Mythic Legions: Reign of the Beasts wave reveal stream online
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPA4OAKWGvA

<- Bassylia. $45

>In the First Age of the realm, armies of nightmarish soldiers marched across Mythoss, set upon the total destruction of all that stood in their path.

The Great Mother, Selyne, refused to allow her home to be destroyed, or her children to be slaughtered. Calling upon her powers, she brought forth four mighty warriors to stand against the evil that Helyos had wrought. These warriors would come to be called the Great Beasts, and Selyne created each of them specifically to match the horrors of the evil generals called the Dark Four.

One by one these mighty warriors emerged. Taking their places as the leaders of armies dedicated to protecting Mythoss, they would defeat their evil enemies during a period that history would one day call the Reign of the Beasts.

This wave will be fully revealed at G-con: Reign of the Beasts on 11/8/24! Tune in live to our YouTube channel starting at 10am EST or follow the reveals on our social channels. The preorder for the Reign of the Beasts wave will begin on 11/8/24 starting at 5pm EST at StoreHorsemen.com

Mostly compatible with 1.0 except for elbows and knees. The idea is that forearm and lower leg cuts allow that, too.

No dragon. I'm honestly kind of glad.
In fact, I'm glad that this is a small wave, especially with all the Necro stuff due soon that I need to pay for.
And I need to preorder Nosferatu Zodd. And those witches by CiYuanJuXiang.
And all the recent RPG line reveals by Snail Shell.
And the Memory Toys WoW stuff.
And SHF announced Lord of the Rings figs too.
Plus the Yoto Toys Snakeman skeletons, and this fucker too.
Fantasy fans are eating real good right now.

>>
Early impressions:

>Sneks
Sadly, I'm ignoring these completely until they announce tail add-ons or make new snakes with longer tails. The figures look nice, but tails are way, way too short for anything but standing upright.

>Ifrit
Very cool, but I don't need it. I might change opinion later when I see a local seller's price in my country, but I think I'd rather buy more gnolls instead if anything.

>Arraya
Probably getting her. It's a very cool figure generally speaking.

>Gnolls
The highlight of the wave for me. I want to buy like 3.

>Roman
I don't need these after Xesray's, especially since those ones double as non-fantasy, historical figures.

>Leodysseus
Very cool, but 2big4me. I don't personally need a huge ass humanoid lion. I'd be more interested on a brute scale one.

Plans to redo old figures with updated articulation, soft goods, new accessories, while keeping the original design.
I like the idea, since I like the simplicity of original designs of some characters and I fear that they might go full retard redesigning them if they were to make real Version2 of them.

Now that I finally have time to sit and think it over:

>Leodysseus
Impressive but not exactly surprising. I don't know if he's a "must have" but he's pretty cool.

>Bassylia
I love the colors, I love the design and flair and I love that they're making snake people apparently good guys, which goes against every established convention of snake people in most modern media. She's a strong maybe.

>RoyalGuard
Surprising, cool, and I love the multiple gear options in case you army built em. If I had infinite money, I probably would rule-of-three em, but as is, it's either one of these guys or Bassylia herself.

>Efreet
Oh he's a must have for me. I was regretting not getting the Djinn, but this guy is far cooler. I wish I could find an appropriately sized Dark Schneider to go step on his head.

>Arraya
Cool concept, love the pet dragon, but easy pass for me.

>Mwindajii
I literally just got a three pack of the AWOK Hyenas...and now I'm regretting that decision. I'd much rather have three of this guy as he's just amazing. Will have to settle for one, but I hope his kin get fleshed out over time.

>Pride Soldier
It's cool to see these guys, but if I can't get three I won't get any. Honestly, my favorite part about him is the emblem on the shield, but otherwise I'll go with the Xesray set as these guys just don't feel as "fantasy" to me as the rest of the Legions.

>>11226449
Getting at least two, unless it comes with that original Jousting helmet....as then I'll need a third. Not a fan of the shield though.

