I'm that anon in the past thread waiting for their FedEx package: It arrived!
That anon was right, the Toho Kaiju Series Destoroyah (pic related) is still a bit too short in scale sadly. Man I wish we'd get a larger size Movie Monster Series Destoroyah that's between this size and the 8" scale version. Does anyone here have the Godzilla Island Monster Series Destoroyah?
I also got the 2000 MegaGoji figure from the box set, and it's pretty nice looking! It has a very, very subtle dark green tint to it. I like that, even though it is maybe slightly too dark of a green. Did they use two suits for the Megaguirus movie?
Anyways, I'm super happy. I'll share pics later.
>>
>>11147627
I have it and the the MMS one with the pink tag (which think was from 2006 I think.) I thought I lost the former during a move so I got the latter sometime think a year or so later. Then turns out left it at my folks place along with the rest of my childhood Godzilla figures. Can confirm that the MMS is like think 2-3 centimeters taller than the Godzilla Island one. Should note that Toho Kaiju Series is just the Godzilla Island figures after when the latter series came to an end, and the figures from GIS are the same size and paint as the TKS aside think Godzilla who if I'm mistaken had way more blue spray paint than the GIS original.
>>
>>11147684
Oh nice, thanks anon! That's great news! I think the Destoroyah figures all look great (well maybe besides the latest MMS, I have problems with it). My only worry is scale, because I imagine Destoroyah as the largest monster in scale to Godzilla, on par at least with King Ghidorah.
>>
>>11147697
The best sized Destoroyah is probably the Bandai Creations one if I had to give input.

>Stop shilling your channel and your shitty company here
The only affiliation I have with Super7 is collecting their ReAction line of Godzilla figures and enjoying talking about them. I'm not "shilling" my channel, I'm posting a video review of a Kaiju toy that has no reviews yet in a kaiju Toy thread. It's not like I gain anything from posting a link here beside spurring on conversation. What's got your jimmies rustled?

Super7 doesn't outright suck, but I'm no fanboy. Their Ultimate Godzilla figure is at a local comic shop and it's shiny plastic looks like ass and is way overpriced. I've not gotten any figures from them beside the ReAction figures I have; but I enjoy the Toho monsters in this smaller scale, I can fit a whole collection of kaiju on one shelf.
>>
>>11148233
Super7 sucks, quit posting their garbage ass toys in this thread. They are outright the worst thing to happen to Godzilla toys.
>>
>>11148233
I like their ReAction Godzilla line of figures. I have a few. That Megalon is pretty nice.
The problem I found is their price, which is kind of wild they ask $15 for them regardless of size and series. I want to get some the Roger Rabbit figures, but would never pay $15 for one.
Also if I was you, I'd ignore the bait. There are lots of hooks out lately. Thankfully the mods are deleting some of the troll posts (noticed that another post of theirs got deleted in the past thread which means they were the same baiting anon kek).

I liked Ebirah Horror of the Deep too but didn't list it.
>The original mothra is way fucking better sorry
I like the OG Mothra movie too, but anon asked for godzilla movies, what I like about Mothra vs Godzilla is that it's essentially a sequel to Mothra up until half way through when Godzilla attacks and hijacks the plot.

Here is the Giants 90th Anniversary Godzilla 1954 figure. It is cool with Giants colors. However, I see it more as a Halloween themed Godzilla. It is strange to see Godzilla in orange, yet it feels kind of fitting. Either way, it'll go up alongside my Halloween decorations.

>articulated statue
Nigga, what? Does statue just mean "thing I don't like" now?

>>11151363
It's a cool figure with a ton of accessories and cool features like the light up eyes and Absolute Zero. Heavy weapons backpack, arm cannons with or without the blades, a docking station, three different eyes, damaged and undamaged chest and arm pieces, and my favorite is the extra shoulder piece that comes with a scale size Yashiro (she's like 1mm tall.)
Some of the articulation might feel weird and maybe a little stiff compared to plastic models, but it holds poses despite the weight. I also like the weightiness of the figure and it's cool to have a robot figure actually made of metal. Would definitely recommend if you can afford it. I would post pics, but I'm out of town and they're on my other computer.
>>
>>11150906
> I know from firsthand experience too that SHMA having wonky eyes is more common than not.
yeah the fear of this has kept me from picking any of them up as someone really just getting back into toys
I can't justify spending the prices they command if I get something like that
Is it really that hard to guarantee decent eye and teeth paint applications?
>>
>>11151895
Surprisingly alot of the reason for the SHMA figures prices are assembly. You would be looking at something even more expensive for perfect paint QC
>>
>>11151946
The assembly price point of the more expensive figures of the line should absolutely guarantee that the eyes arent literally completely screwed up and misprinted. What a stupid fucking thing to say. If they cant do even the most basic qc on a key paint feature while keeping the price where it should be then the brand is a failure.
>>
>>11151946
And they're just hollow shells most of the time.
>>
>>11151829
It has poor articulation especially at the head and mid section and knees
>>
>>11151895
Same here. I got one figure thinking it'd be worth it. No perfect paint is understandable. But messing up the one place paint has to be mear perfect on an otherwise very lightly painted figure at a premium price? Pfff no thanks for me. I heard the other figurarts lines are good, so idk why Godzilla's line struggles with it.
>>
>>11151574

