way doesn't work in the big two six you need to come up with new plays
>>98879242>>98879250>almost exactly 1min apartIt’s so shameless it’s insulting
>>98879339Anon I know you're trying to be clever but any UB deck at minimum has access to Thoracle combo
Here come UB fag's melty. Once again.
So proUBfag is just going to piss all over the thread and then treat it as a win when other people leave to get away from him?
>>98879348The real value of sculler is the fact that his peak at the hand ability and return the card ability are separate, which is unlike any of the creatures you've posted where it's all in the same line. This means you can have Sculler enter and have his first ability go on the stack, then sacrifice him so his second ability goes on the stack, then when the stack resolves you will have exiled a card from an opponent's hand permanently. They hardly ever template cards like this anymore to prevent tricks like this, I don't think black has any reasonably costed creature with 1 power that does it like this. And looking at sculler again he's 2 power anyway so lol, but still.
>>98879328Nah
>>98879371And yet you have your own safe space thread? Then again no one bothers going there though lol
>>98879378Pretty cool, I think some of the old O-Ring and Fiend Hunter type cards work like this too if I remember correctly.
>>98879371>>98879370
>>98879328>gacha trash>when mtg was the OG gachaThe fucking newfags itt who think they have an opinion worth anything kek

Am i a massive faggot for dropping a pod because one dude plays b5 and the rest of us are using precons? Ganging up on one dude so he doesn't consult + thoracle just so i can play magic doesn't feel very fun I'm trans if this matters
>>98879332Is that why japan has the least number of trannies in the G7?
>>98879415it's always right to concede
You know I sometimes wonder where the doublethink comes from when it comes to Izzet VS literally any other deck that makes 20+ mana in one turn then wastes a ton of time spinning its wheels.
>>98879323Nobody here is telling you to buy UB, have fun in your bubbleBut only one here (You) is really mad that UB exists and is the face of the game lol
>>98879371>antiubfag is sperging out and shitting up another thread>You, a retard: "Man those guys who don't care about UB sure are a problem right fellow kids?"
>>98879353>the 30+ year old paying audience will switch to the adventures of tam and friends (aka tranny jace, foids, and furries) soon enough, two more weeks!
>>98879412Marvel ruined Magic! Marvel aesthetics don't fit into Magic at all!
>>98879403Oh duh, mesmeric fiend does it perfectly. And yeah, there are a few cards in that o-ring-like category that have split templating, and the funny things you could do with them are why they're pretty much all put into one ability now too.
is it worth building a Talrand deck if I don't want to spend too much money? I haven't played magic in years and I have some old cards from innistrad to khans
>>98879437EDH is a casual game. You can easily run Talrand and a bunch of mono blue spell slinging cards in a bracket 2 game.
>>98879437if you're just going to fill it with mostly cheap cantrips and some decent but not the best counter spells ever printed, it won't run you all that much at all. Most cantrips are dirt cheap, and the incredibly good ones like Flow State and Stock up are both only like a dollar. They also just printed a new reducer and she's a dollar.
>>98879437This card impressed me in my last deck. It would go well with Talrand.
>>98879431Honestly the fact they use real people we all know as 'art' really takes me out of the game like what's next; David Bowie??
>>98879437Just buy a precon and stomp the avg b2 deck
>>98879464checked the 30$ precons list but honestly I find them boring

After all their ships come in more shapes than fat.I'd ask why they didn't depict more than 3 (star trek) races but why dance around the obvious answer.>>98879099In some ways you have to realise it isn't now over, it has been for more years than is comfortable to remember. For example, how long did #1488 last? Did they ever get around to banning the card that kills all White creatures? Harhar.
Seeing a lot of cards from these remastered sets where they give them the old borders makes me wish they never changed them. This isn't even a nostalgia thing as i started well after that but it's a whole different vibe.
>>98879099It is perfectly inline with star trek.

>>98879872>>98879877It will. Sea monsters are a favorite of some designfag at WotC. They already have a ridiculous amount of great support for being an only mildly popular tribe. I mean getting a whole ass setting for themselves is nuts when angels still haven't gotten shit despite being one of the top ten most popular tribes.

