I recently have been re-evaluating everflowing chalice and I was very very wrongthis card is very good, Im going to start cutting a land and put it in every deck. im starting to realize you need at least 47 mana sources but more importantly, ramp in your opening hand. Which means if you are running only 10, you need to mulligan for lands and ramp instead of action.

okay, back again. need some help cutting cards. making a deck where the first sliver cascades into a small number of 4 drops (or living end). yes, i am aware that this isn't going to be an amazing powerful deck. it is just a more stupid idea than anything else, but i like playing stupid, silly decks. using split cards, adventures/omens, cycling cards, and cost reducers, i aim to have options to play the game before i hit my 5 mana to cast the first sliver. these are the current targets that i am aiming to potentially hit with a cast of the first sliver>living end>sheoldred, the apocalypse>defense of the heart>industrial advancement>maskwood nexus>smothering tithe>the one ringhttps://moxfield.com/decks/1TOSbuSUgkaqJhlPQiTsrw
https://moxfield.com/decks/132y83gzx0KeKsOnj8wiwgwhat's a good deck in this vibe
>>98910893at a glance, industrial advancement seems exceptionally mediocre. maskwood nexus is cute i guess. smothering tithe seems like a very bad hit as well.can't play keruga as companion and living end, not how that card works
>>98910938>can't play keruga as companion and living end, not how that card worksoh fuck, you're right. that was an afterthought, both were cards that i was like "hmmm, these go well with the OTHER things i'm doing!" like, keruga is good because it is card draw and an extra card in my opener for a deck built around deceptively high mana costs. living end is good because it can be cascaded into and grab all the cycled creatures. i guess i've gotta pick one or the other.>industrial advancement seems exceptionally mediocreit is kind of like birthing ritual or something like that. play first sliver, cascade into advancement, sac first sliver on endstep to look at top 5 and potentially put a 6+ drop onto the field. it is obviously not as good as defense of the heart, but i am also not looking to build any insane combos with defense of the heart either. i just want big creatures and a stupid deck concept.>smothering tithe seems like a very bad hit as well.with lots of big mana spells (either things "on an adventure" or paying for the cost instead of cycling things or the bigger half of a split spell), lots of mana is really good. smothering tithe is just a great card, never disappointed when i play it.

>>98910997what commander wins with raker
>>98911002q, stacking the deck
>supposed to put 10+ sources of extra draw in each deck>same with ramp>same with removal >in 10 games I've drawn extra ramp and draw in one game total and it didn't help and I've never drawn removal when I actually need itI'm just putting in the few best of the best draw/ramp/removal engines in my colors in case I get lucky and just stuffing the rest of my deck with goodstuff.
>>98911004you know you have to pay mana for the card q exiles rightit's like a turn 5 or 6 play and any reaction with the first or second raker sends you to the shadow realm, as would a counter on q
>>98909370Anything in particular or just in general?
>>98910997You're overthinking it. Just play 2x DBF every turn and it also clears the board for you. If you really want exponential growth for some reason you can play Shadow of the Goblin.
Huh, this card's a quarter. I guess so, proliferate decks usually don't run a lot of creatures.
why is it that so many different youtube channels and similar things talk about "making deals" in edh games? it's always phrased as shit like>i will use x removal spell on [other player]'s permanent if you promise to not attack me >i'll let your bomb resolve if you won't destroy my commander for the next two turnsand the latter ALWAYS comes with some anecdote about the other guy using bounce/exile because "teehee you only said 'destroy' not 'remove' so it's fine :^)"are they living in some schizophrenic alternate dimension or am i? i've never played a commander game where people unironically start making LE DEALS at each other like it's the diplomacy screen in a 4x game, so it always comes off as incredibly artificial, like they're speaking more from a fantasy of how edh games work and don't actually play them with real people

