Tell me about Mumm-ra. What's his deal? What is his powers? Motivations? Cool/definite stories? And what's the best figure out there in the 6/7 inch scale?

All I can tell you is that when Im up all day without any sleep I just yell Mumm-ra out loud.

Honestly? I think he just wanted to fuck Cheetarah.

ive always liked 2011 Mumm-Ra

He just wanted to keep all damn dirty aliens off his planet.

He's a regular sized light blue skinned guy sorcerer who wears a red robe and mummy wrap in lieu of actual clothing and has a pug as his pet who is the only being he's nice too. In spite of what casuals might think, he's actually a third party villain in Thundercats; the mutant villains woke him up when they found his pyramid base (which he is stuck in, as he has to constantly sleep in a special crypt coffin and can only be out of it for 24 hour periods without dying) and woke him up.

Normal Mumm-ra is a generic sorcerer who specializes in illusion magic. He however, can borrow power from four "dark gods" to power up into his form that everyone associates with him (called Mumm-ra the ever living) which is basically Super Sayian Mumm-ra.

This form is insanely strong and tough, think Superman tier super strong, along with being the height of about two people. But he has two weaknesses: Sunlight straight up depowers him and turns him back to normal and a never explained curse that causes him to feel unspeakable physical pain if he sees his reflection.

As such, he's a cool character but super fucking lame in practice. He rarely leaves his base or uses his super form and if he does go out, he's in disguise. And his size issue makes him hard to translate into actual figure scale unless you say fuck it and ignore scale.

As far as best figures, either the Super 7 version (if you want a big Mumm-Ra who is show accurate) or track down the 2011 deluxe Mumm-Ra who IIRC can scale with Marvel Legends but just barely.

Motive-wise, he's basically charged by the Gods of Evil with keeping the planet where thundercats exists on in a state of stasis in so far as not allowing any advance civilization rise up after war left the place a wasteland of magic and random tech and medieval tier society. Because the Gods of Evil orchestrated the destruction of society on the planet via manipulating a nuclear war because they got pissed off that mankind had turned it's back on the supernatural (it's kind of vague in the cartoon but several episodes imply this).

Sadly Mumm-Ra has no real notable stories in the cartoon outside MAYBE one or two: one is him disguising himself so he can pump and dump Cheetara and the other is when the Gods of Evil get tired of him and teleport his dog to parts unknown and threaten to kill him if he doesn't kill Lion-O in 24 hours (and make good on the threat when he fails).

You can’t tell me he wasn’t looking at lion-o with those glistening abs in that sports bra get up he was wearing, lusting after that hairy sweaty piece of man cat

His main motivation in the show and why he cared about the Thundercats at all was mostly just destroying the Eye of Thundera. He only really cared about that and not nearly as much the Thundercats themselves. Defeating them was just a means towards destroying the eye.

The show was never clear on what exactly happened to Third Earth except that it definitely was future Earth. Episodes sort of waffled between it being a post WW3 scenario, Mumm-Ra destroyed civilization, or humanity just left the planet for space and ignored it afterward. The show constantly retconned the past stuff so much that it's impossible to hammer down a specific reason for anything.

how did it retcon stuff?
>>
It cracks me up that the 2011 Thundercats show just fucking ends with him getting a huge W cause they never continued it, so he essentially won in that universe.

Lots of random things are forgotten from one episode to the next, in what looks like writers not really paying attention to what each other wrote up, or cared since it was a cartoon. Off the top of my head
>Hachiman at first was just a samurai from someplace on third Earth that had a sword like Lion-O's. Then he was changed to being from another planet, then a third appearance he was an immortal ancient being similar to Mumm Ra.
>Berzerkers actually died in their first appearance, Mumm ra used Hammerhand's ghost to inhabit a clone of Panthro. Later on in a 5 part the Berzerkers were alive and pirating again.
>One episode the sword of omens broke, and only the fire of the sun could reforge it. Another time Bengali just fixed it.
>Ratar-O was alive, then dead, then an ancient warrior from a century ago, then alive again, then just vanished and his ship was being used by Vultureman.
>Thundera blew up in season 1, then it was just kind of back again in season 2. Then it had some ancient mystical being keeping it in one piece, none of that was explained. Also the Moons of Plundar were revolving around it too

Lots of villains of the day were defeated then not defeated, sometimes confirmed dead, and then the Mutants were randomly using their ships and stuff, it happened pretty often. Other side characters appeared and disappeared all the time too with no explanation. Tygra happened to have psychic powers all along, in just one episode. Cheetara did too once or twice. Mumm Ra also had a series of ancient wizard rivals that only appeared once each.
