>>10949516Hound had breakage problems in his feet.
>>10949516I don't remember that at all. Hound is on a level practically comparable to GPS.
>>10949524Leo Convoy had some issue with the torso plastic. I've seen a few copies where the bits holding the abdomen to the rest of the toy snapped off. Arcee and Nightbird have the inner hip joint break, again several pics have cropped up. At least on Starscream, I remember people saying several pinned areas were developing cracks after a few transformations.
>>10949522No, Hound was everything. Pinned areas cracking, plastic just splitting, and figures just breaking apart while being left alone on a shelf.
>Magmatron's sword and wings are soft, flexible plastic.Of course.

>>10949836Nope. There is molded detail that is consistent wire wire more than anything else. Closest examples to full hair would be Ariel and Arcee being modelled on ponytail and Leia's, but the execution removes the hair texture. A good number have ones that invoke facial hair. It is most common in the live action movies ones have thin wires that invoke hair.

I found a grey Transmetal 2 Tarantulas (or "Steel Force") at a 2nd & Charles for 80 bucks. No instructions or packaging, but all the accessories intact and in excellent condition.I do good?
>>10949957I mean, objectively, he is not worth 80 bucksbut that is below his market value due to rarity, so you did good.
>>10949957Tarantulas never got a TM2; that's the Fox Kids repaint of his normal TM form. Like the other anon said, he technically isn't worth that much as a BW Deluxe, but given the jump in demand from his comic appearances causing the price to inflated to insane amounts, that's probably the cheapest you'll ever pay for him with all his parts intact; if he still had his box, you'd likely be paying double.
>>10949961>>10949977Yeah, I'm not sure why I put that 2 in there...I'm happy though. I loved his design on the show, and he's such a lovable evil bastard in general.I also got Origins Wheeljack. As expected, Origins Jazz won't fit, which sucks. Theres still something charming about how boxy and solid he is though.
>>10949875While that's a good mold (SS Crosshair was awesome), I just can't see it as an Optimus Prime, especially since the transformation is unaltered and he still has a 'trenchcoat' that's very out of character for him.
>>10949980I like the commitment to the bit, even if it gives him more baggage than a PotP fembot. But I love Floro Dery style scifi vehicles and getting another one is just fun.
>>10949980Why were you expecting origins Jazz to fit? It only accommodates bee folded up and maybe a small core class of some sort.
>>10949995Eh, making all three Origins toys cross compatible, I suppose. I still like him though.
>>10949980you could easily call him "Transmetal Tarantulas 2" as the second version of TM Tarantulas. Maybe that's where your brain was going. But he'll always be Coolranchulas to me.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not entirely the biggest fan of the Bumblebee design for Optimus and certainly not of the design they gave him in ROTB (along with all the other re-designs in that movie). The former still completely BTFOs the latter like all the other models they have but still. Something just feels off even though it's probably the best G1 adaptation to live action. Maybe it's actually better than I remember.

>>10949832Well I already pointed out the specific things I disliked about him, again; if they gave him properly-sized feet, dialed the headsculpt's back to something more toned down like the original show/toys, and didn't make his car's hinges and ports so visible and noticable, then he'd be way better. The classic deluxe has wonky af clown shoes, but proportionally I was expecting something more akin to Hydrodive Bee.If they wanted to reinterpret the aesthetic instead, I think they should've leaned further into G1 like Legacy Prowl, who granted I also think is inferior due to the ugly mess visible in bike form, but I at least can accept the attempt done for the botmode. Also I dislike Legacy TFA Prime because he completely lacks an abdomen, it gets swallowed up inside the chest and just makes him so weird to look at. His shitty old Deluxe had a similar issue, but even then managed to look somehow better, a bit.
>>10950129>Also I dislike Legacy TFA Prime because he completely lacks an abdomen,Welcome to the Derrick J. Wyatt School of Design.
>>10950090Ok but if they had different names what would you think?
>>10950132But animated optimus had an abdomen?
>>10950140Barely. He always drew everyone with stick thin waists. And they all look like they're doing pelvic thrusts.
>>10949825abysmally low, its would be too big for retail shelves and as an exclusive it would have to be about $325. grimlock is getting reissued so likely slag will soon after
>>10950141not the anon you're responding to, but what is this then ?
>>10950143A very thin abdomen.
>>10950144Which means it exists.
>>10950145Right. But DWJ drew them very thin is my point.
>>10950144We're not talking about waists being thin though, a thin waist is still *a waist*. We're talking about the waist on the toy literally being swallowed up vertically, meaning the chest immediately transitions into the pelvis. Pictel isn't posing or an ab crunch, that's literally just how his proportions are.Funnily enough the old Deluxe is mainly what this new guy takes transformation cues from, which also suffered a similar issue, so I'm just left thinking what "were they expecting?" Lol.
>>10950146Your point isn't the point that the adults are discussing.
>>10950146yes, but I think you misunderstood, The problem with Legacy Animated Prime is the fact that the figure goes from chest (which is fuckhuge, and that doesn't help at all) to waist and it looks really bad.
>>10950152Ahh, I see what you mean now.>>10950149Yes, that is bizarre.
Elite Guard 3-pack when?
>>10950157Really miss random repaints like this, Atomic Lugnut, or the many Bay toyline ones like Nightwatch Optimus and Deep Desert Brawl. It was way cooler than receiving a repaint that lazily attempted to be some other character but just barely, like we have now. Wish designers would go back to this sorta thing.
>>10950159Its almost always ONLY homages or other characters. It can be extremely specific or a deep cut but its 99% nothing random and new anymore. I kind of hate it.
>>10950141That's just western art. if you draw people standing normally, you get accused of being 'stiff' and not 'dynamic' enoughthen they show you images of rubbery old looney tunes shit as if that has anything to do with drawing realistic shit
>>10950156the initial art that came out really did look funhouseythankfully the show was a lot better. and the toys did an amazing job.
>>10950168In fairness, not even the strawman you created was talking about wanting realism, sooo-Also you say this as if anime fans don't say the same things, but just replace "rubbery old Looney Tunes shit" with "FLCL" lmao.
Animated designs are kinoThe only way you can hate them is if you are fat.

>>10950173i have no idea what nu-anime fans like but yeah probably that
>>10950141The best example of TFwiki's undercurrent of racism against Japan was how Fort Max's pages for the longest time would mock how he had this pelvic thrust pose in his stock footage, and then the instant Derrick J Wyatt made an entire show where everyone stood like that all the time, he got his dick sucked off and could do no wrong.
>>10950188i think you're just autistically looking for things to get mad about. Calm down. Take your meds.
>>10950188Laughing at pelvic thrusts is racist? When the fuck did a bunch if hypersensitive faggots invade here like /co/mblr
>>10950188Fortress Maximus has a backwards knee.
>>10950188>Derrick J Wyatt made an entire show where everyone stood like that all the time, he got his dick sucked off and could do no wrong.I don't think that's how Optimus and the others actually posed like in the show, it's a more model sheet for the animators to reference. Same thing with the DCAU model sheets people meme on, they don't stand like that unless it's a crowd scene where they're using the stock model sheets for budget.
>>10950188You sound absolutely schizoid. That pose makes Maximus look like a faggot.
>>10950201Maybe that anon is confused because Wyatt was a huge Transformers animes fan... despite I think him saying he never watched them?

