Fuck forgot to link from the previous post mentioning the slight discount.
>>
>>11198482
I can't imagine a shipment that cheap saving you any money in the long run with the discount unless the next items are huge and you'd want to split the delivery anyway. These coupons are really only beneficial if you already have everything you want to ship ready to go or you just want to be punished less for your impatience.

Thank you for the input.
Im unsure since the next shipment maybe huge due to the amount of model kits(2 moderoids, 1 hg sized box, and whatever size the new ZEUS destiny unit is) I ordered which is why im on the edge.
Last time shipping costed me around 11k for two MD susanoo sized kits which is why im paranoid about shipping right now. This order ironically costed more than the 11k shipping order I mentioned.
What would usually be your threshold before shipping?
>>

>My private warehouse has been empty since September 30th

I hope I'm not the only whale here. I don't even think of shipping until DHL rates have left sanity behind, nevermind 5k.
>>
>>11198526
Were you the guy who who posted his FUCK HUGE HLJ shipment in response to me earlier this year when I was asking about shipping prices?
>>
>>11198524
>What would usually be your threshold before shipping?
My threshold is having all of my crap in stock. I've never shipped early because of those coupons because the risk:reward ratio is skewed. You're looking at "saving" 530 yen, which is... $3.50? At the risk of spending $20+ in extra shipping later? Nope. If the order is large enough to warrant splitting you can probably save that much with clever combination anyway.
>>
>>11198482
If you want your shit before Christmas, this is the best time to ship. Once the holidays start shipping will be a pain in the ass as always.

I'm tired of waiting for my mao and soffiera.

Had to divide my packages into 3 shipments for max efficiency.
I still have some stuff left in PW but it's not at full capacity so I'll let them wait till next discount.

11am (JST) October 16, which is 10 pm tonight if you're on the US east coast and can't into time zones. Might show up a couple hours later on HLJ, they seem a bit slow with updates. Honestly just check Koto's xwitter feed, they usually announce them there a couple of days ahead of time.

did anyone ITT get this Galahad kit? it looks like they're doing another printing since gundamit lists it as "coming soon" again
>>
>>11199163
I did but I still havent built it.
>>
>>11199163
It's an "ok" kit.
Lots of fitting issues, tiny joints that are easy to break, ugly face.
Design itself looks really nice though and the limited edition(?) wing is beautiful.
Can't say it's a horrible kit, but it's not a good one either.
I'd give it a 5.5/10
>>
>>11199238
it seems like ugly faces is a universal problem among chinese girlpla

Welp, here it is. My very first girlpla kit.
I'm a bit overwhelmed, not by the amount of parts, but by how packed the box is. The content is so efficiently packed like goddamn Tetris. Are most Koto's kits packed like this? Maybe I should've gone with some smaller and cheaper 30MS kit first.
Anyway I've read that Koto's kits' joints have pretty tight fit, making sanding them almost mandatory. For joint sanding do I just sand them like how I would sand normal parts (going from coarse > fine grit), or can I just stop at coarse grit since I won't be seeing them anyway?
>>
>>11199474
I built this one and she was alright. The shoulder joints are a bit tight, you're just sanding a bit to adjust the fit not smoothing out nubs/seams. I find a glass file works well, nothing too aggressive. Sometimes just working the joint back and forth a few times after assembling seems to help. Also, be careful with the gold decals, I've had adhesion issues with them in the past. A gloss clear coat definitely helps. And yes, the boxes are usually pretty packed, although the SST ones maybe a bit less. I also stabbed my thumb on her spikey hair, be aware she may demand a blood sacrifice. Happy building!
>>
>>11199502
I see. I can just skip straight to glass file then. Thanks.
>I also stabbed my thumb on her spikey hair
I guess the sharp edges warning wasn't just for show. I also seen a few japanese streamers got themselves stabbed while assembling Soffiera
>>
>>11199474
First girlpla or first plamo? Anyway, Koto still has tight joints, but not to the extent they gained their reputation for. Just check tightness as you assemble, work some in or sand the worst cases and you'll be fine. Silicone oil is also an option.

>>11199518
The blood sacrifice must be performed and Koto has provided other alternatives if you're too slick to cut yourself with your knife.
>>
>>11199502
>>11199518
If you didn't bleed on her, you didn't build her right.
>>
>>11199238
That doesn't sound like an ok kit, it sounds like a shit kit.
>>
>>11199538
>First girlpla or first plamo?
First girlpla. I've done few SD, HG, and a single MG gunplas. But that was almost a decade ago, and I didn't even have proper edged tools back then. Just some shitty nipper and $2 X-acto knock-off. I'm been getting back into it starting with Bandai's 30MM kits, and having actual tools makes it much easier.
>>
>>11199350
I feel your pain.
I've ordered some 30MF from HLJ and they still don't have them.
But what can I do? Other shops offered 1 per customer (an no overseas) while HLJ offered 3 per.
>>
>>11199579
You mean the singular release from a brand new line? Yeah can't believe those all sold out super fast. Joke aside they'll be getting reprints every 3 or so months for the next few years easily so it's just a matter of time.
>>
>>11199402
I honestly probably should. I have something else on PO + stuff in warehouse that I wanted to ship together but fuck it, the other PO got delayed until November anyways
>>
>>11199350

