Anyone else here get their hands on Rasetsu Sekiko? Mine came in today, and I'm having the hardest time removing the clear piece from the lower back. The peg on mine feels stuck and I'm afraid of breaking the clear plastic.

Nevermind, managed to get mine out with no damage. I had to get my thumb and index fingernails under the clear part where the silver painted bits are and wiggle it side-to-side until it came out. I'll definitely use a knife to loosen the peg for the future.

I'm surprised at how rigid and solid this figure feels. Other than the tail, hair, and hands, this thing feels like it has no PVC parts. Honestly it feels like a prebuilt and prepainted Koto kit, except it uses ABS and I think POM for everything instead of PS. I like how modular all the armors bits are. Here's hoping there's future Rosado Project releases that let combine and customize parts.

First time painting one of these kits. I did a pretty terrible job with most of it. I'll stick with preshading for armor and some kind of putty for the masking in the future. I did like how I could use multi primer on the ABS skin and airbrush clear paint for shadows that way.

Anyone use Gaianotes Evo Clear Surfacer? I am tempted to use that instead of opaque surfacer so I can keep the plastic color and skip a step in places.

So I've had the Arcanadea Elena sitting in my warehouse a HLJ since release, but I figured it should probably practice on a cheaper kit since I haven't built a model in over 20 years.

Kinda finished JW-021 yesterday and I was wondering about painting her. Gold would surely use some actual paint since each nub left visible mark, as if these parts were sprayed instead of casted like that. And some parts won't just suffice on cement welding and require putty use.

What's your opinion? Any interesting colour ideas in mind, too?

Just finished snapfitting my 30MS and girlpla in general. Overall, I have mixed thoughts. The build was pretty standard and simple. I’m impressed at how tight the joints are, but I wonder if these would benefit from using polycaps. Some of the joint choices are a bit questionable, especially for her neck—and the overall articulation isn’t great. I don’t supposed that this gets better with modern releases? She’s also just ever the slightest bit frail, which I hope to fix when I get around to painting her.
I figured that these were things to expect with the very first 30MS, but I’m curious as to how the line as developed. I have a Figurise Fumina waiting in my private warehouse, which I hear is a 30MS but in name, so I’ll find out first hand soon enough. I may still pick up that next P-Bandai release or some of these iDOLM@STER kits, too.

Come to think of it, I wanted to give a try to idea of fabric covered cloth. I might as well try it out now. Since I use brush, I hae two options - either paint skin color first and then use contrast black/dark brown paint or paint black and highlight with skin color mixed with black. Nail polish is a bit poopy - it'll scrape off, I've tried it before.
I've seen people recommend a tiny tiny bit of superglue, or to smear a little bit of cement in the joint.
(Cement to tighten up joints was actually suggested on one of Koto's official FAG videos)

My guess would be that they wanted pressure to buy full kits for the missing parts to skim a few extra bucks off the top over MSG kits. This could also be why they're so stingy with hair parts. I think what's really weird is that they seem to be playing with the idea for the Sousai line, I swear I saw a blank handscale body, and the ASRA Aois are like 90% of what you'd want in a blank body anyway so it's not like they aren't aware of the demand. I think she's OK. The accessories to make the four types are really cool. A lot of the seam lines are integrated into her design cleverly. My critiques are that there aren't any eye decals so repainting is difficult, and that the some joints like the holster mount points and the bits in her poncho strap are too tight. One of my straps popped off on its own and flew off never to be seen again. Also no leg or foot rotation.

I'm going to start painting the black parts of her at least and blinging up some lines with brass metallic.

The story of this kit is hilarious.
When Yamato was airing and it was popular, everyone was banking on the toys.
Aoshima had made their own yamato-like toy as well which was a big boat that segmented into 4 other veichles, but also contained a little robot whose parts were intergrated into those segments.

The principal problems I have with this kit are pieces barely fitting, like a lot and in the end they look not so clean so you need to work on that if you want it to buy.

She can't hold her guns, the grap is so loose so even this basic pose you need to work to prevent them failing off.

So I tried seam welding on some skin bits, but it didn't quite join and you can still kind of see it. I can't seperate it cause most of it is stuck with glue, can I just chuck more glue on and hope it forms together?
Anybody have had to fix something like this before?

I've had this happen mostly with older (80's and 90's) models. Can you post a close-up picture of the part? Either way, you can try:

1: A little more glue. Probably won't work but worth a shot.

2a: If you aren't planing on painting, try making putty out of the skin-tone runners. This can sometimes cause a discolored spot, but it gets close enough if you don't want to paint.

2b: If painting, try using Tamiya basic putty thinned with Mr. Leveling Thinner 400. Add a little thinner at a time until it's at a paintable consistency. It may take a few coats to fill the gap. Once you're happy you can wet sand it.

I have this happen at least once on every kit across all lines of mecha musume. Seems to only happen with the ABS parts though. There'll always just be this one part, big or small, that sometimes doesn't melt enough so you end up with a seam that's closed but slightly discolored so you can see where the seam would be. It seems incredibly random and I can't pin down why this happens.

Yup, ABS parts. I have a bottle of Tamiya cement for ABS, but extra thin seemed to soften and glue it fine too so I haven't been using it. I don't like how thick the ABS cement is as well. Wondering if I can thin it with acetone.

Hey! I've been doing this for a while now.
I'm using the tamiya extra thin to bond the parts together since I concluded that tamiya ABS cement seam weld is more visible after the treatment, then I run down the seam with my knife to remove any excess, and finally i sand it down with a 300 superfine 3M sanding sponge.

If you let the glue stay for a bit before pressing the piecies together it'll melt the plastic a bit more and it'll allow it to come together a bit tighter.
Be sure to cut the pegs at an angle (pic related) of whatever you're gluing so they don't get stuck, but are still there to guide the parts together. It will also help you control the gap in between the parts with much greater precision.

Even with all that treatment the seam will still be somewhat visible up-close.
Though I have not tried making putty out of Koto's ABS skintone parts.

Thanks for the tips, that's pretty much the same method, except the bit about trimming pegs, might give that a go. I might experiment with thinning the ABS cement with acetone or making some putty out of the skin tone sprues. Good to know I'm doing most of it right.
Its annoying cause some parts come together nicer than others, and regular styrene parts doesn't seem to have this problem at all.

I actually glued the seems on my Magatsuki Houten's thighs today just to do it myself again. I used Tamiya Extra Thin (with a couple of applications to the seem even after pressing it together. I used a glass file first just to see how mush it would do. After that, I gently scraped it with an knife blade, and used some sandpaper to finish it up.

With the way yours looks, I think it should clean up nicely with a little more work. Good luck!