>>98879822Hey look, a sensible and reasonable approach to turn time. Sure wish at least 75% of people who play the game had this mindset instead of like 25% or less
>>98879925It would do you well to look at other formats once in a while. It's a part of your manabase in some decks in other formats, it lets you have fewer lands and have a draw 3 later to close out games. It's an absurdly good card. Most of the 1 mana land cyclers from that set are, and I think multiple were banned in pauper.

>>98879950I'll never get over the game where I put a wedding ring on a Sephiroth player and his mind just imploded.
>>98879982>>98880004Yeah, it is nice, I'm glad you realize this. I'm sure there are power/annoying strategies you like that WotC has printed cards specifically for, I would like to see and read about them! I mean this, in earnest, show me the Commanders and cards YOU like that other people don't!
>>98880005Well. While that would also send me through a loop, I'm also surprised he didn't just send every trigger and attacking creature your way. Also, dammit anon, now you're forcing me to cut a pet card for Gate to Phyrexia.
>>98879939Angels are basically extinct in UW too. Although they're an extremely popular tribe Angels still haven't cracked 300 creatures and the overwhelming majority of those are terrible. We're lucky if we get even 1 decent new angel every 2-3 sets. Yet Giada is currently #11 on edhrec despite being monowhite and doing almost nothing to correct any of the problems angel tribal has, showing that players are desperate for any even remotely viable angel commanders/creatures.Wizards themselves hate angels with a passion though, since their favorite story in any setting with a lot of them in it is to write guro where the angels get horrifically murdered by the boring jobber villains to make them seem threatening to Jace's (sorry - TAM's) quirk chungus marvel brigade. An angel focused plane set would sell like crazy but Wizards hates attractive women and goodness in general so they'd rather make pg13 whacky races and cowboys without guns sets. The only way we'd ever see an angel focused set with attractive characters and a pleasing story in the future is if they adapt some angel focused UB franchise, though currently I can't think of any that have enough nerd appeal for Hasbro to crossover with them.
>>98880024He didn't have much of a board to send at me, he just had warren soul trader and gravecrawler and just started to do his loop before he realized the interaction.

>>98880038She's wildly overcosted but RF Avacyn has good art and a half decent mechanic so I have a soft spot for her.In terms of being fairly costed and having decent abilities, for IMO good (or at least playable) new angels we've gotten in the last three years:Lyra, Archangel of Dawn RFAExemplar of Light FDNExalted Sunborn EOEMerchant of Truth MKCResplendent Angel LCISigarda, Font of Blessings MATDrana and Linvala MOMShalai and Hallar MOMHalf that list disappears if you exclude 2023 and you can't even play all those angels in the same deck since they're different colors. Well I guess you could use that Seluma angel from the upcoming mystery booster set, even though she's awful.
>>98878536>>98876742Really? How lame. Well it's worth a shot trying the "you can't play boardwipes now as they would be mld which is forbidden" prank on lgs randos. Will report back
>>98880035Their entire problem is their commander selection is just crap top to bottom. They're a bunch of fine in the 99 mono color cards with some crappy multicolor build arounds. Compare them to dragons who also fly and have bare minimum low cost creatures. Dragons have awesome multicolor bomb commanders to ramp into while angels get stuck stuff like this. Angel players are clinging to Giada cause the other options are crap like Sigarda and Kaalia or some other discordant thing instead of table shaking value beasts like Miirym and Ureni.
sometimes I just look at glup shittos that nobody plays. like I think this card is pretty okay for instance, if your deck is running a lot of low drops that like entering or attacking, such as Faithful Companion and Elvish Visionary, or Ragavan and Silent Hallcreeper. I like having Serra Angels lying around on early turns. I wonder what kind of deck runs the highest concentration of cheap creatures like that.

