Haven’t seen a proper Nerf General on /toy/ in a long time, so let’s bring it back. This is a thread for discussing modern Nerf and foam blasters: new releases, modding, performance, internals, darts, comparisons, and why Hasbro accidentally cooked again (or didn’t). A lot has changed since the last time these threads existed, and there have been way too many genuinely good blasters in the past few years to ignore.Post your loadouts, favorites, teardown pics, hot takes, thrift finds, and mod questions. Stock or modded, Hasbro or third-party, foam is foam.No airsoftNo gel blastersFoam onlyBe civil, stay on topic, and remember: it’s still toy guns
>>11675438Oh wow.....it's hideous. It's like they just stopped making the blaster halfway through and said a copper pipe is good enough. I mean, I'm sure it's performance is stellar, but style wise....that's pretty yikes. >>11675449Airsoft was never welcomed on /toy/, it's a topic that's been kicked off this board for as long as I can remember. It got pretty bad for a while with how often Airsoft stuff got bounced around. There was even memes of people trying to find which board to start Airsoft threads on but the mods would just move em to a different board.
>>11673781It's not in a particularly great state to be honest. Hasbro has all but driven the Nerf brand to the ground, constantly introducing new proprietary ammo dart types in an effort to prevent cross compatibility because somehow in their heads that means more sales. Not to mention the constant reskins, almost 70% of the N-Series blasters are Ward reskins. And then you have the other brands, they're great for being aimed towards hobbyist and likes to standardize ammo dart type as well as accessory mounting points and having excellent performance. But not much about them are appealing for kids who are the ones that primarily play with dart blasters. The ceiling is too high for most kids unless they know what they're doing and who are only in the minority compared to the rest. Dart blasters just don't have the same appeal they use to anymore.
>>11675449I think a big factor is 3d printed guns and even off-the-shelf ones that reach their levels of performance overtook the discussion so hard that it really started to feel like the threads were just airsoft-lite more than anything else. combine that with the flagbearer Hasbro doing Hasbro shit and killing their brand and youtubers dropping off like flies, there really isn't much to discuss. "member hammershot?" can only carry a thread so far.
>>11675533>>11675739Yea, the super "high performance" Pro model stuff or constant comparison to home made 3d printed blasters more or less nuked any possible discussion of foam blasters. They're really not as fun anymore and none of these new ones have any cool but useless gimmicks or themes. When you aim for performance you'll eventually start to hit plateaus and everything will just start to become homogenized and boring. There's a reason why so many Nerf Blasters are just "Stryfe but with extra junk", because it was such a solid platform to build around but none of those additions actually made the blasters better. It's also what killed the Rival line, once you get into the realm of 200 round full auto blasters that are easy to load and work off re-chargeable batteries, where can you even go from there? Everything just starts to retread old ground and come up short in comparison where performance is concerned. I was hoping Nerf finally bending and accepting the Half Dart in their little Franken-stryfe release would help spur them into a second renaissance or sorts where they'd go crazy making weird, wacky, sometimes impressive half dart blasters. Lean into the new ammo type to make Blasters they couldn't make before. Instead they just stopped trying entirely.
>>11676148I'd be a lot more down to clown with nerf's hard-on for periphery ammo if they were still doing interesting stuff with it like mega/early rival but ever since Ultra it's just been one dud after another.
>nephew loves lego, specifically lego star wars>Promised I would buy him a few lego sets for his birthday on friday>fastforward to tonight>checking out what they have in stock at walmart and target>almost $200 for one droid mtt>$150 for the attack of the clones at-walkerWhat the hell.
>>11674610This>wow guise $200 is sooo crazy>okay guise so we spent like $1000
>>11674610>>11675398>everyone is rich and irresponsible with their moneyYeah no.
