>>11137411God the Jada monsters look like kino compared to the NECA shit.
>>11137749Nah, you're wrong.
>>11137410The new halloween themed dino masher series (forgot their brand name) are cool. I hope they make more minifigures.
I love this guy, he's great. My go to swamp monster.
>>11137749Yep, you're right.
>>11137749Who is neca
>>11138002Nope, he's wrong
>>11138376a bootleg line of toys
>>11139205What an incredibly stupid and wrong thing to say
Yeah, pretty disappointing Jada lost the Monsters. Neca are good, but they’re all to big for my tastes, and I feel like I’ve already missed some. I may try to get their Mummy, so we’ll see.
The Mummy had cool toys
>>11139469Basedhausen
>>11140265That looks great. I wish I could go back to the early 00's and just work at Toys R Us so bad. I would cherish every beast machines toy on deep discount.
>>11139469>the Wolfman's kneesThose double joints will always bug me and I'm sick of one of them always being stuck. They never look good and I never want to fully bend the legs on these figures.
<3
>>11137412>>11137421>>11142492Glow in the dark skeletons should be more common.
>>11143511Which one is this anon?
>>11143835NtA, but KT Project KT-033 Takeya Style Jizai Okimono Pursuit Gladiator Glow-in-the-Dark Edition. Comes in Secutor and Mirmillone varieties.
>>11142492I really love the skin over the skeleton; I wish it were more articulated, but this seems to be the extent of what they can do (and this was pushing the limits).maybe a model kit could do it?
I just got these from big bad and they're fucking awesome. I love the guts falling out of them. Top tier halloween toys.
This used to be one of my fave sets I bought two to fill in the farm. Long since taken it down.
>>11144421Won't like, I kinda wanna grab the parts from eBay and toss them on my other Golden Axe skeleton.
>>11144687god i miss mega
>>11140281same here anon. i feel your pain.
>>11139469jada's creature was the peak of their run, so atleast they started off on the right foot. I know alot of /toy/ soldiers complain about those joints, but at the very least they're a step up from the toy island figures from yesteryear. you may not realize it but universal monsters fans are spoiled for choice these days between jada, neca, mezco, and mego.
Is this spooky enough?
>>11143835The other anon answered the question, if you like articulation this skellie is the go to, he's like 50 bucks on BBTS.No idea about the quality though, I heard Revoltech skeletons tend to have loose joints after years pass.
Yes I like Rob Zombie movies and I also want a figure of that nazi midget from 31 please
how about some mad scientist
>>11145428Can confirm the jizai skeletons get loose & drop limbs. Not sure if the GitD plastic would be better or worse for long-term durability, though.
>>11145727Ah, true, I've read tons of times that gitd plastic is more prone to breakage, but so far nothing has happened to my stuff. But I don't know how the Jizai Okimono skeleton would fare, wish there were reviews of the guy, there's barely any pics on him that is not a market site.Btw, do you know if te bones are durable? I get that he's a skeleton but the Jizai's legs look really thin.
>>11145879I've never broken any of the actual bones on any of mine.
>>11145885The Okimono ones? I Guess I will get one, not this year though.
how about a horror head?
>>11144118I wonder how many toys are there with this gimmick (?). I mean a translucent figure with the skeleton inside. The other one that comes to mind is Blight from Batman Beyond.
>>11145909Yeah. If u just want a cool GitD gladiator skeleton to hang out with other GitD toys u can't go wrong. If you want to do a lot of playing with it you may do better with the Fwoosh Bone Brawler.
>>11146229Good advice
>>11142492>>11144118Reminds me of the Revenant from D00M 3. Man what I wouldn’t do for a quality id-games monsters toyline.
>>11146213these little moto cross figures have more skeleton and more articulation than Blight>>11146485I hadn't seen the concept art with the body outline beforethere are a couple anime girl figures with clear prosthetic limbs, and some statues...I guess its too hard to do at a cost-effective scale.
