Any recommendations for how to best clean these Precure toys? I tried alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Clorox wipes, and windex without much success. I don’t want to take the paint off, but these are just too dirty to be given to my daughter as a Christmas gift.I seen some people recommend scrubbing bubbles foam spray. Has anyone had success getting similar brown residue off of figurines?

Serious question, have you tried warm water and dish soap?I usually use a small plastic tub container and it works on 90% of grime/residue/dirt. You might have to let them sit for a bit, but that and maybe a firm toothbrush may be all you need.
i was a victim of arson a few years ago and the smoke and soot did a number on a lot of my stuff. you need a baking soda scrub and a toothbrush, preferably with rubbery bristles. it will take time and it will absolutely fucking suck

>>11245484You could always try baking soda and some water, but it’ll work like a really thin sandpaper, much like Mr. Eraser, which will scratch off the dirt and grime, but factory paint too! It’ll sound a bit silly, but Lighter Fluid and dish soap will make quick work of most all general dirty grime and stains without damaging (most) paints and plastics. I’ve personally used them for cleaning some really funky marvel legends and seen tons of vintage toy groups (Star Wars and Silverhawks) have fabulous results (even removing ink and spray paint stains), so I can’t imagine you would have any trouble with this older kinda softer rubbery plastics. An ultrasonic cleaner that they use for jewelry might get some of the lighter stains out too, but probably not enough to be worth the money. Toy Polloi has TONS of videos on it, and I’d highly recommend checking him out. I’d also recommend some paint brushes, mod podge and paints to touch up any small details, but I don’t think it’ll be needed. These are in pretty damn good condition! Not to say that it'll be a cakewalk, it’ll def take some elbow grease and time, but I genuinely cannot imagine these not looking brand new with some effort, and very little cost. You’re a good dad and it’s sweet to see you going to this effort. Post the results when you’re done!

>>11251891Either or works, so long as you give it some time to kinda settle and get any nooks or crannies, a nice thorough scrubbing. Some goo gone might do some good too, or at the very least couldn’t hurt it. If they have any lingering smell that’d take care of that too. If you need to go heavy duty with smells, I’d say wrap em in some of those laundry sheets and surround them with baking soda. That’ll take any Smokey or nasty smell out, but it’ll need a few days if not weeks to set. It’s how I was able to salvage a Mafex Superman from a smoky home the seller didn’t disclose. If possible, i’d give a thorough and long soak in some warm and soapy water. Then go in with a toothbrush and LOTS of lighter fluid - repeat scrubbing with goo gone - repeat scrubbing with dish soap - and final rinse with water. Rinse and repeat until you get your desired result. Toypolloi will absolutely help guide you, I can personally vouch these helped me salvage what would be some pretty bad lost money.