>>11673464There's plenty of decent Lego Star Wars sets for under $50 so I'm not sure what you're complaining about exactly
>>11674602>Complain about price of Lego>Drop $1000 on that for a kid's birthdayI'm with you on not cheaping out on stuff that could make a kid happy but come the fuck on the 3 in 1 castle for example is a fantastic decent size Lego set for just like $120, get two of those and you have a good amount of Lego for the kid to play with. Fuck I don't spend $1000 on myself for Lego, it's nice that kid gets nice presents but don't blow your wad in one go.Stuff like Lego is better and more thrilling when you can slowly collect sets over time as opposed to "omg I have a hueg collection now"
>>11674602holy shit, i hope the kid is responsible
Also called Digital Pets and VPets or V-Pets? I guess also V Pets. Yeah.Question of the Thread: Did anyone buy picrel?
>>11676145i think it has free updates at those tama labs but they aren’t in many places
>>11676197Thats good because the Uni DLC prices are absolutely ridiculous
>>11676199yeah it can’t really do real dlc i dont think because it can’t connect to the internet
>>11672971They literally just released two new Pendulums, anon
>>11676339they probably mean locally, not imports.
So I guess sparkster wasnt so exclusive to the Konami shop. DNA toys has the figure up on their web page. Konami sold out of these. I wonder if DNA will honornUS orders.https://premiumdnatoys.com/collections/catalog
>>11674938It's already that far in? Might skip then, looks like a weird rough draft.
I didn't even know all their Jim toys came out.
>>11674934Of course it did, it's made by 90's Konami.
>>11674942They haven't officially, apart from the one exclusive that was released before all of their stock ended up on AliExpress. They are all listed as coming soon on their website. Also every other toy they had up for preorder before their year of silence has completely vanished from the website. No Madballs wave 2 apart from an old product announcement page they have probably forgotten here:https://premiumdnatoys.com/pages/madballs-wave-2Madballs vs GPK, Mars Attacks, and Care Bears pages all exist with "this Collection is empty."https://premiumdnatoys.com/collections/madballs-vs-garbage-pail-kids-wave-1They are still listed at other retailers. I wonder if those will still happen or if they will need to cancel them and refund customers (yeah right) because the license expired while they were in toy company purgatory.
>>11674934Valuable contribution.Anybody play that Xbox 360 game?
>We’ve created a brick that plays back.>It's our biggest innovation since... erm... ever! The LEGO® SMART Play™ System is here. Get ready for SMART Bricks, SMART Tags and SMART Minifigures to add a whole new dimension to LEGO play. (YES WE’RE EXCITED.)So I guess this is the future of plastic brick toys now. Companies are making everything "smart". At least Lumibricks still has their light gimmickWhat do we think of this? Pre-orders open tomorrow by the way.

>we're incorporating AI into lego
that sounds like the natural evolution to things at least ever since lego mario came into existence
How many unused action figure hands do you guys have? Do you change them often?
>>11673458>there's a whole world you don't seem to be aware ofI agree. And I own my ignorance but it's more than just a lack of knowledge. I'm not going to collect every possible thing that might potentially interest me or appeal to me. I want swords and space blasters for the toys I ALREADY OWN. I'm actually going to start selling off some of my statues and other collectibles and just focus purely on articulating figures. I'm not interested in going down rabbit holes and investing into entirely new lines and franchises and the like. This is a good way for me to be prudent since I'd still rather buy expensive red wine and Japanese whiskey instead of a $200 import bit of plastic crack. Dinner out in a metro area isn't cheap, either.I appreciate you're being interesting and challenging. And politely engaging in conversation. But you aren't going to lure me to the dark side. It's great when people don't just have four walls of crowded shelves all with fifty billion batman or fifty billion spidermen or fifty billion son gokus or waifu/coomer figurines, but actually have a variety. But that's also not going to be me - either of those visions.I knew when I got older that my behavior as a kid, where I used to save old magazines and collect shitty Duck and other cheap comic books, with boxes and stacks of paper in my childhood bedroom, that I had addictive behaviors. I've gone through spending small mints hording import records while in school, graphic novels and omnibus editions as an teen and also in school to adulthood, steel books and complete season DVDs and BluRay as an older adult, etc. and once I sold all that stuff off, I've never looked back (well, I have an excellent set of digital pirated comics, movies and music but my out of pocket costs is limited to a few external drives). Plastic crack is just my current crack. And I have a system that works well for me. And I don't really need to go outside it.