SHMA has been issuing 3 Heisei figures a year for the past 2 years. Destroyah is either gonna be next year or the year after. Hiya's Heisei stuff doesnt start hitting shelves until the middle of next year and then is followed by a Millenium figure plus they still need to do a ton of repaints of Evolved Godzilla, Beast Glove Kong, translucent Shimo, Skar King, and Mechagodzilla for their Monsterverse figures. Hiya could suprise people, but I'm betting a reissued SHMA comes out first.

It has a softer sculpt, worse detail, and worse articulation than a $25 Neca.

This is the burning Godzilla mold right?
You will probably get frustrated with the tail. Other then that it's a nice big weighty godzilla, think of it like those old bandai Godzilla figures that used to be in stores in the 90s, but with some more articulation. I can recommend Melting Godzilla just for the sculptwork on the upper half, and Destoroyah for it's sheer size and heft.
>>
>>11155489
>it's a nice big weighty godzilla, think of it like those old bandai Godzilla figures that used to be in stores in the 90s
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it - it reminded me of an old one I had as a kid, though mine was in his normal green colors with silver back plates. Looking at some pics, I think mine was the Trendmasters one? Whatever - he looks neat, but now I'm a little concerned about the 'softer sculpt' the previous anon mentioned - any idea if he's prone to tearing or breaking?
>>
>>11155498
The only tearing issue is with Moguera as far as I'm aware. Nothing is tearable on the godzillas. I have had no breaking issues. They just arnt super posable like most Monsterarts.

back from my night jog. The sculpted detail is very soft which is made worse by its minimal paint apps. It's glossy as all hell, but I guess that doesn't matter if you are going with the bright orange figure. The articulation is ass to the point that despite all the ball joints, the tail might as well not have articulation outside being able to swivel at the base. The waist swivel was a factory error that was too far into production to fix with the Wave 1 figures, but it looks like they didn't fix it with the orange translucent figure. Super7 has improved significantly since the disastrous Wave 1 figures, so I just can't recommend a cheap reissue of a substandard figure, especially when Minus One Goji just came out which isn't perfect, but surpasses the wave 1 figures in almost every way (except for eye paint)

>>11155489
>I can recommend Melting Godzilla just for the sculptwork on the upper half
Unfortunately, unless he wants to buy that figure on the aftermarket for hundreds of dollars more than MSRP. I don't think he's ever gonna get the opportunity to buy the 1200ºC Godzilla. Bryan Flynn said in an interview recently that he was looking forward to reissuing Destroyah because of how popular it was, but that Toho said the 1200ºC turned out too gory and that it probably won't get another release.

I'm really hoping the line continues to improve. I like Destroyah and and Minus One Goji (could definitely be better with the paint apps though) so I'm hoping that the next wave really builds off of the improvements in articulation and sculpted detail.

not much of a story. The Disney and Simpson's ultimate didn't see well because Brian and his team were incredibly dumb and decided to do waves that were mostly "Deep cut" characters with only one of two popular characters per wave. It was a disaster. That coupled with the $55 price tag killed the lines and led to Disney pulling the license. It's one of the factors that led to Super7's new 5-inch "Delux" line of $35 figures which are meant to try and be more approachable on retail shelves, which is something that Disney wanted but Flynn was adamantly against at the time.

I placed my first order directly with IDW to purchase their website exclusive Hardcover of their new OGN about Godzilla, Monster Island Summer Camp. I placed the order Thursday along with the hardcover of War For Humanity which comes out this coming week and selected 7 day free shipping.

Well, today a package arrived with the newly released Monster Island Summer Camp, along with two IDW FCBD issues I already had. I wish I took a picture of the packaging, but it was steller. A flat cardboard book shipper thing, but with a later of extra cardboard inside, with a cardboard envelope inside that, which had the books inside wrapped in bubble wrap. One of the most impressive and well packed items I've ever received, and shipped in a way that got to me almost instantly. I look forward to digging into the book.

It's a smaller book, the size of their digests which the paperback also was. For some reason, I thought the hardcover was gonna be deluxe sized, but that's my bad for not paying attention. Between that and the binding being glued, I'm a little disappointed. But the book itself is very pretty. The artwork on the front AND back cover is embossed. It has some fun special features in the back, but I assume those are in the standard release and the only difference is the hardcover itself.

