Still no word on if or when Nanmu is gonna do a Kong to go along with V. rex, but it probably won't be any time soon since they're working on Indominus and have teased that the project after it is the JP3 Spino

You do know a good chunk of Godzilla films basically do all of those things and they tend to usually intend said film to be stand alone. The only Godzilla Series to basically say it's a sequel and runs with it the entire course was the Heisei era of films.

no idea, Toho is very weird about what they want to go hard on and what they don't/.

It was a convention exclusive, so it sold out really fast. I don't really think Hiya figures are worth $80, but I'm glad I managed to get my pre-order with INS Hobby before is sold out and people started scalping it for insane prices.
>>11220161
Kyle from Super 7 confirmed that Toho wouldn't let them include a beam because of the raised spines. If they want to do an atomic breath version it has to be a retracted spines version. It's basically the same reason why the SHMA atomic breath version doesn't have raised spines. Toho is being super particular about Minus One Goji for some reason.
>>11220170
yeah, the segments are too long and already preposed. I know they changed the joint at the base of the neck, so i was hoping that they might do other stuff to fix the articulation.

>Are they a good site for Hiya stuff?
I think so. This is the first time I've ever ordered from them. I used to get my Hiya figures from Gundamit, but then they started up charging massively for no apparent reason, so I started getting them from Awesome Collector and BBTS, but because Diamond handles all of Hiya's shipping in the US the figures are always months later than they should be. I'm hoping that INS will be my go to from now on, but I'm not a fan of their shipping rates so I might just end up sticking with Awesome Collector even if it means getting the figures later than I'd like.

NTA but historically similar products have not held up over time. Shit always tears or fails in some way. Now maybe someone has finally "solved" the issue but you wouldn't really know until one had been in the wild for a decade or more. To me it's also kind of an answer to a question no one is asking. Companies keep trying to do this for some reason and it always fails. If you don't like seams get a statue. If you want a pose-able figure seams are just a part of that aesthetic.

Also does anyone know how to be placed into a medically induced coma for free? I want to sleep until Hiya Miregoji drops.

>>
>>11221173
Godzilla's spines retract back into his body when he fires the beam. The Super7 version has the extended spikes so he can't be depicted with a beam effect. The SHMA has a beam because Bandai didn't have the spikes extended.

This one on the official JP Godzilla youtube. There may be another one out there like they did last year, when things start rolling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-y9dzKixzY
I'm hoping we see the 5 winners as figures, along with some never before seen MMS reveals.
>>
>>11221261
If anything, the limited articulation is a problem with seamless figures in general. But Iirc it's a full armature underneath. I might get it because it's cheaper then X-plus and the arm and leg rotation have space to move unlike Mezco's 1954 seamless which has the skin covering the whole thing like a glove.
>>
>>11221263
>I'm hoping we see the 5 winners as figures, along with some never before seen MMS reveals.
They will be shown off no doubt considering Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla molds were already made before they were announced as winners (The PB blue promo ghidorah figure and the 5 inch mechagodzilla figure they released a few months ago.) Although I doubt we will get any more shadow drops like we did last year unless the leaker guy only covered the figures G-Store wanted to show off before the event started.

New Godzilla THE Art figure, Vol.4
It is a recolor of the 1968 figure interestingly
Hmm....
>>

Think the one leaker mentioned the 1971 Godzilla would be getting a MMS release, guess he meant the 1968 suit in general getting an reissue.
>>
>>11221568
Guess this is the closest thing Bandai will ever do in terms of making a Godzilla figure in Imperial colors.
>>
>>11221529
The Yakudou series is the "specific iconic poses" line. The Destroyah tease is for a different line which we don't know anything about yet outside of it being "giga."

Am I the only one pissed off about Gabara not being accurate? Aside from XPLUS the old Y•MSF is still the best one (the new one sucks ass too)

HOLY FUARKING BASED. GIMME VARAN, GIMME BARAGON, GIMME GOROSAURUS.
>>
>>11221775
Oh, I'm of the "Sweet, two cakes!" mentality, too, I just thought it was an oddly specific beat to try and replicate, especially since GvsK portrayed Kong with a type of vulnerability Toho usually doesn't with its kaiju.

>Mechagodzilla 74 has no articulation on the legs and seems to already be suffering warpage. Which the now 22 year old 75 Mechgodzilla had leg articulation
>Gabera basically just a carbon copy of Legendary Kong
>King Ghidorah's wings squished so it could fix into the box and is also not articulated
>Kamacaras has articulated parts on every leg and arms
Yeah think we now know the real winner this ballot was

No Gemstone movie was a let down. They should have saved some of the reveals leading up for the day of.
>new Godzilla movie announced literally the day before
>shadow drop 5 new figures a couple weeks before
>several other figures were just leaked, weren't shown off in the event yet uploaded to the store along with other merchandise
Maybe they were rushed for time? Or other announcements were happening not shown on the big screen? It was weird. At least they didn't spend like 2 hours recording people meeting Gigan and Godzilla this time.
>>11221792
I had to do a double-take on him. The strange thing is I think it is pretty accurate (besides the chest colors). I'm so used to seeing the old Y-MSF figure that my first instinct was
>Hey this isn't Gabara! What did they do to Gabara?
But then looking at pictures of him online and me not seeing that movie in years- I think they did a fairly good job of capturing his likeness.
>>
>>11221176
No, they retract while he's charging. They pop back out at the moment of release... which is when the beam effect would be used.

