Was there ever a reason that Hasbro never made a female for their special sub teams back in the original run?No female in Python Patrol, Sky Patrol, Tiger Force, Night Force, Slaughter’s Marauders, Mega Marines, Eco Warriors, D.E.F., Iron Grenadiers or even Battleforce 2000?The only one we got was Scarlett in Ninja Force. And not even Jinx got a new figure in that line.
>>11219651Women stayed in the kitchen back then. Not until the movie ironically named G.I. Jane did women enter the collective consciousness as frontline combat fighters.
>>11219651There was chun li in the street fighter series but i dont think that counts. Any women in star brigade?
Kids don't want to play with female characters wtf you guys smoking? It's not until adulthood and having had sex that I want more (sexy) female characters.
>>11219651I think the only example is the Baroness from the aborted Battle Rangers line.
>>11219686No females in Star Brigade either.>>11219710Wasn’t Battle Rangers just another name for the basic main line of it continued in 1995?
I’m surprised they didn’t have Iron Grenadiers Baroness at the time
>>11219699Then explain the Scarlet, Covergirl, Baroness, Lady Jaye, Zatanna and Jinx figures of the early to mid-80a.
Wow, another stimulating discussion about women in toys. Wake me up for the next thread, this one is already ruined.
>>11219788If you want to talk about something else, then post it.No one’s stopping you.The file cards for the Trench Viper came out.
>>11219699Jynx was awesome though. >>11219788And your bitching is contributing what exactly? Would you like walls of text like the last thread or perhaps some pointless arguement between two bots? I think the operation moon figure i got is pretty cool, have you heard of the line? I dont believe there are any females in that series so it should be safe to discuss.
>>11219777G.I. Joe as a franchise was built on the idea of diversity. Females and PoC were a part of the franchise from the first few years even during the 12" run. The sub-teams were all ways to resell popular molds and characters without just straight re-releases, which retailers weren't fond of. But the female characters were never the best sellers, so there wasn't much of a push to get them included in the teams. While the initial run was essentially a wild shotgun blast of ideas trying to appeal to as much as the market as possible, the repaints were more focuses "best-sellers" designed with a profit first mindset.
>>11219812Then why not also make new female figures for the lines like Iron Grenadiers and Sky Patrol?
>>11219816did you even read the second paragraph?
>>11219812The fact that they didn’t make a NightForce Jinx in 1988, while other 1987 Joes like Psyche-Out and Crazy Legs got NightForce repaints, is hilarious to me. She’s literally a ninja.
I think they were counting on making Pythona for Cobra-La in 1988 but the movie’s reception caused it to be nixed like other Cobra-La toys in 1988.
Hasbro really needs to make some more Marines characters.
Speaking of females. I need a Classified figure of this chick pronto.
>>11219827Cobra-La was such a blunder. Even as a kid I found the movie really boring and stupid. The only thing I liked was the intro and Slaughter's Marauders.
>>11219788Super7 already ruined the line
>>11219831It's too bad the Marine Corps are such assholes about their logo and everything these days. No GI Joe Marines can even look like they're Marines anymore because of that.
>>11219857What about the female Marine sniper that just came out?
>>11219860Nothing about her uniform of weapons are Marine accurate even her camo is army camo
>>11219856In what form? I don't collect 6inshit but I thought their figures were pretty accurate to the source.
>>11219865I know it's not a realistic franchise in any sense, but it does bother me that nobody on the team seems to know anything about actual military regalia or weaponry. It can't be that expensive to consult a few real world vets for feedback and advice.
>>11219870They couldn't bother to do an actual pilot for the 60th Anniversary Action Pilot, expecting them to research the difference between MARPAT, Scorpion OCP and MultiCam is probably a bridge too far. Or that, while real, a double-barrel AR is still fucking dumb.
>>11219686>chun li in the street fighter seriesClassified Street Fighter x G.I. Joe figures when?
>>11219893Pretty sure they lost the license 30 years ago
>>11219843Agreed, mostly because we need more female Cobra characters. I'd also love to see Raven, Munitia, Dr Knox and Mistress Armada added to the line. >>11219853Same, and the ass pull at the end of Duke surviving off screen always felt off, even as a kid. The opening is still one of the greatest pieces of animation of all time though, but the rest of the movie is pretty forgettable. >>11219860>>11219865They should've just called her an Army Sniper. I know they wanted to rep the Marines, but nothing about her is even close to accurate, and Marines don't even have female Snipers, but the Army does. Still a cool figure though. >>11219892That AR is one of the most ridiculous weapons I've ever seen. I mean, it would've been great on some garish over teched Cobra grunt, but for your homage to real world soldiers, why not just use the basic AR molds you've already used on other figures?>>11219893I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen this happen yet. If Transformers can crossover with Street Fighter, why not actively roll out updated versions of the original Joe v SF figures. They wouldn't step on Jada's toes since they'd never make those versions of these guys, and they already have most of the molds needed for the figures.