Like his manabarbs is still probably chunking people every turn, it's just going to take another few turns. But simply being slowed down is enough of a disruption for them to get "overstimmed" and chimp out. Had a guy chimp out and rage quit the other day because I hit him with picrel after he vommitted out a bunch of creatures that would win the game if he untapped. And they never learn. I'm not seeing any development of skills in players who've joined in the last 5 years, they just copy-paste stronger and stronger decklists but don't fundamentally understand how to play a multiplayer format.
>>98912425the irony of sheldon being a lvl5 judge while being so wishy washy on what edh 'should be played' will never be lost on mehe failed to put his foot down and enforce rules when he was still in a position to do and that's why we get this left for dead shit
>>98912428Well yeah, but no point whinging over just one game.Curate your group, then the issue is gone.
It's a 100 card singleton format. Yes, you will have vastly different games depending on your luck and how things go. You might blast off turn 3 or you might not get shit done turn 7. That's why the only way to look at things is to estimate how things go on average.
>>98912393Sheldon & co. abused the shit out of Rule 0 to justify never actually creating a proper framework for organising edh games with strangers. >>98912436The current bracket rules are still wishy-washy. I was recently drawn into a discussion where someone told me designing and playing a deck to win is bracket 4 intent. Bracket 3 and below is a casual mindset according to the current bracket system. You can't argue against that; you can only stand up and leave. These people will never play the same game as you.
it's that kind of bracket discussion again, eh?bracket 3:>no infinites/altwincons like thoracle and coalition victory until tun 7>no mld>up to 3 GCsbracket 2:>no infinites/altwincons like thoracle and coalition victory until tun 9>no mld>0 GCsthat's it, it's that simplethere will always be stronger decks than others no matter what system is made but you will find no cleaner and simpler smogon clause than mine, i challenge you to implement this in your playgroup and save yourselves the headache

I thought Commander was meant to be a social game, yet somehow people have problems going "can we talk about how you judged your own deck earlier"?

>>98912600Your clear rules are retarded because you can play around them and have decks of vastly different power levels all in the same bracket. That's why an honest assessment of it is much better than "he he he yes I technically don't go against what is written here"
>>98912604>your clear rules are retarded because some decks will be stronger than others!oh god forbid, whatever shall we do?if you were as smart as you thought you were you would get all 5 foundations commander decks and play with them as they are balanced to fight each other, why even bother with deckbuilding? let wotc do it for you!the old 'edh players are just boardgame players' rings true yet again

"casual" would be slower and have more room for interaction. it doesn't destroy archetypes, but removes some of the biggest combos that cedh uses and makes other less reliable while leaving more room to be disrupted.

>>98912879>each bracket already has predefined card numbers for comboseven talking about card numbers for combos is stupid, because even edhrec thinks dualcaster mage + twinflame is not allowed for b2 because they think it's a 2 card combo when it requires another creature
>>98912865>splinter the playerbaseit won't do that (at least in the way you think it will turn out). the low power decks will change maybe a card or two and continue existing as they had. cedh isn't being touched here. it is also a kitchen table format, so people will still face their decks against each other even if their decks adhere to either banlist. this would just give clearer delineation between power levels of decks than the game changers list/bracket system allows. it would allow for much easier/clearer pregame conversations: "which banlist did you build for?" it keeps out the people who reliably tutor for their combos on T2-T3 with free interaction to protect that combo from the people who just want to play a silly game of magic.also, this anon >>98912892 is right. the playerbase is so huge that "splintering" it wouldn't have the effect that you might think. it wouldn't ruin or destroy formats for lack of players, it would just allow the different parts of the playerbase to have an easier time staying in their lane.
>>98912928>"splintering" it wouldn't have the effect that you might think>but i'm mad that brackets encourage players gaming it so they can *technically* win in a children's card game even though my own silly rules promote that anyway

Magic: The Bracketing
the lesson? rule zero is dictated by your most obnoxious friend
>>98912941no, i don't know your shitty combo deck. show me it. i highly doubt it negates anything i said. the deck is probably slow as fuck and the combo is likely open to interaction. i also acknowledged that there will be some players looking to get in cheap shot/easy wins/play at the highest level allowed within the banlist. it isn't about stopping that, it is just about leveling the playing field because too many people say shit like "i'm just a little guy with a low level bracket 3!" and then it turns out to be B4. even if the belzenlok ends up being good, not every player is going to go out and build it, players will learn its tricks/how to deal with it fairly quick, and there is always room to add it to the banlist months down the line if enough people think it is a problem.
Every single issue is solved by just not playing with people who are assholes
>>98912986>and then it turns out to be B4. even if the belzenlok ends up being good, not every player is going to go out and build it, players will learn its tricks/how to deal with it fairly quick, and there is always room to add it to the banlist months down the line if enough people think it is a problem.that's quite literally how brackets work too but noooo it can't work because it was made by a corporation and not me, anon, the greatest mind out there
