For me, it's Mech Wing Batman
For me, it's Lightning Strike Batman
For me, it's Street Strike Batman with Lightning Luge and Batarang (TM) Decoder
For me, it's Heat Scan Batman
For me it's assault gauntlet Batman
>>11131293>Chad assault gauntlet Batman
For me it's-AUGHHHHH
>>11131285The lasers are cool. How do they attach?
>>11130511I do miss the "only one" aspect of collecting. As a kid, I could choose one toy from the store, but I made sure to do in-store research what was practical. It had to be Spider-man, but which one was the best, most practical one? These days, not only can i choose, but it's not the same because ML's don't have gimmicks or a non-conventional/canon weapon anymore
For me, it's the Batman Returns Recycled Mold Penguin.
I always hated this shit. I wanted Batman/Spider-Man like how he looked in the show....but I did own this and a few others. the silver radar dish Batman. and that Bruce Wayne where you could clip the armor bits onto.
>>11131518That's a great way to explain this, and I agree.I can only get one toy. Yeah, I'm thinking it's gonna be space suit Cable.
>>11131860The closest I had for a regular looking Batman for the Batman Forever line was this one. The worst thing was his rubber cape that wouldn't make sit properly in his Batmobile or a chair like in the giant Batcave set.
>>11131605loved this nigga, but never understood why he looked nothing like danny devito
>>11131518for as much as it irked me at the time the beyond line had a few conventional enough terrys you could settle for. The translucent blue one, the electric red/blue versions, and even the one terry with the cape gimmick were all solid compromises if you couldnt find the one vanilla version. The more time passes the more I miss weird variants like this. There's a depressing lack of imagination in modern capeshit toylines. The few variants that do get made anymore tend to be repeats of past successes these days. That new hasbro spiderman line did a new translucent green venom, and for what it is its fun, but I know that was inspired outright by the 90s toybiz version of venom the madness. The spinmasters batman line started out strong but they're playing things safer and safer as it trots along. This new movie anniversary wave could be fun with some tie in media or a multiverse storyline for the toys, but its just this unimaginative "85 years of batman" deal.
>>11132051>The more time passes the more I miss weird variants like this. There's a depressing lack of imagination in modern capeshit toylines.Big reason I like that McFarlane Ghost of Lrypton Superman. Despite the edge of the design, he looks like a big dumb gimmick figure from the 90's.
>>11132108I agree. In all honesty however its his super powers line that has most of my attention these days. Im surprised he never thought to apply the DC license to RAW10.
>>11132035maybe they couldn't get the rights to the actors likenessor maybe it was just easier and cheaper to use an existing mold.
>>11132035>>11132145One reason I hear is because he was too scary. I recall there being a controversy with the McDonald's toys. So maybe they wanted to avoid scary Penguin, or just Kenner being Kenner and reusing old molds from 8 years ago. Also I don't think the Penguin really captures the likeness of Danny Devito.
For me, it's Iceblast Mr. Freeze, being the regular one looks lame as fuck.Actually I never saw the regular one until today and thought the Iceblast version was his regular action figure. I had him, he looked so... cool.
>>11132242For me, it was Ice Terror Mr Freeze because the blue and teal just pop. And he came with a sick little car.
>>11132236at least his co-horts were fucking epic
Got this when I was around 6 or 7. Back then I thought it was cool as fuck. IIRC, I had a hell of a time getting the rubber cape to stay on, so I kept the glider on most of the time.
For me, it's Flightpak Batman
>>11132261>And he came with a sick little car. They never made his ice truck. It could of had a neat action feature of the spikes popping out. Kenner did make a slot car version in a similar design.
>>11132420There was a white vehicle in the TAS line I think I always thought was supposed to belong to Mr Freeze because it had that kind of design but apparently it was just another Batman vehicle
>>11130511For me, it's Slalom Racer Batman
>>11132242I like the Japan exclusive two pack version, it's the same sculpt as the regular two pack but replaces the chrome with clear blue plastic.
>>11131484They clip onto his wrists
>>11132587based. he was always my favorite too>>11132604all the variant freezes kenner did always outshined their standard releases. I always think of Mission Masters Mr Freeze, that neon green and baby blue color scheme against the black is just so perfect.
For me, it's antifreeze Batman.
>>11132416This is so fucking tight
For me, it's Combat Belt Batman. Standard colors and spring launch weapons.
BAT-BUMP
>>11134114>GLOW IN THE DARK!
>>11131994>>11131860Somehow I think the closest I had to normal Batman as a kid was this lolipop holder. In my imagination, he was an elderly, disabled cyborg Batman from the future who lost his legs to Mr. Freeze or something. He functioned as the leader as the multi-dimensional Batman corps, guiding them in their quest for justice.
>>11131860Fugg I loved this stupid mother fucker. Made no sense but that borderline neon yellow was so cool
>>11131860>and that Bruce Wayne where you could clip the armor bits onto. There's a few Batman toys that bring back such strong nostalgia I cab remember the inside of my preschool or grade 1 or something. That Batman and this one. What's the best toy archive site? I keep getting ficking webps on google
I really liked Total Armor Batman. There's just something about figures with clip on pieces.
>>11132035Was it McDonald's that had a fit that the Returns stuff was too gross looking and then it just snowballed?
>>11130511I still have my Cyber Gear Batman somewhere. Must've lost the axe but still have the cape and leg upgrades
>>11134626Holy fuck, I had that and totally forgot all about it.Think the armour pieces got lost and forever wondered why I had a random purple batman.
Make way for the superior Arctic Batman.
