Just watched War in the Pocket. It was okay. Those who pushed it to me as the "best stand alone Gundam story" need slapped very hard.
>>11144486It is very overhyped for sure. The Zeon designs are neat though.
>>11144486>War in the Pocket.>best stand alone Gundam storyOnly ever heard people say that about 08th.Thunderbolt is better than War in the Pocket.
>>11144591>thunderbolt>wacky space cult is behind everythingnah
>>11144380I really like these but the armor makes it look like they have dicks.
>>11144650Sadly it doesn't, Bandai is to much of a fag to ever give us something like that.
>>11144591>ThunderboltFuck that literal noise, the soundtrack makes it unwatchable.
>>11144486I bet you like Turn-A or SEED Kek
>>11144685Homie I've never touched Seed and I can't remember what happened in Turn_A
>>11144685Turn A is pretty soul until they go to space, which fittingly is the first use of CGI in the franchise
>ThunderboltI don't know how the anime is or even how the manga progresses after volume 1 but this page is a big reason for me starting gunpla as a hobby. But I do probably have very bad taste because>Gundam Winglove it, always. I often hear that Gundam fans don't like it that much.>witch from MercuryHad a lot of fun with it but the fights were too short.>Mobile Suit Gundam F91Loved the opening scene (the invasion), the music and the visuals but it drops a lot of potential when the plot just stops and runs circles for an hour before the final happens.>Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS TeamPeople told me it was one of the best gundam media but I really did not like it. The music was great but that 9/10 character ended up being comedic relief characters (whos comedy didn't do anything for me) ruined the show for me.
>>11144674>He can't handle a bit of jazz
>>11144674Fucking zoomer
>>11144486It has the best story but if you want to see giant robots shoot each other you better watch 0083
>>11144380Oh hey, you used my Acerby. Neat.
I've build pic related yesterday. The build was easy and fun. Head, body and waiste did not have any nob marks but shoulders, arms and legs ended up with some. Panel lining the "chain whip" wasn't nice and bending it isn't that nice either. Biggest problem is the non existing articulation in the body and ancles. I planed to pose him like in pos.1 but this is so instable that he falls over if someone sneezes across the street. Now I've posed him like pos. 2 and he is stable but I'm a bit sad because it doesn't highlight his special weapons (whip and gun fingers). But the spiked shoulder pauldrons and the pig snout still rock.
>>11145005>>11145398Fuck off it's garbage and you know it>ZoomerSure if you say so
>>11145726you could get a cheap stand
>>11145726Put a tiny bit of sticky putty or blue tack under his left foot if you can't get pos.1 to work. I've found for poses like that you are really relying on the torso weight to keep the foot flat which takes a lot of fiddling with the angles. I prefer the whip to the Gouf Custom grappling hook which is just a thin plastic wire that "remembers" every slight bend.
>>11144486>the "best stand alone Gundam story"0080 isn't great, but this statement is still true.
A bit off topic but how is Gundam 00? I like the designs.
>>11145786i dropped it faster than gundam seed
>>11145794It does start extremely slow. Second season is more pew pew.
>>11145786kenji kawai OST always get me hyped.
>>11144674tasteless faggot
>>11145869GARBAGE.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrLvoyFpLGc
>>1114578600 is like every Gundam spinoff: good first season, ass second season, and overall you're better off just watching a different show than "Gundam but X"
>>11145786It has some similarity to Wing, but executed better. The characters are all very cardboard but it has good action and designs.
>>11145872Not liking jazz is the most surefire sign of being a disgusting little underage cum sock
>>11145786It's as worth watching as any other Gundam series really. I actually kind of don't like the designs of the main gundams in 00, something about the thinness and the angles. I'm a big fan of the Tieren, and the Anf though so.>>11145914 >good first season, ass second seasonThis does keep being the case. it also feels like season 2 just rewrote half the characters. Also I'm gonna go ahead and say that people overly hate on Seed.
>>11146001Sure.
>>11144674Agreed>>11145398You are the zoomer who likes that shit show
>>11146064Didn't say anything about the quality of the show, just that the music is good (objectively true)
is it a bad idea to store kits close to a window?the window is closed of course, but would the cold fuck things up and stuff?i am talking unassembled models in boxes right beside a window.
>>11146370Plastics and paint don't do well with UV.Are the temperature fluctuations big? the daily heating/cooling will cause paint and stickers to peel.
I've ordered the HG Wing Gundam Zero, now I only miss the HG Sandrock. I hope he will be back in stock at some point.
>>11144381greetings from the spooky skeletons thread. we've been talking about how to do a visible skeleton inside a clear shell...>>11146633are there articulated anatomical robot model kits?