The Neutro-Fusion Tank should be the next titan class figure.
>>10950217Would they really sell one without a robot mode?
>>10950217With the colors I've been feeling they could go two for one and have it be Banzaitron's alt mode as another Tarn recolor/retool.
>>10950221The Ark and Nemesis say they'd prefer to give it a robot mode.
>>10950217i want tako tank!
>>10950226That would not need to be that big if you have a Core class squid.
>>10950226You get the Jointrons and the Taco Tank
They had CG models for characters in Japan even though it was a drawn cartoon?
>>10950238For the box art, I believe.
>>10950238Yes, they did CGI card art for everything from the second year or so of BW through car Robots. I guess because the American show was CGI they wanted to align the visuals to it. They didn't even use the Mainframe CGI models for the package art for the figures that had them, they had a Japanese design studio do them from scratch
Got these three in today. Chromia isn't horrible - yes, she looks a bit masculine (and I'm aware the original use of the mold was for Prowl), but at least she has something that passes as an actual chest (unlike everyone who ended up on the Legacy Arcee and Minerva molds). She's got some good articulation (just missing wrist rotation, sadly). The only two gripes I have about her robot mode are her hands (her right hand is sculpted to be open wider than the other so she can hold weapons with 5mm handles, but makes it very difficult for her to hold the weapons she actually comes with), while the other is with the weapons themselves; they're her hubcaps, and unfurl using a gear mechanism when you rotate the top. Mine keep popping out of alignment, which is almost certainly going to lead to the gears getting stripped as time goes on.Core BM Cheetor is...disappointing. I heard people describe him as looking like a Happy Meal toy, and sadly I have to agree. It's baffling when comparing him to Vertebreak or the more recent Energeon Megatron - what happened? The kibble on his arms is annoying and does nothing to hide his robot hands in Beast Mode, and his feet (which are totally inaccurate to the source material) have no ankles, which renders all the joints in his legs useless because you can only get him to stand in one pose. He also has pegs on the insides of his upper arms that obstruct arm rotation, and since his head can't tilt back, you can't really pose him in the 'gliding mode' he did on the show.BB Shockwave, however, is awesome! He's got a ton of articulation (including rotating wrists) and looks great in pretty much any pose. He actually has two normal hands, but you can fold one inside to attach his cannon and recreate his signature look; the cannon itself can be mounted on either hand, or held like a normal gun via a 5mm peg.His head has light piping, but it doesn't work nearly as well as his Siege mold's (seriously, that thing was some black magic).
>>10950246Alt modes. I like that Chromia actually looks like a motorcycle (with a seat!) compared to Legacy Arcee; I also really like that the little sculpted dials on the back of Chromia's head become her dashboard; she also jas a little kickstand that flips down, but it doesn't really help keep her upright. Her transformation has her entire chest and 'wings' flip up from under her arms while they go back and her hips turn sideways, with her legs bunching up underneath.Cheetor's Beast mode is worse than his robot one. As mentioned above, the beast paws do nothing to hide the robot hands and were unneccessary anyway, as none of his original toys changed the hands; they should have been similar to Tasmanian Kid's instead, with holes in the palms for his swords. His torso gets a little longer in Beast Mode, but not enough - compared to my CatSCAN, Cheetor looks more like a frog than a cat with the way his back legs are all bunched up; having no ankles really hurts him here, too, since there's no way to really straighten his legs. The biggest issue here is that his arms peg into his chest, preventing you from even moving them, meaning he's essentially a brick.Shockwave's alt is the most fun of the group. He turns into an H-Tank, but he's actually got some interesting stuff going on with his chest - the front comes down over his crotch as his legs splay out and become the front treads, his belly then flips underneath to hold his hips in place, then the back half of his upper torso bends forward while his head folds down and arms lock into place to form the rear treads; the cannon slots into a peg hole that was concealed inside the chest; while not shown in the instructions (but shown on the box), the cannon's barrel is actually supposed to extend a bit, giving him a more menacing looking turret that can tilt up, down, and turn all the way around. It feels more like an actual transformation than his Siege mold sans the armor and actually LOOKS like something.
>>10950246Does Shockwave have bicep articculation?
>>10950247While I don't have too many issues with Chromia other than her hands and blades, I can understand why some may be upset over her looking too manly, though in this case I blame that more on the choice of the mold rather than the 'artistic vision' behind her. At least she makes for a fun motorcycle, and the pink, teal and blue look nice.Really can't say much good about Cheetor, whcih is a shame - I'm one of the few people who actually LIKED his Beast Machines design, and this version just fails to do it justice in both forms. The lack of ankles really hurts his posability factor, and it's weird that the one character who needed it the most ended up not having them at all (also, why does he have boxy robotic feet instead of proper cheetah paws like all of his previous toys? There shouldn't be ANYTHING blatantly robotoic on a Beast Machines era Maximal). The pegs on his arms hinder his articulation in both modes, too, and I have no idea why they exist; given the very simple nature of Cheetor's transformation, I have no idea how they bungled him this badly. Did someone at Hasbro forget that animals actually MOVE their limbs? So of the three, Shockwave is the clear winner. He's the one I keep picking up and transforming, and he just LOOKS cool from pretty much every angle; I also like that he's a bit beefier than his Siege version, and along with that big gun, makes him look like he's ready to start kicking fenders and taking names. If you had to get just one of these guys, Shockwave is the one I'd recommend.
>>10950248Yes - or rather, his forearms can rotate; the upper parts don't move because they need to lock in place for his transformation, though he can T-pose just fine.
>>10950243Huh.
This year's Hallmark ornament revealed.
>>10950233that only sweetens the deal
>>10950246technically he has ankle joints, he doesn't have toe joints which is what you meant.. and yeah, that would restrict posing pretty hard.>>10950252that chest has seen some shit.

