Elon wants to buy Hasbro to mine all of the IP for his new game company. Who would be your dream team for him to hire to fix Hasbro?

For me it would be subcontracting the 3rd party transformers engineers from china to create a mid tier masterpiece line shooting for $60 figures.

Also mass producing the Hiya figures and taking all of the licenses away from super 7.

For the board game division, it would be nice to have an AR tabletop app that would connect to other gamers via your phone so you could just jump into a DnD game with a preconfigured character and then jump out. I don’t have the time to coordinate a 3-4 hour gaming night, but I can jump in for 20 minutes and help out and make dark jokes and then leave.

Similarly it would be nice to have a MtG app on the phone like the Yugioh app, but have it be a subscription with no gatcha card BS.
>>
People would have an incentive to keep paying the monthly subscription as balance changes and new cards keep the game interesting. There would need to be a simplified version to keep the games from being a solitaire viewing experience like Yugioh.

1. Get OLM (or some other low-budget studio) to make a new 50-episode Transformers anime where at least 75% of the frames contain robots or some other futuristic vehicle, hire Masami Obari to direct the stock footage transformations and attacks, and hire Simon Furman to write the scripts and setting.
2. Gut Studio Series, gut baby toys like 1-step changers, make Legacy 20% of Transformers' output, focus on making toys that have both great gimmicks and great articulation/accuracy to appeal to both kids and collectors, and include pack-in character bios and tech specs again.
3. Make Collaborative 30% of Transformers' output, and make it a line that appeals to both kids and collectors with both gimmicks and articulation/accuracy. Begin including transforming robots from Japanese mecha anime, such as the Brave series, Galvion, Webdiver, Megazone 23, Macross, Mospeada, and transforming Gundam mechs, to make mecha toys that are easily available and have excellent transformation engineering (i.e. no partsforming).
4. Localize ToQger, Lupinranger vs Patranger, Kiramager, Zenkaiger, and BoonBoomger, and import/mass produce all of Bandai's toys for these series.
5. Make a new GI Joe cartoon that heavily leans into future vehicles with toned-down military connotations.
6. Reboot MASK.
7. Invest in developing original boys' toys concepts and ideas with multimedia campaigns.
8. Get rid of Marvel Legends and Black Series and make action figures for both kids and collectors, sort of like the 2011/2012 Clone Wars figures and playsets.

1) it's a meme. Cause that's how him buying twitter started, he now just asks how much to buy stuff whenever someone suggests he should buy it
Even if it's not for sale
2) hasbro has 2 or 3 giant fucking problems that could be fixed fast, but 1 that needs time.
First, they need to return to plastic packaging. They switched away from plastic bubbles to be "green" but now the kids can't see the toys before they buy them, just pictures. So they don't buy them. Not to mention cardboard weighs more than plastic, so shipping costs go up. Not to mention they pay people to assemble the boxes now instead of using machines because it allows them to quickly replace someone who can't work anymore, but the QA went to shit. Second they need to start advertising again, in the spaces people watch. Seriously, I don't think they've even MADE transformers toy commercials in years. Advertising is the cheapest it's ever been and they're just trying to rely on movie ads to drive you sales. Third, on that note, they need to shift investment from 6 year old targeted TV shows like earthspark to splitting it between more teenage marketed adult stories like the comics in the 80s were via triple a games or weekly on demand comics a la manga, and leave the kid stuff to 15 min YouTube videos.

The big one that'll take awhile is to create a truly global manufacturing network instead of doing everything in Vietnam and then shipping across the globe. They should be like car companies. Set up plants in your major zones, then import to the smaller ones