>>11219899Hasbro did a SF x Power Ranger last year. The only thing holding back GI Joe collab is they haven't done the rest of Ninja Force yet. Barlog is free game though. Guile Ehonda and Dhalsim, just get the JADA Figs.
>>11220063Also Crimson Asp, Heartwrencher, Zanya, Evy female Range Viper, Nightstalkers, Stiletto. Or any new female they can create for Cobra.
>>11219827>>11219853As much as i dislike the story for Cobra La, i'd still love to see more figures made. They're pretty damn cool designs and need to be produced.Pic of official Hasbro customs.
>>11220412what a great sectaur figure
>>11219651Lady Jaye was retroactively added to Night Force.
>>11219651I think Hasbro largely gave up on doing female characters after 1987 (Jinx was the last female figure of the classic line until the Ninja Force Scarlet and Vypra, the later of which IIRC was a mail in figure and a lazy repaint of Jinx at that). That said, a new Baroness figure was planned and a prototype made that would have come out in the 1994/1995 wave had the line not been canceled. And when they did revive the line, they did make a huge point to have Lady Jaye and Baroness be part of the first assortment. But I think one of the main issues is that Hasbro would prefer only having one Joe female and one Cobra female and those being Scarlett and Baroness respectively.
>>11220543Jinx was retroactively added to Tiger Force
>>11220605Vypra was at least in Toys R Us back in 1998
>>11220126Nig Boa?
>>11220687The guy in the pic is Balrog (aka M Bison in Japan; as three of the four main bosses in SF2 had different names in Japan). He's a corrupt boxer who works for Shadowloo as an assassin who basically beats people to death with his fists. He's basically Evil Mike Tyson, which is why they had to reshuffle everyone's names in the US version of SF2 as in Japan, M. Bison is the black boxer, Vega is the guy in the red military uniform, and Balrog is the guy with the bear claw and face mask.
>>11219767That's something I didn't understand. Did the Baroness go off with Destro or remain loyal to Cobra?
>>11220706She stayed with Cobra, because she was the only person who knew what CC looked like under his mask and used that to leverage Fred into becoming her ally against Serpentor and Mindbender, both of which hated her and were slowly replacing her with Zarana. Destro and Baroness I should also note, had broken up around this time as they had a huge fight during the evacuation of Springfield in #50 when Baroness point blank told Destro that she wanted him to help her kill CC during the evac and use the chaos to basically become the new leader of Cobra. Destro told her she was an honorless cunt whom didn't know Destro at all as far as him refusing to stab CC in the back after pledging his services to him. Then CC and Destro got separated from Cobra and Destro had to get GI Joe to help him oust Major Bludd from his castle. IIRC the Cobra Civil War story, the only reason GI Joe got involved is that Destro promised to have the Iron Grenadiers stay neutral in exchange for them rescuing Baroness from Serpentor and Mindbender. Afterwards, Baroness turned down an offer to join the Grenadiers and stayed with Cobra until the events of the Snake Eyes trilogy and Destro basically retiring until the Destro trilogy (116-118) which had them come out of retirement and their subsequent brainwashing at the end of the series.
>>11220717Huh... now I know!
>>11220412Looks like a bunch of shit thrown and glued together.
I doubt we’ll ever get Mega Marines Classified.
>>11220908I really want a robo joe though. Next year id gonna be a slow year for classified so why not develop the figures, atleast on paper.
>>11220932Friend, a slow year is just the start, get ready for either a full death of the line or something in the way of Super7 Roll outs of 8 a year at best.
We still haven’t gotten most of the main Joes like Mainframe, Sci-fi, Iceberg, Wet-Suit, Airtighy
>>11221125>Mainframe, Sci-fi, Iceberg, Wet-Suit, Airtighy>main joes
>>11221127They are.Moreso than guys like Charbroil, Repeater, Salvo, Sgt Hacker, and Ice Cream Soldier
>>11220908I need a mega marines Clutch. He was my guy growing up.
>>11220876That's literally what most customs are. >>11220908I know I'd love em, but I really doubt that would happen. There's so many original ARAH figures left to go and I doubt Classified will ever finish them off either. >>11221125I like the optimism, but it's a stretch to call any of those guys "main joes". Would still love to see any of em though, the more Classified we get the better.
>>11220717>her ally against Serpentor and Mindbender, both of which hated her and were slowly replacing her with Zarana.IIRC there's one issue of Special Missions where Serpentor has had enough of Zarana and the Baroness bickering, but he didn't really seem to have an particular problem with Baroness or Zartan until they threw in with Fred, ousting him from the leadership position and propping up a fraud for their own gain.>Afterwards, Baroness turned down an offer to join the Grenadiers and stayed with Cobra until the events of the Snake Eyes trilogy and Destro basically retiring until the Destro trilogy (116-118) which had them come out of retirement and their subsequent brainwashing at the end of the series. After the Cobra Civil War, the Baroness told Destro that 'Cobra Commander' was an imposter, Destro would later use this as leverage to take control of Cobra for a while, until the real Cobra Commander returned.>>11221125Is Sci-Fi the only guy left who was in some of the early Classified upcoming figure roster images but still hasn't been made?