They should rerelease Dreadwing/Smokescreen in a vintage line.
>>10950274Frankly I'm surprised they haven't retooled Skyquake and Needlenose into that yet.
>>10950090In fairness, all of these guys picked up their names AFTER gaining beast forms. They're still vehicles back on Cybertron, so they just decided to update their names, which is a thing.
>>10950264Hasbro pricing + their budget cutting measures are a fucking joke.
>>10950280Fan fiction.
>>10950285okay anon, tell me what's canon then
>>10950280Well, everyone except Primal and Megatron, anyway. I vaguely recall it being said somewhere that Primal's original name was Blackjack, but it was definitely already changed by the time the first episode starts, since I'm pretty sure Rhinox says his name while they're still on the Axalon about to engage the Darksyde; Megatron changed his name the moment he decided to join the Predacon cause, hoping to rise to power and become like his idol (despite the fact that he was only ever a grunt under Cryotek until he backstabbed him and swiped the Golden Disk for himself).
>>10950286>>10950288Like everything else in Transformers, it varies based on continuity.
>>10950291n-no, anon.. I'm asking you to tell me what, if not the thing I said, is canon. What canon contradicts it. How is not fanfiction for you to contradict it (for example, if you claim they had beast forms on cybertron)
>>10950288I didn't mean everyone-everyone. It's 100% possible guys like Dinobot, Scorponok, and Insecticon were named after the historical guys, and then chose their beast forms to suit themBut obviously Cheetor going "Yeah I'm Cheetor" means his previous name was probably Rotor or something.>Blackjacksay what? I assumed his name was Optimus Prime (with an unspoken "But not THAT Optimus Prime") and he modified it to Primal. Though I guess 'primal' has other meanings, some just scientific.
>>10950294In some universes they have animal names on Cybertron. Like the IDW 2021 Beast Wars comic, Beast Wars Uprising, I think one other convention comic...
>>10950298
>>10950294K-9 was named Hound in the past.
>>10950303This is a series where there is a character named Bumblebee. Don't worry about it.
>>10950298Cheetor and Rhinox were clearly announcing to everyone that they had new names, at the very least. That implies some of the others did as well. I forget whether Rattrap did that too.And it would be one hell of a coincidence if Tigatron was already called Tigatron (since his name is the only thing about his former life he was able to retain, possibly info from the pod). Ditto BlackarachniaInferno and Airazor, Silverbolt and Quickstrike, those guys could easily have kept their prior names though. One wonders why anyone bothered to name Rampage. I bet he chose it himself.>>10950304That makes a lot of sense. Also explains his beast mode being a modern animal. he probably looked up what his name meant once, found out it derives from an earth animal, studied them, and fell in love with dogs. To the point he could tell the computer how to make him one.
>>10950307>One wonders why anyone bothered to name Rampage. I bet he chose it himself.Megatron gave it to him after fucking with his Spark.
>>10950306that's a pretty sensible name for a little yellow round guy. First a chubby round spaceship, then a chubby round car... hell the 'bee' part fits the prior form better.
>>10950309Ohhh right. Man I should watch the whole damn show again, it is good stuff.
>>10950310If you can be named after bee 4 million years before your species encounters anything from Earth, then a yellow fast guy can get a name derived from a cheetah even if he turns into a car.
>>10950311>Welcome to the Predacons, RAMPAGE. You shall be an honored member...so long as you never forget one important fact about your new life: It's mine. Welcome, my new servant, yessssss. Welcome...to the Beast Wars!
>>10950304>>10950307Although... That begs the question of how G1 Hound got his name. Either he's named after a similar alien animal, which "translates" to Hound when talking to humans, or his real name is the Cybertronian word for, like, hunting and tracking, and "Hound" was the closest translation. It's best not to look this deeply into this kinda stuff, on shows this old. But I mean, Jazz wasn't Jazz before waking up on Earth, right?
>>10950312That's a good point. Must be some space bees.Actually, did anything in G1 continuity ever suggest Cybertronians had visited Earth previously? The Bay movies ran that concept into the ground, it was downright humorous just how many times Transfomers 'first' went to Earth.
>>10950314Yes. Funny thing though, Budiansky wanted his name to be Jazzz. Which...kinda makes it better?
>>10950274I don't want a half ass remake of this or the G1 Powermasters. The POTP one sucked.
>>10950313You reckon Megatron deliberately named him after the old predacon then, since he named himself Megatron? It's funny reexamining the show as basically a dime-store dictator trying to pattern himself and his life on great warriors from the past. He's such a fanboy he even gets to go visit his heroes and touch them while they're unconscious.
>Amazon AU didn't fulfill my Gears and Shard preorder when they said they were going to >says they're both out of stock I'm fucked aren't I?
>>10950316Skyfire's episode. Masterforce has ANCIENT ALIENS, but that doesn't count since a later show.
>>10950321Thats very likely, yes. Especially since in most universe the OG Predacons founded the Beast Wars faction to begin with.
>>10950318oh, so like it's a coincidence. That actually tracks, I could totally see him finding out his name refers to music on earth, looking up earth music, and then starting to talk funny talk on purpose. I would have loved if he had a line where he was like "I love speaking English, it's a lot easier to rhyme than Cybertronian" ... but y'know, as a goofy rhyme.
This was one of the few CW molds I really have a soft spot for. Like him and Rook.
>>10950325it does stand to reason. They would either be the direct or indirect progenitors.Weirdly it makes me think of Zoids again. They had some shake-ups in their factions, with a small group taking over a larger one and changing the name.
>>10950328The Aerialbots were mostly good and Darkwing is a good retool.
>>10950314>Jazz wasn't Jazz before waking up on Earth, right? In IDW, he was named after a type of cybertronian music. Jazz was the closest Earth analog.
>>10950332Now that makes sense.I understand why most shows don't bother with worrying about translating stuff and explaining it, because it's such a pain in the ass and it drags the story to a halt, but as a nerd i can't help asking the questions.
What were Shouki, Getsuei, Yukikaze, Seizan, Kaen, and Suiken named before they came to Earth?
>>10950320best toy ever
>>10950336The trainbots were built on Earth.
>>10950336They are from Earth.
>>10950336Nothing, they were built in Japan by a joint human/bot science team.
Laser Optimus sucked ass I should have known he was on sale for a reason
>>10950336surely those words all have really clear meanings. Japanese isn't one of those languages with complex and confusing etymologies and words with lost roots.
>>10950336Larry, Curly, Moe, Abbott, Costello, and Mr. Chicken.
>get Tarantulas>like the character, Airazor and Tigatron can bully him now and Tigerhawk could too if I get him, and he can bully Blackarachnia or Rattrap>he's a fine figure and update, even with some missing colours>just have very little enthusiasm to play with him, maybe transform him now and then and look proudly at the fact that I finally own a Tarantulas (opted for Cheetor and Dinobot from the 20th anniversary rather than Tarantulas with a cool grappling hook)>but that's about it, transforming him and Blackarachnia in matching modes and standing them upHelp me have enthusiasm for this figure and character, silly photos or your own fun experiences with him is fineHe's still $26 on amazon.ca btw
>>10950363I only paid 11 USAn dollars to get him off Amazon. Is the different in dollars really that much.
>>10950363Try watching the cartoon again, enjoy how sneaky and nasty he is.
>>1095036520 USD is 27.55 CADAnd my province has 13% taxSo that's 22.6 USD or 31.13 CADUnless I spot a voyager for deluxe prices (36 CAD/26.13 USD) or a deluxe in the ~$25 range, or a core class on sale, I'm not doing itI'll maybe save up to get a commander if it's fun or beloved like Rodimus or Sky Lynx, but I haven't touched a leader class since clearanced TR Overlord, or when Earthrise Astrotrain was going for voyager prices>>10950369>watched most of it as a kid but technically never finished it>have to start from season 1 again where he just feels like a scheming pervert>or can skip to season 2 when he's a scheming scientist and spy but as a transmetalMaybe a few episodes later this month
>>10950314There's Turofoxes(which is another can of worms) so having hounds of some sort isn't too far fetched(anymore than turbofoxes would be)
>>10950337it really is. I almost forgot this halfassed remold exists.
>>10950363Honestly I took him on my desk and played with him way more than most of my recent transformers. he's just so simple and pleasantthe only thing I don't love is that the ball joints on the legs can only be reversed so far, so he can't quite sweep the legs back the way he did in neutral poses on the show.
>>10950380>he's just so simple and pleasantJust like the anons here>the ball joints on the legs can only be reversed so farWait what sort of motions do you mean, and doesn't the generally-pleasant fat back get in the wayI do like how you can rearrange his spider legs so he can sit down on thin air and be supported by them, like an evil throne or mad scientist's walking chair.
>>10950094holy fuuuuuuuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
kinda want a selects Ramjet. is the discoloring just a matter of time or was it just certain batches? seeing some that look fine but if they are gonna discolor eventually i'll skip it.
>>10950385holy shit, throne mode? I haven't tried thatwhat i mean is, in the original toy, the spider head folds down while the arms swing out, so the tarantula legs are facing backwards in a neutral, arms-down pose. Which is also how we saw him in the show. whereas the new toy rotates his torso (so they can fold his spider head away entirely, and use a fake one for his crotch) and that leaves the spider legs facing forward. They could have made that part swivel I suppose, but as it is, it was hard getting proper realistic tarantula legs to fit on those arms (the base of the legs is just hanging off, as i'm sure you noticed. makes em look like when you get snow crab legs at a buffet). the show cheated their size quite a bit, and the toy started with thinner legs in the first place.
>>10950405>and use a fake one for his crotchkinda had to, for show accuracyBonus: his mid-transformation model, which melds the two spider heads to help the visual transition
>>10950413The show one was based on the original toy. If they didn't replace the head with a new one, could have kept it.
>>10950385>Wait what sort of motions do you mean, and doesn't the generally-pleasant fat back get in the wayHe's talking about the spider legs. Tarantulas usually kept them splayed pretty far back when he wasn't using them to shoot at people (Mainframe most likely kept them like that to minimize clipping while animating him), but on the toy you can only angle them back so far.
>>10950415literally what the fuck are you trying to say here
>>10950413The transformation cheats on this show always amaze me.>>10950415well, the new robot mode crotch looks more like the original toy's head, so I think the idea was "let's make the beast mode a little more realistic, since that's obviously the mode that gets the shaft during the Kenner design process, and it needs a little help and the kids should believe these are real animals, but let's keep the robot modes looking more like the toys since those modes look pretty good, and that is the character you're buying"
>>10950405It's just his back few legs supporting his bodyAnd I sort of get what you mean, I really appreciate the innovations and good things for Beast Wars in Kingdom and Legacy, but the little ways they fall slightly short of some things is disappointing>>10950418Right, and the original toy looks like it could let you do that, but the detailing in the modern one makes you want to keep them somewhat facing forward. Even for BA the detailing was neutral so you could have them turned awayIt's not incredibly bothersome since I just have legs facing down like a cape, I like to pretend it lets him type on more keyboards. What really (slightly) bugs me is the chainsaw I don't know what to do with, and the no-strings grappling hook not plugging in snugly on his beast mode
>>10950419Anon is saying that the new toy is based on the old show model, but the old show model was based on the original toy, so it's kind of playing telephone-game with it, and they could have avoided that if they wanted to.
>>10950422>and they could have avoided that if they wanted to.but... they didn't want to, so this line of thinking is pointless. All the Kingdom-and-beyond toys are going for show accuracy more than toy accuracy
>>10950421Because the original toy didn't do a 180 twist at the waist, so the spider legs naturally pointed that way. I remember being annoyed he couldn't do the machinegun mode from the show, so I lifted his arms up so the spider legs would point forward. kinda "Hands up and i'll shoot!">the sawyeah that thing's garbage, I keep trying to hand it off to another character, but it's fuckin sideways and that super limits where it could look good.
>>10950420It's still nowhere close to a realistic tarantula, even outside the colors.
>>10950423>a thing could have happened, but it didn't, so this line of thinking is pointlessumI want to say there's a specific name for that disorder, but I can't think of it.
>>10950426Looks like one to me. all it's missing is the web-fingers in back. Well and of course the palps aren't quite realistic.
>>10950427It's not that it "could have" happened, it's that it was never going to happen.
>>10950430anon."if" is a word meaning "in the event that" or "on the condition that"The fact that that condition didn't occur should not prompt you to shut down the premise.IF they wanted to, they could have. That is the discussion. A discussion you seem to think is pointless, despite clearly seeing others engaging in it, who must all think it's pretty pointful.
>>10950424Ahh I get it. Inversely, I found the modern spiders' gun arms to be a bit cumbersome for machine gunning or even sorting out post-transformation. I'm glad for the options and more posability, and was looking forward to the machine guns, but I don't know why I felt this way.>sidewaysMaybe it's doomed to be wrist-mounted only. I can't dig up Siege Ratchet but maybe it'll fit on a Ratchet. I'll see if Jhiaxus looks okay with it, he's on a different table from Tarantulas though
>>10950428It works as a generalized spider at least.
Is Suruga-ya viable to buy from? I found a Transformer that interests me and actually a bit cheaper than it would have been when it was first released, but the image used also appears on an ebay listing that costs more, which seems odd since it is a used listing (it isn't the stock image, but the tray out of the box and next to the package).
>>10950434but the new ones face forward, how are they more cumbersome than the old toys' spider legs?>wrist-mountingyeah actually I should think about that for one of my Tigatron repaints.. except his forearm holes are really tetchy and seem to only work on certain 5mm pegs.>>10950435I'm pretty sure it's a straight up lycosa tarantula. which, okay, technically is not the same group as the familiar tarantulae of the africa and the american southwest, the red-knees, the goliath bird-eaters, etc.. but it's the spider that the word 'tarantula' was first applied to, because it was so fucking scary that it made people go insane and dance themselves to death, or so the lore goes.
>>10950448>Suruga-yaNever heard of them. What character did you find, and how much are they asking for it?
>>10950456>but the new ones face forward, how are they more cumbersome than the old toys' spider legs? They're bigger and they mock me
>>10950456The original legs had to work as projectiles and there is nothing for why they are compromised here.
>>10950448I've seen that before too, Japanese secondhand sellers listing items in multiple places. It was the same when I went looking for Takara Windblade and Slipstream: eBay listings that mirrored Japanese secondhand site listings but with higher prices.I ended buying from Japan using one of those middlemen services since it ended up being cheaper, but it was a bit of a pain in the ass.
>>10950461that's true! they are preetybeeg.>>10950464I mean, the projectile aspect made them detachable, and they were kind enough to make the attachment point a ball joint, so I wouldn't call that compromised at all, vs a static leg.and all the spider legs have a ball joint this time, so I don't really get your specific complaint. What issue do you have with the new legs that you feel is compromised?
>>10950320Agreed. 100% brand new molds for the both of them or don't bother.
>>10950469>gaze into my NIPPLES OF THE FUTURE!
>>10949957Indeed, I got my regular TM Tarantulus for $65 (ebay price) only for it to turn out to be the Japanese version of the toy that goes for way more.
>>10950473oh nice! you saved money AND you got an extra paint streak on his eyes so it looks more like a visor.
>>10950283>How to tell you have a black walmartI have a VERY Black Walmart not far, Maybe hour+ away? And I swear everytime we've gone there's a cop car out front and SOMEBODY is getting arrestedBut they also still have G2, Studio Series and good selections on other linesProb cause the families can't afford shit
>>10950328How I feel about Dreadwind too
>>10950492I feel like you are confusing 'black' with 'poor' and this is a very important distinction to make. Uncle Phil should be welcome in your store, Uncle Kracker should not.
>>10950495I love tfs with that color scheme.
>>10950475>extra paint streak on his eyes so it looks more like a visor. You know, I never understood why they didn't just sculpt the visor on from the start - at that point, it had been established that his mutant head was his definitive look, so even if the toy sculpt was made before his actual debut on the show, there's no reason for them to have given him separate eyes - pretty much everyone who went Transmetal kept their same face from before, even Primal (who just lost the blast shield bits around his mouth, exposing his nose and more of his face).
>>10950501I get the strong impression that the transmetal designers were a very different group from the ones who did all the snarling weird-ass mutant beasts from the first wave. Considering most of the transmetals (especially the toy-only ones) bear only passing resemblance to the characters they supposedly are, I don't think they concerned themselves with that at all, or even looked at the old toys or the show. they were just given a list of animals and told to design one that has a vehicle mode, and with the robot mode sorta-kinda-not-really looking organic.
I want take for hasbro to remake this show with modern CGI or to fix all the animation errors and release it on 4k with a new 5 part miniseries for the Rebirth and to add an all new season to show what happens after G1 season 4
>>10950523... why is 'heroic autobot' there in the logo.is this ... did they clip this together from art assets that were from packaging or something
Which version of Transmetal Rhinox do you like?I like the fox kids blue one with green chrome.
>>10950543Judging by the old Hasbro House logo in the bottom right corner, probably
>>10950545He's kind of awkward in general, with his wide hips (they couldn't make those collapse?), his weird expanses of rhino-textured-skin-meat crammed inside of rhino head half-shells, and those side flaps just hanging in the breeze. Plus his bizarre third mode and his weird kinda Pokémonesque beast mode (what is with its snout??)... but all three of those are excellent paint jobs, not a bad one in the bunch. It's funny how like, chrome was a big selling point, they are the transmetals after all, yet due to chrome not playing nice with joints, they had to resign it to just a few areas, used just as accents, never as a main body color. Mainframe picked up on what they were putting down, and made sure to render them extra shiny. But then the 'organic' robot mode parts often looked shinier than they ought.
>>10950552>they couldn't make those collapse? They're as collapsed as they're going to get - his robot legs are his rhino arms, so they spin down and crunch together to make his pelvis; his rhino legs end up on his back, and robot arms stow in his rhino chest while the shoulders make the head.