It's wild to me how many people can look at modern Hasbro and have a problem with someone like Elon coming in and gutting the woke cancer and making it an actual good toy company again. The plastic free packing fiasco was an absolute disaster/embarrassment they had to immediately heelturn on. They ran Power Rangers, an incredibly successful toy brand which thrived for 25 years before them, 6 feet under ground in less than 5 years. Star Wars is a ghost of it's former self, barely occupying a few pegs with shelf warmers. None of their brands are allowed to do sexy females anymore. They actually tried to do a Haslab Black Series Rancor without an Oola. They're more concerned with woke pandering than making good toys, and someone needs to step in and save the company before Chris Cocks does irrevocable damage to the company and it's properties, if he hasn't already.
>>
A bad movie made by dumb Americans who didn't understand Power Rangers appeal and it's corresponding toyline bombing doesn't negate the fact that the yearly TV show toys based on the Japanese Super Sentai designs were a consistent success for 25 straight years until Hasbro took over and completely killed it.
>>
>>11248462
What point are you trying to make? Yes, Power Rangers was a glorified toy commercial. It was a very easy and effective toy commercial. Take footage from existing Japanese show, bookend it with American actors. Every year or two the show reinvents itself to stay fresh. How do you fuck that up? It's designed to last forever.
>>
>>11248477
That's not what Hasbro wants though. They want a big global multimedia IP that they can fully control themselves but having to reuse footage and work with Toei goes against that.
>>
>>11248502
They just need to subtitle the japanese show, and distribute the bandai toys. It’s free money for everyone. They let their shitty ego fuck it up every year.
>>
>>11248579
Kids aren't gonna read subtitles.
>>
>>11248579
Well yeah that's the better way to go, the Frankenstein approach of replacing footage of Jap actors with American actors while keeping everything else the same is outdated at this point and not even its niche can save Power Rangers or vice versa. But Hasbro is too stubborn to even do that.
>>
>>11248585
>>11248586
Kids don’t buy $80 combiners either. Bandai sells a couple of imports on bbts and amazon jp. That is not the same as massive walmart distribution.
>>
>>11248586

>Similarly it would be nice to have a MtG app on the phone like the Yugioh app, but have it be a subscription with no gatcha card BS.

There's already two (formerly three, although Magic Duels is still playable) active MtG digital card games, anon. MtG Online is windows only, and MtG Arena is all platforms except Atari Jaguar.
>No gacha card BS
That's just how collectable card games work, though. You're framing it like gacha mechanics are an external corruption of the system, when they're just sorta innate to it instead, at least physically.
As far as digital goes, they'd have to be crazy to remove it. It makes up an incredibly massive chunk of not just Magic's revenue and value, but of Hasbro as a whole. Axing it for a subscription model would be an absolutely insane business decision.

Beyond that, how would it even work?
Can you not play without a sub?

Does the sub just keep your cards up to date?
How would that even work? There aren't new cards THAT often, why bother? And if new cards don't interest you, then why not let it lapse?

And what if you let it lapse for, say, a year?
Would re-upping instantly catch you back up? I don't think subscription is a good model for this kind of thing, anon.

Okay I'm going to type a novel here so bear with me anons. Would Elon buying it be a good thing? Answer: better than the alternatives.

For those not in the know, last year /toy/, /horse/, /biz/ and /tg/ teamed up and laid down the exact picture the company is in; hemmorhaging money, all the IP's are being gutted and in the shitter and Cocks is just cashing bonusses while lying to the shareholders and consumers. They're literally loaning money to use as dividends to throw the shareholders off and pretend things are better than they really are. The shareholder decided to throw the book at him, and the allegations - if true - are equivalent to financial fraud. Note: you can still go to jail for financial fraud if you're rich and powerful if it's other rich and powerful people you're screwing over. So this will be a lot of fun. Given how they're hemmorhaging money, a Chapter 11 in Q1 of 2025 is not unthinkable; really just depends if they can keep loaning money, and their debts are now worse than before selling off EOne.

TF bombed so many times in a row to launch a ''multiverse'' or whatever they just gave up. GI Joe is in production hell. Power Rangers is in limbo. Horses just got cancelled because both the little girls and those-we-shalt-not-speak off walked away. Littlest Pet Shop might as well not exist. And Monopoly and other board games? Passive income at best; except for a weirdo or two no one will buy dozens of monopoly games. Same with simple brands like Play-doh. (and Furby/FurReal is too expensive)

So the only sources of income now are Monopoly Go (a casino slot machine disguised as an app), D&D and MTG and in the latter two cases... oh boy are they trying to break them down out of stupidity and greed.

Don't believe me for it, just go to your local toy store in USA/Europe; the amount of Hasbro merch is barely anything, and nothing is front-and-center. Entire brands are missing. Online retail? Ditto. Reminder; Christmas is the big season.
>Continued.

(cont) If you look at picrel, it becomes clear; revenues are declining, and they're just loaning money to keep the party going because oh boy does Cocks love his bonusses.

So will Elon be a good choice? Well, what are the alternatives?
>Hasbro dies, IP's go in limbo
>Hasbro sells/licenses IP's off to tards who will make an ever bigger mess
>Off chance good people get the IP's and aren't absolute fucktards about it.

Elon is an interesting person and has his flaws, but at least he seems to care about the state of D&D; he ain't the only tech billionaire or investor who cares. there are enough rich fucks that love D&D (remember the Altafox debacle?), love Transformers... and Gabe Newell is (or was) a horsefucker. Elon Musk just wants to sell product for profit and not insert it with political garbage or appease the monstrous egos of the low-IQ Hasbro boomer managers that roam the company and ensure its continued decline.

