The thunder and cloud highlights in her eyes are cute but the weird circles in her iris don't look good.

The body is still disappointing but i'm sure g3 stan will find a reason to justify it but since it Annalise design they can't wait to suck on her dick

Here on /toys/ yes but if you go any other collector spaces (instagram, facebook, reddit, twitter, discord and telegram groups) her reception is overly positive.

Here people can freely criticize without any social consequences. Because in those other spaces you can easily be excluded and harassed for actual unpopular opinions or mildly inflammatory statements.

If Jinafire can't be all gold because it's yellowface, I'd prefer she be all green rather than the half'n'half situation. I also don't like Lagoona's leg gradient for the same reason, I think it looks a mess. Here's my ideal Jinafire, a jade dragon.

Gold skin definitely looked more striking and dragon-like but I do like the pastel green and purple colors as they are more pleasing. Also gold and silver paint do bleed/transfer more easily. Idk why everyone is trying to add horns, original didn't have it even though they would look cool.

Hmmm
Does G3 not do fully detailed scupts for the bodies anymore at all? It's a bit weird seing G3 Jinafire's heavily detailed lower legs and then her thighs just being completely smooth. Because the detailed body sculpts are honestly one of my favorite things with G1

>>11223896
I've reached the point where I feel like my MH collection is mostly complete and immediately used it as an excuse to start collecting OMGs while still keeping an eye out for the last few MH dolls I want
After that, idk. I might move more into actively making more customs to add to my MH collection desu. Kinda tempted to try my hand at an OMG custom too eventually
I think I just have the brain of a magpie and feel the constant urge to collect shinies (or dolls, as it were). Always been like this. Before it was dolls I was just collecting other shit instead

>>11224158
>Does G3 not do fully detailed scupts for the bodies anymore at all?
Yeah it sucks they didn't sculpt her scales or at least not partially on her legs because they do detailed things for g3. Like for g3 Frankie has the robot leg, Lagoona has gradient legs, Abbey has little horns, Cleo and Venus have monster features on their leg sculpts instead of being accessories/clothes.
>>
>>11224158
>>11224752
Wait nevermind you gaslit me into thinking g3 Jinafire doesn't have scales but she does. It's just her lower half to keep her thighs more cutesy which is fine.

You sound like a g3 stan. Ofc the earlier g1 characters lack body sculpt but the later releases puched a lot of bondaries and gave us the details you mentioned on others characters before debuting on the main ghouls in g2.

Plus even g2 had more detailed bodies, like for exemple cleo whole torso with on arm and leg are covered in bandages compared with g3 where it's only a lower leg and forearm. In g1 the cam mummie had her whole body covered and cleolei the fusion had smaler patches of bandages on her whole body too.

G3 is very lazy in that regard because that was one of monster high best design quirk.

Your lack of reading comprehension isn't my fault, hun
I quite literally said that the heavily detailed legs look fucking weird with the unsculpted thighs. And they do. It ain't cute
They might have been able to get away with it if they had sculpted in an actual transition from unscaled to scaled skin, but asking G3 for some thought and effort is way too much, apparently

They probably just wanted to make black horror dolls. There is quite a few black villain horror films that would have better doll designs, like Candyman or Vamp, but they didn't get as popular as Peele's stuff.
>>
>>11226075
Candyman is CLASSIC horror, one of the most well known slashers wtf are you talking about, it'd make more sense than this.
>>
>>11226075
Eeeh, I guess I'll give you that Peele's stuff might have more modern day mainstream success, but Candyman is still an absolute classic as far as a slashers go (I'd argue it's also one of very best ones out of the classics too)

>>11226238
A Candyman doll could've been so cool, even if they'd probably pull the mandatory genderbend with him
Idk how much licensing plays into the collector's dolls, so maybe that's a factor in what gets made too?

The characters are drac, frankie, cleo and cupid plus a playset clawdeen.

But this line may be at another core price of $25 because monster ball flopped at $30 so monster fest price point was reduced as a result.
Plus with the whole trump tarrifs system they could be even more lower quality with even more cut corners : cheaper shorter hair, laser cut printed fabrics, plastic corsets, more DEI printing on the accessories .

I think I’m approaching that point, though the last few dolls I really have to have are a bit expensive so it might take me a while. It’s not necessarily about already having all the dolls I want but more so that I’m starting to get overwhelmed by how many dolls I have, like 50+, which might not be a lot to some but I feel unable to appreciate them all, plus I don’t have room to display half of them. And I like to do restyles so I don’t need to be constantly getting dolls (even if the scavenger in me wants to).