>>10950543nothing on this poster is original to this piece, it's all taken from old shitthey did they same with the toxitron collectionfuckers are really trying to squeeze every dime
>>10950545The fact they never repainted this guy into Stranglehold will forever puzzle me.
How tall is prime/ginrai sans the trailer?
>>10950545i also had the blue one, and at the same time i got armada terrorsaurgood times
>>10950637>>10950545Armada really should have used the Rattrap mold. Would love to have that without the chrome.
>>10950288>I vaguely recall it being said somewhere that Primal's original name was BlackjackAs far as I know that's just the Italian name of the Ultra toy. That's what my Orimal's European box has told me all these years.
>>10950523I can't imagine how fucking hideous G1 is blown up to movie screen size.
>>10950663is it not just a screening of the movie?
>>10950666It's the first 4 episodes of the G1 cartoon, that's why they were made private on Youtube.

>>10950495>>10950328i love these flying gay bros like you wouldn't believeGO GAY OR GO HOME!
>>10950725Dreadwind has never been gay.
>>10950523>airing episodes of the dogshit cartoon instead of the actually decent movieBut… why…?Do they genuinely think people wanted to watch the cartoon?
>>10950732Because it's not the movie's 40th anniversary. Are you stupid?
>>10950732>airing episodes of the dogshit cartoonThey're not showing Beast Wars.
>>10950742What are you talking about? BW looked like shit, but had a good story, likable characters, and consistent plot.G1 looked like shit, had a bare bones story and was mostly just a blatant toy commercial, most characters were literal who's that show up once and never again, and a ton of the episodes were non sequiturs that don't do much to connect to the plot.
>>10950753The only thing consistent about Beast Wars plot is "Cheetor fucks everything up to make the episode happen".
>plebeianThe movies was the peak of G1>contrarianSeason 1 was the peak of G1>patricianSeason 2 was the peak of G1
>>10950732It is the first three that don't even match the way the rest of the show is written has a bunch of never used again abilities, plus one more episode to pad the runtime. 4 episodes feels cursed though.
Remember how they said they were going to do two different versions of Onslaught to match different appearances?
>>10950811It's weird too because the 4th episode is the one that ends with Megatron getting blasted back to Cybertron via Space Bridge and Starscream assuming command. It sets up for the 5th episode that they're not even using.
>>10950600i tell you what it has been frustrating watching every company go from "Cares way too much about 'image' and other shit nobody cares about" to "doesn't give two shits about image and almost self-sabotages">>10950637i dont love that guy but he really isnt too bad in robot mode.
>>10950819No
>>10950771Never watched past the first 6 episodes?
>>10950753>BW looked like shit, but had a good story, likable characters, and consistent plot.Looked fine for its time, unless Animated, RIP that guy but his art style was ugly as fuck, hideous humans like earthspark.
>>10950829I wonder if they scrapped it because they were aware Takara was doing Unite Warriors.
>>10950885You're comparing rotten apples to rotten orangeswyatt's style wasn't that ugly, it was just.. dumb. That same kinda shit going on with Glen Murakami and Man of Action. A very economical style for an action show, but flawed as fuck.earthspark is Beast Machines tier ugly. Or the cavemen in Beast Wars.
>>10950543Yes they actually did
Alright bros. Walmart has some good deals on the toxitron collection. For $22 I can get Toxitron himself, but for $27 I can get G2 Grimlock. Which is the better figure/deal?
>>10950910Grimlock is the better toy. Toxitron is carried by looks.
>>10950910Toxitron give you more options, get Grimlock only if you don't own the mold.
>>10950916I don't currently own the mold for either figure.
>>10949482It looks just like him.
>>10950924Thats an od lamp post.
>>10950926>Hello lamppost, whatcha findin?>I've come to watch your tapes rewindin'
>>10950910Grimlock is a fantastic Grimlock in fun fruity colors. Toxitron is the only Toxitron there will ever be for a long time, so if you ever wanted a G2 Optimus in Constructicon colors, go for him.
>>10950935>Toxitron is the only Toxitron there will ever be for a long timeToxiitron had two toys before the newest one. The newest one is, of course, the closest to the original cancelled toy.
>>10950910I wouldn't know. I never saw a single bot from the Toxitron collection at any of my local Wal-Marts.
>>10950819That's how I ended up with Scattershot. I couldn't run the risk of being stuck with baby-shit Bruticus so I had to pre-order that 2-pack for safety.
The awful looking new BB Shockwave made me want to go track down the old one. Holy cow this figure is sick as fuck. But, how did they come this close to perfection and leave out a waist joint. Wtf man
>>10950977>track downHope you didn't pay too much considering he's getting reissued next year
>>10950977it'd be hard to make a waist look good with all that mechanical detail, though I suppose it is still possible.
>>10950729>they're not gay bro>they just doing a centipede buttchug>no homo
>>10950980By that reasoning every combiner is a gay.
>>10950978>reissuedIve been paying attention to the leaks and somehow I missed that>next yearI dont think I did bad, especially considering I have zero patiencez. $70 with the DNA kit. He also sold me Movie the Best Lockdown for $10
>>10950985fuckin flathands. Dude's got transmetal cheetor hands here.
>>10950977When you said "the old one" I thought you meant the actual DotM voyager in all his pancake flat glory.
>>10950977Hell yeah. I got a friend who isn't a huge TF fan like I am, but still fucking loves DotM Shockwave in particular lol. I didn't get the original SS release, so I'm definitely glad he's getting reissued next year; I just hope they'd reissue some more decently-aged Bay SS figs, like fucking, SS10 Jazz is over $90 on ebay. ...the rest of 07/DotM definitely need redos or adjustments doe.
>>10950984Nta but yes.
>>10950986Ill take flat hands all day over the asking price on the studio series. Also, always wanted a version of this figure with his mask on. Furthermore, the fact that the studio series does not have a removable mask is atrocious and unforgivable. Moving along, grabbed pic rel for $20 which im pretty sure is a steal
>>10950995nice. i fuckin love sideswipe.
>>10950995Hope ya enjoy him anon, that figure's great lol. Shame he doesn't have headlights though, I found it silly how he's extremely similar to my 2009 toy but more polished, yet somehow lost those. Lol. Ah well, I'll figure out how to paint some on...
>>10950991>JazzYeah his price is crazy too. He is one of the main reasons I never collected this line. I saw him at the store and was totally shocked at his pin head. I think he is one of the most pin-headed looking toys ever made. I just bought the 07 one and it is wildly out of scale with today’s stuff. There is no winning with JazzBlog time:>go to local toy show >gonna try to talk down the worst guy there on his studio series scourge, he probably wants something astronomical like 150-200>wait 1.5 hours >hes the only vendor in the entire place who hasnt shown up >he does this all the time >fuck this guy>buy Nightbird and her upgrade kit instead >go home >text message >local toy bro “hey want a brand new KO Scourge for $40”Yes.
>>10951001that's a little spicy for a knockoff
So I managed to return Dia Atlas and got my money backI also got my first Gobot. I'm assuming his name is Mixer
>>10951003He costs $35 + shipping and a month wait time from china. I drove over and grabbed him. Anyway today I am freaking out bc I ran out of money with several deals on the table