I am kinda new in the game but i have a question. If I cast a sorcery and my opponent cast a spell that copies it, how the hell can my opponent cast a sorcery copy during my turn? Isn't sorcery spells only castable during your main phase?
>>98880274There are lots of ways to cheat sorceries out in other phases. Some spells require you to check the timing before you can cast your stolen exiles sorcery, but spells that put a copy of a sorcery onto the stack resolve immediately and the copy ceases to exist as soon as it leaves the stack.
>>98880274Three thingsSpells and abilities that let you cast things "in that moment" (aka during resolution) bypass timing restrictions. Example: Etali primal stormIf there is a window, normal timing rules apply. Example: Urza lord high artificerMost spells that copy don't actually cast, they just put a copy onto the stack. Example: Twin cast. Your friend is just putting a copy of something on the stack during his copying spell's resolution, not casting a sorcery during your turnNote: "without paying its mana cost" or actually casting the copy or not has nothing to do with when you can do it. The golden rule is if it's during resolution (bypass timing) or at a later time (timing rules apply)With this you can figure out the rest but feel free to ask
>>98880271my deck is all removal
>>98880301I seeOpponent casted pic related, bouncing my sorcery and playing a copy. I have to guess I can't cast the bounced spell until all effects from pic related has taken effect, right?
>>98880318You can't cast your sorcery again because it's a sorcery, not because of timing. You can't cast anything while doing the separate effects of a single spell, but you could cast the sorcery again if you had something that let you play sorceries "as though they had flash/anytime you could play/cast an instant". Like this:>you cast your sorcery>opp casts reversal>opp and you pass priority, aka "it's okay for reversal to resolve">two things happen, opp puts a copy of the sorcery on the stack with new targets, then bounces your sorcery to hand. In between all those, no one can cast anything>reversal fully resolved, now there's a copy of the sorcery on the stack>because something resolved, there's another round of priority and you can cast things>you can't cast the sorcery because the stack isn't empty, but you could cast an instant, activate a non "as a sorcery" ability, or recast the sorcery with the aforementioned method, before the sorcery copy resolves and does its effectIt can sound complicated at first but it's really not after you work it through in your head a handful of times

>>98880569Some places will do pairings for you. Check if game stores nearby have a scheduled commander night or something, they are likely to pair up pods for you if you are too introverted to just walk up to somebody and ask.
>>98880714The only place I've been to that did pairings also had a bunch of people who did a "they're not done with pairings yet, we can get a round in before they're done if we're quick, c'mon" so it'll vary significantly.
>>98880569One piece of advice I can give is show up on-time or a bit early to when the posted "commander event" starts. That way you have a higher probability of getting a pod if you arrive before all the pods are formed.Sometimes you go for a random pick-up game, and every has pods-of-4 already made, there's no one for you to play with, and you just go home. That's just how it is sometimes.
>>98880671>But we both know they just don't actually know that it was star trek that had the first aired interracial kiss.Because it didn't. Fuck, in I love lucy she was kissing ricky. >>98881211All this does is shift the narrative to the even more comically implausible notion that local game stores, which are more directly attached to players, are completely incapable of gauging player demand for a product. If you applied this same method of catastrophizing to Reality Fracture then it's a set nobody wanted and is also "rotting on the shelves" (unless it's not on the shelves, in which case it's because stores knew not to order it). It's very strange that people try to maintain this agenda even in the face of WotC routinely making press releases about how immensely successful the UB sets are doing, and how they're trying to ramp up production of them to match demand. If WotC was lying they would be saying one thing and doing another. However what they're doing is saying UB is selling insanely well, stores and players can't get enough of it, and ramping up production. This is backed by how TCGplayer also routinely reports UB sets and cards as their highest-volume items for MtG, including "failed" sets like TMT. The reality is that MtG as an IP was always comically weak (more people can name Black Lotus than Urza or Jace) which is why UB has so much draw.

