Even McFarlane's nowadays are building a strong 3rd party community with custom torsos and chests to fix/improve the figures, Transformer's 3rd party kits are as old as Transformers themselves, Bandai DBZ kits are the most consistent 1/12 kits out there, GiJoe even has Valaverse etc, etc.
This makes me wonder why Marvel Legends, the probably most popular 1/12 scale toyline, highly customizable due to the softer PVC that it uses and the modular nature of their molds, completely lacks a strong 3rd party upgrade kit community/industry? you can literally count them with the fingers in your hand, Metaverse customs (the only consistent kit designer, still unpainted 3d pieces not proper kits) NOTA Studio (not even for ML anymore), one12props (just clothing and capes) and UndergroundJunkHole that makes mostly McFarlane kits but sometimes a few ML kits, maniple studios that makes one kit a year and that's it
this is a goldmine, every single ML is a kit away from being a great action figure, but somehow no company shows interest in making them like DNA for Transformers Studio Series.
a kit of an alt head + six hands + cloth cape/tunic/hood + two effect pieces for $35 would throw most MLs to the imports category
even upgrade body parts like chest/ass pieces for female figures and alt heads for the male figures would sell for good money, that SHF Scarlet Witch chest piece sold out like 5 times by now between the two companies who made that kit, 5 batches sold out for a chest piece that wasn't even a nude chest it showed a little bit of cleavage. Only the guy who made the Extremis Iron man torso set actually showed some interest and that thing sold out too, the market is there, all MLs are customizable with heat, is the perfect toyline for upgrade kits and this grinds my gears to be honest

Can't improve perfection

All the MLs would stop being turds if they had at least two sets of alt hands and expressive alt heads
>>
They just need bigger tits. What else could be improved?

Also they need to just put articulation in the marvel rivals 3d models and try to match the paint and they would sell 20 million units.

>They just need bigger tits. What else could be improved?
Alt heads are needed, 99% of MLs come with the same dead expression, kills the whole sculpt
>>
>>11276687
>a kit for $35
Right there is the reason why. Most ML collectors are already frustrated enough with how much they cost right now so why expect them to pay even more? Especially for less than that same money they can just go buy another ML and be satisfied enough. That isn't also going into for that kind of money they could just buy the import version of a character (if it exists) all in one package instead of tediously buying the figure + kit separately.
>>
>>11276687
I think a big issue is that with actual replacement parts (rather than extra accessories or hands) or something relatively minor like a headsculpt, by the time you've spent the money on upgrades to make the figure half-decent, you could have just bought a better figure. MLs suffer from seriously antiquated engineering even compared to other Hasbro offerings, and if you're gonna spend upwards of $50 on a figure, you might as well buy an import.
It's not like with Transformers where each figure is pretty unique and where an upgrade kit can push an "OK" figure over the edge into being awesome. An ML with a better chest or head is still an ML.
Though I will say that there's definitely a gap in the market for 3D printing files for ML parts; obviously not everyone has a 3D printer, but if you do it's definitely more cost effective to print your own parts rather than buy pre-made, even with the specialist resin.

>Most ML collectors are already frustrated enough with how much they cost right now so why expect them to pay even more?
Bullshit, look at the Sabretooth 2pack or Punisher 2 pack, MLdrones can happily pay $55 for a 2pack even if one character in the pack costs $10 on ebay and the main figure still lacks a lot of things, they're paying $45 for a still incomplete figure, $60 for an "ultimate" version of a character sounds just fine, Hasbro itself is already doing it with Phoenix and Odin.
She Hulk for example, a kit of a new chest + torso, 2 sets of expressive hands and one alt angry/screaming head for $35 and you have the best She Hulk ever made, it's a no-brainer
>>
>>11277747
yeah if Warbird had one extra angry or smiling head, better chest and heels it would've been the ultimate Ms Marvel figure.
People tend to forget that Mafex' sculpts are too vanilla most of the time, that's why their angry female headsculpts all look the same, ML lacks a bit of juice in all their releases, upgrade kits would put them in the next level way ahead of Mafex
>>
>>11276707
not everyone is using a piece of plastic as a sex toy, son
>>
>>11276687
Personally, I don't want to pay $30 for my marvel legends to look slightly better with a new head sculpt. I like MLs overall but it is sort of like putting lipstick on a pig.
>>
>>11276687
Most Mcfarlanes are botched so that leads to a lot of customizing to get them right. Plus Mis sometimes sky rocket in price because it is mostly about the character rather than how good the figure is

* MLs
>>

This. Each Legend often has many more problems that could and should be fixed aside from just a new head or a new chest. If you have to buy multiple upgraded parts to make it decent, why not just buy a fully customized figure at that point?

Whereas Mythic Legions and other lines that have vast custom part markets aren't under delivering as much as most Legends are. Mythic Legions aren't promising or tying to be super articulated figures. Most Legends require extensive mods just to have the super articulation done like they should have been in the first place.
>>
>>11276687
>why not ML?
You lot throw a tantrum when your toy is over $20, there isn't a market for third party.
>>
>>11277923
collecting shirtless he-man figures as a child turned you into a faggot gramps we get it, the rest of us however like women.
>>
>>11276687
I see some stray custom pieces on ebay, I saw a set of 3d printed she hulk boobs some time ago, but I dont see them up anymore. They looked to be popular.

>>11276707
>They just need bigger tits. What else could be improved?
actually doing that would be a start

you have the literacy of a 5yo, OP says multiple parts, not just an alt head
One12Props Doom set turns him into the best Doom figure for $70, $30 Doom + $40 soft goods set
you forgot that people are still buying a shitty set of metal claws for wolverine for $15 to fix a problem that it's fixable with swapping the order of the claws, I'm sure you don't even collect ML
>>
>>11278656
>Just pay more money than what the figure costs on its own to try and make it decent
LOL
LMAO even.

Is it worth buying that old 2-pack for that torso swap?
>>
>>11278725
better get the custom 3d one from metaverse it's the same mold I think and you'll have to repaint the skin anyways if you buy the 2 pack because the skin tone is different
it is a game changer IMO, the original Widow looks so boring with the regular chest
>>
>>11278723
>I don't agree with you therefore I'm a buzzword
Your brain is more cooked than the boogeymen you call out. Post YOUR toys, faggot. Better, post all the upgrade kits you own too.

same, that's why I'm not interested in those 3d custom pieces, why do chinks waste all that production for $15 Revoltech bootlegs instead of producing prepainted chest/ass pieces for $20 like the guys from Maniple and their Scarlet Witch tits piece, that thing sells for 3x the price nowadays despite being a single plastic piece and not even a whole figure
yet those chinks keep producing entire painted figures like the latest MAF Wolverine
>>
>>11278812
>>Why are chinks making 15 dollar KOs that are better than 25 dollar ML, rather than custom parts for my shitty overpriced ML
KEKW
>>
>>11278812
CT toys releases are often fan voted they choose popular figures that people want and then make a good copy that is good value. No one wants shitty Marvel Legends shit.
>>
>>11278823
You make it sound like CT toys is the major corporation in every Target and Walmart and Hasbro is the struggling KO maker