Man, just found out my childhood GI Joe hero Sgt Slaughter is fucking Trumper MAGAT. Why, wtf sarge. You were suppose to be a Real American Hero, not a J6-er. FUCK!
>>11221436Shut the fuck up
>>11221436So sad.
Sgt Slaughter needs his variant uniforms.Hard to believe most people didn't know he was America's #1 enemy for years.
>>11221592Matty did traitor Slaughter years ago. Last I checked he was still cheap to grab because overproduced. They also did Sheik's character, but lack Gen Adnan to finish the Triangle of Terror
SGT Slaughter never served in the military, and was a draft dodger.
>>11219651Hasbro never really liked female figures. Larry Hama, Jim Shooter and the guys at Marvel always fought with the toy company to get the ladies out. Baroness made her figure appearance three years after her comic book appearance.>>11219788Bro you gay>>11219824Hasbro will forever make dumb decisions.>>11219843Shes so hot, would fit immediately the Classified aesthetic.
>>11220706>>11220717>>11221435All of this reminded me that Zarana got a shit ton of power over Cobra during this time, only being thwarted by Destro and the Baroness. I think Zarana is a pretty cool character. Way more evil and ambitious than her brothers.
>>11222002I pretty much have a female Cobra Command set up replacing the males of Cobra.Cobra Commander = BaronessZartan = ZaranaMajor Bludd = Crimson AspDr Mindbender = Dr KnoxStormshadoe = VypraFirefly = MunitaSerpentor = PythonaCrimson Twins with Extensive Enterprises = Chameleon with Hydra TechnologiesWild Weasel = RavenThrasher = HeartwrencherWith Stiletto taking Baroness old position of Intelligence and Zanya taking Copperhead ‘s spot as Water Moccasin driver.Still need a Mistress Armada to replace Destro of the Iron Grenadiers
>>11221595Its a pretty nice figure too, i gota package deal with him, polka dot dusty and chainsaw charlie for about $30. Top notch toy line if you ask me.
>>11221983retard
>>11221983wait till you find out how many of his matches were fixed too
>>11221127>>Mainframe, Sci-fi, Iceberg, Wet-Suit, Airtighy>>main joesIceberg, Wet-Suit and Airtight were HUGE on the cartoon. I just really hope Wet-Suit has a removable helmet/SCUBA gear, and isn't just a Torpedo repaint.
>>11220126I'm absolutely gonna get some GI Joe trigger grip hands for my Guile figure so he can hold guns.
>>11222045That's a badass setup
Since Heavy Duty basically looks like he's cosplaying as a mech, I think he'd look great if we just went all the way and gave him some mecha legs that his weapon rig could hook into and then he doesn't have to carry around 300 pounds of weapons, armor and ammo with just his legs and back.
>>11222607That would be cool, would defeat the purpose of me having War Machine as a Joes member, but cool regardless
>>11222607Classified D Walker when
>>11222625Gridiron's Trouble Bubble legs kit is kind of in that territory. I actually kind of love the way it looks, I might buy it, although an acrylic flight stand would also be a good option.
>>11222639I hope they make a version for the Python Bubbles. I picked up four of them for like $25 each for the Televipers, but making them into a pod-bot entity seperate from the flying bubbles would be cool.
>>11222666Yeah, that would be cool. If it were me and i didn't have a pre-made option I might just get the regular ones and repaint them myself.
I dont know if it will be fufilled but i was able to order a tiger paw off of target just now. It was $41 after the coupon.
>>11222045>>11222605Undertow Officer is a black female. You could use that to replace Destro as head of Iron Grenadiers
These aren’t in order but my prediction for the next Classified Joes from each they were introduced:1982: Flash (after retro Rock N Roll)1983: only Ace is left, so him by default1984: blowtorch (confirmed)1985: Airtight1986: Wet Suit1987: Law & Order (confirmed)1988: Muskrat1989: Recoil1990: Ambush1991: Tracker1992: Bullet-Proof1993: Bushido1994: Joe Colton
>>11222581Trying to find some gripping hands for Dhalsim so he can hold a some of the Ninja weapons.
>>11224149You might have luck with some WWE figures. A lot of them have very bronze looking skin that is close to Dhalsim's skin tone and the hands should be about the right size.
My $45 accessory for Sgt Slaughter arrived today.
>>11223407Man I hope so, I need Flash so much and they've been teasing him since the Dragonfly got announced.
Yeah.
Dragonflies are starting to ship out.
Has anyone gotten the shipping notifications for Dragonfly yet? Hasblo has been dragging their fucking feet on telling me when they ship shit, I recently ordered some MArvel legends and Joes from them and have never got a shipping notice till after it showed up to my house.