>>11145726Bandai did us a solid by giving us a closed fist for his fap hand, they didn't have to do that
Any opinions on this gunpla?
>>11146400no i mean just the boxes with runners, unopened onesthe box should be enough to protect them? plus the bags they are in?
>>11147052It's not great. The wings pop off very easily.
>>11147060Is it really that bad? Do you mean the wings as in the whole backpack or the tiny feathers? Does it pop off by themself or when you touch/pose it? I would just pose him once and then leave it as the center piece of my gundam wing shelve.
>>11147054Spiders may work their way in and build the plamo before you do
>>11147052Get the MG instead.
>>11146461>HG Wing Gundam ZeroWord of warning, the arms pop out very easily with that one.
>>11147124no that wouldn't fit at all.
>>11147074The whole backpack. It's heavier than the main figure too. The frame itself is also a floppy mess. I was very disappointed by it.
>>11145740Hope you improve in taste soon mate
>>11147054The box will get damaged by the sun if you care about that.
>>11147825I ain't your mate, pal
>>11147054No, the sun will permeate the box and denature the plastic, especially yellow plastic.
>>11147742>>11147060I've never had any problems with my rg wing zero, it's solid as a rock and the backpack holds poses just fine. How old is yours, mine is a first release, it could be mold degradation.>>11147125Also never had much of a problem with my tv zero, my standard hg wing and flame ferder though definitely do suffer from this.
>>11145914>>11146007Wouldn't say 00's second season is ass necessarily... it's definitely got a drop in quality, but It's lows are still highs compared to some other gundam moments.I understand why some people prefer the s1 MS design, but you can't tell me that Exia R2 isn't a massive upgrade.
okay so you all say no wing zero EZ, then I will order both the Zoworts instead while I still have the chance.
>>11147899I can't tell if you're joking or not. A lot of my backlog kits are stored by a window because it's the only free storage space I have right now. I keep the blinds closed, but a lot of heat still radiates in that area.
Got these lads in today
>>11148482Good choices bro.
Ordered some sets off aliexpress, jim spartan was the first to arrive, its pretty gud but some of the polycaps dont fit easily into the plastic and need a bit of work. I like that it kinda matches my full armor rx78.
Bought one of these at the gundam base tour without thinking it through. What's the best way to deal with nubs on clear parts and the touch-gates?
>>11149275Glass file and water.
>>11147052If you get that one, be VERY careful. Some of the parts come preassembled and are fragile until you assemble them. Best word of advice is to make sure when you twist anything to assemble it, you do not hold either side of the joint too far apart. That's how you wait 6-8 weeks for a replacement part. The bottom set of wings need some top coat applied to cylinder that connects them, to keep them from falling. Otherwise, I like the model.
I've seen a video where the Gundam Marker EX Chrome was used behind clear (like visors) parts to make them look better/ catch the light more. Now when I search for that marker there is non called "chrome" only plated Silver and Shining silver. Anyone here using them which of them would be the right one?
>>11149902Molotow might be easier to find. I know Hobby Lobby has it if you want one right now.
Does anyone have one of these 30MM kits? Are they any good?
>>11149910thank you
>>11149489What is it with this Gundam? I've watched 5 reviews of this kit now and non talked about any of the problems mentioned here but the comments are full with people talking about that stuff. Feels like it's a real lottery, you either get a perfect kit or you can just throw it away.
Are joints loosing over time a problem with these kits?
>>11150031It can be depending on the kit and how much you repose them, but generally it's not an issue. Older kits or heavier limbs are more susceptible. If it really becomes a problem then fixes are easy.
Does anyone know if these girls (>>11144380) can handle the gatling? I know that it will fit in general because it's all 30mm but I'm not so sure if the girls have the arm's reach necessary for it.
You know, it looks better than I thought it would in gunmetal blue. Now I just need to get some scraps and get that head right.
Do you use sanding on every part?
>>11151453Nah.For example if you have an internal partthat you'll never see when it's done, why sand it if it fits perfectly fine anyway? You just need to sand the parts you see.
>>11151181Looks sick homie. I did my Tallgeese in TV anime colours.
>>11151672what happened to that face mask?
>>11153036Paint went a bit apeshit at that point.
>>11149375nta but does water really help those?
>>11153309Certainly does. Even with normal plastic. Keep in mind it wont fix stress marks from cutting too close. The water acts as a lubricant and reduces friction a bit.
>>11153768>Keep in mind it wont fix stress marks from cutting too close.nta, why not? I thought that is one of the main reasons why you even do sanding.
>>11153934Only thing that can fix that is paint, really. You need some nub to grind down.