>>10950985>$70 with the DNA kitJust about retail for both, not bad
>>10950941Those 2 are expensive as fuck exclusives.
>>10950984There actually is a combiner that includes a gay relationship. In the IDW1 version of Victorion, the cars are lesbian married.
>>10950977>he's getting reissued next yearNo fucking way
>>10951016that doesn't make my correction incorrect.
>>10951012THAT is what the gobots is based on?man they realllllly loosely adapted it, didn't they. had it looked like this, it could have been a way bigger competitor to transformers.
>>10950890Did Wyatt do Ben 10 Omniverse? I thought that looked good. He's got his gems, but I don't know, I like the idea or the spirit of Animated, going with more cartoony designs, but I don't like how oddly human most of them look, and I don't mean the proportions or anything, I mean how a lot of the bots just look like people in clothes. Like Mixmaster looks TOO MUCH like a construction worker. It's gives me OC, Deviant art vibes, even though I'm pretty sure this came out first.
>>10951026No, but they're no relevant to the conversation, since op is only getting either figure because they're currently cheap.
>>10951027The Gobots could have had a shot. I've only got the one now but I've always felt like their toys were always more interesting and creative than the contemporary TransformersIt's just that, even though we dunk on the G1 cartoon it was still outsourced to Japanese studios.Tonka decided to have their cartoon made by Hanna-Barbara.And I think the reason for that is that they never imported the main guy from Machine Robo. So they couldn't just dub the anime.
>>10951027No, that is the 1986 series that came after the US cartoon. It was made specifically to compete with Transformers season 3 in japan
>>10950773>>patrician>Season 2 was the peak of G1The season 2 theme was fucking kino as a kid, much prefer it over the original theme, even if that's more iconichttps://youtu.be/RqV1cf-pZag
>>10951027>THAT is what the gobots is based on?The Gobots cartoon? no, it was original with no connection to the anime other than the toys.
>>10950469Sorry kid, in real life Weird Al gets the girl. Nuthin personal.....
>>10951026well anon originally said "the only toxitron there will ever be"yes technically they -be-, but you can't really have them. And that's obviously what Anon was getting at.
>>10951029I think ben, glen, and whoever man of action is (i think several people?) all went to the same art school the same year. and that became the late 2000s art style after Avatar proved unprofitable.
>>10951033ohhhh okay, that makes sense.
>>10951046Teen Titans started before Avatar.
>>10951063hush
>>10951069What CN show are you going to claim was influenced by the look of Avatar then? Ben 10?
>>10951063It still wasn't yet "the style" at the time it came out.>>10951080I think the point is that nothing WAS influenced by Avatar, until 2011 thundercats gave it another try (and went full japan this time). and when that failed too (for the same reasons, shitty toyline that didn't try), they stopped entirely, and stuck with that goofy western shit that cannot into mecha.
>>10951020
>>10951083One of the ugliest drawings I've seen, the fucking combiner neck is broken, the left arm pose is akward as fuck, is the left leg empty? I get the concept but whoever did it still neeeded a ton of practice.
>>10951097it also looks like a weird hologram and it reminds me of Dinozaurs.
Of the Autobots at least Waverider has the best looking robot mode. Of course, Metalhawk is the one whose altmode actually looks like something.
>>10951081Weren't Avatar, Thundercats, and Voltron all just done by the same studio?
>>10951106Just going to fire that out there with no context, apropos of nothing?
>>10951122Tcats and Voltron wereAvatar was a genuinely new and unique art style blending some anime stuff with a lot more western stuff (especially the noses) and just.. weird body proportions if you ever really look at it and try to draw them screen-accurately.
>>10951128>Tcats and Voltron wereOkay, then at least Korra was as well
>>10951133I think they used that studio for a few episodes, but that studio didn't do the designs, and they went through like six studios
>>10950910Get Grimlock. Fun toy, great mold for the character, fun Greymon color scheme, no shitty Wheelie character tacked on.Toxitron uses the horrendous Legacy Laser Prime mold; his shoulders lack range of motion due to the pauldrons being immobile, his trailer is kinda bland, and he doesn't come with a proper gun (and no disk launcher gimmick).
>>10951126Originally there was a photo of the main Autobot Pretenders from 1988 and Metalhawk, but I dropped it.

I want a toy of this guy.Make it an Optimus Primal retool or something.
>>10951097That's because its filled with lesbians
Finally saw a Magmatron combination video. I'll have to check more reviews, but the combined robot mode seems to be held together by four tabs between Landsaur and Seasaur. I was hoping for something like that, along with pegs between all 3 to provide additional support. This means that if those four tabs are damaged, the combination could be undone very easily.
>>109511862/6 is "filled"

>>10951290>are they having a fucking orgy inside her? That was the intent, it failed.
>>10951293I can't even find the artist's website anymore. I need to know more.
>>10951189Looking at the old one, that one used tabs and clips, but it's still more secure than the new one, one arm used an l peg, the other clips, and skysaur has a dedicated connection to seasaur via clips. Its not perfect but some of those could be damaged and the combination should still work, while the new one seems to have seasaur entirely held by a set of clips on that connect to Laundaur on both sides of the chest and nothing else.
>>10951296Search his name+art on google images.
Only downside to this design is how little nessie is needed to complete the transformation. By the looks of it you could have a full Magmatron with just the other two.
>>10951382Where do you think the arms come from?
>>10951382Nah.
>>10951385>>10951389You don't need arms to function, abelists.
>>10951382The new one's components seem decenr enough, shame the actual combination is barely held together.
>>10951382Yeah that's always been the case, but I'm not sure what else you could do with itbtw it's an elasmosaur, not a plesiosaur. similar, but way longer neck. which again, why? Why not do a plesiosaur? given that the neck does nothing in the combined robot mode.
>>10951299>Its not perfect but some of those could be damaged and the combination should still workCan attest to that. Due to how you need to attach skysaur slightly crooked due to some wonky tolerances/design one of the clips on mine is a bit stressed, but the thing is still rock solid when combined.

Sorry if that's a dumb question but when they say Transformers One is an animation film, does it mean just like the past movies but without humans and without actual filmed footages (basically the Cybertron part of Bumblebee) or does it mean cartoon/Disney CGI style?I'm just trying to figure out if I should prepare to spend some money on the future toy line or not.

She's supposedly made out of Death Crystals (hence her spiky appearance), and while the concept of a robot made out of crystals transforming into a helicopter (or any other vehicle) seems weird at first, it makes sense if you think of them as more primitive robotic lifeforms - anything made out of metal is technically made from refined rocks and ores, so these guys are just unrefined Cybertronians.I'll say she makes for a better helicopter than the new Sandstorm, since she doesn't have to make any compromises to accommodate a third mode while trying to stay show accurate.

>>10952493>his brotherUltra Fagnus?
>>10952511Ultra Magnus was, for most of IDW1, a persona adopted by Minimus Ambus. Minimus was a Loadbearer, having a spark powerful enough to animate a body far larger than his defeat form. Ambus's default form was a small, Cassettebot-sized body. His first layer of armor made him "normal" sized, though still a little short, and granted him a hovercar mode. His next layer of armor was the Magnus Armor.Dominus Ambus was Minimus's brother. Also a Loadbearer, his default form turned into a turbofox. His single layer of armor made him "normal" sized. Dominus was married to Rewind, before faking his death in order to infiltrate the Decepticon Justice Division as a spy. He took on a new set of armor and the DJD's "Vos" codename. Eventually he was discovered, striped down to his base form, and lobotimized into a feral animal. The next "Vos" of the DJD was the sniper rifle-former, spiky-mask-guy.
>>10952532Here's Minimus is his base, first layer, and upgraded Magnus armor, the last being the biggest body his spark could animate. Instead of Magnus being a white Optimus with armor, he's a white and green other guy with armor.