>>11225665They shipped the UK ones first and people already have them in hand over there. As far as i know, there's been no movement in the US yet, based solely on mine not moving.
>>11225698Kind of lame UK is getting it first. I had ordered the Blackheart Wave of Marvel Legends and they dragged sending them to me and then dragged giving me an update on shipping till after it showed up at my house.
Hi everyone, I hope your Dragonflies arrive soon.I was cleaning my shelves when a question poped-up in my head:Why is it that Scrap-Iron wasn't a member of the Iron Grenadiers if he's supposed to be Destro's weapon designer?I mean, iirc, he was kind of Cobra Commander's bestie, but what about Hama's run? He just kind of stops appearing after offing Ripcord's girlfriend and never came back for Destro's army. He's definitely an IG in m shelf, but is there an actual canon explanation?
>>11219788>NEEDS to discuss women in toys>comes to 4chanEveryone is calling you faggot, which is true, but not many have noticed that you are also clearly retarded. Go. Back.
>>11219699>Kids don't want to play with female charactersFucking TRUE no matter how badly people want to fucking White Knight and Fart Huff. This has been PROVEN over and over and over in literal play test studies done by every fucking toy company>>11219777>Then explain FEMALE FIGURES EXISTING ARK ARK ARK I'M SO HECKIN' SMAHT!!!!Look into what an "outlier" is, kid. None of those were heavily packed in case assortments in the 80's. A toys existence does NOT mean that kids are fucking scrambling to play with it. George Lucas had to literally DEMAND that Kenner make Princess Leia because they expressly said they didn't want to in 1977. >>11219812>essentially a wild shotgun blast of ideas trying to appeal to as much as the market as possible,There you go.I'm SO fucking tired of retards and zoomers thinking that because a thing existed it was highly in demand. That's the most retarded low IQ opinion to pull out of your own ass.
>>11220840AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!!!!The other half is
violence
>>11221436A Real American Hero would want to Make America Great Again. Imagine falling for propaganda that's thinner than the shit Cobra pulled in a fucking cartoon.
>>11222045For army building troopers you should have a squadron of Cobra YWNBAWs
>>11225784A Real American Hero already thinks America is great, that's why he fights for freedom wherever there's trouble.
>>11225820It was so brave when he enlisted all those times to help our boys fight.
>>11225842So brave to die in the middle east
>>11225784It just disheartens me that Sarge would worship a pedo and rapist.
>>11225777Stop calling me kid and zoomer anon. I’m a Gen X’er
I got my shipping notice for the dragonfly, it's about a day away. Anyone planning on mounting it with fishing line to look like its in flight or are yall going to put it up on the shelf.
So I got tired of not seeing any new Joes at retail and decided to give the Super 7 line a try since God knows they are at least releasing stuff slower and have a lot more accessories than the Hasbro line. Picked up loose versions of Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes. Some thoughts: Cobra Comander: Pros: lots of gears and his gloved hands are compatible with Snake Eyes (who's bare hand status is an affront to my tastes in costume)Cons: the striped helmet was loose as hell on his head joint. I put the non-striped head on him and it holds a bit better. Snake Eyes: Pros: nice sold figure with none of the head related problems CC had. Cons: bare hands (thankfully the CC spare hands fit his hand joint holes) and garbage accessories. Thinking about getting some more Super7 figures, mainly Crimson Guardsman, Destro, Baroness, and Cobra Trooper. Get the Cobra figures from the line since they have their classic looks.
>>11226235Super7s TMNT figures left a really bad taste in my mouth. They're perpetually on sale, too. BBTS has a bunch on sale right now for around 50% off. They have Destro and the B.A.T.s on sale, and I considered picking them up, but I still can't bring myself to do it.
>>11226242I got the ultimate commander last year for super cheap, its pretty decent and looks good. It doesnt fit in with classified and like anon says, his head is crazy loose. But if you want a cartoon styled commander you cant go wrong with a s7 ultimate.
>>11226242I have three Turtles Super7s (April O'Neil, Casey Jones, and Mutagen Man) and they are all good. Also have the Red Ranger S7 figure who's pretty decent.
The chief stumbling blocks for Super7 is that they cost $55 a pop, has a super small character selection, take forever to come out, and bad quality control (the fucked up head sculpts for Flint and Lady Jaye being most notable). But mostly, to be frank, the price is the biggest stumbling block. I know a lot of stores just won't fucking carry them because they cost too much and don't work as an impulse buy like Classified does.
>>11226408Yeah. No store where I live carries them because no one wants to spend $20 for a Reaction figure or $60 for figure that costs $25 if you buy the Hasbro version.
>>11226405I bet mutagen man looks awesome, id really enjoy getting their wingnut but im not getting it unless its on sale since i dont collect turtles.
