Oh no no no!We would like to inform you that, starting January 7th, 2025, DHL shipping rates have been revised. The changes are as follows:- USA/Canada: An increase of approximately 20-30% compared to previous rates.- Rest of the World: An increase of approximately 3% compared to previous rates.
Owari da.
>>11277534At what point is it just cheaper to buy the hiked up prices from domestic stores?
>>11277542It's been pretty much on par for the last year or so.
>>11277542Just wait until the tariffs though.
is this why my proxy switched to ups
>>11277534Source?
>>11277564Literally Amiami's front page on their website.
>>11277534People still buy from amiami? Jesus christ that's horrifying.
Don't care. Never use DHL because they are GIGGA-AIDS as a Canadian.
>>11277534I'm European and rarely use DHL so whatever.
>>11277534They made EMS a viable option
>>11277592Yeah. You see, HLJ still occasionally accept more preorders than they can fulfil, so you might preorder something only to find out you are shit out of luck once it has sold out everywhere else. Hobby Genki like to ignore you for a month when you request to ship your private warehouse, and then when they finally decide to communicate, they take forever to ship. Also their "Pay later" emails sometimes never come when payment is due. And Nin Nin Game still like to underquote shipping costs and are really slow to ship once you do pay. They are probably the least shit out of them all.And then there is Hobbysearch. "Me no understand you account now ban."Shit's fucking dire.
>>11277617So you live in a second or third world shithole?
>>11277671>HLJ still occasionally accept more preorders than they can fulfilAbsolutely hate that.Order something and then suddenly it's sat in backorder limbo forever with no updates.
>>11277671It appears that an American with some capital could open up an export business in Japan to become a solid avenue for japcrap. They don't seem to care, for all the talk about salary men, they seem to hate making money.
>>11277840I'm sure HLJ is run by an American. I'm sure I got an email once and the name was distinctly not Japanese. But an American with better business acumen could really change the retail landscape for us filthy gaijin.
I'm considering going with BBTS
>>11277611Yeah Amiami changed my only shipping option to DHL and I just keep sending back requests to go back to air mail. I've sent about 7 now and an email saying I'm not shipping DHL. After customs hit it's going to be more than the figure by about 10 bucks. Fuck that. I only PO'ed him because he was cheap. Canada Post strike is over, fuck off. Cancel it then.
>>11277534The world cannot function like this
>>11277866>Mexico makes their own stuff all the time.Dead hookers aren't a very valuable commodity.
Is this just amiami or everywhere?
>>11277534That sucks though I can't say I've ever used DHL unless it was the only option available, normally I use airmail or small packet, a 30% increase for Americans/Canadians is insane though, hopefully the yen being in freefall helps offset that for them.
>>11277944Depends on the price of the item for me. I did DHL for Figuarts Gavv, but I did airmail for Revoltech Ryu Hayabusa.
>>11277908Everywhere, DHL announced a few months back about price hikes to take effect Jan 1st.
I dont know how people stand Ordering off these import sites where a huge part of the Cost is shipping and some won't even tell you what the shipping cost will be as soon as you make the order. Some say you will find out later and whatever it is you'll have to pay it. Absurd and not customer friendly at all. Import sites could destroy BBTS and other local retail if they just provided an easy and headache free way to order imports. Increase the price of every item a little bit and then make shipping free for example so as to build the shipping into the item's price.
>>11277534seems that DHL already priced in the tariffs that we don't even know will happen. what a boneheaded way to run a business.
So if I order something in the next few days using a proxy service I should still get the not-raised prices?
>>11278131If it ships before 1/1/25
This is why I do my best to combine orders or utilize private warehouse features so I can ship multiple items together. It ends up being a lot cheaper to do it that way. This blows though, I usually use DHL too. The Yen being worth fractions of a penny though should help a tad.
>>11278046>but but they save so much ordering from import shops!!!
>>11277534DomesticGODS win again.
>>11277840From what I've heard it's notoriously difficult to setup business in Japan as a foreigner. And I'd assume the kinda money you'd get from such a business specializing in this stuff is probably pennies to anyone with the resources to set it up in the first place.>>11277534Whelp, this is fucked.Luckily for me I travel to Japan in February, but goddamn.
>>11278341That legitimately used to be the case. Now, between the rise of shipping costs and a lot of import companies finding distribution in the west and thus able to sell directly on domestic sites, the advantage of importing is going away.
>>11277534Well, everything else has gotten worse, so why not shipping prices too?
>>11277534time to go back to EMS I guess... DHL was pretty affordable for awhile but 30% is a lot.
>>11278402Didn't say BBTS, retard. You know Amazon exists? Or are you too autistic to use the internet yourself?