Elon *knows* all these IPs are undervalued because Hasbro made a mess off them, and not because they're actually bad brands; they're not, just mismanaged. For decades, only now just ''worse than 10 years ago''. He knows he can make a buttload of profits if he makes good stuff out of them. And actually have competent writers make the stories for the shows, movies, videogames, whatever. When he bought Twatter he removed all the clowns and the site runs perfectly fine, no matter what the clowns in the media or /leftypol/ say.

So yeah, Elon Musk might be the best hope /toy/, /tg/ and /horse/ might have. Not the ideal candidate, but the best candidate.
>>
>>11247721
if he were to do it he'd fire like 80% of the staff, including the actual important people doing the work, slash budgets to nothing so the few toy designers would have nothing to work with, hope you enjoy rehashing old molds but worse because of mold degeneration, oh but he'd accelerate the price hike, and introduce twitter blue into it somehow.
things you could expect

>MLP but made by someone with brainworms going "WOKE WOKE WOKE" all day, so real shit horses
>DnD but more racist
>MTG trippling down on their shitty pratices so hard not even the hardcore of hardcores would want to invest
>tons of elon themed figures and cards, he will insert himself into everything, enjoy a musk npc in all dnd adventures

Tons of WoTC designers would no doubt instantly leave only to get snapped up by some other studios leaving just Elon and actual idiots to make the worst edition of DnD.

in short, bankruptcy pretty fast because none of his fans actually buys any of hasbro's products

Just use any car brand. Volkswagen doing executions like in Dark of the Moon was based AF.

>>MLP but made by someone with brainworms going "WOKE WOKE WOKE" all day, so real shit horses
That is something that is so weird to me; Hasbro already has a ''high school girls brand''; it's called Littlest Pet Shop. MLP is about horses and mythology, and only works when they do it about horses and mythology. Just making it a fun LOTR/Narnia/Redwall-ish brand for 7-12 y/o's for both genders (and not overgrown manchildren) would be the most obvious. The only reason it's ''girly girl pink pink'' is because Hasbro said so, not because Bonnie Zacherle (the lady who made the brand) wanted that, she wanted the alternative I just described. They're mythological horses from a fantasy land, let them be that way, jeez.

NTA but if the goal is to do nothing but increase valuation over any other metric (because apparently high stock price means desirable CEO for consumers) then just pull fucking Gabe Newell or, failing that, EA, Activision, or Apple's leads. They're worth more, so obviously better leader, right?

You need someone who respects the customer; customer wants quality product in exchange for money. If you want me to believe in this fantasy world you're portraying - D&D, MTG, TF, GI Joe, MLP, etc. - and consooom product, you need to at least respect the customer and provide a good experience.
Greedy corpo suits don't understand that;
>''just try colored blob with happy face and see if it sells, if it doesn't it must be the market or bad luck IDC'' (they really do be like that, this isn't even a joke).
Lefty she-twinks only think about themselves and whatever mental illness they make everything they do around.
>All fans I don't like are bad people! I will call people who spend money with us bad names because they're bad people!

This of course disqualifies EA, Activision or Apple.

Would Elon be the best? No, but are things to consider:
1) He doesn't badmouth paying customers.
2) He seems to be a fan of D&D and Transformers (''cybertruck'', ''optimus'' the robot) and perhaps even a closet horsefucker.

So for my stance; he's the least shitty option we can reasonably expect to make the IP's good again.
>>
Elon Musk is autistic but not about action figures, he cares about DnD stuff.
I can imagine all the figure lines would stay the same under him.
I don’t really care about Hasbro after they killed Fortnite one which was very neat.
>>
>>11247755
That’s Blackrock silly.
>>
>>11249528
There's a few issues with your argumentation.
First is that I simply don't trust you to not claim any alternative candidate is "woke". That's the least of the problems, but it is present. The politics of the candidates doesn't matter, results do. I simply don't trust that I could present Gabe or an equivilant without you going "Um trans flag on steam sale! Woke much?"
Further than that, as unfortunate as it is, DnD lends itself well towards leftist ideas. Always has. It wasn't exactly the hippies who were up in arms about the very existence of it, and the left isn't getting pissy about people playing the wrong gender in a fucking RPG.
Granted, the move to remove racial traits is a stupid push, but you're out of your mind if you see TTRPGs and go "Yes, red pulled and anti-woke."