>>11226408Missing out on Snarf, plus being a Real Ghostbusters fag and seeing those $200 figures Mondo is doing for the same articulation, has me reconsidering waiting on any Super7 figure I actually do want
>>11226235>bare handsretard
Thinking about getting Super7 Red Jackal and Rednok.Do they plan on doing Canary Ann?
>>11226408Knowing the line may well be over is the big thing. I know we will see many of the figures we got rereleased as deluxes which certainly could help flint/lady jaye's heads but other than that I have serious doubts we're going to see much in the way of new characters, and we didn't get all of cobra high command or all of the core joes; they didn't even get around to snake eyes in his normal outfit.
>>11221592Is there a smaller base he can move to when they don't sell out the Pit?
>>11225741Different things in different continuities, and Scrap-Iron was usually a pretty minor character. His first filecard says "it is believed" that he worked for Destro, but the comics and cartoons in the 80s never did anything to connect them. In the Marvel comic he doesn't appear much after killing Ripcord's girlfriend and the Soft Master because they just had newer characters to promote, his only noteworthy moment after that was being on Serpentor's side in the Cobra Civil War, and he was probably too low down in the Cobra hierarchy to know for sure that it wasn't the real Cobra Commander leading the other side.In the cartoon his biggest role is in the 5-part serial 'Arise Serpentor, Arise!', where he's the only Cobra who stayed loyal to Cobra Commander after everyone else turned against him and backed Mindbender's plan to create a new leader, even Cobra Commander's personal bodyguards sided with Mindbender's cabal. That's where people got the idea of Scrap-Iron being Cobra Commander's friend from, but the cartoon made it clear Scrap-Iron's loyalties are paid for, Mindbender was able to bribe him into betraying Cobra Commander, who later pays him to switch sides again, the dude's totally mercenary.IIRC Scrap-Iron being connected to Destro actually got used in something for the first time during the Devil's Due comic era, where he ended up on Destro's side during his attempt to take over Cobra. With the toys, when Hasbro were pushing the Iron Grenadiers as Destro's own faction, they focused on creating new characters to be on his team, rather than new versions of Cobras who might have made sense joining him.
I got my chopper in today, I love this goddamn thing. The stand feels a bit weak, but the dragonfly itself is solid.
>>11226945Fuck, man...mine's coming tomorrow and I have no clue where I'm putting the fucker.

>>11227838>>11227849>>11227853Kinda regret not backing it. I was only really interested in Glenda, but now I'm wanting the rest of the characters as well. Not sure how viable it'd be to grab it second hand and sell off the copter.
So, was air cav cosplaying as mounted cavalry actually a thing or was Hasbro just referencing Apocalypse Now with Wild Bill?
>>11227886You'd probably be better off just buying Glenda than getting the whole package and trying to sell everything else off.
>>11227938>>11227886I'll add that Glenda's probably the weakest part of the package imo. I don't know how I never noticed that the retro Scarlett body can't bring its legs forward in a standard 90 degree bend. She's hell to get into the choppah. Also the wire for the laser rifle sucks.
>>11227910Almost definitely the latter.
>>11227910Cav Stetsons were a big thing with scout pilots in Vietnam. That is most certainly where the designers got it, thought they went all the way back to the blue ones of the 19th century cavalry.
So the parts the tailfins and ports they connect to on the Dragonfly, are they supposed to be identical to eachother? Either my copy had two left tailfins or one of the parts they connect to was assembled incorrectly. Either way I had to do in there and do some dangerous, plastic stressing prying to open stuff to fix the connection part at least by flipping it and ended up cutting my thumb.>the copter still looks good in the end, though.
>>11228007They seemed identical to me.
>>11226907Adding to my own post, I forgot to mention the other big reason Hasbro never added Scrap-Iron to the Iron Grenadiers faction; they created Metal-Head instead, and he's basically got the same role of being an anti-tank weapons specialist, he's sort of a mix of Scrap-Iron and Fast Draw.

>>1122963280s joes are pretty much done. Only Flas, laser trooper, still needs to be made from the OG. Maybe Lifeline, Airtight, Wetsuit, Sci Fi and Ace. But those guys are inbetween the 80-90s joe designs.
>>11229176>>11229182LET'S FUCKIN' GOOOOOOOOOO!!!
>>11229589Yeah, it's not that bad, I like the black garments.Dice is the coolest tho, the three heads are cool.
>>11229546Onces he gets his spots and silver screen mask, he'll look a whole lot better.
>>11229176If they put S&D on Ninja Force throwback cards I'd go out of my way to get them. Also, they should do Shadow Ninjas variants for SDCC.
Wave 2 of Reaction+ has leakee. Most of the wave has already been known for months, but one new has turned up.>Duke- Sunbow>Serpentor- Sunbow>Ramar>Fatal Fluffies
>>11229176>>11229182I wish they'd develop a new body for ninjas, the SS mold kinda sucks
>>11220412>>11219827 >>11219853 Am I weird for kinda liking the crazy scifi stuff of Cobra-La as a kid?Nowadays I can see old pulp and even Lovecraft influences on it.