I keep saying this but anons keep failing this one simple step.
>>
>>11199546
that's because you're ignoring the visual design which is the most highly weighted part and is pretty great (face prints aside)
if you wanna experience a truly shit kit go buy some boomer plane model made on 60 year old molds

I actually just got her recently! My opinion is pretty much the oppsite of the other anon itt - I really love her. I will agree that she has joint tolerance issues - specifically, pretty much all the parts on the one POM runner she has are varying amounts of over-tight. Otherwise though I didn't have any notable issues with the build. Her faces are also probably the best I've personally seen on a chinese kit, and I've built a bunch. I really love her design overall, super cool kit

maybe you don't know this, but especially with particular couriers like FedEx, maxing the number of items send on a single shippment is worse in almost all cases.

Pic related are some calculations I did for my specific case (Mexico, almost all gunpla) and found that the best price per item is when the shipment is at 13k jpy. At that price the Lah Gundam in the shipment costs only 1,085 jpy to ship. Add another item (standar HG box) to the package and the shipping cost balloons by a whooping 3,000 and the price to ship the Lah Gundam increases to 1,234 jpy. That is what the other anon is referring to with clever combination.

I would personally suggest to just pick shade on your own instead of trying to emulate official ones. In my opinion old "heavy skin tone" from Vallejo Game Color was very nice dark skin but they discontinued it. With GW, maybe either Cadian Fleshtone or Bugman Glow? You're fucked. If you're in Japan you can use Koto's replacement parts order service, but it doesn't work outside of Japan. If you ordered through HLJ they can do it for you, and quickly to boot, but only if you ordered within a reasonable amount of time from receiving the product. Yeah, it's something I've always struggled with. Perfection never was a requirement afterall.

My only real big issue on this build was not realizing how the lines I added on the legs weren't as smooth as I thought they were, even after having done filing and sanding on them. But the added lines on the arm turned out good and the overall painting process went excellently, so yeah. Just happy all the practice I did in getting some of the paint finishes paid off on the final product, especially the metallic green on the torso.

Standard, happens to me as well, quite often. But it looks okay from distance and nobody will take magnifying glass to check it. Metallic effect looks okay, too.

as a ukoid, when i have as much as i can fit into a surface mail package that comes out to under £135 incl shipping (about 25k yen with current exchange rates) so i can avoid VAT at customs. it's almost not worth ordering from japan if i go over the VAT threshold but i still want to ship in bulk to save money

Process was pretty simple. Took the base Asra Ninja Kaname, modified some parts by adding additional details via tamiya two part epoxy, sanded/filed everything down to what I thought looked good, then I made the eye patch with some styrne sheets, then went through the usual airbrushing painting process. The gold/yellow and purple was done by painting silver and then a clear yellow or purple over it, and the deep metallic green was done by painting a clear green over the the darker metallic green you see on the arms and some other places. After that applied a clear gloss coat over everything.

The eye patch and faceplates have a small magnet in it so I can attach it to any faceplate, and the hair was from a Muscuto garage kit.

And that's pretty much it.

perhaps I should get hair parts plus the new stocking limbs set that comes with a bunch of blank faces? do I need to also buy face decals separately?

Cools. Getting her listed up right now. The REAL bitch about shipping is, almost every damned shipping calculator weve used, whether its on site or off, for the two big selling sites we use (Ebay and Reverb. Weve sold a LOT of guitars past few years) are always WILDLY inconsistent with their estimates. Sometimes off by hundreds of dollars. And the major problem is, we never know what the things going to cost until the person buys it, we get it boxed up, then put in the info like weight and shit. We are forced to just list an estimate for the shipping, and once the sale "goes through", we see the actual damages. Weve lost hundreds because of it, usually because the buyer doesnt want to cover the difference, which leads to them backing out, or sometimes if its just off by like 10-20, we just eat the extra.

For little stuff like this though, it shouldnt be a problem. Ill list her for 5 bucks with like 4 bucks shipping for ya.

They made a bunch of improvements in that regard lately, I think.
See Izumo for example.

I just hope the bullshit that is koto store bonus won't be anything too significant like it were with brazillian arsia and power loader arsia or what's-her-name.

Even if they got super lazy in that regard, Kagutsuchi the mech has a giant back-skirt covering the rear, so even if they fuck up or get lazy engineering wise, it shouldn't be an issue.

>>
I admit, I feel really awful about myself and my rather large stack of plastic kits, especially girls. I feel so demotivated to do anything, yet I keep buying new ones that simply wait there. Even when I think about building some, I feel repulsed by realising how much work would painting require (I do things by brush only) and at the same time, I feel like it would be a "waste" not to paint or bad to do photo session with unpainted kit. I wish I could get back to times where I would simply add some details or build kits and enjoy them in their out of box form.