>>10952682Like >>10952687 says, both toys were relatively androgynous enough to pass; they also had the benefit of having a tie-in cartoon that gave them more feminine models and female voice actors, making it far easier for kids to overlook the appearance of the actual toys by associating them with the clearly female characters on the cartoon. After all, when you mention Blackarachnia or Airazor (or ANY Transformers character, even the G1 guys) to someone who grew up with the show, it's usually the show model that pops into their head first rather than the toy .

Serious question for you fine people:Are the MP Lambo/Countach figures fun to transform like the Siege Sideswipe mold?
>>10952820Yes, they're basically in the era where people were like "Woah, MPs are fun now". It was cool while it lasted.
>>10949573booooo>>10952449let me know if you can put seasaur's head as a 'tail' in robot mode.
>>10952820The MP Lambo's are greatI got a KO and still made me just want a genuine more.
>>10952362Honestly, It's an even STUPIDER issue than that. It's the fact they are approaching fembots differently at all. G1 Hot Rod has roughly the same proportions as G1 female Autobots. The biggest difference is there's just more soft curves in areas like the thighs and forearms. It seems we either get try too hard to be dainty and overly human or we get weird thin but sharp squared angles. All that needs to be done is make the transformation scheme GOOD and not be given "hero" shoulders and the sculpt work and carry the rest... SS86 Hot Rod is pretty damn close to the proportions of most female transformers. It's beyond stupid Hasbro can't just invest in at least one really good base mold for female transformers even and just reshell and resculpt around it. Yet, they were willing to do that 8 times with a TERRIBLE base mold that nobody enjoyed transforming.
>>10952768Mm, depends on the execution imo. Personally found it funny that Marvel Primus apparently genuinely died to Unicron at the end anyway, and from a cool-factor c'mon, Galaxy Force Primus transforming and having a galactic-scale fight with a superpowered giant Starscream who's whipping around planets like they're flails, is really fucking cool. But yeah, he doesn't need to be in everything.
>>10952890TF fans and the people working on TF overthink it.Just make a vehicle that turns into a robot, and give it a female face. You're fucking done.

>>10952890I think the Legacy Elite-1 does a good job of balancing elegant female proportions without loosing the robot look. He sculpt kind of gives the impression of a fit woman wearing body armour. It helps that the lower parts give her thinner waist but wider hips and rounded thighs, [spoilerdon'tworkontoy]and a sculpted buttcrack window.[/spoiler]
>>10952954This was the shit I couldn't stand. I watched Gobots and thought it was so same that this is what they were using as female characters.

>>10953104From what I've heard that one yellows too.
>>10953105well shit, I do have Tigatron and some other yellowing prone figures and they're fine so I might take a gamble anyways
>>10953104Selects looks good but has really bad tolerance issues, his arms and legs are likely to be really floppyI have seen cases of discoloration but it's nothing like the yellowing of kingdom, more like a greying. Personally, my copy hasn't changed at all
>>10953059It’s definitely closer. But the backpack is so unnecessary. The shoulder pylons are whatever since it had to be Minerva. It could be improved by the fenders being shoulders/biceps and having the chest be part of a plate for the hood or trunk of vehicle mode. That way we end up with windshield and maybe one panel hinges over it as a backpack only. Also smaller thinner wheels, utilizing wheels like SS86/T30 Arcee or SS86 Hot Rod would go a long way in the engineering. Especially since most fembots hav more stylized vehicle modes typically.
>>10953130>Selects looks good but has really bad tolerance issues, his arms and legs are likely to be really floppyah that's a shame, those things are probably fixable but still, that sucks to hear
>>10953134the backpack pieces should be able to wrap around like a fur wrap
Will John Warden be bringing back all the gimmicks?
>>10953149Reminds me of Movie 1's Arcee where the wheel split and folded over and looked like a bra.
>>10953155The second Blackarachnia had sort of an option to fold her shoulder armor down so it looked like this, but that figure was still a mess.
>>10953159Yeah. I appreciate them trying new shit though. Speaking of something like a shawl, I wish they'd make that one western Cyberverse guy with an actual budget. Wild Wheel or something? They had a cool idea with that but his toy looked like it was made for McDonald's or something. I know we are talking about female characters, but I'm just thinking out loud.Wish they did more unique shit like they used to instead of having the fem bodies just hanging underneath the vehicle.
>>10953154Are there any more headmaster characters they can update?
>>10953149Except then the shoulder articulation would be crazy limited and everyone would be complaining about that. Honestly as backpacks go, Elita's is pretty tidy and gets out of the way of the shoulders nicely.
I completely forgot that we're supposedly seeing Transformers One toys this Thursday
>>10953171Hopefully not, Headmasters are literally the worst gimmick introduced to Transformers. Seriously who thought it would be a good idea to make the head of the character a losable accessory?
>>10953177I don't have high expectations for the quality of the film, but god damn if I'm not seeing it in theatres.
>>10953176I don't mean permanently in robot mode. Something you can fold and unfold, like armor (but fashionable)
>>10953171Most of Masterforce
>>10953179I like the changes Titans Return gave the gimmick>replacement heads are available in the form of the little vehicle driver packs, plus you get an extra weapon from it>lorewise, each head acts like a bionicle mask, giving the body different powers
Is that Jetfire the same huge one?
>>10953149That would be crazy obtrusive. Maybe hip skirt armor like how Earthrise Elita has in her design would be the more practical version of that concept.>>10953176Elitas backpack def isn't horribly offensive. But it feels like a huge step back compared to engineering of the male figures. She pretty much just is a higher quality combiner wars style transformation.Truly simplest solution is just do the arms like this. The G1 female autobots all are just the standard Floro Dery look. If Hasbro has figured out Hot Rod, Blurr and Kup they can figure it out easy. Just thin out areas of the designs and stick to what they did with Legacy Elitas legs and just lean into the boot look.Hasbro needs to learn female figures sell less not because they're female. They sell less because they're half assing the engineering. Which is ironic because they're pretty much half assing it because of the former. It's just so agitating seeing the same mistakes made over and over again, especially when we then get thrown shit like the rock armorizers, like they really put more faith and budget in THOSE?
>>10953179You just put another head on. Even gives different stats if you do.
>>10953179>a losable accessoryThis argument is always so retarded. You're not a little kid anymore, if losing accessories is still a problem as an adult you really need to take better care of your things.
All the good stuffs already sold out
>>10953301Transformers is a toyline aimed at children. Optimus Prime had the smokestacks shortened and lots of guys had their springs removed or small parts replaced with bigger ones because it is a toyline for children.
>>10953264Yeah it's just a reissue of the Siege toy
>>10953305Thanks. Almost got it just for the blast effects.
>>10953208It was really cool and gave us tiny bots for the titans base modes.>>10953304>Transformers is a toyline aimed at childrenNot since the mid 2000, sure we still get the baby lines to introduce new fans, but the mainline is aimed at teens and 40 something adults.
>>10953320And Headmasters were designed in 1987 so they should be understood from the context of their creation.
>>10953147Definitely fixable, but annoying. My copy couldn't even hold up his gun, his arms were THAT loose. I don't get why cyclonus has such bad mold degradation with only 2 other uses, hopefully ferak fares better
>>10953322>hey should be understood from the context of their creation. No, they're not selling them to kids anymore, thats why the titanmasters are way smaller than the original headmasters, the new target audience is supposed to be more careful than a 7 yr old on the 80s.You must be one of those who has a hard time keeping track of their keys or phone.
>>10953075Why are you homosexual and don't want the car robots to look like car robots?
Hey guys, if I wanted Siege Jetfire, should I preorder the reissue now or should I wait til after the reissues are shipped out, in hopes of getting one for under $90 secondhand?Like I want him, but have trouble justifying spending that much money.
>>10953104As others said, He still yellows and has tolerance issues with floppy limbsI've had to accept just not getting a good Cyclonus even tho I like the mold a lot.Pre Ordered Ferak tho
>>10953345>in hopes of getting one for under $90 secondhand?why do you think this will happen
>>10953345I got mine secondhand for 100.
>>10952548One of my favorite things about IDW Magnus is that it revealed how surprisingly high the number was of people that didn't know Magnus has always been a smaller guy in a suit.
>>10953345I think you should just pre order him and secure himFinding him under retail may take awhile and I think I'd rather just have that guaranteed one.
>>10953350I dunno, that's why I'm asking if it might.Maybe prices will go down after more stock is introduced and assumedly most people who wanted him got him, I dunno?>>10953367I guess so. Well, I'll think about it; will just hope I can secure Magmatron for a decent discount price later, lol.
>>10953349All these reissues and they still havn't reissued him sans yellowing.
>>10953363White Optimus Prime recolors happened a lot, until the one that actually tries to look like the bigger guy.
>>10953371One of the insider that leaks most stuff said all toylines reduced their SKU numbers this year, so if you want something better preorder it cause they're producing less to avoid shelf warming.
>>10952952makes you wonder if the xenoblade guy read that comic