>>11146592I wonder if there are any spooky mecha models? they sometimes have an inner skeleton that the armor attaches to, it wouldn't be too hard to make the skeleton look anatomical, and have clear pop-on "skin" instead of big armor plates...
>>11146213Not horror, but the first that came to mind was figma Crystal Bowie
i would highly encourage everyone to visit CVS and Walmart right now. the SPOOK aisles are rife with everything from squishy pumpkins to 7 inch skeletons
>>11146756God fucking damn, why do I realize now this thing exists? Granted, I don't lurk on the Figma threads that much. Damn this thing is pure sex, my complain is the lack of skull, but that's just my taste.
Big Frank
You don't get much more Halloween-ey than Beetlejuice.
>>11149744ever since I saw the new movie I've been left to wonder what a modern beetlejuice toyline would need to garner success with collectors and kids alike. the easy answer is the lanard route (bright colors, 12 POA for basic action poses, tons of variants) but I'd also want the line to feature as many netherworld denizens as possible too. the new movie really came up with some fun new characters.
as fun as it has been to see the universal monsters getting more merch now than ever before I find myself wishing for more generic monster figures. its comparable to modern dinosaur toys vs chinasaurs. sure all the accuracy is great and all but we've lost something along the way
>>11149744it's made of cake? what is all that shitty texture?>>11149951haha yeah, imagine
>>11150452>shitty textureYou mean the texture that the clothing has in the movie? The texture that Michael Keaton has in makeup? Get your fucking eyes checked.
>>11149625This one reminds me to an electronic Frankie I got as a kid, it was covered in felt or something>>11150452>shitty textureI agree, looks like shit, just zoomers who never watched the film will pretend it's accurate
>>11150615Thank you for admitting you've never watched the movie before. You have literally no reason to be here.
>>11137411Are there any Frankenstein's monster figures that are more book-based and less Universal? Long hair, less greenish skin, etc?
>>11150690so...you want him to be beautiful with yellow eyes? and I think his skin was also really pale.like you could see his muscles through his skin. But I do remember specifically that Victor describes the creature as having beautiful features
>>11150696Holy fuck, you're actually insane! Yes, the color is correct, and yes, it has that texture. Are you watching a wore out VHS tape you mouthy child?
>>11149625that's so cute!
>>11150725Thanks for admitting you were wrong dude. That's very big of you.
>>11150452no seriously what would a modern beetlejuice kids line look like? im well aware of the kenner stuff, but its still the only attempt made to market beetlejuice to kids.
>>11150690most are variations of universal's basic design. every so often you'll see some unique departures like the taco bell creature cryptz frankenstein or the two weird mcfarlane ones, but more often than not it will always be plays off the karloff look.
>>11150709NTA but at this point why not? I'd like to see some other frankenstein designs in toy form too while we're at it. The monster's been so drastically redesigned over the years the concept itself could float a whole toyline on its own. the various hammer frankenstein monsters, frankenstein 1970s, frankenstein vs the space monster, the toho frankensteins/gargantuas, etc. Thats without even getting into the various comic frankensteins. FWIW I'd love to see dracula get the same treatment.
>>11150709I think it could work for a figure; translucent, yellowy tight skin, yellowed eyes, blackened lips, notably white teeth. Aside from a few details being off (like the lips), the Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein museum has a nicely accurate animatronic.>>11150784A shame, I think it would sell well. I know I'd buy a few.
>>11150690there was a 12" 3zero figure for a fairly recent non-Universal version. I bought it to go with my other monsters, I dislike the rubber skin
>>11146756Wouldn't look out of place on a shelf filled with horror toys
>>11137410Can't wait for October, I had all these out for display last year and took quite a few pictures, I've gotten more horror stuff since then so it'll be fun.
>>11151301>GITD Gillman rocking a pair of shades and a hawaiian shirtK I N O
>>11151520This. Nostalgic as fuck.
The best Halloween toy.