Sorry for little stupid rant, I just had to tell someone.
>>
>>11208543
Fully painting a kit is daunting, but at the end of the day these are fairly inexpensive chunks of plastic; there's nothing to feel awful about and realizing that is probably the first step to getting over it. Myself, I've come to accept that despite owning and maintaining stock of all the materials needed to airbrush my kits, snapping them together is my favorite part and I'm rarely going to bother doing more than a topcoat and some decals. That's okay.

You use a separator because the plastic are tightly snapped to each other.
Metal one guarantees that it won't break. Using a plastic separator may work sometimes, but most of the time it will chip or break.

Invest in an airbrush so you can coat things quickly. It's absolutely nicer and less time consuming than brush painting everything.
>>
>>11211196
Im only having my own room and my own desk for work, Im not going to risk spraying anything here. Spray can primers are already problematic as I must go outside for that and its cold and wet for most time of the year here. No, I dont have space for any booth or anything and even if - I dont have any way to set up ventilation. I have real walls, 60cm thick and keeping window open is not good idea when its below zero outside.

I also researched airbrush handling a little and I honestly dont want to dissasamble and clean every part after every color switch.
>>
>>11211376
I've been airbrushing for about a year and a half, and you really don't need to take apart and clear everything per colour. Just put some thinner and backwash a bit, wipe your cup clean and most of the time you're good to go for your next colour, especially if you're painting light to dark. Plus if you get a nice airbrush, they're usually pretty easy to take apart and scrub up when you do wanna give her a full once over.

I just vent my spraybooth out of a window seal like pic related. Also what >>11211382 said. An Iwata airbrush breaks apart and is very easy to clean. You can gargle your airbrush with some lacquer thinner for a few seconds, spray it out, and you are good for the next color.

he's right though, metal tools can gouge plastic if you're too rough while a plastic spudger is basically always gonna be safe
if you wanna be paranoid you can default to plastic and only use the metal part separator for things that are too tight/narrow for the spudger to work
or just be careful i guess

he also sells directly on http://muscuto.com/ and will ship to foreigners, the system is kinda weird though (picrelated) http://muscuto.com/xe/figure/12232
you look through the categories and then fill out a google form with the model numbers, then he emails you back with instructions on how to actually pay through paypal

they're also in a few in person model shops (surprisingly including one outside japan, in taipei)
and as he complains about at the beginning of all his videos there are chinese recasts on aliexpress from SH studio and shit, probably lower quality and take more work to get right (like all recasts) but hey if you're feeling cheap and have the skill for it it's an option.

mostly I would worry about the tolerances/fit being different around parts like the waist joints that are already fragile and easily breakable on the original resin, since recasting leads to small changes in measurements like that
if you've had no problems though that's good news
might be worth it just to avoid the crazy 100 yen = 1 usd conversion rates on his official site
>>
>>11216186
But she have panties, "cute" variant in stripes. Isn't that enough?

If you want, you can always paint her waist area for spats imitation.
>>
>>11216331
had to make both Gourai and Sty-ko without the shimapan stripes because the decals just would. not. wrap. around the plastic despite the solvent I deployed.
so they're wearing pure white panties instead. hmph!
>>

>>11216112
>THIRTEEN thousand japanese yen
I could get a second hand model one for about 3k and still have 10k yen leftover for tools and paints.
>>
>>11216273
>>11216280
On the other hand...
I bought some remolded hair parts from GKM, the tolerances were fine, but unfortunately the there was a gap between the parts so I had to fill it in and forever use that head part with that same face plate.
>>
>>11216270
...Muscuto made a Nao Homare model?
>>
>>11216560
>gap betwen the parts
a gap IS a tolerances problem anon.
the original master had no gap but the recasting process adds measurement errors so something that was originally within like .05mm of the original shape is now within .5mm of the original shape, and that causes the gap to expand by .9mm (numbers all made up for illustration processs)
>>
>>11216626
he has a section on his site for r18 gks
i suppose he only sells them in person and not online or something.
>>
>>11216559
And labor goes......where?
>>
>ignore the shitty super glue this was my sacrificial kit

>>11216749
>a gap IS a tolerances problem anon.
I mean I guess any gap is a tolerance issue, but my head canon that tolerance issues are if the parts don't fit together.
This I'd consider a recasting issue, everything else fits but there wasn't enough resin in one part so now there's a gap.

However if Muscuto still has this particular one in stock I'd buy it from him cause working with GKMs stuff is more effort than I'm willing to put in currently
>>
>>11216983
A lot of the time you can minimize things like that by heating the parts and squeezing them together. Did the boiling water trick not work?
>>
>>11213299
Is the V2 any better than the V1, or is it still fragile as heck?

And speaking of Sigma Sisters Paradox, someone's giving it to Laranel as standard due to it having bladed legs, matching up with her rabbit legs at full power. We'll get a second version in white, and it should come with bladed arms, I feel like.
>>
>>11216999
I can try that on the other kits, this is why I bought multiples. Unfortunately I can't try it with the white one cause it doesn't have this issue.