Hey Plamo, maybe you can help me. I recall an old gundam model kit I had that was basically a greyish blue ball with a red trim around the mono eye lens and claw like arms.Any idea what the name of that model might be and what recent versions are available?
>>11154030Rb 79 ball? Capule?
>>11154030
>>11154035>>11154038YES! Thank you so much anons!
>>11154048Np. There is also a master grade, larger version, more detailed version, a ver ka mg with extra arms. The hg is cool but the pincers dont actually close.m, but you do get 2 balls for about $15 and thats a steal.
>>11153934You are misunderstanding the problem. Sanding is a preventative measure, you are supposed to snip far away from the part then sand the remaining nub down to nothing. If you snip close to the part, it will likely stress the plastic, and then you're way past the preventative stage, you need to start looking into fixes at that point.
>>11153934As others said, the stress on the plastic is it being stretched and torn. You can't sand that away. Well okay you can sand it away but there won't be much left at that point.Personally I find that even when using god hands or a hobby knife to remove the remaining nub I end up with a stress mark directly where it was. Sanding the remainder down is really the best if you aren't painting.
>>11154461This is correct, but I am a lazy modeler, godhand snip and buffing with my fingernail is good enough for me.
Anyone got their hands on the new knight kits already?
>>11149210rest of my order arrived, GM and Zaku half cannon, thanks china post
Built a thing for the groupbuild. I'm not confident that I'll get the whole thing to work properly as per my original vision, but this is probably one of the more complicated parts that I just barely managed to make work without having to build parts from scratch. One of the pieces snapped shortly after taking the pictures, but I think I have a way to fix and reinforce it that won't require mad scratchbuilding skills.
>>11159494Very neat anon, loving the look of this so far. Looking forward to losing to you!
>>11159393you probably paid like a dollar for shipping, the fuck you expect? The red carpet treatment?
>>11159494This looks like a canceled boss from a PS1 3D shmup. I'm specifically thinking Einhander.
>>11159393Are the parts broken?
>>11159393That sucks. Hopefully nothing inside is broken, personally though I like to keep the front box art.
>>11159393That happened to me with the Gundam Base Thunderbolt and Psycho Zaku from P Bandai a few months back, luckily the box was the only damage and the parts were all fine.
>>11160143I sold 2 kits and shipped them. Usps smashed the box pretty bad. Buyer was pissed at me. Like I used a good box and put some padding in to keep it from shufting around. Not much I can do about usps driving forklifts on boxes.
>>11160216China post is way worse than USPS tho but it's likely due to how much farther the packages travel. My China post stuff always comes smashed up like that it's pretty much expected.
>>11160284I've ordered stuff from England, Denmark, Peru, Russia and Ukraine that came dirty, but never banged up or dented. All my chinese boxes have come smashed.I've had a ton of Amazon packages come in just as bad conditions, but i do order more shit from them and returns/refunds are near instant. Amazon is by far the worst delivery service in the US. USPS > FedEx > UPS > Amazon.
Did Hemoxian do any more kits after the Thor one?
>>11161119i can't tell, arr rook arike 2 watashihttps://weibo.com/u/7772681952
Considering topcoating some of the kits I got (Never done before).I don't paint much, but I'll ask anyways.I can find Mr.Hobby matte spray here, is the premium upgrade worth it or will a few extra layers get the same result? I know I'll already have to postpone spraying anyways, as the moisture's too high here.Said spray is all good with waterdecals/stickers/gundam markers/tamiya paint? Read something about some coats not mixing well some time ago.How well does it hide nubmarks? Some I got are the glossy/darker kind with a faint lighter edge around them. Will sanding down more and spraying be enough to hide the new scratches from it?I'll probably try it out first on a cheap kit anyways I guess, just don't want to waste the money as hobby supplies are a bit pricey to get here.
>>11161183You don't want or need to do more than one coat. You should practice on something else first if this is your first time. Your are aiming for a coat wet enough to meld into one smooth continuous layer, but not so wet that it pools or gets thick and drippy. Spray in short bursts from around 10-12" away.Yes, price matters, better topcoat will be more matte. Matte topcoat quality is judged by how little light it reflects. Mr. Hobby is generally considered to be one of the best (it is the best in my book).
Do you think a gold color would work here for panel lining?
>>11161489yes
Made a thing for the modelling desk out of a microphone stand, a 160W UV lamp and some nuts and bolts lying around. Instant putty curing and all that.
>>11162632neat.
>>11162632This is the type of shit I expect to see from a high-tier modeler such as yourself. Cool shit.
bros i need to glue some small parts togetherthe parts are abs, which type of glue can i use?