>>11150709>>11150791>>11150812Behold, the Frankenstein's monster!
>>11151520>>11151555People always love vacation creech, even irl visitors gotta make sure to take more pictures of him next month.
>>11151958honestly makes me wish the JADA line lasted long enough to crank out some more fun kitschy variations of the main four before covering the final batch of classics like Phantom, Metaluna Mutant, etc. In an ideal world they could have used the Universal Monsters branding to get out some more obscure favorites and unrelated PD creeps like say the Molemen or even Ro-man. Back to my earlier point they missed a major opportunity to do pepsi party animal variants of the main four monsters!
>>11151809I'm more of a Franken Fran guy myself.>2k24>still no franken fan merch
>>11146213Not exactly a horror-themed toy, but Monev the Gale from Trigun fits that gimmick. Kaiyodo made 3 versions of the character, one of them being translucent with a "skeleton" inside that glew in the dark.
>>11154981This is the gitd gimmick, I think it's really neat.
>>11154981>>11154989yeah, I picked one up off ebay but the vinyl was sticky and the joints didn't have much motion (as was the style at the time).maybe I should get him back out and try to clean him up
>>11155712>vinylWait, so that means the figure is fragile? I expected his plastic to be PVC like other Kaiyodo stuff.
>>11151301That Dr. Loomis figure is amazing
Love me some old school ghostbusters
Not really a Hot Wheels person, but I can appreciate them going all out on packaging like this.
>>11156603Which store was this at? None of my grocers have them yet
>>11156336>skeletor looking on as bone ghost fiddles with brain ghost's noodlekek
>>11156608Local chain called Crest.
>>11155983maybe vinyl isn't the right term, but it was gross to touch the way rubberized electronics can get after a while. I got the regular version in the same lot (both partially broken/missing bullets) and it felt the same way. I don't know if new ones would be like that, or if they were exposed to something
>>11157982Interesting, I just bought a sealed Sub-Zero Monev and should be coming home in a matter of days. Based on pics of other figures, it seems that the arms can be broken (not sure if it's just hamhands or if Monev has that issue). The bullets being lost is no surprise. I say this because the usual Kaiyodo stuff is made of PVC? Please excuse my retardation, I really don't know how to describe the material, it's solid but rather "gummy" to the touch. And I expected this fella to be the same, since an anon in the Revoltech thread said he's not hollow.
>>11158151its probably that, I don't know plastic types very well. I hope yours isn't sticky the way mine was.I passed on a lot of ebay auctions with broken internal skeletons, and once I got it in hand I could see that there are a lot of limited range joints - so a pose may be possible, but not without several small adjustments. a little too much force (when frustrated, knowing it can do a certain pose) could easily break it.
>>11160912Taking into account what you and the other anon said, it seems like that stickiness is a Monev problem, given the shiny-looking armor the figure has. >I passed on a lot of ebay auctions with broken internal skeletonsNow this caught my attention, you mean the translucent version right? Once I get that fucker I'll see if he needs a delicate treatment or not. The only way I think the internal body can be broken is if somebody just threw it with force.>and once I got it in hand I could see that there are a lot of limited range jointsAh yes, the anon I mentioned before said that, despite the figure's limitations, it can strike some really cool poses. But then again, the swivel cuts here and there can only take you so far. >a little too much force (when frustrated, knowing it can do a certain pose) could easily break it.Well shit, I just saw an ebay pic where the hands were broken too, and the right foot also might have that problem. Oh well, I'm not exactly a hamhands but my toys get some rough love, I guess I will be rather careful with Monev. Btw, here are some of the pics the other anon posted. A crying shame the character barely has reviews about articulation. Or even pics in that matter. >>11139476>>11139490
the frankenstein toy talks died down but pic related just got shown off and I thought it was amazing. perfect execution of a book accurate monster. i dont have much experience with 4HM outside of MOTU but the few figure obscura releases they've put out always knock my socks off.