>>11227267Her old nose!
>>11230052It's a great mold, it just shows it's a 2022 mold at this point. The line has evolved a lot during these two years. But it also show how good the line has treated us, with other Hasbro lines still using awful bucks from 10+ years ago.
>>11230238I like it too
>>11230238I'd like it if it was a different toy line, Lunartix empire too. I'm ok with G.I. Joe having sc-fi elements, but my threshold stops right at Serpentor and crazy orthodontist wearing a YMCA outfit.
>>11230238Nah, they're cool! My only real gripe with all of Cobra-La was that the race of subterranean snake men had a lot of bug themed shit. They just always looked more insectoid than serpentine to me.
>>11230238As GI Joe fandom goes, you're weird, but you're not alone. There's usually a few of us here. The Energon Universe comics are introducing GI Joe to a whole new generation with no preconceived notions about what's "too weird" for GI Joe, and Cobra-La seems to be getting well received there. It probably helps that it's a shared universe with Transformers from day one and that Energon Universe Cobra Commander is a human who was taken in by Cobra-La, avoiding the complaints from people who couldn't handle /theirguy/ being a snake man.
>>11230304Where do you start with the Joe part of the Energon universe? I see Duke, Cc, Destro and Scarlett trades, what's the order?
>>11230325Duke appeared in an early issue of Transformers, then his mini launched first, then Cobra Commander, then Scarlett, then Destro. The current stories in Transformers and Void Rivals are also featuring some Joe characters.
>>11230325>Void Rivals>Transformers introduces Duke early on>Duke and Cobra Commander are more or less simultaneous>then Scarlett and Destro>then the new Joe book when that startsCobra-La stuff spills over into Void Rivals eventually, that one's been pretty solid, kind of like a YA version of Enemy Mine with some transformers here and there.
>>11230304I'm a Cobra-La opositor but even I have to admit they've taken the Cobra-La route in a very interesting way.
>>11230238I like the cobra-la stuff, the part I don’t like is the twist with CC being one of them all along. It’s not like the cartoon didn’t have all kind of other weird pulp stuff before that point no one ever questioned either.
>>11230244I don't consider the blocky knee joints and the doughy torso sculpt great.
>>11230251Even the 1970s G.i.joe had the Intruders as alien villains.
>>11230238I loved them as a kid because they were a hidden bigger threat for the joes. I think a lot of people hated the cobra commander retcon history being from there. To little me, it was more epic than a car salesman.
Cobra La was fucking stupid and still is. It's on the level of the modern Marvel movies tier of cringe
>>11231652>Cobra La was fucking stupid and still is. It's on the level of the modern Marvel movies tier of cringe
>>11230238Not to me you arent, i like that sci fi/monster stuff though. Im probably the weird one since i get bored with ninjas, i dont like the idea of everyone kung fu fighting. I think it spoils what makes storm shadow and snake eyes unique.
Has anybody tried putting the IG B.A.T chest plate on the regular B.A.T? Shit looks really nice.
Well, that was a cool issue. Nice start.
>>11232241Why would he not tell them what to do before jumping out of the plane?
>>11232086I'm right there with you on the Ninja thing. It gets played up way too much and starts getting silly when one of the wold super powers is a "super secret" buncha guys in pajamas that everyone knows about. As far as I'm concerned, Snake Eyes is at his best when he's a Commando with ninja training and not a Ninja in a commando team. >>11232205I have not, but now I might need a second IG BAT to change up both of my original BATs's plates. Though I was planning to swap bits between the IG BAT and the IG Trooper to make a kinda Cyborg IG trooper. I'm really hoping the IG Helmet fits on the cyclops BAT head.
>>11232637I have 3 IGs on preorder and intend to use them as officers in case a Retro version is in the works.Oh, and here's the IG BAT's damaged plate on the regular one.
>>11232637Same with the Snake Eyes interpretation.I like the ninjas when they're actually a dying society, just like in Hama's run, when Storm Shadow, Jinx, Snake Eyes and Scarlett had to kill the leftovers of the Arashikage clan, who turned mercenaries for Cobra after the dead of the Hard Master.
>Another Supersucky7 clearance sale on BBTSWhat a trashheap mess that Joe line was.
>>11233685>I like the ninjas when they're actually a dying society, just like in Hama's run, when Storm Shadow, Jinx, Snake Eyes and Scarlett had to kill the leftovers of the Arashikage clan, who turned mercenaries for Cobra after the dead of the Hard Master. To be fair, even in those comics, no matter how many of the Red Ninjas get killed, there's always more of them. Maybe they were still recruiting and training new guys. But in those comics, or any later version of GI Joe where Storm Shadow changes sides, they do need to have some other ninja characters allied with Cobra, so there's someone for the heroes to have ninja fights with. That's why it's a good thing we have Slice and Dice, as well as Firefly getting revealed to be a secret ninja in the comics, as well as Zartan being ninja-adjacent.