>>11226520
I always liked some of Glyos's designs, but was never a fan of the size/articulation scheme. Assuming this guy fully ditches some of those Legions bits and gets a whole new mold, I might bite on him. But I'm more curious as to what other brands they'll crossover with.

>>11226536
I am so glad I passed on his original figure. the smaller head looks WAY better and I love the new weapons.

It's the newish Valiant Knight buck. It has single joints, but they go much over 90º.
The weird thing is that the Red Sons wave is also going to introduce some of these single joints with greater range like Attlus2's bare body and limbs... which are kinda getting obsoleted by the Roman guy's preorder before even being released for the first time, looks like?

I kinda hate it when they make troop builders full priced figures as it pretty much means we'll never see a Legion Builder variant of these guys. The Legionnaire dude especially could've used a Legion Builder variant. At least with the Gnole they decided to make this one a named character, implying there may be hope for a more "generic" troop builder version one day.

I also hate that most of the wave is larger "Deluxe" priced figures. It's cool when a wave has one or two, but this one is almost all deluxes.

I'll be getting at least three of these guys, maybe four budget allowing. But even that might be stretching things depending how things go before the end of the pre-order.

That dragon however will certainly not be in the budget. The cost of it alone will be absurd, so once you factor in shipping, it's gonna be a major purchase. I'm glad they made it and I really do hope it's super successful, but ain't no way I'll be getting my hands on one.

Are these joints or wired?
>>
>>11226869
Looks like the first two or three segments going into the torso are joints, while the rest is a fixed piece - all of the shots show the tails are stuck in a single pose, so they likely aren't poseable for the sake of allowing the figure to stand.
>>
>>11226877
That makes sense. Though a little disappointing.

I think they're jointed above the bend, bendy past that. The bend itself is a swappable part, at least on Bassylia, as they specifically mentioned she had a straightened part so you could pose her flying. The guards seem to have the same part in their accessory pics, but they didn't specifically say they came with that part. But considering their price point, I see no reason they wouldn't have that piece. Also the little dragon that comes with the cultist is a bendy body with jointed limbs and head.
>>
Completely not Mythic Legions related but since I figure this will also be the generic Fantasy Figure thread as well, to the dude looking to grab them Capsule Goblins, it seems there's some sets up on ebay right now with free shipping offers. They're about $50 a pop, but that's way better then the almost $100 with shipping they were going for on Hobbydigi (which are sold out now anyway). I bit the bullet so if you wanna wait I guess I'll be he guinea pig to see how long the shipping actually takes. But I don't know how long they'll sit on ebay at that price.

....sort of related, but I also grabbed a Playmobil dragon ship thing so these little guys will be a perfect crew to sail my Dark Elf villains around. Or at least they will be once I figure out how to give them some actual clothes.

NTA either, but I remember him mentioning the bigger ones being a 3d printed kit from Etsy. Wasn't too unreasonably priced either, but it's also not an oversized monstrosity.

It does look really nice though and I do plan to get one myself eventually, as it'd be perfect for my growing 3"ish fantasy figure collection. Just not any time soon.

thats gigantic holyshit, Like 4feet and 6feet with the fire, thats crazy. thatthings the size of a dog and probably not far off in weight.

I've said it before in the MOTU thread:
The Snake Train has no brakes!
>that will hopefully go online too
The last two Legions Cons had a two pack and a single figure, and it totally slipped my mind that only the two pack was announced for this year. So I'm guessing the non-con version of this guy will go up at the same time as the other two.
With all the other con exclusives, the regular versions usually lose a head. I hope they don't for the snake. I need both heads.
>>
>>11227471
Absolutely more than $400, I'm budgeting somewhere around $700 including the accessory pack and shipping and will be deeply surprised if it runs much more than that point. Creative Beast put their substantially smaller and less winged dragon out for around $220 before shipping, and Kitzconcept managed a 1/18 Rathalos for $300 at BBTS prices.