>>11226330
I do give my Barbies names for fun but sometimes I forget and call them whatever is convenient

>>11226330
Yes, I like making them into different characters. I write them down in a small notebook and make up a character description over the course of a few days, or however long I have ideas for.

> "WHY WE WERE ROBBED >:.((((( Why would MGA do this to us?!?!?!"
>>
>>11236966
The problem was that MGA overloaded the shelves with dolls all at once and people are broke as shit, like yeah no shit some dolls are gonna shelf warm if you're putting 20+ on the shelf and they all cost $28 and up. And their stupid decisions with their collectors dolls bit them in the ass, like the Day of the Dead doll is pretty but she had less than the Year of the Tiger doll and costs double, all for a stupid light up box, or their winter holiday doll that cost $40 for no noticeable reason.
>>
>>11237010
>The problem was that MGA overloaded the shelves with dolls all at once
Ngl, I feel like every single fucking doll line does this and it's annoying as fuck. They completely oversaturate the market with an avalanche of dolls (lines that just repeat the same fucking character with slight variation with every line are even worse - you know the one I'm thinking of) and burn people out on the lines fast as fuck
Obviously can't speak for anyone else, but I feel like, personally, I'd be more inclined to actually try to collect more of the dolls if there were like a handfull released from the lines I'm into each year instead of like 20+
>>
>>11236966
MGA called us on our bluff. Adult collectors have been begging toy companies for years to cater to them over kids. One major point we kept telling these companies was that we had tons of money to spend because we didn't have kids. They found out we're have higher expectations for quality, pickier and cheaper than parents/kids. e.g. Autistic collectors returning dolls for doll paint that's a micrometer out of place / Expecting integrity level quality control on a $35 doll. lolol

>>11237090
I feel like toy companies kind of have to though? The lifespan of a doll line is shorter than it used to be because kids are cycling though toy trends faster and dropping toys at an earlier age in favour of console games and youtube etc. The toy industry is shrinking, so maybe they're put out more product in a shorter time span to compensate?
MGA was taking advantage of the short-lived adult collector boom during covid lockdown to do what a business are supposed to do. Seek to find and capitalise on opportunities to maximise profit.
Most adults are out of lockdown now and have money to spend on other shit, so there's no point in catering to us anymore.
>>
So I live near a large Target and Walmart that get a lot of shoppers, and a lot of restocks of dolls and other toys. This is observations over several months:
>the mini-sister RH dolls are selling well, along with the cheap single dolls
>Ruby is the best selling slime doll after Amaya
>the new Bratz dolls are flying off the shelves right now, but are being restocked well
>almost all MH is shelfwarming save Fearbook
>OMG sells erratically and then shelfwarms after initial surge in almost all lines

I am interpreting the RH smaller dolls to mean people are strapped for cash and are buying those as an alternative, and this will cause the cheapening out of the RH line to continue.
>>
>>11237171
>The toy industry is shrinking, so maybe they're put out more product in a shorter time span to compensate?
It's possible, but it just isn't good for the doll brands lifespan in the long run, if they were trying to maximize profit by remaining as relevant to the buyers as possible in an extremely short period of time, they failed to take into account that most people are broke as shit and can't afford that output, and it's no shock they're going to see a good chunk of dolls shelfwarming.

I don't think monster high is doing as good and may be fizzled out by 2026/27.
They been doing three new character per year and we're already three years in at that point both g1 and g2 had multiple new characters.

Their offering as been reduced to one core/refresh line, the annual theme line and skulltimate.
All the multi pack, two pack, deluxe over $25 and budgets lines flopped.
New character second release are skulltimate secrets plus they went from 5 character to three.

Comparing katty and jinafire it's clear they prioritize either the doll body or the doll clothes. Plus it's clear they will never do unique bodies anymore and more likely to have character that use existing bodies with two or three unique parts.

>people are broke as shit and can't afford that output
Seems like the reboot was the right answer, lower price point and less releases and it should have happened earlier. Idk, I feel like even if MGA slowed down on release, people still would've complained about the prices. I say that because I kept hearing from RH collectors though out G1 about how they didn't think these RH dolls were worth the price, they didn't for the most part consider the volume of product being released to be an issue. RH set themselves up badly by offering these really nice dolls for the price they did in series 1 line up which gave collectors super high expectations. Collectors often mentioned the price of every new release and compared it to the price of the initial releases as a baseline. MGA might have screwed themselves because now they look like price gougers when they actually needed to make RH profitable. Personally I've never heard a MH fan who were new to and bought a RH doll then complained about the prices and the quality of the doll. I want to make the point that I suspect collectors expectations may have been a factor in RH's downfall.