>>11163329Post pic of part.
>>11161805hm okay but here the major part of the armour is white and not metal/grey
>>11163896it'll probably look even MORE fire because of that. pick a good shade of gold that matches the plastic well, and the panel lines will appear to just be a part of the gold, like an underlayer showing through the gaps in the white.
>>11162632do you have 18 nippers? that looks like a lot of nippers. why would you need that many?
>>11163329Super glue or 2 part epoxy very carefully, tamiya also sell ABS plastic cement but you probably already have some super glue
>>11163916>18Most of them are pliers and cutters of different type. There are only 4 that are actual straight nippers, 2 are for rough cuts and 2 are for fine cuts.
People on Twitter are already posting custom jobs, and HLJ hasn't even given me a message over whether or not they're going to fulfill my order
>>11164132I'm sorry anon, you're stuck with me in backorder hell.
>>11164150Do we at least know that there will be reprints? Or should we try our luck with other stores? HLJ is kind of unique in that they don't charge your card on pre-order, the other places I shop from don't do that so I don't want to make an order from, for example, USAGS if HLJ is going to get new stock first
>>11164132>date of release passed>it has picrel now instead of either Order Stop or Sep ReleaseThey got their shipment in, you didn't order early enough. You have a backorder for the inevitable rerun in 3 months now.
>>11164132oh god i was planning to skip these but this kind of looks fucking cool
>>11164132>>11164150>>11164193Is HLJ just purposely holding onto stock because of the weak yen or something? Their stock is way poorer than it used to be and everywhere else seems to be getting better.
>Order from Bandai finally comes after multiple delays>Box art isn't washed outPremium Scamdai indeed.
>>11164511Does feel like they get little stock. Had a lot of plamo that I ordered early end up being pushed to backorder. Then once said backorder stock is in, they have enough to hold until a sale to discount them...
>>11164600Not to be conspiratorial but if often feels like when I give up and ship one or two items they suddenly have more ready for me the next day. And they have no method to cancel or add things to the shipment even if they haven't begun processing them yet.
>>11164511>>11164600Fucking this, everybody shits on BBTS but I swear HLJ is the most deserving of scorn. Nothing in stock and ALWAYS backordered.
>>11164606I still find it stupid that they apparently never enforced their warehouse timelimit.I always put together a shipment within the 60 days limit, meanwhile others had items for years in theirs.......And then they fucking e-mail me to beg and ship my items the hour after I placed an order.
>>11164611I have a single item in my warehouse, it's been in there, alone, for 11 months now. The emails don't mean anything, just automated messages they never disabled because it still get's people to ship.
>>11164611They were too generous and should of refunded everybody and canceled the orders if they really wanted to fix the problem.
>>11164615Or go with the middleman approach: If you don't ship it asap, they'll keep the item and your money.
>>11164626That would be the evil route not middleman.
>>11164511Maybe it has to do with the "Japanese buyers are telling Bandai to label this storefront as a foreign seller because they're middleman-ing for non-Japanese buyers" thing I read about either here or on /m/. I think Surugaya and Mandarake are having the same problem.
>>11164628Some middleman services actually do it.
>>11164193>>11164511This feels like a scam.
>>11164885They haven't taken any money yet and you can cancel the orders. They also don't really make any promises other than in might be fulfilled in the future. It just sucks. What is kind of a scam is it being difficult to get refunds on things in the warehouse because you don't want to ship a single item. I wish they'd go through with what their emails say and wipe your warehouse after 90 days.
>>11164511Their stock is no different, this is a brand new line based on a big IP. Every Bandai item sells out super fast & Bandai provides no concrete number of units they will be allocated beforehand.>>11164611>they never enforce their time limitThey do, it's just not 60 days anymore and you only have yourself to blame for not reading any of the policy updates. It was unlimited due to Covid for years but now it is 6 months.>>11164885Only if you are retarded. A scam would make them money. They don't get anything until you get the item. USAGS is more of a scam b/c they allow more pre-orders than they will get stock then fulfill them all over years of restocks.
>>11164630That was pure "Source: My Ass" conspiracy theory nonsense.
>>11164193I have heard that HLJ will fulfill all their domestic orders first before fulfilling international orders
Why did no one tell me how cool blacklights are?
>>11165157Damn bro you are a true marksman with that cum hose of yours.
>>11165188Yep.The reason my acerby-b's eyes glow isn't the material. I just came into her sockets.
Am I just blind this morning, I thought the guide used to have a top coat section. I grabbed some Mr SuperClear Matte but now I'm second guessing myself on if I should have gotten a different one.
>>11166010What is your issue with it? Its pretty good stuff, maybe tamiya matte is better but pretty close.
