Is there another toy that is as customizable as Bionicles?I can't think of any
>>11200744....regular ol' LEGOs?
>>11200747They look square and ugly
>>1120074430ML. Bandai's model kits are pretty modular enough to slap bits around for shiggles, in between in-house off-brand Gundam mecha (with actual licenses for Armored Core), anime waifus you can kitbash, and their current line of knights. Failing that, try looking into Polynian. Or Assemble Borg. They're built around partswapping and good sculpts.
>>11200744There's a ton of ranges all using a standardized 3mm connection nowadays, >>11200765 mentions Bandai's 30 Minute series, Kotobukiya have their Frame Arms, Hexa Gear and various doll lines alongside a metric ton of add on parts with their Modelling Support Goods series.
>>11200747>>11200753All LEGO systems are valid—but the real answer is hybrid builds
>>11200770Adding to that: 3mm ports being so ubiquitous they're an industry standard means you can also get real creative swapping bits around between product lines. You can kitbash up whatever you want with any kit from Bandai/Kotobukiya/what have you (some minor sanding/thickening with glue for fitting aside) all thanks to the humble 3mm peg system. …juuuust remember to sand. Don't wanna be off by a micrometer and accidentally jam a piece in too tight to be popped out without stress marks. Oh, I should also mention that price-wise: > Bandai's 30 Minutes line: Cheaper but still quality, scalpers notwithstanding > Kotobukiya's Frame Arms/Modeling Support Goods: More expensive but still quality, just be careful> Kotobukiya's Hexa Gear: okay these are pricey for tiny 1/18th scale figures, this might not be your cup of tea. Unless you're lucky to find a discounted sale
>>11200744Glyos has surpassed Bionicle >Been active for 17 years>Over 30 different toy companies have used the glyos joint system to make toys>Over 150 different figure molds throughout these that all break down into smaller pieces >Which means thousands of different parts And unlike Lego glyos doesn't feel blocky at all if you're not very adept at it, just a few parts still makes something organic and cool.
>>11200747Th minifigures themselves aren't very customizable.
>>1120074430 Minute Missions kits are basically Bioncles for older people.
>>11200876>GlyosIs Glyos like that Mutant Mayhem Mix and Match parts gimmick?
>>11200940Yeah, but shittier.
>>11200753OP didn't say it needed to be visually appealing. You can't just move the goal post because fpbp.
>>11200753You look square and ugly
>>11200940you can use them like that if you want, but most people prefer to do more complex builds. it's a very open building system, you can do a lot with it.
>>11200744Asoblock, as long as you don't mind a relatively limited color palette
>>11201918How much do I have to spend to build this? Can I not just buy an existing bike?
>>11200753Bionicles largely look like shit, I never got the adult following since I just saw them as Gundam kits for autistic kids.
>>11210532You would have to spend quite a lot, considering this contains parts from at least 9-10 different figures. Also, they try to price things as fairly as they can while still keeping the lights on, but at the end of the day, this is is an indie toyline with very low production numbers. So single figs start at around $10 or so and go up from there depending on size/complexity/paint apps. And no, you can't buy the bike. That's someone's MOC, you would need to reverse-engineer it using photos.
>>11200744Like this anon said >>11200765, Assemble Borg has an incredible range of combinations if you know how to do it.Good luck getting enough sets to build something like pic related though. The current prices are an absolute wallet rape.
