When is it that one has too many toys?
>>11194683When you need a separate room to display them all.
>>11194691Do you, just display them all over your house? I don't understand. I have my home office decked out with my collection, imo ly have a handful of things in my actual bedroom.
>>11194683When your display looks like a stacked super market/pawn shop shelf.
>>11194683When one loses the joy that comes from having even one.
>>11194683If you think you have too many, you have too many.
>>11194683There's no set number. For one person, they might have over a thousand toys, but open everything immediately, display things nicely, and genuinely enjoy and appreciate every new figure they get. For another person, they might hit fifty, have a clusterfuck of a display, and already be losing enthusiasm. Personally, I've reached the too much stage. I've got between 300-400, have a few dozen unopened, and am running out of space. I buy more lately for the dopamine hit and not getting fucked on the aftermarket than anything else.
>>11194683When it starts to encroach on other aspects of your life.
>>11194705>just display them all over your houseAnd have people assume things? I don't think so.
>>11194683When it is all piled up and you can’t see or enjoy figures because they’re all crushed under more and more. You can’t move around your home properly. When it encroaches on your life outside your hobby.Or, when mommy says you can’t have tendies for dinner and you will not receive more GBP until you clean up your figgies.
When collect becomes hoard
>>11194885I've reached the same spot with a similar number of figs. I don't like having unopened figs in a closet, but the display has started spilling into other rooms and I don't like that either.
>>11194977You have to thin the herd.
>>11194885>and not getting fucked on the aftermarketThis is a problem for me too. I would buy figures later, but doing so means I probably can't afford them for 4x MSRP later. It has become 'buy it now or face the consequences' for most my stuff. I wish things would slow down a bit.
For me it’s a balancing act like I don’t want to sell off stuff I have but if I have too many toys it’s difficult to enjoy them it becomes more than any one person can enjoy same thing with like video games you get so much you can’t possibly play them all and for me that becomes frustrating
>>11194904When what ever this is, is not the strangest thing in a room you have too many toys
>>11195869It’s from a video where two guys explore a toy hoarders house, and it’s mountains and mountains of plushies piled like strange organic sculptures. There’s a literal fucking shrine to this guy hidden in the centre of the home, it’s seriously weird. https://youtu.be/iDDwM8NKoQc?si=CT3l7c4j6BapjXpT Skip to about halfway because they show like half the video of them just breaking in kek
>>11194904WELCOMETO THE CUDDLE PIT
>>11196089I wish I could go there and steal all those plushies and become the next plushie hoarder and keep the legacy alive.
>>11198343Do you not see the mold on the walls? It's probably disgusting in there.
>>11198343You also have to rebuild and worship at the shrine whilst the black mold seeps into your brain.
>>11198344>>11198348You know you can just wash them out right?
>>11194683never, friend
>>11194683My mom always told me that
and she was right
>>11194683When you go out to buy a new toy that's a new version of the same shit you already have but slightly updated. Think of "Malibu Stacy's new hat." Do you really give a shit about having 20 versions of Darth Vader/He-Man/Optimus Prime/Spider-Man?
>>11202485Spiderman I might argue with as there's many different versions of his costume. I agree with the others though.
>>11202485>Do you really give a shit about having 20 versions of Darth Vader/He-Man/Optimus Prime/Spider-Man?I give a fug about owning different versions of Gondola does that count?
>>11196546
>>11194683I have too many from lot wins and the like, and too many from some aspects of this: >>11194885and this >>11194977 since I do have unopened dupes in say closets, that I intend to sell, but haven't gotten around to.
>>11194904>mold on the wallsabsolutely disgusting
>>11194904Wtf is that ceiling pattern? Would drive me fucking bonkers looking at that shit. Fuckers giant checker board ass thing.
>>11204423>AAAAAAAAAHHHHH IS THAT A SIMPLE PATTERN I'M GOING INSANE HELP ME NIGGERMAN
When you buy a toy and you find out you already had it in MOC condition a few days later.
>>11205342Nah, that's a level even further beyond. Like hoarding or early onset dementia.
>>11194683more than a shelf
Somewhere between one to three rows thick per shelf.
>>11206986Nah - if you had that happen MANY times, maybe but that's not what anon described. Besides, you could have 20 or 30 of the same thing whether it was MOC or not, and that would be more like hoarding behavior.>>11205342>>11207609>>11207687This is most people here.
>>11207808Just the fact that you can't keep track of your collection inventory means you have too much.
>>11194683I usually keep my stuff well organized and out of site, so when I take my collection out to clean my room, I'm usually shocked at just how many toys I have.I know based on what I've seen online that my collection is on the smaller side, but it's still a bit jarring.