>>11673571>I'm not going to collect every possible thing that might potentially interest me or appeal to me.man, but sometimes you NEED that specific accessorry that comes from some random McStatue. This is where the majority of my oldass Mcstatue purchases come from.I dunno if you're seen my Game of Throne McFarlane legos sets that i bought, but the minifigures those building block sets came with sorely needed a dragon to head their army, and this dragon rider is roughly their height.I've also bought that Matrix stair set diorama by McFarlane, along with their military figures just for their guns. I've bought oldass Spawn movie playsets, because they're ~1:18 scale. I've bought McFarlane Conan figures for swords, thrones, and shields. Why wait for some company to make an accessory pack when there's thousand of toys that already exist that that come with beautifully painted accessories?Shit, that Medieval Spawn? 50% of the reason i bought him is just because he comes with a shit load of beautifully painted weapons. So for me, I'm not investing in a "new line", but rather, it's FOR the my collection that I've been buying since decades ago. I'm constantly looking for cool shit i can use to interact with my collection. I almost never buy something just because it looks cool, UNLESS it can go with my current collectionBTW, I'm polite to everyone as long as they're honest and genuine. Posters like the above poorfag obviosuly just come into threads just to cause problems.
>>11674523>I'm polite to everyone Lol. Lmao even. I still legit can't tell if you said >>11673554 with actual sincerity or if you were just joking. I honestly think it's the former lmao. I feel bad for you if that's the case.
>>11674585
Way too much. This is the drawer for the HG kits. For Figure Rise, Megami Device, and other human kits, I use individual boxes for accessories (hands, other faces, etc.).For pre-made figures (shf, figma...), I use bags with the name written on them.
I dont want to ruin a general, so ill post it outside. I've fucking had it with Lego. It's never the prices that bother me, it's the fact that their builds comparably suck to what Mega Construx has done better. For the latter, we get better, more posable minifigs, distinctive bricks and parts, and much cleaner builds that do as much to avoid relying on part reuse. Lego's minifigs are the same 5poa shits and still use parts that are are only versatile because they HAVE to be, resulting in a blocky inaccurate mess that pays little tribute to its source.
>>116747095poa isnt appealing. A minifig's only purpose is being a pilot or just as a display piece, while Mega Bloks gives a toy you can actually play with and even fill the same roles anyway
>>11674567Stop crying about people crying about children's toys.
>>11674731>Nah, instead you are going to ruin the boardAnd I thought OP was being dramatic, sheesh!
>>11674527Soul - LEGOSoulless - MEGANICETRY
I have that Megablocks Krang. He's great. The little turtle figures are also very fun and poseable for their size. I also bought their tecnnodrome and totally failed in building it because I'm apparently an idiot.
Why do toy companies have this fascination with making toys that have lights and sounds and then pretending it’s some kind of revolutionary technology? Hasbro did it with CommTech and Force Link for Star Wars, and LEGO did it with the whole “Smart Play” thing. Why?
>>11668623The Disney stuff really is fucking terrible in every possible way.
>>11668745Yes
>>11668494sounds about right, why do something interesting when you can just rehash old shit>>11668509i'm tired of issac and boyega's attitudes, their job, which they are paid very handsomely for, is to play a role and promote the product, i love daisy for standing by her character through thin and thin
>>11670753>"i hate that the actors were ashamed of being apart of the nanking style rape of star wars and i respect the dumb fetal alcohol syndrome pin head who stood up for her character that was artificially pushed by the feminist swine studio head"Shut the fuck up you absolute faglord
>>11668584Why did rian think killing snoke would possibly be a good idea? Kylo could never replace him as a villain as kylo ren stopped being cool the moment he smashed apart his awesome helmet and became some faggy love interest for rey that was straight out of a YA novel from like 2010
Previous thread: >>11642894All brands and scales welcome. Share acquisitions, discoveries, and projects.
>>11675204That's the most recent one, though. Every one that's come out since '22 has been the sunken windshield/molded boards variant. I guess they did it because the original windshield and especially the separate board pieces were really easy to pop off and lose. Hell, there are some that don't even come with boards at all and you just get the flat bed, but at least they usually put a tampo on it so it isn't so bare-looking.