>>11166399Seeing a lot of people saying they are using a "flat" coat. Maybe my English is just off and that is the Matte?
>>11166408Flat is technically an even duller finish than matte but a lot of people don't care to differentiate and the it's not that large a difference in gloss anyway.
I bought this set because a lot of people were complaining about hard it was for them to build it. I like hard builds, I want the challenge.
>>11166449This was not a hard build, its actually one of the easiest kits I've built. I would almost feel disappointment if he didn't come out looking so good. Starting to think people who insist gundam kits are hard to build are actually just retarded.
>>11166449>>11166451One of my friends actually bought it as their first gunpla and they didn't have any issues. I have to insist they sanded the nubs off though because they were going to leave them. The only thing they did prior was an acerby or something like it.
>>11166451Also genuinely never heard someone say gundam kits are hard before, only ever heard other hobbyists say they are too basic and easy because the parts slot together instead of needing glue
>>11166451Gundam kits are just bionicles for weebs.
>>11166459One of the main complaints I saw was the armor falling off or it was flimsy, but this is one of the most solid feeling gundam figures I have built.
>>11166408Translations can be confusing, always look at the Japanese name first:>光沢 = gloss>半光沢 = semi-gloss>つや消し = matte, flat, etcMrColor has only these 3 finishes."Mr SuperClear Matt" and "Mr SuperClear UV Cut Flat" are basically the same thing, the latter also has some UV blocker in it.
>>11166010Mr. Super Clear Flat is the "best" matte topcoat in the sense that it reflects the least light. If you have the grey can pictured here you're all good
>>11166459"Hard" builds to me are ones with pain in the ass parts, like sanding Zaku 2.0 tubes, or ones with a lot of dull repetition, like building a shitload of funnels. There is also just plain bad engineering that causes confusing or difficult to assemble sections sometimes. You rarely see that with Bandai anymore, but other plamo, for sure.
>>11166683I feel like too many people confuse tedium with difficulty. Or maybe too many people with short attention spans get into model hobbies.
>>11166459They can be as hard as you want.
>>11166704Well, now you're splitting hairs a little I think. "Hard" doesn't even have a specific definition, it's whatever you personally find challenging. And fair call, I do have diagnosed ADHD and sticking to tedious builds is a genuine challenge for me, so I call that hard. On the other hand, things that many people seem to think are difficult (like waterslides, dry transfers, and precisely placing stickers) are easy for me.
>>11164511I'm really putting my tin foil hat when it comes to Bandai these days. I get that there was increased demand during the pandemic because of people getting into the hobby, but we're 4 years removed from the brunt of it. Normies would have bailed on the hobby by now because that's what they fucking do. My local Hobby Lobby is back to being mostly used by literal Boomers according to the cashier. But the stock on online retailers still isn't anywhere near 2018-2019 levels again. That makes me think Bandai is purposely printing low numbers of everything they make to save on money.
>>11167254It's always possible that management are just being completely retarded rather than malicious
>>11166727What did that mod do to the kit?
>>11167558Moving monoeye, rotating blades, etc etc.
>>11164166if they are like other lines (Figurise Amplified Digimon) there may be an additional reprint, but if it's similar to Macross or Yu-Gi-Oh! then it will be just one and that's all.
>>11164406you may as well skip them, the time to order them was when they were announced. Right now if you want one you will have to order from a local shop or scalpers.
>>11164903according to their new policies it's after 6 months (180 days). The 90 days limit is outdated info.
>>11167602Well they aren't enforcing it either way so it doesn't matter what they say the limit is
>>11167598i miss working for a distributor. I never had to put in any effort to get hype kits, I'd just pull one from the case when it came in.
Any idea what legs were used? Wanted to replicate this with the Rx-78 2.0
>>11168505They look like generic Machineca legs to me, so any FAG or MD or even some generic chinese kit off Aliexpress should work.
>>11144380What size of scriber is good if i just want too deepen the panel lines?
>>111685760.1mm for HG and RG0.15mm for MG and RE/100
>>11168601What about 0.2mm? Also what is some good and cheap scriber brand?

>>11167605>Well they aren't enforcing it either wayThey are.I had a kit I didn't want in my warehouse and after 180 days they automatically removed it and gave me the store credit.
>>11168907I have several items in my warehouse with 0 days remaining. Also store credit and not an actual refund? Probably gonna be better to cancel new orders if you don't want to ship them from now on
>>11168979>0 days remainingThey haven't updated their website, so the "remaining" counter still counts 90 days. In their reminder emails however they show the number of days the item has been in the warehouse and that number is correct.