The major issue, however, is that you're not really presenting how he'd genuinely be better. How would Elon improve DnD? What benefit would come to me, the consumer, if Elon took control of it? What of the toys? The books? Elon has time and again shown himself to be both reactive and easily distracted by new endeavors. Let's discount Twitter for your benefit and ask what has he done to improve companies he's in ownership of. The cybertruck has been a massive pile of shit, highlighting quite possibly everything wrong with the car industry at the moment, from shitty tablet controls to software that just shits itself and just garbage build quality, made for the faggot who wants to larp as blue collar. Tesla's mainline cars are only for the well-to-do and offer little to the everyman. SpaceX is...fine, actually, sure, but that's an incredibly specific specialty business.

What are you even defining as an improvement? Stock price? Shareholder value? Or are we viewing it from the consumer side, anon? You're presenting shareholder stats, but that doesn't help me, the end user. You might as well pull the best CEO in the country and say "Share price high make company good!"

DESU the only hope we can have is that he's smart enough to not follow in the footsteps of retarded boomer room-temperature-IQ managers of Hasbro and meddle in things he shouldn't. If he has a good creative director (per brand) that have a good plan, pitches it, gets approval and gets it done, *then* it can be a huge success.

But of course that means Musks needs to listen to the experts and trust their judgement.
Which - if he speaks the truth here - he does. Because of course nobody wants "the new norm but <insert Hasbro brand here>". Just because it's bad when leftists blue haired troons make 'Trans'-formers doesn't mean it's dubbleplusgood when the MAGA hats do the same thing. "It's okay when we do it amiright"?

Sold merchandise. Hasbroke isn't selling merchandise, tons of it is rotting at second chance stores. Retailers are fed up with Hasbroke since their stock ain't moving and shelf space is precious. Just walk into any toy store you know, America or Europe. Barely any Hasbroke there, especially compared to 10 years ago. They're running at a loss, are deep in debts that are 3+ times their total assets, they're throwing out dividends based on money they do not have and the list goes on. Turning that around would be an improvement.
>>
>>11247727
How so? Hasbro has tons of excellent IPs being mismanaged into the ground by out of touch suits and Elon knows what sells and how to sell it.
>>
>>11249610
>Bans woke groomer trash
He literally didn't, though. His entire bit was that he was unbanning people. The fuck do you get your info from?

>>
>>11249465
I'm convinced that Hasbro has at least one Disney plant in the higher ups who's intentionally making shit worse so they can buy Hasbro and their IPs.

>>
>>11251400
This summarizes the bread: it can only work IF AND ONLY IF he doesn't make it a MAGA-fest (which is just as bad as if it was made by blue haired landsharks), and IF AND ONLY IF he gets a well thought out plan (for each brand) rolling and doesn't meddle in it except to check of milestones are met.
>>
>>11252467
why would he make it a MAGA fest in anycase? it's not like he did that with X/Twitter. at the end of the day the entire discussion doesnt focus on whether or not Musk could do a good job, instead it fixates on either desperate fans of damaged brands hoping for improvement or disgruntled paranoid leftists spitting out the worst case scenario options like they always do. If Musk buys hasbro all he needs to do is rehire the old designers and fire all the people responsible for the decline. the issue would resolve itself from there.
>muh didney, muh marvel
why would you want hasbro to retain either franchise when star wars is a creatively bankrupt husk of its former glory and marvel isnt that far behind it?
>>
>>11252467
>he gets a well thought out plan

This is not a thing Musk does. He loves to tout how he acts on a whim without any plan whatsoever all the time and just sort of makes decisions fast. Then he says his same old
>Move fast and break things
Which displays how he fucks up until he can eventually pull some kind of win, but after he has really fucked over that company for a while.

Type up a storm, anon. I ain't reading shit.
A "good lawyer" isn't the same as a "good" lawyer. The world's best lawyers are the most evil. Morality has little to do with it. Feel free to take your hurt fee fees to whatever fag commune you choose to inhabit, I don't care, it won't make you correct.
>>
>>11253404
I think /pol/ was legit hoping they would lose so they could go out and wreck shit.

Now they got everything they wanted and no one really cares.
>>
>>11253412
This isn't about moralism, just strategy. From a PR perspective, you want to do nothing that rocks the boat unless you can get something out of it. So a ''you cannot sue us'' causes exactly that. From a ''get this problem sorted'' you want to get it tossed, not use arguments that cause the judge to turn against you.

try to take steps back and look at problems from many angles, anon. And not a ''my feefees or the highway'' but ''every option is shit, what is the least shit option?''