>>10953028you are kind of incredible.
>>10953179technically most heads are removable
>>10953304that's bad
>>10953413dammit. we are fucked
>>10953363He was always the same guy in a suit.
>>10953304>>10953320And even then we expect kids to take care of stuff like tiny Nintendo switch(and DS/3Ds cards before that) and other small items. Plus the addition of small effects parts. It's basically just retardproofing, which is good. TF is best when it doesn't cater to dumb kids, that's what the mashing and one step figures are for.
>>10953439and he was the same guy throughout IDW, so what's the problem?
Kickback, Tarantulas, Pointblank, Skids, Crankcase and Jhiaxus are all on sale today on BBTS; they've also got both Jetfire and the Shattered Glass Prime and Ratchet 2-pack restocked for those who missed them on Pulse earlier..
>>10953449No he was killed off and they had a pretender steal his name. But I guess I shouldn't deadname Tinyius Penicus, his pronouns are Ultra/Magnus now.
>>10953462please show me the issue that depicts the death you're describingoh wait
Have you guys considered just not replying to the retard? He's been dredging this talking point up to bait interaction for years now.
>>10953476that depends, which person are you specifically referring to?
>>10953476if it was that easy, there would be no trolls
>>10953449He wasn't though. While he mostly was, they had JUST finished a flashback miniseries the year before that had the original Magnus. In addition to that, his character was written very consistently until the lost light/mtmte where they decided to retcon him as someone else. It's very obvious they remade the character in the moment, like they did with anyone else that showed up in that series.
>>10953492In fairness I dunno if it's fair to dump that exclusively on MTMTE, all of IDW was pretty loose with characterizations depending on who was writing.Kup written by McCarthy is different from Kup written by Roche, who's different from Kup by Barber... you get the idea.
>>10953492magnus's character was consistant throughout, pre- and post-mtmte.i'll concede the point about the flashback miniseries having the original magnus, but I'll also dismiss it because that flashblack miniseries was AWFUL. And the characterization was the same anyway.
>>10953492>>10953509In fact, the only times that Magnus' characterization differed was:- In issue 14 of MTMTE, which was a few issues before the Minimus reveal, that was showing a bunch of times that "Magnus" had died- The Rom crossover miniseries, which was published LONG after the Minimus reveal and was specifically one of the previous Magnus armor wearers.Other than those, and the flash miniseries mentioned before, all of the Ultra Magnus appearances in IDW were Minimus. Other than those two points listed above, Ultra Magnus acted the same.So getting mad about it is insane.
>>10953485It really is that easy, just don't respond
>>10953529try it
>>10953345 Yeah I cracked and pre-ordered. I justified it to myself as giving myself free shipping on the new Superior Spider-Man too, lol. Also like while Magmatron may or may not go on discount someday, I feel like budgeting-wise it'll be a safe bet to wait on getting SS86 Optimus (assuming he's good). It's not like he'll go out of stock forever; he's G1 Optimus and presumably their definitive version of him, no matter how much he sells out they're gonna reissue him to hell and back. They reissued Earthrise several times, they just reissued GE Optimus (I wasn't sure if they would anytime soon); and look, even G1 Jetfire alone is getting reissued for the 2nd time already lmao. So I won't worry about "missing out" on Optimus, I'll just be patient if anything. I've got tons of other Optimus's.
(now if only they'll finally put out an Armada Jetfire...)
>>10953559Not to mention reissues of both SS 38 and 102 Optimus are happening
>>10953618Oh yeah, those too. Isn't Armada Optimus also supposed to be reissued sometime? Think I heard a rumor like that.Honestly I'm just waiting on a new 07-DotM mold for Optimus lol, both the SS ones suck. Also Powermaster, Super Link, Galaxy Force, and FoC, of course. I'm more interested in all of those than plain G1 personally, lol.
So what's the final consensus on MPG Raiden?
>>10953637I prefer Sub-zero
>>10953637Complete dogshit
>>10953637Fragile, overpriced and still needs a waist extension add on to look ok , you have 3p and official options for it (have to buy a whole extra train to get the official add on).

Bonecrusher comes packaged a lot more like a Commander class toy than a Masterpiece toy
>>10953759is there really that much more for him to go in all those sub-boxen?
>>10953759Saw him cheap, but kept hearing about some design flaw with his ratchets or something so I passed.
>>10953684>Actuallying buying the meme Liokaiser shitLol. Good shit on the T2 Terrosaur tho
Awhile back I had decided to narrow down my collection to Beast Wars, G2s (be it original or new), and SS86. But the entomologist in me has me thinking... it wouldn't be so bad to buy Insecticons, would it?How are the Legacy insecticons? Anybody have them? Ya like'em?
>>10953778robot animals are honorary beast wars, you've gotta let those inthat said, insecticons are more like sentai mechs. I don't hate them, but..
>>10953782I'm sticking to BW style guys, opening things up to robot-animals means I'll spemd way way more on Transformers.
>>10953784not if you're picky, most of them suckbut when good ones come along, I get em. it's actually weird realizing that, with these last PF guys, and no transmetals on the horizon, I have very few more purchases in my future. Which is good, income's down, and shelves are full. Silverbolt's gonna have to squeeze in.
>>10953683>well they just look so delicious..Go away, Trypticon.
>>10953785I don't know, my overall experience with the BW figures (Kingdom/Legacy) have been that each time I'm pleasantly surprised and like it more than I expect to. So far I've got Rattrap, Primal, Mutant Tigatron, Tarantulas, Buzzworthy Dinobot, Buzzworthy Terrorsaur, TM2 Megs, Inferno, Night Prowler, Buzzworthy Scorponok and Sandstorm. I think the only one I've found lacking was Terrorsaur which is a damn shame because he was one of my favorite characters.
>>10953794i'm surprised you have issues with terrorsaur but not scorponok or inferno, but yeah this is a damn good line. compromised, corner-cut, but still nice.
>>10953799They aren't perfect but at least their alt modes aren't "taking a squat and wearing a kite on my back" you know? Terrorsaurs alt mode is just... like the most "transforming" that happens is that his head folds in. I don't require every alt mode to be perfect, mind you, bit I do at least wish the transformation to involve some transformimg you know? This all being said... I have Kingdom Airrazor and Maximal Skywarp in the mail... so who am I to complain.
>>10953815at least his arms tuck into his body, guarantee that same toy made 20 years ago the arms would plug into the wings and you would be expected to just ignore them.but yeah, it's irritating that they didn't retool him to be more like the original. They could have still used small parts of the airazor mold.
>>10953820I mean outside of the pterasaur head not rotating, I think the old toy did do everything better lol. Some ankle tilts and more stability and it'd be golden. Plus I loved how his little gun folded in half and hid behind his head. Can you believe I'd buy this damn mold a 4th time if theh released Lazerbeak though? What is wrong with me
>>10953825that's the thing, they easily could have rigged up the "wing backpack" backwards. It wouldn't be exactly like the old toy, you wouldn't have the legs running under the body and you just ignore them, instead the hips would make his chest (and he had a pretty strong chest with big flight muscles on the show) while the feet would trail out behind -which is what pterosaur feet do-my only thought is they were like "hey he should be able to stand, he stood a lot on the show!" so they did this.
>>10953684>getting microfrens this lateWhy, why didn't you get them sooner
>>10953765>BoxenAre you the same anon who occasionally does the random cartoon references of variable obscurity in these threads?I just wanted to say I love you, your dad humor is very refreshing among these cynical nerds, thank you.
>>10953849I really appreciate itI'm also the one who is annoying sometimes when he fucks it up. But you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, right?Actually no, I hate that. You -tie- 100% of the competitions you don't participate in. So I guess get better first, then compete. Always a work in progress. Also I need to figure out a way to make my computer lock me out once I get sleepy.
>>10953767You really should get him, regardless of whatever effects some may have reported. I don't say this lightly, but I think that MMP Bonecrusher is one of the best transformers toys ever. The size, the engineering, the sense of character it displays in both modes, all are just top tier.
>>10953349Tbh I think if painted properly he could look good in copper or gold.
>>10953891it's weird how much nostalgia and esteem I have for the movie designs, even if most of them looked a bit cooler in the movie (and I guess in my head) than their actual models do (and by extension the toys)
>Amaon AU Gears and Shard order>New estimated delivery date:>We will email you as soon as we have a delivery date.I'm fucked, aren't I?
>>10954103What's wrong?
>>10954116They're showing up as out of stock, so apparently they ran out of the first batch of stock before fulfilling mine.
>>10953301>if losing accessories is still a problem as an adult you really need to take better care of your things. That is a solid argument, but it's something that's bugged me ever since I was kid, even though I did take care of my stuff, but small parts just bug me. Things like muzzle flashes, or grenades, missiles, all that stuff, I just look at it and think "this needs to be kept in a special box so that it's never lost." but even if something like a missile gets lost, okay that sucks but in the grand scheme not that big a deal, but if the head goes missing (if I'm moving or need to transform the figure for storage, whatever), then that ruins the toy. Yes, I know you can get the alternate heads and stuff now, but if I lose the head to Nitro Zeus, and put the head from Galvatron or Fangry on it, it's not Nitro Zeus any more.
>>10953514Don't be obtuse. I don't really care about the Minimus retcon, but I have been annoyed by stupid retcons in the past. If a new writer for a franchise you cared about ever made a retcon you found stupid, you should understand why people are upset.
>>10953684Ah yes, another fan of my two favourite beastformers.