>>11226428
Definitely getting the cultist lady, probably the gnoll, maybe Leodysseus and Bassylia. The Legionnaire's proportions feel off and he's too expensive to be buying for parts. The royal guard is cool but I'm not super into it.

I just don't like any of the djinn head designs. The horn placements and proportions feel like bad 3d practice sculpts that didn't get enough anatomy revision. I wish they had gone for something more like the Elden Ring Omens if they were just slapping magic horns wherever without thought of the underlying anatomy.

I love the dragon, the only reason I can think of not to get it is if they do an undead or metallic dragon later.

>>11226532

I'm trying to make a Cosmic Legion undead/zombie crew and wanted everyone's opinion here on what figures and parts to put together. I'm aware a of a undead themed line that will drop soon that have things like Necronominus Undead Builder and the hands/heads packs, but what other creatures of the night could I mash with Space suits and Aliens to get a real good nerco spacer vibe?

I'm legit jealous of people who got to make their own figures. I'd love to be able to mix and match bits to get my own unique figures. The retail versions they plan on putting out will just be solid color versions of basic knights, and that doesn't have the same appeal as being able to actually mix and match stuff to your own preferences.

That rogue looks fantastic btw, though he could use a cloak of some kind. Check Maxbird's webshop if you don't mind spending a bit as he makes some quality capes.

I would look into trying to grab a version of the alien skull they put out with the initial launch of Cosmic. They made it in a few different colors and I'm sure one of em is bone colored. It would turn a basic human skeleton into a cool alien skeleton.

Some of the older skeletons were brightly colored as well, so grabbing some of them would be cool. Scaphoid specifically would work as a fantastic irradiated skeleton if you mixed him with space suit parts, and Keltus could easily be a frozen one in the same vein.

Gorthok could be used as a diseased corpse type alien, and I'm pretty sure the wings use the same size joint as the arms, so you might be able to swap out some arms for bone wings or something. But yea, your best bet is the stuff from the Necro/All Star6 waves. Mainly the undead builder, The Turpiculi and the Skeleton heads alone should be enough to build a whole horde of undead space abominations.

They've already confirmed there's still four more great Dragons coming, and we know at least one will be an asian style dragon. But yes it's clear they plan to do a variety of dragons going forward.

>>11228349
Eh, it works better on some then others. When it's just skirts it's great, doesn't hind legs and adds a lot of dynamism to the figure. Vorgus 2's cape is also pretty impressive, though wonky in how it attaches. Duban and the Horsemen's capes are also super nice and adds some dramatic appeal to their looks, especially when riding mounts. But the cloaks from the Poxxus wave, they were kinda lackluster. They bunched up at the neck and didn't lay flat naturally, and their hoods were awkward and hard to get looking right.

We'll see how the new tabards fare in a month or two, but I'm certain it'll make the older sculpted tabard bodies look worse in comparison once they all get together.

I run a 3mm aluminum wire from the neck to the tail, so the whole body is solid. The wings need a couple coat of UV cured resin, but in retrospect would've been cheaper to use superglue. The limbs I haven't done any strenghtening, when he was new they are pretty tight, but now some are getting a bit loose because the PLA wear down. I'll probably do some UV resin again. The problem with superglue on PLA is that it creates frost.

As someone who collects all scale figures, I'm glad the Legions went 1:12. Fantasy figures work so much better at a larger size and there are far more lines they can cross over with. At 1:18, it's just the BFS stuff and maybe some Joytoy things. I've actually been on a big 3" fantasy figure kick and it's even harder to find stuff at that size. At best I have Playmobil and Eldrador stuff, not counting the Gashapon figures that started this little sidequest of mine.

Also, 1:12 figures just look better on their own, 1:18 stuff needs things like vehicles and playsets and dioramas to be cool. But 1:12 figures can just look impressive on a shelf with nothing else supporting them display wise. I'm currently setting up a display for the Four Horsemen right now, and all I need is some tiered risers and a black shirt to cover em, and the figures themselves do the rest. But if they were a smaller scale, they'd never be nearly as impressive or command as much attention as a display.