You know what, I'm OP and after seeing it in the left side picture I must say it's a good figure, it's really accurate, it just looks like he has a giant ass in the promo shots. As I said, If I didn't own already a KG figure and a Gabara one I'd be picking up the box, I'm not specially fond of either Mechagodzilla or Kamacuras.

I made an image showing all the upcoming Bandai Movie Monster Series figures. I think I captured them all.
The Godzilla Minus One 5" figure seems to be out? I didn't add that to the list. There maybe other smaller 5" scale figures coming too that I'm not aware of.
This image will probably be outdated by the end of the week- Tomorrow night we should get more info. on the P-Bandai Jet Jaguar. I'm guessing/hoping it will show up on AmiAmi, BBTS, HLJ, etc. or wherever else sells P-Bandai exclusive items for us foreigners.

I can't find a picture of it off-hand, but there was, yeah. It came out along with one of the newer Hedorah figures a few years ago. It was just the 1968 figure painted darker.
>>
>>11222340
Yeah, I've decided - I'm getting this. Looks too cool to pass up.
>>
>>11222453
I mean, not specifically labeled as such, but the 1972 suit is also the 1968 suit, which does have MMS figures.
>>
>>11222539
>>11222548
Hopefully not a stupid question: Online it says they used the same suit for the 1968, 1969, 1971, and 1972 movies. Is it literally the exact same suit, or did they make modifications to it in each movie (changed the face, etc.)? Kind of like how the 1973, 1974, and 1975 suits are all slightly different from each other, even though its otherwise the same suit?
>>
>>11222557
I think they may have repainted and repaired it when necessary, but otherwise, yeah, it's basically the same suit. There aren't any noticeable changes to it like there are with '73/'74/'75.
>>
I found footage of someone going to the Bandai booths during the Godzilla 70th Anniv. even yesterday. They show some closer shots of some of the figures and such.

>>11222573
Ah, that makes sense- thanks!
I found a cool website that talks about the suit differences and stuff too:
During the event they mentioned the Fake Godzilla suit in the 1974 movie was used for a different purpose and re-purposed for the movie. I didn't know that either. Hope we get a MMS of the Fake Godzilla that's slightly more accurate than the previous one we got in the past. Nothing wrong with the one in the past, just would be nice to have it readily available. A re-release of the original one would be neat too!

So I just went and saw the rerelease of Minus One earlier tonight, and I had this discussion in mind when the atomic breath sequence came up. Godzilla's fins glow and extend, but then when he fires his ray, they go back down but also continue glowing. So honestly, including a beam accessory with this particular figure could go either way. Yes, the fins aren't extended when he fires his ray, but they are still glowing when he does. So... whatever. It's super picky.

So who are the remaining heavy hitters left from Showa? Megalon and King Caesar?

Sure there is Rodan, Ghidorah and Mothra but they were done already in their Heisei designs...not super excited for those.

This leaves the B and C listers, 62 Kong, Kamaracus (a praying mantis..), Kumonga (a spider..), Ebirah (a lobster..), Gabara, Minya, Titanosaurus..

Then the cameo monsters: Varan, Manda, Gorosaurus, Baragon..

Honestly Baragon is top tier, always was my favorite. IMO, Megalon, King Caesar, Baragon and Rodan (I guess) are the next big 4.

Showa Rodan and Ghidorah look radically different from their Heisei counterparts and have considerably larger fanbases than Angirus so them getting figures is a given. The question is if they are gonna use the good Rodan 1956 design or the ugly 1964 design. Mothra's also a given because she's one of the "Big 5". Megalon and Minya are probably the only other "guaranteed" Showa monsters since Megalon has consistently sold a lot of merch and Minya is a small enough character that they can probably do a combo with either a Godzilla or larval Mothra from 68.
As much as I want Titanosaurus and King Caesar, I really am skeptical that Bandai would put the money into tooling figures that will not sell well at all and will as a result have to be pretty expensive because of their more limited production runs.
>62 Kong
Kong is 100% not a C lister. If it weren't for his rights being tied up with Universal, Toho and Bandai would happily have already done a King Kong figure, but unless something massive changes with Universal we're never getting an official 1962 King Kong

>>11223054
>Gorosaurus is more than a cameo,

>>
>>11223138
Tooling is probably around 50,000-60,000 for one of these, and a run of 5,000 would probably cost around $100,000 on the high end for actual production. Any way you slice it there's still close to $200,000 in profit at minimum.

From a strictly economic view, Mostly good. Trump loves Japan and won't be putting new tariffs on them, inflation won't be as bad, and real wages will rise because 15 million serfs will deported forcing employers to pay Americans real wages for those jobs. Also the war in Ukraine ends so the Russians will stop supporting the Houthis in Yemen which will drive down the price of shipping insurance.