Is there a general guideline on when to best buy singles from a new set?Like if I want some cards from Reality Fracture, would now be the right time to get them because it's been enough weeks for many people to rip boxes? I'm looking at some older sets and good cards seem to then once again go up in price over time. I'd like to spend as little as I can obviously, so... Example in pic
>>98881238I mean, I'm not saying some UB sets are selling hand over fist. All of that is irrelevant, the sales that Wotc reports are just the sales distributors buy that are then bought by a LGS.They have made their money at that point. My take on UB, which no one else has ever posted before, is that I'm ok with it if the UB IP fits into the Magic world and it suits the aesthetics and vibe
Surely you're going to use this in a Hearthhull deck right anon?
>>98881328>usually easier to wait for rotationAnon, sets rotate out of standard after 3 years now.
>>98881329Personally, I like UB
>>98881277Pressure from WotC manifests in a minimum order size to maintain WPN status. The last two times we know this happened were with OTJ and DFT where WotC sent out reminders to stores that they wouldn't get MH3 or TDM/FIN if they didn't order the minimum count. There's no record of similar notices being sent out for SPM or TMT and I'm 100% certain they would be all over the place if they existed because that would be a smoking gun for the "nobody buys bad UB" narrative. It would be very strange for WotC to jack up the minimum order count so high that it forces a set to be an all-time bestseller.
>>98881329my take on UB is that I am ok with it as long as its not animeshit like final fantasy and avatar.I am fine with marvel sets
>>98881332nothing is easier than inactionjust finished up getting singles from DMU, BRO, ONE and MOM.Still gotta look at the aftermath cards but I lost interest in singles for the time being.
>>98881345Possibly the worst take
>>98881330I can't remember a single episode where Riker cooks
>>98881328So you're saying phyrexia all will be one should have fallen after going out of rotation, right? But it looks like buying it after just a few weeks would have been even better
>>98881351anime style does not fit with Magic at allSay whatever you want about the marvel sets and the upcoming star trek set, but at least the artstyle on those sets looks western. If i want animeshit I'd be playing yugioh or pokemon
>>98881362Yeah this card looks great and not like someone's joke custom shit >>98881040
>>98881362If you hate anime you wouldnt play tcgs, just look at the vast majority of them
>>98881361in general yesin specifics im not sure, theres a chance that card went up for reasons other than scarcityI do think buying after the print run is over is probably best here in the edh dominated era, but tracking print runs is more time consuming than just waiting for rotation. I have a big enough collection, I don't really NEED any more cards.
>>98881351he did it on purposewelcome to /edhg/
>>98881353It's the opening of one episode. He's making scrambled eggs and everyone talks it up as a big impressive skill that he's cooking without using the replicator. Then it turns out tasting terrible.
>>98881329The thing is, they don't care about that, and those are actually in the minority. LOTR, avatar, what else? Dnd is barely UB, maybe you could argue 40k and FF, but certainly not new york 3 times over and star trek. People don't trust UB because wotc has shown they can't handle it responsibly, and now you're stuck with bean me up leotardo forever in your game
>>98881361thanks got i got my mondrak by trading my atraxa grand unifier back in the prerelease
>>98881383It was also supposed to be an omelette
>>98881383oh so they immortalized this humiliation on his showcase cardunderstood
>>98881370it's not that i hate anime stylewhat i mean is the artstyle doesn't belong in mtg. Fucking imagine if pokemon had a more western artstyle and pokemons looked like the ones in that detective pikachu movie. It simply doesn't fit
>>98881386Well obviously, who would trust them at this point? Just saying I'm ok with the likes of LOTR or FF but seeing Capeshit just annoys me
>>98881361A timmy staple like mondrak won't ever fall in price until they reprint it.
More time in the oven. Hope it helped.>Woodfall poisons stagnant waters>Snowfall cools the area and prevents growth>Great Bay muddies and dilutes the waters>Stone Tower makes you flip your libraryThe deck will be bant so I had to work around Woodfall not having a black mana symbol but still interacting with swamps. Same for Snowhead.
>>98881404Looks just fine
>>98881408That's what I'm getting at, I'm fine with those two but slippery slope is real and this one slammed no brakes full speed into capeshit, so I might as well have none. As much as I like Gandalf, I'd have no Gandalf and no capeshit rather than have both
>>98881428looks weird>>98881408capeshit is fineif wotc bring some animeshit like genshin impact, I am selling my cards and never look back.
OH BOY! FREE MANA IN THE COMMAND ZONE AND FREE GRAVEFILL! THANKS WOTC FOR BEING TO CREATIVELY BRANKRUPT!