MPM Brawl will be shown on Friday.
>>10954202Right, full sized and female.
>>10954155But it's not a stupid retcon. He gained a lot of character development before and after his real form was revealed, and he never felt any less like an Ultra Magnus. This is Transformers, a franchise that completely reinvents everything about itself every five seconds; why get so hung up on one specific iteration, when there's like 5 other radically, wildly different other ones too? The only reason to complain in this scenario is if one just hated new ideas, in which case this isn't the franchise for them.
>>10953896I finished my cartoon collection and I am now cracking out on movie figures which I was not expecting to happen. I realized 2007 was a long time ago now. I can map my entire life by what transformers I was buying and now Im starting to look back at all these movies more fondly. I has also occurred to me that movie TFs scratch yet another itch. With a transformer you get your vehicle, your robot and your puzzle. But with the movie figures you basically get a replica car too. The liscened car modes just really do something for me. Feels like im getting more
>>10954203Damnit I don't want to see him, I may be tempted. I already sold my Blackout and am thinning my movie bot collection.
Does the toy commercial really need to say "actual change time may vary" because they showed an abbreviated transformation? Are people really that stupid and litigious?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClhnIelOgZc
>>10954241Yes
>>10954241Most likely, yeah - something I learned is that if an advertisement has some REALLY bizarre disclaimer in it, it's because there was a lawsuit against the company and they really did lose it thanks to not specifying that.
>>10954241We live in a day and age where people will whine and try to sue over any little thing they can; the disclaimer is one less excuse for a headache from a generation of people who take things far too literally and are not intelligent enough to figure these kind of things out on their own unless explicitly stated.
>>10953684>Toy BA>TM TerrorsaurIncredible taste. I have the Armada version of Terrorsaur there, great figure.

>>10954147>but if the head goes missing (if I'm moving or need to transform the figure for storage, whatever)That's just paranoia, anon. If things are properly stored and boxed they wouldn't go anywhere. Also, from the headmasters I have they attach so securely into the body that they're not going anywhere any time soon, or can be stored in the cockpit in vehicle mode if it's one of those that can close securely. If you need to move you can also just keep all inside a ziploc bag and then put that inside a bigger box with their bodies, or even inside a bigger toy with storage compartments.
>>10953371>>10954368Whats that little bot he comes with? I want the supreme god one but that bot looks stupid on his chest
>>10954405That's ginrai himself, just one of the many ways japan tried to shoehorn mecha into transformers because they cannot fathom the cool robots themselves being characters
>>10954408Pfft what a joke
>>10954241the real question is, if the lawyers are so rabid (and they are) why don't they find something to sue about anyway? it's both fundamentally impossible to avoid that AND there are clearly things left that are misleading (which makes sense, when people are only forced to do good to the letter of the law, they neglect anything else)
>>10954419Similar to Headmasters, the giant bodies of the master robots are alive, but don't work unless the little guy (in Masterforce, humans) take control of them. Masterforce does have regular transformers, and the show does kinda justify why this makes sense.
>>10954419>>10954427It gets sillier because somehow after Masterforce the robot bodies become 100% freewilled robots who still have the names and personalities of their human ex-partners.In fact, because of LG and Victory, there's two Ginrais, the human godmaster who becomes a headmaster then a godmaster again (because MP stories are canon) and the robot guy who gets rebuilt into Victory Leo

>>10955119I'm sitting here waiting too, man. I skipped all those little dinos even though I love core class.
>>10955167If I could predict the quality and how heavy the paint will be. I regretted MP Optimus 3.0 so much.
>>10955151you be the judge.
>>10955178I don't. Only MP I regret is Blackarachnia.
>>10955182he's a fucking chameleon
Hasbro Pulse is finally getting ready to ship out Missing Link Convoy and Lunar Rover Optimus. What an expensive month this was for me.
>>10954897Tbf, Minerva stopped being a power master eventually in continuity.
>>10954460Jin-rye
>>10955197hang onisn't there a liquor called rye.. you could have it with gin..
>>10955202You don't think...
>>10955104Ok fine, it has been stale with evergreen BS for the past decade, and I'm in denial about it. My descriptionof the franchise hasn't been true since 2012 or so. But even so, it HAD been true for ~30 years since the franchise started; and doesn't it mean something that IDW1 (the one TF thing that actually tried to continue being different during the 2010s) is what the modern fanbase latched onto so hard? Above RiD15, Cyberverse, and the movies since AoE? I'm not sure "Shut up! Stupid!!1" is quite the best argument you could've formed, so I'll just give you this one last (you) for the road.
>>10955185whos the best transformer at doing the chameleon walk? Minor knocks it out of park, yet again, but there must be some contenders. those movie bots have weird cool limbs sometimes? right? there must be something good about them!
>>10955018Pipes can rotate the cab, Huffer has the nicer deco.
What's the difference between the C-01 and C-02 Missing Link Optimus Primes? Is it just that one of them has tampos and yellow eyes while the other is blank and has blue? Which is the better of the two?
>>1095477213 years ago, I saw her in person but back then I was a poor college student.brand on file name.
>>10955235Toy colors and anime colors. Toy colors comes with a trailer (but it doesn't get nearly the overhaul the cab robot does), while anime colors is trailer-less. Both toys are identical molds beyond the colors. Which is better just comes to your own personal preference on the idea.
>>10955235Same toy, one emulates the original toy deco with the old decals now as sculpt detail, the other uses the same mold but its deco is more basic cause its based on the cartoon, the more expensive one (g1 toy colors) comes with the trailer.
>>10955236>molds lost forever because the owner of the company committed seppuku
>>10955229man now i just want a chameleonformernot exactly sure how it could be done well, given that it's kind of everything you don't want to deal with in a beast mode (tail that can't reasonably articulate in a figure, so it's stuck in a useless shape, limbs that are too long to hide, but too spindly and boring to simply recycle as robot limbs)
>>10955252>chameleonformerWait, we don't have one of those? thought there was one on rid, but that was a frog.
>>10955229BM Geckobot pulls it off pretty well in both modes. It helps that he's an actual lizard (though he's neither a chameleon nor a gecko, strangely).
>>10955261isn't that a longisquama? I don't think those are actually lizards.
>>10955264He's a 'Flying Dragon' (picrel), and as far as I can tell, they're classified as lizards.
>>10955265oh right, right, one of those. They have a dewlap sometimes! so cute!
>>10955184It was si annoying to transformers with how tight all the joints ended up due to paint, and then there's the exploding ratchets.
>>10955279>exploding ratchets
>>10955236This is the kind of thing that R.E.D. should have done
>>10955305thats a good idea ..shame this isn't an ideal world
FINALLYI feel like I manifest this dood into reality myself. At the start of Kingdom, with the first reveal of the beast wars characters Commander Magmatron was top of my wishlist. Feels good man...
>>10955330Landsaur is fiddly af trying to get his nappy on in beast mode... And unfortunately Maggi's sword is rubbery plastic - pic related, obvs.
>>10955331Spark crystals tho :D
>>10955332beast walking pose I can get on Skysaur, if only the wings had a deeper cut so they could fold a little better...
>>10955335He's a big guy
Pretty much spot on to his "The Gathering" incarnation
Plapples
>>10955331>scalie orgytroneeeewwwwwwwww
>>10955349Did someone say orgy?
>>10955358MODSSSSSS!!!!!
>>10955359shhhhhh it's okay, I can be your mod
>>10955330hell yeah thanks for the pix mate

>>10955372sadly, this is it - could have done with desu
>>10955376*without rather>>10955368np, shame I'm such a shit photographer, ha
>>10955384New thread when? We fucking hit image limit ffsI wanted to post renders of tfone optimus design, it looks lit
>>10955221Geewunners have been seething since 1986. Saying that the franchise changes is irrelevant to fans getting upset over new things. You literally just wouldn't get it.
>>10955389Can you new thread? The render image would make a good thread thumb nail, yes?
>>10955202See >>10954539
>>10955384Would you say he's worth full commander price
>>10955330So, is the robot mode held together by four chest tabs?
>>10955393I can't do it, but here is link to the image:https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/04/17/first-look-at-transformers-one-optimus-prime-toy-508912
>>10955358I like the goat, anon. That's a nice goat :)
>>10955389<3>>10955431>>10955431
>>10955416absolutely, he's huge, sturdy and intricate enough>>10955419Nope, there are some tabs on the chest but the solidity seems to come from the arms clipping in to place, I'll try get a better pic later>>10955432Thanks, not sure how closely related it is to a goat but it's an East African Oryx. My family has a bunch of random stuff from South Africa when they lived there in the 70's.
>>10955236>but back then I was a poor college student.I know this pain. That was a rough few years for me as well.
>>10954230I’m genuinely sorry that you look back fondly on the last knight. How is the latest Adam Sandler movie?