>>11130798I just got an email from a store I shopped in about a new version and I want it so bad since this thread gave me a log of nostalgiad for toys I don't have. (I don't have any of my Batman toys from childhood.) But Ive never blught from Mcfarlane since I was a kid and they were statues, are these figures any good?>>11131518Im kinda doing this right now lol.
>>11131860>and that Bruce Wayne where you could clip the armor bits onto.Love this little nigga like u wouldn't believe.
>>11134626My favorite clip on armor figure is Neon Armor Batman. Cool black and transparent blue figure with bright ass neon green armor to go on top.
>>11135532kek, had to see what he looked like in the suit. very cool.
>>11135515Now with masturbating action!
Wish I still had all my old Batman figures
>>11135556I had the Robin for this. Some kid left it at church so it joined my collection. Most of the armor was already lost though.
>>11134626>with chinese throwing croissant!
>>11135556>Batman if he Morrowind Glass Armor>>11135558The mask is a bit big but the rest of the pieces fit well. It's a fun concept being able to "armor up" your action figure. All I had seen before was mostly stuff like Vintage GI Joe and Barbie, which were more clothing and uniform figures. Also I appreciate the cloth style cape instead of a solid molded cape. The belt piece was the first thing that broke down after extensive play. The way it buckles together just stretches the plastic over time until it wears out.
>>11135515That's kinda cool. Never seen a chromed out Batman.
>>11132282When's Todd gonna make these
I didn't know it was everyone but me is wrong time. my apologies
>>11134626The shield has a shield. That's hilarious.
Turbojet Batman was pretty great. I think this one got like two repaints.
>>11135799Wasn't this one of the few Batman variants that actually appeared in the cartoon
>>11135823He's used a jetpack but I don't think it was much like the toy with the helmet and stuff.
Air Attack Batman is a king among Batmans.
Hmmm don't recall Batgirl wearing this in the comics
>>11135460"They said I could be anything, so I became Mr.Freeze"
>>11135934still overdressed
>>11135492they're not mcfarlane originals. DCC was responsible for all these BTAS/DCAU molds and Todd's started to reissue them ever since he resuscitated DCC's corpse. I wish they were good but they range from mediocre to plain dogshit. The newest rerelease of Terry is modelled after the Future Knight variant from the original hasbro line. I would have jumped at the chance to buy that had the figure actually been designed well.
bump. I live for vintage batman threads. some questions for the thread.>have you heard the good word of funskool?>how did you feel about the kenner suit cameos in the flash (2023)?>best villain action figures?>what kenner batman line do you wish lasted longer?
I like McFarlane stuff in that it reminds me of wacky Batman variants like this.
>>11138358>>how did you feel about the kenner suit cameos in the flash (2023)?Wish we saw more of them. The Flash director is doing the new Batman Brave and the Bold movie so maybe he'll include them
Still the abosulte GOAT. only thing that comes close is the kenner 100 batman>>11132416i play with this dude so much all his limbs became linp and noodling and he'd just calapse every time you tried to stand him
hello fellow old action figures what is up. am i cool too
>>11138907i love how slightly off the colors on this guy are. makes the whole figure look that much crazier.
>>11138907Same mold
Had this Robin as a kid, think I just got it at a garage sale. Didn't even know he was supposed to be Robin
>>11132236>One reason I hear is because he was too scary.I can absolutely see this being the case. He scared the shit out of me when I was a wee lad.>>11130511I still have this Batman lying around somewhere. Was the closet thing to having a regular TAS style Batman.
>>11131860>>11131994>>11134226If it wasn't for McDonald's, I would have never had just a plain BTAS Batman figure. I treasured that thing as a kid.
>>11139037the one i had has suspicious burns marks on his legs like some one tied him to a rocket
For me, it's Tec-Shield Batman
>>11135556>those eyes
>>11139055yeah the kilmer sculpt always had beady dead eyes for some reason and it really detracted from most figures for me. also his head doesnt have a neck really if you look at most of the figures the neck part on on the torso itself which is probably why kenner never reused forever molds afterwords theyd have to make a whole new head that would only work on those bodies.
>>11139374What backdrop is that?
lousy fish-birds attack every couple centuries. I, for one, blame the Nubians!
>>11139407thank you for the OC anon I love it. saved!
>>11138903I'm still after the black version of this.I think it's still the only Kelley Jones Batman figure we've ever had.
maybe they have it in the works but I really expected this new 85th anniversary line to all in on the silly variants angle. Sure we can pay homage to the movies and focus on standard movie accurate versions of the characters for awhile, but the line feels a little bland as a result. You'd think they would have atleast done some KeatonBat variants out of the gate. Likewise I was hoping to see them homage the mattel 4 inch balebat variations. Especially since they have a bane mold anyways.Given the ubiquity of the multiverse meme across various different franchises I was expecting to see spinmasters make use of it in this line just as a means to get all these batmen and their respective rogues to team up against each other. Just thinking it over now they could have retooled one of the movie batmobile molds they have into somekind of universe hopping delorean just to shake things up a little.
"It could be Warner imposing those restrictions, but adding some craziness could attract kids and collectors alike. After Schwarzenegger and DeVito's Batman gag at the Oscars, many online imagined their versions of Freeze and Penguin teaming up. I drew pic related to highlight the potential of that idea. What if Freeze abandons his original suit to save a dying Oswald, then dons a new suit or cybernetic body based on tech stolen from another universe?"

