I'm back at it again! Working on a "bespoke" figure rather than a blank body for once; to be exact a female goblin, because of course it is. Finally worked out a better workflow for sculpting, this is the "block-out" stage. I've already gone quite a bit past this stage though, will post more pics soon. Obviously the final head will not be a gormless Funko Pop looking monstrosity.Also I've had a thought regarding the hip joints; given the tiny size I might actually use disc hinges connected by balljoints going into the lower torso, which combined with the thigh swivel should give Polynian style articulation at the hips and should also work a lot better given how fucking small she's going to be.

Another custom for today. This time a test as to whether I could add a Model Kit or action figure head to an ABJD body. It worked! Also I think with the right sets of Hobby base joints you can convert a whole 1/12 BJD body to use joints instead of strings relatively easily.

Pumpkin-tan is here. Though I must say, her hip articulation is a downgrade compared to Assassin and the Aileen's. The mech itself is very cool.What frustrates me a bit with snail shell is Assassin's hip articulation is almost perfect and near seamless to boot. But for releases after her, it seems snail shell got struck with amnesia and repeatedly failed to implement this same articulation correctly. Aileen's hip articulation is their best attempt yet and is also a simplified execution compared to Assassin. However, Aileen's pelvis is fixed to her torso as opposed to Assassin's floating pelvis, meaning, you can hide Assassin's gaps by moving her pelvis in place.For the pumpkin princess though, It's the Aileen hip movement BUT they didn't give the proper clearance for her forward thigh movement. As a result, she can't move her thigh 90 degrees forward. TLDR: She can't sit upright much less cross her legs over knees. Sigh..... but I still love her.

Stupid customizing question: what kind of plastic/rubber is used for Lustia's chest? And does it react to, say, electric tape?I've been thinking about using electric tape for making pasties on figures. Only worry is the adhesive might destroy the plastic due to some chemical breakdowns or whatever. Get “museum grade” poster putty which is a bit stronger, has no dyes in it and doesn’t leave residue. Elmer’s purple glue sticks are straight up edible and even wash out of fabric with warm water. The purple might be questionable but I think it washes clean out of white clothing. Or get clear. Based idea, would save me trouble censoring pics for here.

>>11189823If the base head matches skin tone just use waterslide decals for eyes, mouth, blush. if you want to go a bit more indepth use tamiya weathering masters to blush cheeks. I usually seal with Mr Superclear and leave it alone for 24 hours. Also recommend using mark setter and softener for the waterslide decals.

I did get plan to use one of the pixiv bodies for Frieren. However, what I did was modify a hobby base figma style neck joint to fit her head and now i can use her head on the figma and manatee/hon bodies