>Randomly look over the hot wheels section at Walmart because I was bored.>Acceleracers sublime>They released the Teku Slingshot I've waited almost 20 years for this, I'm so happy to finally get this, if only Revert was there as well.
>>11675187>>11675204>>11675260Thx. I know many opening hood casts are gone but I didn't know they also altered windshields. Sucks.
>>11675466Congrats, anon. Always feels great when a holy grail turns up like that.
I'm looking for toys based on real historical figures. What are your favorites?
>>11663452Nothing ever good came from Germany.
>>11664202beer
I would love a figure of Grigori Rasputin but there's really nothing out there .It's either Hellboy or a burger king toy of the character from the cartoon Anastasia movie
French Papo
>>11674163Was invented by the Sumerians. And Belgian beer is better than German one.
If you got one can someone put this guy next to a regular Marvel Legends / Mcfarlane toys / Mattel figure?I wanna check the size for a custom
Anyone backing this? The guy making it died just after Christmas, it was his dream to finally get the Mighty Orbots figure out there since the original was cancelled. It's already at nearly $86 thousand of $95 thousand needed. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/themightyorbots/mighty-orbots-deluxe-combining-12-figure-1985-edition
I just want lewd toys of the arm girls.
>>11673119Final numbers: 212 Orbots tier sets, 97 Tobor tier. Possible extra add-on sets not factored in.
Never backed a Kickstarter before, but I went all-in (Mighty Orbots, Tobor and both versions of carded Ohno). Just such a bittersweet passion project; I couldn't not support the dream of a man so dedicated to these toys being realised.
>>11675060Yeah, this is one of those truly good things to happen in the community. I'm happy it played out in the positive. And hey, people get a pretty cool set of toys.
>>11675060>>11675073The sheer honest joy in his face in the pictures of him just holding the prototype in his hands.
alright anons, post your desk buddies - those toys you keep at your desk to fiddle with while you are work, playing or whatever that you do at your pc
Please don't mind the cat hair, I have three cats and one of them sleeps on my desk.
>>11663322those are nice kamen riders
>>11662792get a cheap one you won't mind getting sun-daaged, or encase him in a box.
>>11663045where is this one from?
currently got these as my desk buddies
This will probably die like the last one but...>JOYTOY announced the Fatal Fury Team from KOF '98
>>11672975I have five Fondjoy figures (4 different Batflecks and Cavill) and all of them have really good articulation and zero issues, so I have no idea what you are talking about.Plus, Orochi is an early prototype

>>11671623Oh yeah joints are definitely going to fix the inherent issue of shitty plastic skirts you smelly brown ape. Not like we haven't seen the same problems across line after line. Surely this time will be different!
This guy is my favorite SC, I still can't believe they made him
>>11672149Its such a shame they half assed the paint. It could have been great if they put some effort. https://youtube.com/watch?v=7NGBeY2s28I&pp=ygUYZ2FtZSBkaW1lbnNpb25zIGhlaWhhY2hp
demon slayerjust started watching the show and it's pretty coolwhat's the verdict on figures though? figma, buzzmod, or SHF?
>>11674655No idea. I remember seeing it on Mandarake shortly after release for 20k yen and thought huh? There was was after on Jungle for 8,800 and I almost got it just because it was still retail, but I already have the buzzmod so don't need it.The same thing recently happened with Katana man from Chainsawman. Not sure why but the villains have become a lot more popular recently.
>>11674641>The figmas are the worst. Smaller scaleKind of wished I had waited for the figma Inosuke because of the scale. He does have that unsightly ML torso hinge, though, and his snorting effect is locked in a bullshit DX release.
>>11674694>figma InosukeThe buzzmod is a lot better though and better scalled with SHF. Ultimately though I think the SHF will be the best when it comes.
>>11674759Yeah, I'm fine with my BM Inosuke as a figure, I just wanted one that would pair well with some of my figma sword-swingers.
>>11674774Fair enough. I don't mix character from different IPs. Sets off my tism. Everything has it's own display.
