Ordered the Acid Rain Ankylo from amiami as they had the best price. Got raped for postage from Japan now I've just received a demand for import duty, VAT and processing fees that effectively doubles the cost.

I think JoyToy did the right thing in not making the SMs huge. they are just big enough to look imposing next to other 1:18 figures but not look ridiculous. I have a few of the Primarchs and they just look out of place next to 1:18 figures even other SMs. WH40K scale can be ridiculous at times and doesn't translate well in toy form.

on a separate note, anybody else disappointed with the new joe O-ring figures? they have no fucking detail.

These look amazing, but according to their listings everywhere, they/re 1/24 scale.

Still, amazing detail and paint for their size. I would have loved to have bought the mad max mooks if they were 1:18 or even 1/20.

Any reviews for them?
>>
>>11165016
Ooh, so like Hexa Gear/No.57 size. That's very small. Stuff at this scale is impressive just cause it's so tiny, but frankly it's not as enjoyable as 1/18 to me usually. The only time I prefer 1/124 is when it's used to facilitate huge vehicles, which to be fair. Hexa Gear sometimes does.

can't really expect anything more detailed from Super7. They're another one of the companies that fetishized old toys for Boomers and GenXers. I tried out their Godzilla figures and they mostly suck. I've got a bunch of the Hiya Joes on Preorder and never bothered with Super7's retro stuff.
>>
>>11163869
oof, that blows, dude. Importing from Japan seems worth it at first because of how weak the yen is compared to the dollar, but in the end it almost always ends up costing as much as if not more than if you just went through the normal channels because shipping has been so damn expensive since Covid.

What's the deal with Marvel Infinite Series? Is it just Marvel Universe under another name?
>>
>>11168997
It's a sub-line name like Fury Files.
It's basically when they started to dumb down the engineering. So expect to see missing ankles, torso, and other missing articulation that was making fans angry.

So new figures like this didn't have the thigh swivel and wrists. Plus, check out the missing detail, like the bracelets that should be sculpted, instead of painted on. They were still reusing the old bodies too, but was becoming less common.

Hasbro was purposely sabotaging the line to get collectors into buying the more expensive MLs.
>>
>>11163869
Ah, the ol customs gamble. You win some, you lose some, brother.
>>
>>11169668
that figure looks really thin. Like it looks like they just used a spiderman body and put a coat on it.
>>
I love the aesthetic of the acid rain stuff but man those fuckers are expensive.
>>
>>11170272
They're also just not my favorite in-hand. Like the range, the way the joints feel and move, etc. They have these sort of gummy feeling ratchets that remind me of Hasbro a bit. They still LOOK absolutely amazing, but I think I'm starting to get a little disillusioned paying so much for figures I'm not 100% happy with.

it's a super hero proportion, but yeah, it looks a bit too tall.
It's what happens when you start fitting heads on different bodies. You have a generic body and a character who's supposed to have a different looking body still needs a head that would fit on that body to look like the character, thus looks weird.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. so Cyclop sand Daredevil here are closely matched. Bullseye? Not so much, but it doesn't look bad.

It's sad, but I can't really bring myself to care about this line anymore. Prices too high, too hard to obtain. I really like the one figure I own, but I got it for like $30 back when they were offered at BBTS, and I think that was a fair price. I think it's time to stop hoping the distribution or pricing might improve. It's never going to happen, time to move on.

>>Also, her bodysuit is supposed to have a turtleneck, it's kind of weird looking how her entire neck is just painted grey.

That's because it can be reused for a regular top and bare skin for another figure's release.
>>
>>11187497
Ah, makes sense. Also explains why her arm-sleeves are just cheaply painted on with no sculpted edge to them.

Dude these are 1:18th scale. You would be hard pressed to find 1:18 figures with ankle rockers and swivels same with thigh swivels AND calf swivels.
>>
>>11191711
I've been collecting 1/18 on and off for about 15 years now, and yeah, some companies don't do it, but the better ones do, and that's typically what I aim for these days. Joytoy is usually one of the good ones, so I'm a little surprised to see that they fumbled here. It would have been so easy to hide a swivel in those bandages too.
>>
>>11191779
I have a collection of 200+ JoyToy figures and i dont recall any of them having a calf swivel. Can you tell me what JT figure has a calf swivel? I also have 50+ annex/acid rain figures. Same deal. I dont recall any of them having a calf swivel.

I collect hiya, SW TVC, boss fight, marauder, chicken fried toys and cant recall many or any of those having a calf swivel.

I have some marvel universe figures that have the calf swivel and honestly it looks like shit at this scale especially the females.
>>
>>11190649
Dude
>>
>>11192090
Almost all of my 80-odd Warhammer ones do, by merit of their feet being balljoints, which gives you a built-in swivel. Even the ones that use traditional swivel hinge ankles (like the Sisters of Battle) have a swivel at the top of the joint, which accomplishes the same thing as a calf swivel.

I'm not saying all figures do it. Like I don't think any of my Acid Rain ones have it. But it's an important joint and I don't think many people realize that. Generally, I find that poselets tend not to understand the importance of calf/thigh swivels, and say they could be axed. This is often due to them never having experienced good ones (like those nigh-useless 5 degree thigh wiggle joints McFarlane uses), and some people simply cannot pose their figures well, and don't understand what goes into a good pose.