>>11140536unlimited felt like the last attempt crazy attempt at a kid's batman toyline. i like spjnmasters well enough but alot of their batman stuff feels a little restrained by comparison. that bat-tech line was their best yet. anyways sorry for interrupting vintage batman talk. is knight force ninjas cool yet?
>>11140405Penguin and Mr Freeze seems like such an obvious teamup I'm surprised it hasn't been attempted
>>11140557Mr. Freeze needs diamonds to power his suit. Penguin likes them for their value. If anything, they would be at odds.
>>11140549stop embarrassing yourself. pic related is the true final kids toyline. no bullshit redesigns, just batman being batman
>>11140659just realized my wording was wrong meant to say no bullshit art-style
>>11140549just the azrael figure
>>11140659its depressing knowing DCSH was so long ago that a figure that poseable sold under 10 bucks
>>11140662the art style is fun. there's room for both. the kenner stuff all had its own aesthetic too.>>11140557thats what I thought at the time too. feels like such an obvious toyline idea.
>>11140676its not fun its ugly>but its for kidsthe line died because no one bought these including kids. the kids want BATMAN, not DISNEYS BATMAN

>>11140724ENTER
>>11140697>the world's only World of Batman fani kneel
>>11140680point me to another batman line that not only had tie in animated films but made a whole subseries of kaiju bat rogues with superhero mechs that even fit little pilots inside of them and maybe i'll see your point. unlimited isnt the best kid's line, but its definitely one of the most fun. better than BATB's toyline atleast.
>>11140827unlimited is just "the batman" but worse in every conceivable way. dont like that line either but id at least have some respect if you were talking about that line
>>11140674its funny you say DCSH but trhis dude was released just before that making him apart of mattels batman line.

