GoBots thread!
>>11260753More like No-Bots.HEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>11260753I really like them. They're at least better than the comparable Transformer mini-bots. The cartoon sucked, though.
>>11260753i never knew there were so many.
>>11262575Should note that some of the stuff on OP's poster, like the fortress on top of the mountain never got released.
It would be nice if there were modern toys that weren’t just Transformers recolors.
>>11262484You shut your mouth.(Also holy shit are the captchas getting difficult.)
>>11260753>GoBotsI rememer i was a kid and feeling happy that i'm on the "better side" of transformers.I was calling both of these line transformers. Only gobots were for lame/poor kids. And me owning actual transformers meant that i'm not from that other category.Imagine being a kid...and your friend gets Soudnwave on christmas. And you get a fucking GO-BOT.
>>11266739The cartoon sucked. There was zero purpose to transforming because in bot mode they all flew while shooting lasers out of their fists. And the storyline was clearly "Transformers, but for even-younger kids."
>>11266654There are, or were.
>>11266746The US side muddied things by filling the line with crap that didn't look good. They were going for two different things. Go-bots, or at least the OG Machine Robo stuff, was more like Hot Wheels, early TF was more like model kits and bigger car models. Tiny TFs were mediocre and bigger gobots were usually bad. In Japan, MR were basically pocket toys for kids to take to school and playgrounds and play and trade. There could've been room for both, but Hasbro competed better.
>>11266933>tires as hatsWeird and this is why nobody took Go-Bots serious!
>>11266802I think thw cartoon actually had some good points. It was interesting that Leader 1 wasn't overall in charge of the Guardians and still had to answer to civilian leadership. And modern Transformers totally ripped off Leader 1 and Cy Kill's backstories with the whole 'used to be good friends but became enemies when one went evil and wanted to take over' thing.
>>11267042you notice that and not the actual sculpted general's cap on his head?
>>11260753quite literally my favorite toyline "Machine Robo Mugenbine" stems from Machine Robo (gobots)
>>11262484I had a lot of them. Their ability to hold up after a kid playing with them depends on the gobot though.Cy-Kill and Flytrap fell completely apart. Leader-1 just had the wings fall off. But Turbo, Fightorr, and Cop-Tur are bricks that are perfectly fine.
>>11267253Because thats weird and wacky than just molded headgear like Tux!
>>11266654you'd think we would be there by now given how obsessed all these big toy companies have become with crossovers and easy nostalgia bucks. really, what would it cost to make new go-bots? it's not like machine robo sees much action these days either. If hasbro wont do it I wonder if we could see TLS or Nacelle take the wheel for a spin.
>>11267219the aspect of classic go-bots canon I wish would get more attention is the fact that they're all cyborgs. i always thought that could be a cool basis for a transforming robot line. open the hood and see the cyborg's brain in a jar!
>>11266933say what you will of the U.S. additions but Im still a major sucker for the Ro-Guns. Pic related just has so much heart. id kill for a whole toyline of pulp scifi transformable robots.
Devil invaders deserve an update
>>11267946Yeah, them being cyborgs was unique. A shame that the cartoon rarely did anything with that and treated the Gobots just like robots most of the time. Also, I was always kind of disappointed that the original pre-cyborg Gobot race looked just like humans. Not even green humans like the Nebulans or funny forehead humans like the races on Star Trek, they were just identical to humans.
>>11266746Imagine brand war mentality and caring about status symbols as a kid and not happily enjoying all transforming robots.
>>11266933Oh dang, I had that train guy. The only other go-bots I had were this orange truck and a Leader-1.
>>11266654I actually bought these, mostly because i forgot to csncel my pre order. I already have cosmos and warpath so why buy the reapints?
>>11266802>zero purpose to transformingClearly you missed the entire "alien robot fighting a civil war that shouldn't have involved humans" angle.
>>11266746I never understood why you fags have this thing about picking a side, and ONLY having anything to do with the other side, and then getting to work hating on the other side as much as possible. Who the fuck cares. I like some Transformers, i like some Gobots. Just like I like some SNES and Genesis games, or some Marvel and DC characters.I don't see the point in deciding to only ever like A company and forever seethe that B company continues to exist.
>>11267882Look at that distinguished fellow!
>>11269041>Seething GobotfagWhy do you have to become so defensive when the obvious flaws in your favorite series are pointed out?
>>11269131What flaws were pointed out?
>>11269163Gobots will always be dollar store knockoffsFans will always love Transformers moreMore people will remember Transformers and they will remain in the public consciousness while Gobots are a pathetic joke.
>>11269180>Gobots will always be dollar store knockoffsThats like saying Hot wheels are dollar store knockoffs of model cars. Different targets.
>>11269223More like comparing it to Tyco and Matchbox in the time before they were both purchased by Mattel in the 90s. Hotwheels had the wire axels that made them roll faster on their tracks. But again as a child I think most of us only cared about how cool the car was and not the manufacturer branding.
>>11269180Nah nah, go bots were leagues better than the knock offs at the time. My parents couldnt get me tf and rarely even go bots but i recall getting some transforming figure from walgreens as a kid that stunk.