I agree that complaints of the prices would definitely still exist, but giving people some breathing space to be able to save up and afford the dolls would at least lessen the criticism.

What is their reason for not introducing g3 version characters more frequently anyway? I don't think it's a problem to reuse the same bodies, g1 just did slight variations of the sticc model body after all. So it's not like it would incur them much more costs to release a character with slight differences to the 3ish main body types they have.

You're overestimating character sales.
g3 is draculaura high.
>>
>>11238757
That mean the brand is stagnating, like how long til people are tired of ten new draculaura per years ?
By this time g1 and g2 had a great mix of characters per line and by the end we would get full line of new character per movies.

How are they going to argue new characters don't sell when they don't even try to mix them into the line ? If that all they can deliver that mean G3 already reached its peak.
Next year they will probably release a subpar cupid but since she will have some kind of diversity people will close their eyes and praise her just like catty but at least there will be new draculauras.

Complaining about the price will always happen, it's filtering the actual "we cannot afford this" to "ow my wallet, but I'm still buying it" noise. The problem is the internal metrics for how/what/why people buy after Covid are probably completely fucked up, combined with rampant inflation, it means things are being deeply mishandled on a management basis.
MGA should have kept the quality, slowed down releases, increased prices. Offered lower-cost offerings (single dolls, etc) to elevate the higher cost dolls.

I am so bored of this bitch
Praying for them to do something - anything - interesting with her at all because even if I don't like G3, it deserves better than endless Draculaura releases that all look the fucking same
>>
>>11238904
I really like what they did with her last skulltimate secrets look, but I predict that's gonna be where she peaked as far as G3 Draculaura designs go
>>
oof

>>11239076
I want to say it's fake because i saw no one posting about it plus it's obliviously edited but she does match the red, pink and gold rumors netherless her design is too basic and more ever after than monster

Cupid but they sucked out all of her personality

That description was false apparently.

If real, then,
>"curvy"
>fro
>ill fitted dress
>atrociously over-reliant on pink

Yeah...just shill out some extra cash and get the OG Cupid or make a custom, because what the hell is that? Did the designers brains work too hard designing Jinafire so this was the last exhaust cloud they farted out? God, I hope that's fake. It looks like Draculaura dressed as a clown.

>>11239249
If so it definitaly fake and just an edit of draculaura plus i still saw no one else posting this.

I wish g3 was more daring and edgy, I would've liked something like this Novi star doll minus the third eye, adding more bones elements to her design to match her ribcage wings. Or even something like River styxx prototype would've also worked, making the bones more subtle, also imagine it with a inner monster like translucent torso with a heart or butterfly inside
>>
>>11239372
Also while mentioning them, I think g3 jinafire body should have been something like this unreleased Novi star
>>
>>11239372
For real why did they NOT use pastel pink??? That would have been an EASY win. Because they're monsters they think all the colors have to be saturated?
>>
>>11239076
Looks fake to me beacuse the wings and the heart of the dress are front facing instead of being 3/4 like the rest of the doll.
Are those wings just eah Cupid's wings?
>>
>>11239610
i believe its fake too but being a reused model from an older doll isn't a proof.
G3 Jina's tail is based on G1 model.
g1 claween's bag and frankie's shoes are reused from barbie or myscene

From the review i saw, it seems like some wear panty while other don't

Iam straight, but find Barbi to be very appealing toy, they're just so pretty to play with. Is this weird for a straight guy?
Also, as a straight guy who mostly in the past collect action figure, i find fully articulate body type to be very fun and appealing, but i heard many older fans/doll collectors don't actually like the articulate body, but prefer the older limited movement barbie?
>>
>>11240261
no it is not unusual.
a lot of straight men are in denial because of strict gender norms pushed into them since childhood.
Enjoy your barbies.
>>
>>11240261
Nah man just enjoy what you enjoy. Most collectors I know prefer an articulated body, but all the best articulated bodies are modern style bodies which aren't the most stylish or fit old clothes very well, if at all, so a lot of fans prefer the older corset style body despite the lack of articulation