this literally would have been the best de facto batman if they just have him a normal bat head>>11144237i had this one and the black and red variant. love the hadsculpt on him and the charcol grey on his suit.
>>11142169my family had so many of these things collected up when I was a kid

>>11144876did any of them survive the inetivable purging?>>11144622if you could pick and choose the perfect head for that body, which other vintage kenner figure would you go for?
the mighty minis were underrated and I miss them
>>11145347if somehow they'd also magically have no color/scaling issues id pick the man of steel mail away exclusive batman or anything from the legends of the dark knight line. im sure theres an even better one there im forgetting though
>>11145351>>11140536
>>11145374>opaque to translucent plastic this is such a god tier gimmick that never gets utilized anymore. it's always fucking cool when implemented too. same with plastics imbued with sparkly glitter flakes or plastics that shift in colors.
>>11132416>>11134393>>11135515Legends of Batman Is the best vintage Batman line. Cool, weird, toyetic designs executed well. Sometimes I missed the creativity of his line. I'm not saying its perfect. Not enough villains and some of the Batmen couldn't fit properly into vehicles. But its was really fun.
>>11145508Agreed on the villains. It also frustrates me endlessly that the pirate Joker has a much nicer head sculpt than the regular one.
>>11135515i think i used that cape on every batman i owned for at least a decade

>>11135516>>11146184these two are reminding me of the weird little winged thing that came out of the BTAS Batmobile
So we're talking favorite vehicles now?
>>11131518For me, practical meant the one with the most amount of articulation with the least amount of gear gimmicks that could mess with said articulation. Young me would have slobbered over today's BTAS/ML line.
I remember in the run-up to Dark Knight coming out, with all the dourness it promised, someone in /co/ pulled out a picture of Fusion Force Batman with his Fuck You Glove and Tenement Demolishing Missile Launcher and everybody just started having a great time.
>>11146655Yeh, kids nowadays don't know how good they have it in regards to cheap budget figures.

>>11147311content as I've been with spinmasters' output I'd still like to see todd get the full toy rights from spinmasters eventually. his handling of the super powers line has proven to me he's more than capable of getting a vintage kenner batman line right. Im honestly surprised he hasnt already taken a turn in that direction already. if he were to go ahead with an idea like that, would you guys rather see him stick to the 5 to 8 poa articulation scheme or do something akin to MOTU origins instead? Also worth mentioning, Im surprised he never made DC × RAW10 figures. The exaggerated sculpts on those guys is exactly the kind of chaotic energy you'd need for a new TLOTDK styled line.
>>11148514Even as a kid I was extremely disappointed with 5poa. Give me elbows at least.

>>11152690Man this goes to show what a blind spot the B&R line still is for me. It's crazy to see this level of articulation on a kenner sculpt. Thanks for mentioning it anon.>>11152694Slalom Batman had a similar neck joint for whatever reason. All of these points are just spurring on my desire to see a posable kenner bats. I know spinmasters is doing his 85th anniversary line now. Seems like such a wasted opportunity not to release something along these lines alongside the movie anniversary product.
>>11152883yeah its a pipe dream, DC/warner is probably thinking we already have a superpowers line and a few throwback figures why bother with another 90s themed thing. ive contiplated doing the same thing a couple times too but i just dont have enough figures im willing to sacrafice for such experiments