You can see a picture of it next to a standard trade paperback and digest sized paperback from IDW for size comparison.

The War for Humanity hardcover I ordered comes next week. The standard release is a trade paperback and not digest, so I'm curious to see if that gets a standard hardcover size or is also this smaller digest sized hardcover. I will see soon.

All the same, highly recommend buying from them just for the amazing care in packing and speedy arrival.

https://youtu.be/UFbUQlL_ZSM?si=dIV-_bm6oZyQW_fG

But my overall sales pitch is historical fantasy fiction. Kaiju have been around all through history, but a secret cabal have been covering them up. If I remember right, this takes place in the 1500s. A Privateer gets wrapped up in a conspiracy plot and Pirates set sail the seas and clash with kaiju.

It messes up a few historical details, but the art is awesome and the story is lots of fun. I recommend it. One of the better IDW Godzilla output as of late.

I got mine yesterday. The hips/diaper situation is atrocious; proportions aside, I couldn’t find a position to put the legs into that both looks natural and isn’t denting the plastic on his ass cheeks, diaper should have been free floating, a softer plastic, or had more clearance for his butt. He’s otherwise ok but noticeably lacking in articulation for a humanoid character and has some weird engineering choices seemingly just because they didn’t want to copy figuarts joints. Overall I don’t think he’s that great but like you said, I’ve been waiting for an articulated jet jaguar a long time so I’m still ok with it.

Yeah, the shitty eyeliner on my Lythonax looks great. Same goes for the crudely slapped-on blue spots on my Alectrosaurus or my raptor's blue nose.
You've gotta be some kind of absurd fanboy or absolutely blinded by paleoaccuracte sculpts if you think the articulation for the Therapods is better than what the Hammond Collection is offering. The CBS therapods can't open their mouths wide, they can't do dynamic poses without a stand, hell they can barely stand without a support stand for long periods of time unless you want the legs to warp. A $35 toy from Mattel can easily outpose a $140 CBS figure. It isn't 2021 anymore, the large and medium Hammond Collection figures don't have clown feet, soft sculpts, and buck teeth anymore while the BOTM figures still have bad deco, a worse range of neck articulation, and can't stand without supports or their non-articulated legs.

Dinosaurs and dragons have been a part of kaiju media since the very beginning, and CBS is the only company to make a Tyrannosaurus that scales with Hiya and SHMA's Kong. Talking about the problems with the company's figures is no different than talking about Bandai's bad eye QC or the poor articulation in Super7's Wave 1 Godzilla toys. But to keep you from throwing a fit, I'll be sure to include the big monkey in any future posts.

That's not what I said. you you have reading comprehension issues? I said by your own poorly thought out definition the Indominus and Giganotosaurus would be kaiju because they are "fictionalized giant and exaggerated ones" The Indominus Rex is not a real abelisaurid no animal like it has ever existed and it's longer and heavier than even the most liberal projections of any real therapod. The Giga uses the name of a real dinosaur but has so little in common with it as to be wholly fictionalized in its depiction. It's massively oversized, covered in crocodile scales, and even has a scene where it "breathes" fire.

On an unrelated note, I forgot how terrible Rath's joints are. I took him off his stand to see about posing him more dynamically for some Rath vs. Anjanath vibes and he's a floppy mess. Did anybody get the reissue for the anniversary? and if so how are his joints

Can't do that. I love this big green bitch. I guess I could pull Irys or Gamera out of their boxes, but Gamera's not really that fun to mess with because of how limited its articulation is and Irys isn't fun to mess with because it falls apart if you look at it funny.

I'll say basically the the same thing I said here >>11155184 Hiya's Heisei figures don't start hitting shelves until the middle of next year, later if you don't order from a Chinese seller and instead chose Entertainment Earth or BBTS and breaking up those releases from further Heisei figures are Hiya's Millenium and Monsterverse figures. It could be anywhere from 2 years to half a decade before we get Spacegodzilla from Hiya. When Hiya makes their Spacegodzilla I'll gladly buy it, but I'm very happy to have my SHMA.

They are a mixed bag. Great sculpts. Great articulation, but it depends on how you feel about them popping off quite easily but being able to be put back togehter. Paint and deco is mooooostly good but can be a bit off sometimes. Pricing might also be a bit off putting since they are expensive and usually come with very few accesories, if any. I say it's worth if if you've got the money. They have a lot of figures but some might be a bit hard to get a hold of. But Hiya is looking great, don't own any of those figures yet but I do want those Heisei and Millenium Godzilla figures. Sculpt is great, articulation looks good and the price is nice. Neca is probably not that easy to get a hold of any more since they are no longer making figures and they don't seem amazing. Super 7 is more of mixed bag. Don't own any but from what I've seen they are kinda good to meh.

Pic related. It's Heisei Godzilla by Neca, SHMA and Hiya.