>>98881441>if wotc bring some animeshit like genshin impactthats where you draw the line? not after the clusterfuck of dr. who or star trek but genshin impact?
>>98881408Hypocrisy defeats the argument, it's all or noneI choose none.
>>98881450He's either trolling or not worth talking to if he thinks Dr. Who and Miles Morales are cool
>>98881450>thats where you draw the line? not after the clusterfuck of dr. who or star trek but genshin impact?that's correctI enjoyed dr who and bought one of the commander decks.>>98881457I will admit the spiderman set was kinda shit
>>98881454There is nothing hypocritical about my stance being "I'm ok with the ones that fit the vibe". That's my opinion. I'd also accept a Souls UB cause I can easily imagine hundreds of cards fitting in just fine. That said, if I got to choose I'd also rather have none at all. Because WOTC is evidently not sticking to just UBs that fit the vibe.
>>98881466FF doesn't, its scifi so the "vibe" you're going for is "my subjective likes" and that applies to everyone, so you're a hypocrite. All, or none.
>>98881475nta but I'd say FF is sufficiently fantasy to fit. Way more that fucking dr who. Regardless I'm also on the all or none take and I also choose one
The kind of tech FF has with gunblades and flying gunships and such fits into Magic fine
Hello anons,Sorry for not reporting last week's tournament. I've been a bit busy lately. To make it short, i placed 4th place from 12 players. I just got bullied by some 5 color superfriend deck with Tam, a boros voltron deck with Feather and rakdos Kardur deck (my fault I guess for filling my field too quickly).
>>98881447anyone who plays ramp/draw in the zone is a numbskull
>>98881427These sorts of effects are simply too strong to have on a land drop. Normally you'd be paying 3+ mana for the sorts of enchantments that fuck with lands this much. If you want my suggestions, I would instead do something with Time counters. Maybe you're adding them like a Storage land, maybe you're removing them to 'complete' the temple. That could be a way to have Woodfall be a swamp. Enters tapped with some time counters, you can tap it for colorless while taking damage and removing counters, and then once it has no time counters it can become a Forest Swamp.
>>98881466Bloodborne should be part of the bonus slots for whatever the next Innistrad set is like how Jurassic Park got in to Ixalan
>>98881427You somehow made them even stronger than the previous version because now the opportunity cost for their benefit is even lower. Almost no lands provide passive value in any form, let alone something as strong as making opposing lands enter tapped or issuing poison counters every turn. Look at Glacial Chasm which doesn't tap for mana at all, has cumulative upkeep, sacs another land on entry, and blanks your own combat, and it still ended up a GC.
>>98881427Woodfall Temple is busted
>>98881450To be fair, spiderman and who sucked shit but at least they weren't Chinese
Local group wants to try doing a full anything goes uncards day sometime just for shits Sounds fun, but how will it really go? Anyone tried?`
>>98881612R&D's Secret Lair and you can pretty much shop for problem cards.
>>98881447huh? this doesnt have eminence. it only does its abilities on the battlefield.and if you want to go through the effort of tapping, sacc'ing command beacon to get her from the command zone to your hand just to be 1 card in the yard, then I think your stratagem may need some work. pic rel if you want to add some counters on a critterhope this helps
is it worth building a madness deck with pic related?
>>98881507If it were possible to be granular and still have ground to stand on I'd probably agree, at least for FF's 1-6 and 9, much more argument to be had for the remainder. But it's not, I will not die on the hill of "things I like are okay as exceptions" not ever.If I want FF I'll fire up the emulator and play, if I want Tolkien I'll open the books and read.
>>98881475final fantasy is one of THE most on flavor UB sets they've ever done. its all wizards, warriors etc. tons of stuff interacting with the party mechanic used in DnD. Vivi is the top card and it's literally a black mage. It's all inspired by the same high fantasy stuff that DnD and original MTG was which is everything from LOTR to King Arthur to Nordic shit to Samurai stuff. and final fantasy the core of it is games 1-10. hope that helps>>98881507dr who is wack flavor wise but getting stuff like white phyrexian arena is nuts. how this card is 75¢ still is crazy (pic rel)
>>98881664it only draws 3 cards in total and then it goes in the graveyard
>>98881660I'm under the impression that anje is "very good, in fact"Better question, is it "ahn-ya" (doesn't make sense with innistrad's linguistics sources), "aanj" or "aanj-ee" (short for Angelica or similar names)
>>98881660looks like a shitty commanderi doubt madness will get more support, considering that Mayhem is a better madness since you are not forced to cast the card the moment its discarded
>>98881663long term players like myself have wanted a final fantasy crossover for a long time. I remember getting serious into MTG with roommates back in like 2010 and playing FFV on my DS and 8 on my PSX and wishing it would happenpeople on MTG forums, on MTGO, my one roommate and his brother who had played since the 90s all said "it will never happen, EVER"well look who has goo on their face now?
