There was a KMart that was going out of business in 2018, and I found some figures from Attack of the Clones. Pretty crazy to think they sat there for 16 years.

Mine's similar. I stopped by a K-Mart in 2012 after not being one for years. It was filthy and looked like a warzone, and there was some Phantom Menace figure still sitting on one of the shelves.

For me, it was this store in town that had 1970s Lionel train sets. Do boomers just not want that kind of thing?

I live in Canada and I’m unsure of the policies on old products but nothing lingers here the oldest I’ve seen is probably force awakens toys at toysrus around 2021 2022
>>
Not really sure about the exact oldest, but KB toys used to pretty routinely have stuff that was half a decade old all the time and you'd never find elsewhere, I think they must have bought a lot of things wholesale from other toy stores?

back in 2007, I found a power of the jedi shmi skywalker for sale in a wal-mart

2017 I think, was in a Joann (craft store) and found a shelf of Beanie Babies that looked like they had been sitting there for decades. I looked at one of the tush tags and sure enough, 1999.
Did a quick ebay search on the spot for each of them, none were worth enough to disturb their resting place. So there they remained, for decades to come.

About a year ago I saw this Triple H monster truck from 2006 in a Ross. They had probably five or six on the shelf, all gone the next time I was there. Wonder where they were before Ross got them.

There are nearby Walgreens and CVS that still have SW prequel-trilogy figures for sale.

Not Canada but came across a couple Force Awakens figures of Zuvio still lingering on a shelf in 2023 at a big box toy store.

there's a puzzle store near the suburb where I live, I assume the person who owns it used to sell more action figures. They have some old (1990s? early 2000s) Spawn and some old DC Direct, Star Wars, and GI Joe.

Nothing really worth buying to try to flip, but if you were a collector, and wanted some of this stuff, it would be far cheaper that Mercari or EB. I picked up one toy when I first discovered it since it was reasonably priced and I like to support small business.

I wondered in there last month for presents, and I was looking for the large slinky toys for myself (not the tiny ones you can now find at Target) and the had some DC Direct pocket MOC for $4 so I picked up a few, thinking they would make good stocking stuffers.

I was surprised to find two different CVS that sold toys when I was hunting down a Hallmark ornament for a gift for someone. The ones I normally shop at didn't carry them.

Adventure Quest Worlds still for MSRP $40 at one of the last few TRU's

I remember there still being some Diamond and Pearl Era Pokémon toys in a Sears in mid-2013. And while it's not /toy/, but there were several copies of Metroid: Other M at the Wal-Mart in Fairbury, Nebraska as late as 2021.

The oldest I've ever seen was an old universe repack of transformers cybertron undermine in a family dollar in 2014 or 15. After that it was the Christmas miracle that is my energon Megatron, a figure I never saw at retail during Energon's run that showed up during ROTF at k-mart.

fucking LOL!
I actually came to this thread to post this photo because it's the first thing that came in mind.

This dude still can be found where i live:
(the funniest part it's standing next to Slugterra - one dead toyline from back then)

At a Spencers I worked at we found an OLD box of Iron Maiden figures that were to be 'discarded' so we tossed them in the dumpster and then I pulled them out after my shift.

At a TRU in the late 90's I found a really old supplement for TSR's Top Secret RPG game they sold to me for exactly 29 cents.

Boomers only really want post war Lionel sets. Anything past 1969 by comparison isn't valuable to collectors.
>>
>>11266048
And Ben 10 AF merch? That's some staying power they got over there. I miss Europe
>>
>>11266510
I honestly thought it was Pre-War that had the real money. Any reason why the Fundimendions are underdesirable.
>>
>>11266545
Pre War is where the actual money is, provided they are in good condition, but there aren't many left. Post War sets have the nostalgia value for Boomers. The plus is that if you are interested in actually running trains, the "MPC era" Lionel has some very good quality and reasonably priced secondhand stuff. Also good are Marx, K-Line and Williams.

mine were made before 1970 but bought second hand, obviously. unfortunately, after I went away to school, my mother put them out in a metal shed my dad built on a concrete block at the far end of the yard, where it got water damage, weather intrusion and even rats or something biting shit like the cardboard, logs and fake foliage from the trees. the tracks also had rust.
rescued what could be salvaged but it could never run again so had it up as decoration and when i moved again ten years later just gave it up to someone who said they could fix it

I worked at a Kay Bee outlet in it's final years around 2009. Found a few old things in there.

When we moved one of the aisles in 2006 or so, some collector stash was discovered. Machine Wars Optimus, Mirage, and another Mirage-ish looking one were stashed underneath a bottom panel of an aisle. some collector stuck them under there and forgot about them.

When taking down the counter the registers were on a stack of old 1990-ish candy was uncovered under a lot of boxes that probably haven't been moved since at least that time. Under those were a full box of non posable Smurfs figurines.

Right before covid lockdowns I found dragonheart toys from 1995 put out onto the shelves at the walmart in my hometown. Super crazy to see them so brand spanking new, they found a box hidden behind some storage space and decided to sell them at the advertised prices for then which was 5.99 a pop
>>
About 5 years ago it was still normal to see toys over a decade old at any given Rite Aid. They finally cleaned everything up during Covid.
There is liquidator near me with a great toy department and they will regularly stock a single toy that is over a decade old . I always assume they were lost under a shelf in a warehouse in bfe