>>11228775
They said that there will be at least five Great Dragons coming out so there's four more planned in the pipeline, though maybe not all the same size/scale as this one. Depending on how well this figure does, the last two or three may end up smaller. They also won't be straight repaints either, as they want a variety of Dragons similar to how the main four villains and the main four heroic beasts are all very different from each other.

During the Q&A someone asked why the dragon cultist lady had an asian inspired dragon instead of a more european styled one similar to the big green guy and the 4H pretty much said that she's not a cultist for *this* specific dragon. It's pretty much hinting that they plan to do an asian dragon at this larger scale, and I wouldn't be surprised if things were already being designed for it. So stuff like an undead dragon or a sea serpent styled dragon are very much possible.

I don't know if you're joking but I loathe the fucking MOTU snake stuff so much. Why is it always snakes. Why.
>>
>>11229166
>Why is it always snakes.
Who do you think you are, Indiana Jones?
Anyway, let's give you a brief mythology lesson.
>Jormungandr
>Apep
>Apophis
>Typhon
>Lamia
>Medusa (and depending on the depiction, Stheno and Euryale)
>The Nagaraja Shesha, Takshaka and Vasuki, and the Nagas
>Glycon
>Nirah
>Rainbow Serpent
>Serpent in the Garden of Eden
>Leviathan
>Orochi
>Kukulkan
>Quetzalcoatl
And that's a short list.
Snakes represent a primordial fear. They have basically been human's arch nemesis for eons due to their capacity to kill us. They are also venerated due to their ability to shed their skin and seemingly regenerate, which is why they are sometimes depicted as a symbol for rebirth, such as with the Ouroboros.
If real world examples of the significance of snakes in mythology aren't good enough, read some Conan books. Watch the original Conan the Barbarian. Play some D&D and slaughter some Yuan Ti. Read the first issue of Berserk.
Collecting fantasy shit and complaining about snakes is like collecting Star Wars and complaining about Stormtroopers.

You've already mentioned the Undead Builder in the Necro wave and the heads pack from the All Star 6 wave, and it looks like you've got the Frankenstein Hagnon head.
So, from the Necro wave:
Belualyth comes with two different heads, and is a 2.0 sized head so she will fit on the black Cosmic Legion Builder, but her hair will likely get in the way from fitting properly unless you customise it a bit.
Maxillius comes with a normal skull and the eyeless skull.
Turpiculli has two different monstrous skulls.
If you want a skeleton in a spacesuit wearing a chainmail hood, Sir Elijah comes with a skull face plate.
All Stars 6 has the Skeleton Raider, Thorasis, and Skalli the dwarf skeleton, but they all have medieval helmets on, so they might look anachronistic. Clavian the red skeleton is also getting reissued in that wave.
Graveyard Skeleton 4 pack has skull masks so your skeletons can disguise themselves as skeletons.

As for other creatures of the night, there have been a few vampires, though some will be harder to find now. The Illythia wave had Baron Volligar and Varrg. Vallak has a hood molded to his head, and Illythia has long hair, so she might have the same issue as Belualyth.
There was also Carpathias from much earlier in the line, and Lord Dragul had the same head painted slightly different. The Vampire Knight (2.0 buck) from the second Kickstarter.
And there was a head pack with a vampire head in the All Star 5 wave, and that will be much easier to get than any of the other vamp heads I mentioned.

Finally, Poxxus has a pretty cool undead head with a long beard, and it looks like the beard will clear the front of the chest of the TUSCC spacesuit body.
And Demistros has a cool bony demon head too.
And Red Death.

And the other anon that replied to you had good suggestions too. The Scaphoid dayglow yellow and green skull will look awesome as an irradiated phantom spaceman. He won't be too hard to find since he was reissued not too long ago.
>>
>>11229651
Even if figures like Poxxus and Belualyth's heads don't work perfectly, their arms and hands should help to give that rotting zombie feel to things.