>>11277534>regional hub blackholes every EMS package for a week without movement (and has lost 3 packages this year)>DHL was cheaper and arrived in two daysfuck
USPS is probably going to get worse too.
>>11278581I've read they have cancelled some contracts with UPS and FedEx, so very likely.
>>11277731He didn't say USA.
>>11278581Without a doubt since red team wants to privatize it.
>>11278581rates for all shipping are going to go up yeah. and its going to get slower.
>>11277843>I'm sure HLJ is run by an AmericanYup. Well, HLJ was started by an American guy in Japan anyways. Don't know if he's still the owner or not though. Anyways, guy's name is Scott. He's a really cool dude and fun to talk to if you're over there and ever see him at a convention. Years and years ago the guy basically went "why the fuck is there no business dedicated to getting all this stuff to Americans", so he made one himself and was pretty much successful overnight. It's actually ASTOUNDING that nobody else has tried to copy him since it's a recipe for instant success.
3% is not so bad but I could see America revolting over it
>>11278384I don't know that any Japanese companies are selling directly on domestic sites unless you mean their own domestic sites like pbandai and good smile us, but their prices are pretty high and you wont get much in the way of sales unless its an absolute stinker of a figure.
>>11278156>>11278381>>11278384>>11278631>>11279546Why can't Americans make their own toys? It's 2024 you can 3D print everything you want nowadays.
>>11279628same reason you can’t come up with a new shitpost chungus
>>11277534Jesus, 30% is quite a bump. Thankfully I only have one import on preorder and that doesn't release until March so I'm changing the shipping to EMS right now. It was nice getting the 1-3 day delivery for a while but oh well.
People actually use DHL? I've not had a single positive experience with them. I am not exaggerating when I say every single package I got from them was crushed.Doesn't matter if the figure inside was fine. Why would I want crushed packages when I can pay slightly more for not crushed packages? It was only a matter of time until a figure got broke as a result.
>>11279770DHL for me has been really fast and reliable. But I live near one of their distribution centers. I’m not really eager to go back to EMS because my local post office sucks.
>>11279770I've never had this issue, but it seems hit and miss depending on what country you live.
>>11277534This is gonna be mega AIDS with amiami since those fucks overpackage their shit and always use a box at least one size too big.
>>11277534DHL really said fuck north america specificly. i never used them and im not in NA, what the fuck is the sudden increase though?
>>11280679Trade war soon, fellow S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
>tfw not a burger or a fucking leafhad me scared for a moment there OPstill damn that sucks for anyone there, wonder if at this point EMS is going to just be better outright.
>>11279770I ordered two gifts from the DC shop for the holidays, and bought some stuff for myself to get the free shipping, and everything came from different places - two vendors used DHL but DHL used the post office to do the "final mile" (and everyone else does this, even Crapazom and Fed Ex use this as it can be cheaper for them). Because the address was incomplete from DHL, the packages (which would have arrived before the 25th) were 'returned' but the post office still shows them sitting here in my hometown (or the main county USPS distribution center?) and the vendors won't reship them until they have them back.
>>11280679I can’t speak for Canada but for the US It’s not about the trade war, our post office is getting fucked by the government so they are cutting the discounts to handle rural packages for companies like DHL and UPS as they can no longer afford it. This means rate increases for the customer. Fedex similarly is losing its contract and will probably become shitty to use if you live outside of a city metro because they won’t be able to rely on the post office at all.
>>11280868Damn. Guess Canuckcucks needs to import more Indians to fix this.
>>11278154>>11278131>>11278043>>11277534I'm confused, did it already take effect Jan 1st, is it taking effect in like 4 hours on Jan 7th (or did it already go into effect since it's Jan 7th in Japan already), or is it going into effect on Jan 25th?
>>11279251Because not everyone wants to live and work in japan or deal with their shitty suppliers and local taxes.
DHL is doing so well that amiami is now not even able to sustain the traffic their site generates:"Access Restriction NoticeDue to high traffic on our website, the maximum number of simultaneous connections has been reached. Please try again a little later."
>>11279770They're not the best, but the only time I've ever had a problem was when I got a Digivolving Spirits Agumon off AmiAmi, right before Covid hit.Ordered that bastard in December, didn't get him until Summer.
Canadabros...
>>11288269Um... Mandarake just shipped a package for me.
>>11288270By DHL? EMS? SAL? be more specific, bud
>>11288269Also, I like how Hobby Search just randomly decided to call me the whitest name in existence.
>>11280826The funniest thing, I checked on some sites, and PR, right next to the USA and one of their territories and the rates are lower. Very weird, since packages have to go through the United States, before making their way to PR.
>>11287942>Jan 25th?1st of Jan 2025. We ain't in year 1.
>>11277731Europe is fourth world-tier with first world infrastructure.