>>98881668and there 900 white cards that let you return permanents with mana value 3 or less from the yard to the field. new ones in reality frac
>>98881475FF has as much sci fi as dnd or mtg do, it's robots and flying castles still function on magic and bullshit, same as the handful of cars
So with all the Borg cards giving buffs to artifact creatures as a whole, which artifact creatures do you think will spike in price.
>>98881683>players like myself have wantedAnd therein lies the problem. You are not every player, your fraction of agreeing players (whatever the size) does not fucking matter as it is not 100% of players.Quantifying your subjective desires as okay means EVERY players subjective desires are okay.All.Or.None.Do you know what that means? That means you advocate for MLP or you advocate for UB being inexcusable.
>>98881688fucking thispeople forget Urza's power armor looked like this
>>98881660It will certainly make madness more playable. The big issue is the simple fact that you are forced to use it or lose it upon discard, which is very awkward to time correctly.
>>98881697quote from you:>You are not every player, real fact:>FF being top selling magic set of all timeyour statement has been DEBUNKED
>>98881683I was playing back in 2010 too and I never once wanted crossovers. That sort of thing is best reserved for the fandom to play with, not the company to make official. I remember when I was an even wee-er lad, I used to take up the whole dining table to play with lego star wars, a bucket of plastic army men, and I think Hot Wheels cars got involved. Fun in my head, but if I were to ever see any of that be legitimately advertised together, I'd die of embarrassment toward my hobby. Some ideas should just stay in the head.
>>98881516neat blogwhere do I unsubscribe?
>>98881663Ye ye I agree with you. The legend of Aang is probably my fav show ever but it was still not worth it to have it in mtg because that means having doctor spork or whatever the hell he's called as well
>>98881719That doesn't mean fuck all moron, many of us never bought it, many who did buy it aren't players.Fuck, even a sixth grader in debate club knows these basic fallacies.
>>98881728>even a sixth grader in debate club knows these basic fallacies.like this one?>That means you advocate for MLP or you advocate for UB being inexcusable.
>>98881683long term players like myself have wanted a Spongebob crossover for a long time. >>98881692*replicates blightsteel colossus a bunch of times*
>>98881736That's the opposite of a fallacy, that's consistency.Outside IP is either on the table, or off the table.Once any outside IP is on the table the only distinguishing factor between one or the other is subjective taste and that is arbitrary, you can't even argue it on the grounds of scifi or not thanks to nu-kamigawa, you can't argue it on subject matter because unicorns and pegasi are in the game, you can't argue it on art style because cartoonish is pre-existing in the franchise, you can't argue it on target demographic because the game began as a children's card game.Figure it out kiddo.
>>98881758Okay but is that realistically any scarier than copying it once? Either way it's boardwipe or lose.
>>98881751
>>98881765Maybe, what about Roaming Throne?
So how long do you think it will take for this whole set to be banned?
>>98881768Even better, let's drop the pretense mask of the culture war and have sets that are truly honest about what this is all about.let's get Trump on a card, Biden, Harris, Bibi, Vivek, Musk, Gates, Microsoft, Goldman-Sachsetc... and Hitler too because all this UB shit and DEI art is really just a proxy for politics and corporate loyalties.Magic has long since ceased to be a vessel to teach mathematics in a fun way, it is virtue signaling in physical collectible form.
So what form of bitching will we get next thread?
>>98881761>>98881761no that is not the opposite of a fallacy. it is a fallacy and you are a moron. supporting popular high fantasy IPs that have either directly influenced MTG (like LOTR, The Hobbit and DnD) or share similar influences (FF, 40k) does NOT mean those people broadly support my little pony or SpongeBob or Garfield cards or whatever the fuck youre claiming >img limit reached

>>98881848I think I'm gonna make a Black Panther deck now
>>98881824They would print it in black, they would make it a 0/1 for 1 and they would try to make it's ability unplayable trash. Then some chuds would find a card interaction to break it into OP status and the leftwing tcg youtubers would seethe about it.On the table it wouldn't actually do shit because ever LGS would autoban it just on idpol reasons.

Though at that point they might end up being more like legendary enchantments rather than lands.
>>98881879They would ban the problem ones (not really) if that's the case. And anyways they do not break anything in a fundamentally retarded way like stickersThe only grounds for banning is being ugly as sin, which wotc is clearly fine with