Though I still to this day feel that Belualyth should've had bone limbs instead of the asymmetrical bare/armored arms she went with. She's far too similar to that Elf fairy princess and far less interesting with actual meaty limbs. It's a shame imo as that gorgeous headsculpt is wasted on a rather boring body build.

Thanks for all the input, helps knowing what to search for and I appreciate noting things like beards, arms, hands, etc as I am wanting to do more mixing up of these guys than just heads. Likely going to be a bit before I can get going with this just due to how limited and costly some of the figures get but these notes it'll help get ideas on what I actually want to build.
>>
>>11229944
glad to help, space zombie mutants is a cool idea and I'd love to see more.

One more figure I'd like to throw out there is Okeaetos, He's a 2.0 thinner bodied build, but he's a blue skeleton vampire thing with six arms. Sadly the blue don't match up with the zombie chick, but it's still nice getting extra limbs to make use of!

He's from a more recent wave and didn't seem super popular, so he shouldn't be hard to grab.
>>
>>11229164
To be fair, 4H's idea of 1:18 is actually 3.75", so they might have scaled with actual 1:18 lines. Their Outer Space Men were small.

4H fucking up when sizing them up for 1:12 scale is why I never bought any of the human characters for Mythic Legion.
WAy too big for 1:12. Even their skeletons are gigantic.
>>
>>11230186
They never sized them up, the original sculpts were always larger as they were done back in the old days of actual hand sculpting where you make the original designs at a larger size to be easier to work with. They just didn't size them down fully, and with the heads that was extremely noticeable. The original Otho head was huge, and a lot of the human heads just looked awkward.

It's gotten way better over time, but I agree these guys really don't fit in scale wise with most traditional "1:12" stuff. They're still bulked to hell and back so they just dwarf almost anything that stands next to em, even if they're the same height. Helmet heads and monster folk fare kind of better, but even then, those noggins are massive.
>>
>>11229773
I mostly listed issues like long hair so that anon didn't spend $50+ on a figure only to discover that it didn't quite fit. Beards should be fine. I would check with Poxxus and a TU5CC space suit , but I've got everything in storage right now to rearrange shit in the house.
And I agree on Belualyth. Giving her a skeleton arm would have made her so much more unique.
>>11229944
Glad to help. If you want a bit more of a visual guide, 4H have checklists so you can see what the figures we mentioned look like, and maybe find ones we missed.
Alphabetical:
https://sourcehorsemen.com/mythic-legions/checklist
By wave:
https://sourcehorsemen.com/mythic-legions/mythic-waves
Of course, the further back you go, the harder stuff is to find/more expensive it potentially is.
>>11230057
Oh yeah, I forgot to include him on my list. His heads are repaints of the Vamp Knight from the second Kickstarter. Definitely worth grabbing just for the heads and 2.0 skeleton arms. I've seen him for real cheap on Amazon.
>>
>>11230208
Yeah, i know how two ups work (in fact, i saw the prototypes at sdcc before the kickstarter began), but the fact is, they were designed to be for 3.75" and were arbitrary when they went for the larger sized figures, hence doing the not-quite 1/10 scale instead of 1/12.

And the wonky heads is just from the overuse of samefag bodies. Not everything is one size fits all, so they looked mishmashed from the ill fitting bodies.

Basically, it was shit planning because of their sudden change in plans.

I want good Mesoamerican toys badly, it could even be fantastical with made up details or lizard people, just have somebody that actually understands the iconography and motifs design shit please. The Macuahuitl is fine I guess, and the plumes on the warrior's helmet also isn't half bad, it actually has stuff arranged in fixed arrays, but everything else is very uninspired and not really based on anything from Mesoamerica

He thinks they are lame because he wants Mesoamerican action figures, and not just figures inspired Mesoamerican designs.