The US has been teetering on the brink of recession for 6 months which could blow all these indicators up if it does slip into one, but Wall Street has been incredibly green since Trump won so it looks like they have confidence that the economy won't implode.

I think you have to balance out the time you put into things with how noticeable the flaws will be, because sometimes you spend 2/3 hours doing something that in the end won't be that much of a deal, specially if it's something for yourself like in this case, so I think you're absolutely right.

Yep! They're on Cults3D, It costs 2€ (sorry mates, I've put a lot of time on it and still I think it's pretty cheap) and it comes with two sets of files. More posability overall isn't always great. SHMA Godzillas tend to have issues with tail tips or hands popping off in my experience. Still I'm more worried about the eyes.

When I was a kid, my absolute favorite toy was the Bandai DX transforming Moguera. Now I have the Monsterarts reissue and I love it so much too. It's fun, seeing how much articulation they were able to fit into Moguera's design. If Monsterarts wants to do a Land Moguera/Star Falcon set, I'll hop right on that.
>>
>>11228504
feel like if they were going to do it, it would have come with this set... a chogokin version that actually combines would be really cool too, though I imagine its not a popular enough design to ever happen
>>
>>11228399
You're ghey
>>
>>11228113
Should be. But the aftermarket prices won't be really any higher than the figure itself. Say since last few P-Bandai MMS figures saw (like the Eva Mechagodzillas) are almost the same price retail on Ebay as it was on Bandai's site.
>>
>>11226968
so amazon wont get him since he's web exclusive?
>>
>>11229364
no, Amazon will have it.
All web exclusives get brought over for normal releases in America. The Atomic breath Minus Goji is a convention raffle exclusive which is not the same as a web exclusive which is why it isn't getting an American release unfortunately. But Anguirus we be available on any American site.
>>
>>11222803
It showed up today. The tip of the horn on the helmet and the fins on the knees were slightly bent (in typical X-Plus fashion) but they were easy to fix.
What I'm really struggling with is the positioning of the halo. I think I got it to look decent, but I might play with it some more tomorrow. It's a little awkward with the way it sits right up against the shoulder fin. Honestly it looks pretty good even without the halo though.
>>
>>11230236
Here's some more pictures. Maybe you can tell a little better what I mean about the halo position being awkward.
I really love the way they did the spines and Godzilla back parts. It looks great.

Absolutely mogs the soft detailing of the Hiya.
>>
>>11234178
The suit didn't have the excessive detailing that Sakai slaps on the figures, the HIYA's "soft" detailing is just suit-accurate.

This looks pretty sweet. I wonder if/when they'd do a Megaguirus. He's one of my favorite "one-shot" monsters.

>>11234197
I like the extra detail. It looks cooler while still maintaining the overall same design of the movie suit. At a glance, you can tell which Goji it is. For me the extra detail just makes it look better up close, which is more important than autistically conforming to the exact scale textures of the suit, which was made to look good on screen.

Wonderful job Bandai, perfect timing on that.
What is funny is they either had it ready to go this whole time or rushed to sculpt it in order to compete with Hiya.

Really? You think that neck and head look better? Lmao look how soft the Figurearts looks compared to how sharp the Hiya looks. The head to neck transition is also way better on the Hiya. Looks almost like a statue. Figure arts does have better back fin paint.

I always loved this guy. I just wish there had been other monsters, either from Toho or Imperial originals, to go along with him. I guess technically there was the Imperial King Kong, but he was weirdly out of scale with the Godzilla, too small for the big Godzilla and too big for the small Godzilla. Why would you make Godzilla and King Kong figures and make it so you can't have them fight each other?
>>
>>11235534

the hiya looks better. the SHMA has a too thin of a neck here. Also the finish on the SHMA looks too crusty/dried. almost dusty look. the hiya looks better with it's smooth dull finish.
>>
>>11235860
Just like the shma better. Better materials, better articulation.
>>
>>11234222
That was my first SHMA and Final Wars Gigan was shortly after. I will be buried with them. Best of luck, anon!
>>
What's the Super7 Minus One figure like? Is it any good at all? The charged spine version looks kind of neat, but I'm hesitant.
>>
>>11236522
I dont know if it will have been fixed with the charge version, but the barbell joint at the base of the tail is too short to plug in properly so it falls off easily and doesnt articulate well. The rest of the tail is has a better range of motion than their previous Godzillas but it's still pretty limited, especially when compared to the SHMA. The sculpt is pretty good, except for the teeth and the hard plastic lower body which very soft in the sculpted detail. The articulation in the legs is good, but dont expect any really dynamic poses. The softer plastic they used is very low quality, probably to try and keep the cost down, and as a result it gets damaged very easily. The hips and shoulders of mine have already started to turn green as a resault of normal articulation and that is consistent in both the minus color and normal version which probably means it will be the same in the charge up version.
All and all, I'm not sure I can fully recommend the Super7 figure, but I will be buying the charge up version since I am not paying $200 for the SHMA convention exclusive on the aftermarket