>>11234341Yeah, maybe the execution wasn't the best, nut the concept was so tragic and cool.Slice and Dice are great, maybe some design choices were a bit weird, but I've always liked them as named evil ninja. Excited for the Classified versions.
>>11234096>looking through sale>they made NJPW figures>Hiromu doesn't come with Darrylzero buysOn topic, I wish the Joe figures they did were more interesting. I don't feel like there's a lot they did that set them apart from Classified, especially with the different pricepoints. They should've gone wackier, Boy George Snake Eyes, lizard man Cobra from Operation dragonfire or his goofy one off outfits from the rest of the DIC series. They would've still sold like shit but at least they'd be visually interesting.
>>11234745I agree but the blowback from the Simpsons line means they'll never do weird choices first ever again
>>11231677Nice selfie. But Cobra La getting interest again is a result of fringe fans coming in to buy a line that sits next to their cape shit toys and battered joefans into consumin. Cobra La ruins GI Joe like it did in the 90s
>found a Falcon at GS>"Oh boy, now I just need the NF 2-pack version to fix his fucked up face!">sold out on Pulse and WMFuck
>>11236011He'll get a retro card release with the new head, Don't fret anon.
>>11236011New head doesn't even look that good on the old body imo, whole figure needs a redo.
>>11236300Looks oversized desu, kinda like those swaps everyone was doing giving him Marvel Legends heads. He definitely needs a redo.
>>11232457Training mission they knew about
>>11236300falcon has been getting terrible figures since version 2
>>11232241>>11232457>>11236755>yell orders while in mid air after a jumpit's stupid and comics always put their word balloons in the middle of its action where it makes no sense
>>11236002Not really. Some people just like Cobra-La as a scary threat to G.I.Joe.Same reason I like the Red Shadows as an enemy in addition to Cobra too.The only thing about Vibra-La is there no vehicles for them, when the whole creative thing with them is everything is made of bugs, snakes, reptiles, crustaceans, etc
>>11238000One small step to the return
that nemesis immortal guy was so cringe i had to double take i didnt accidentally click on Marvel Legends, and i was so disappointed in everyone to see he's sold out. at least Raptor and the 60th anniversary cringe sniper didn't sell out, so maybe it's not completely over. but yeah. >>11236002 i agree it's pretty fucking pathetic.if the line dies with disney farts, at least i have like 100 normal military guys that look pretty damn sweet. nobody else is making any military toys.
>>11238723Nice blog post princess.
>>11238780>thinks that is blog sizedRead more and watch less gay porn anon.
That post does a good job of actually reading like a 50 year old geewunner upset about a single monster man when they're also at the same time releasing realistic army people who don't sell as well comparatively
Got the new Storm Shadow and the Iron Grenadiers in from Amazon. Haven't been able to open them yet but they look really damn good.
>>11238149If these come back they NEED to include the monster smell gimmick
>>11239030>watches enough gay porn to know it has less dialogMore of a dunk on you than me. You could have wrapped everything you just said with an image of a toddler crying.
>>11238149>WITH MONSTER SMELL!Explain
>>11236002>Cobra La ruins GI Joe like it did in the 90sCobra-La was 1987, and GI Joe kept on going to 1994. It only affected the finale of the Sunbow cartoon, wasn't in the comics nor the DiC cartoon. The only Cobra-La thing in the 90s was Golobulus showing up as a boss in one of the Nintendo games. The toys were literally just one three-pack of figures. Cobra-La couldn't ruin GI Joe for you unless your parents got you the figures and sat there forcing you to use them whenever you played with your GI Joes.If the toys simply existing "ruins" GI Joe for you, that's you ruining GI Joe for yourself. Just don't buy the things you don't like.
I've been eyeing the GI Joe Classifieds Falcon as a base for a Naked Snake custom but I don't like how high up his sleeves end. Is there a better base body floating around, or maybe an arm donor?
>>11239742It "ruined" the line because it went on a downfall right afterwards. Taking claim for the goofiest period in GI Joe, also the lowest selling, is like saying you're proud of getting a retard medal. Enjoy it, but it turns GI Joe into a sci-fi mess that most fags aren't willing to acknowledge or care about. That and the Space Rangers shit is liked by few Joe fans, but aliens and monsters ruin it for the rest. That just means we won't buy it, as history has shown.
>>11239979Ah yes, the show with bodysnatching goo monsters, ghosts, magic, clones, time travel, dimension hopping, weather and earthquake control, teleportation, and fighting giant bacteria by shooting apples out of military equipment ONLY got "too sci fi" with Cobra La.Face it, even in the comics GI Joe was fully schlocky Science Fiction bullshit. You don't have to like Cobra La but don't pretend it's any dumber than the rest of the stupid shit they did.
