I noticed there was no /stg/ in the catalog, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

I want to encourage my mom to knit me some little plushie now that she's making wool blankets but she never made anything like that before. Any good tutorials out there?

Anyone have any Halloween or fall themed plushies? Here's some of mine. I guess the pumpkins count more as decor than toys though. The vampire Gloomy bear just arrived today.

I'm more familiar with crocheted plush than knitted ones. Try searching "knitted amigurumi"
>>
Hand-stitching the doll crotches feels like some freaky deaky Brad Fulchuck/Ryan Murphy body horror stuff.

>Remember old childhood plush collection
>Find it in the same closet I keep my good ones
>They’re in a decaying scented garbage bag with dryer sheets on top
>Scented chemicals likely been spreading to everything else for the past year I’ve been seriously collecting

Fuck. I have a rare Pokemon plush arriving later today that I spent $50 on and don’t know where else to put it. It was the last new listing with the tag on Ebay too. Also got an entire lot coming from Japan that I can’t find another opportunity to replace if everything goes kaput.
I got rid of the bag and sheets in there but I have a suspicion that something might be lingering
>>

Why are you paying $50 for a plush that you're going to put straight into a wardrobe (which you apparently don't even look in often enough to know what is in there?)

Is this OCD anon?
>>

I've learned a lot from doing these dolls, particularly with how I want to do the hair. Just have to work out a nicer, more cohesive face.
>might help if i actually pre-plan the next lot instead of hamming 'em together as i go

A couple old buddies and a few new acquisitions, like my skunk monster and Cubone for Halloween and the Bear stocking way too early for Christmas.

Also if any anons have some resources to learn sewing, it’d be appreciated. Tried to learn some earlier this year, but couldn’t take to it

>>11218803 - airing plush out is the best way to get smells out, along with Odo-ban is it’s really bad. Had to deal with dryer sheets when mine are in storage and smoke from eBay.

My Dungeon Meshi plush arrived today. Nice fabric and filling feel.
Really struggles to stand on it's own. Not impossible like some, but I should have seen it coming.
7/10.

Yeah, that's me.
I've been trying to keep everything safe in the meantime until I can afford a proper display case.
Something new comes up to get paranoid over and usually sticks in my head for about a week or until I buy another one if the thought doesn't go away.

Currently, the fixation is that I walked passed my collection less than an hour after taking a shower and my pits still smelled obscene. Shit's driving me crazy that anything got "contaminated" but the rational part of me knows they're okay since it can't be any worse than the conditions the mail service puts boxes through, or maybe that's a cope.
Should probably invest in more plastic bins and silica packs

My goal is to have the greatest collection/archive of Oshawott merchandise in the world on par or better than pic related. I think the compulsive fixation started when one arrived in the mail with a dead bug attached to the material and I put it in a tote to quarantine it. Brand new in the original plastic too

Thanks for the tip.
Sounds rough. Really nice Cubone though
>>
>>11227220
How many Oshawott plushies do you own already?

11, but only because I wanted to secure the older rare ones first before worrying about the newest merch that's still commonly available new with tags.
I'd rather have 1 $300 Takara Tomy talking plush over a handful of Jazwares plushies you'd see piled in bins at every Walmart and Gamestop
>>
>>11227294
But if your goal is to break a world record you will need cheap plushies too.
>>
>>11227341
I don't want to buy current shit because it'd feel like taking away options from kids and parents who might also want them. As an adult collector, snatching a handful of toys that are still supposed to be available just feels wrong.

The secondhand market for long retired stuff is fair game though
>>
>>11227725
That's cute and sweet of you, Anon. I wish you good luck with your collection and possible OCD. Also hope we can see pics of your collection someday if you feel comfortable enough sharing them.

How do you guys display your plushes? I'm mostly a figure collector, but I have a few plushes as well. They just don't really lend themselves to being displayed on the shelf the same way a figure or statue does and I'm trying to decide the best way to set them up.
>>
>>11227790
Thanks.
I'd have a bigger collection if I didn't re-buy some but I'm proud of it so far.

Glass case if you can afford one.
I can't atm so everything's still in the Ebay boxes until then

Is $25USD a reasonable cost for international shipping in your opinions?

I'm trying to eat at least some of the international shipping costs to encourage sales but it still feels too high.
>>
>>11234150
They just sit on a corner of my desk. Nothing special.
>>11235613
If it's the typical 2-3 day shipping. That's usually around what I pay when I import video games or figures.
>>
>>11235613
Yeah seems about right, custom duties are cancer tho

The top is cheap modular shelving off Amazon, the bottom a random bookshelf I had. Solid bookshelves work better if they’re shallower or taller shelves than what I have here

this shelf is so nostalgic, i love it