>>11239844You could probably wait for Footloose, he seems to have a new body mold, and his camo pattern seems pretty accurate.
>>11239979The cool thing about toys, anon, is that you can ignore whatever the fuck you don't like in the line.I couldn't give a single fuck about Cobra-La, yet I keep collecting my badass army dudes in green, and I'm not thinking about stopping any soon.
>>11239333>ACK-CHUL-LY
>>11236300I swapped the head on my custom and I think it looks fine, but then again the chest rig I put on him is a bit higher up on the shouder which maybe makes him look a bit bigger. The Blowback head I had on him before was smaller than the stock head and the new one is a little bit bigger. It's not 100% perfect but it's not out of line with the other figures in the range, either.Funnily enough the head doesn't look like a drastically different character but I think it's a huge improvement. He looks younger and more soldier-like, whereas I always felt the original looked more like a sleazy politician.
>>11240353That looks cool! I think the bigger web gear helps a lot balancing his proportions.
Hi everyone, hoping everything's fine. With the line delaying production, I'm thinking about hunting down a few spots on my list, but right now I'm undecided on getting Storm Shadow v2 or Retro Cobra Commander. I have the first Classified Commander and Cobra Storm Shadow, so I'm open to recommendations.
Law and oder. Hope there's an alt head for order though.
HuhI guess this works better if you don't know who he is
>>11241861It's so funny when people army build a named character with an uncovered face.Nothing wrong with that; it just looks funny.
>>11241867Eye, the goggles, helmet and facepaint help him feel way more generic. But I just swapped some different SB helmets or other extra headgear onto the pair of TF dusty's I got to make him more troop buildery. Even swapped out the webgear on one for a bit more of that extra unique feeling. It does really help his outfit, colors and gear all feel *super* generic. TF Dusty is probably the best greenshirt you could actually get at this point seeing as Grunt never went on as deep a discount.
>>11242012I nabbed a couple of the regular Dusty's from Ollies. I'm giving them a new camo paintjob, some sculpy facemaks and some Valaverse gear to stick beside the custom Desert Scorpion I'm working on (assuming I get it finished before they announce an official one)
Do all the recent retro cobra comanders have misaligned helmet stripes?
>>11240353Doesn't look bad there, maybe I'm just too used to the Outback mold's bulkier proportions. >doesn't look like a drastically different characterNoticed that too, shares a lot of aspects of the original head, like they could be father and son lol
Thinking of downsizing my collection, I have a few options:1. Get rid of teams like Tiger Force, Crimson Guards, Python Patrol, etc, and focus on one figure per character2. Get rid of originals of characters that are already on teams (outback, shooter, big ben, recondo)Thanks, all
>>11243811Badass pic>>11243915That's pretty much how I collect Classified Series, except I don't collect repaint sub-teams, and I get two of each army builder.
>>11240554>>11243811An interesting discovery, Starduster's head looks weirdly similar to New Falcon, to the point where I could almost believe it's the same head sculpt. Starduster's head is slightly smaller than New Falcon's so if you want a head that looks basically the same but might look a bit more in proportion with an unmodified Falcon 1.0, you could headswap him with Starduster and no-one would be the wiser.
>>11243915Delete subteams
>>11244379Seems okay, but I doubt Starduster's helmet fits over the Falcon head though.
>>11245104If you want, you could put the Falcon 1.0 head on Starduster. The 1.0 Falcon head is bigger than the Starduster head but the helmet will still fit, and with the visor down you see less of the 1.0 Falcon's ugly mug. Also, Falcon 1.0's cap fits on Starduster's head just fine, even though the head it was designed for is slightly bigger. Even though I have the Falcon 2.0 head I think Starduster's head makes for a great Falcon, for those of you who don't want to buy the 2 pack or missed out on it.
>>11245307Jesus, that Falcon mug is comically ugly
>>11245333It really is as bad as everyone says.
>>11245307He's really stretching that thing out lol>>11245333It's almost unbelievable how bad it is. Glad they've corrected it, even if it costs $55 and an extra character to do so. Hopefully Cover Girl is next
>>11239979The ARAH line literally started with jet packs, and lasers and women in infantry in 1983. Serpentor is a hodgepodge clone. The trouble bubble works like magic. The majority of the franchise has always had sci-fi roots. The enemy of the 1970s Adventure Team were cavemen aliens called Intruders.
>>11245589I've pointed that out many of times and people are still pretending like G.I. Joe was some sort of Mil-Sim super real toyline. Personally, I'm not a fan of Cobra-La, but I have no problems with aliens, mutants, evil wizards or whatever crazy idea popped into the cartoon and toyline from back in the day. As long as we get cool army guys to fight em, I say bring em on.
>>11222607 Make him "ably challenged" and give him mechanical legs (or at least have his legs "interface" ed with the construction. with a spine / shoulder support that would allow weapon mounts but sell him on the "They took my legs ma!" angle.
