Personally I want "The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World" to get some and they must be AY. A good workaround to doing Sentai (and others hint hint) without being Bandai. Not as direct as DK figmas but the designs for this series are actually decent for a homage, parody types. Like they feel they could be on TV Sunday morning. Other 2 I can think of are not that well thought out.

I had no idea it was getting an anime so hoping there might be a small chance.

What a waste of time most of these projects are when they could do actual good shit that deserves proper revos

The other basic EVAs including 03 seem like a no brainer, and so will be her angel form. I guess we always got Angels in the past but a cop out one. It would be stupid to make 01 and not design her so a few molds change you can get a half dozen or so EVAs.. Even more baddies EVAs with a different abdomen section.
Rebuild's Zeruel is weird, it's no longer a somewhat humanoid form but more like a Tenga then an octopus. Or that half Rei form that's even more of a mess with the head section. Also really huge for both forms so forget scaling. I think more than the TV ver. If they intended to do Zeruel they picked TV versions for everyone from the start.

I forgot how huge Zeruel was in Rebuild. Honestly I wouldn't complain if they did OG Zeruel instead. The Angels all have such abstract designs that apart from the ones I listed plus Shamsel, and Israfel from the OG series, most of them just wouldn't make decent figures, or would be so insanely huge as to be impractical. Sahaquiel fits both categories. Maybe the Third Angel from the start of 2.0 would be decent.
Though if Kaiyodo wants to give me a Ramiel model kit including several forms that will require me to assemble a hundred polyhedrons into a specific configuration, i won't complain.

This conjecture is all based on the fact that Maoji sculpted the MHA SHFs, but doesn't take into account that as far as we know, Maoji (until we hear otherwise) is independent and gets contracted to sculpt figures for each company instead of being an in-house designer.

Acquiring licenses is never a bad thing, especially when you get access to action series that AY is known for. KT gets them an in with NG, DOA, and Atelier, and if they felt inclined there's infinite Dyansty Warriors characters to go through.
As long as they're playing ball with Capcom, I think DMC's on the table, simply because that would fit well with the line. I think they're focused on MonHun and Street Fighter currently because that's what Capcom is focused on, but it wouldn't be a big stretch to sneak in a Dante somewhere. And if Dante's popular, they'd get incentive for Nero and Vergil, and so on.
Personally I'd like them to go hard with a variety of Capcom figures and give us what would amount to an unofficial MvC line, but that might be pushing it.

If you pay more attention though, the characters' poll numbers for Japan are very close together. Where as for the favorite games/series DMC is not that high for Japan. These results don't speak "Dante is mega popular even in Japan" but just one of many. Like how certain anime is popular in the States but are nothing or mediocre in Japan. So for Revoltechs, a line clearly aimed towards Japan, I don't think his chance is any stronger than most Capcom IPs, certainly weaker than what they're doing now. Plus there are many other big name IPs currently being explored it just seems more unlikely now compared to say we just knew about MH AYs were coming. Maybe if the other Capcom revos they tried first all failed miserably.

Where did this Revoltech resurgance come from? For the past few years it felt like they only did some Marvel, DC and MHA stuff but now they're getting more anime licenses. It's nice to have choices between figma and revo again depending on what design you prefer again.

As far as wishes for new IPs:

A modern Dante and more DMC characters would be ace. Never got the old DMC3 revo but I'm sure they can do much better now.

Bayonetta would also be fun to have a good 1/12ish scale action figure of her on the market.

I wonder if Marvel Rivals will inspire a Psylocke reissue. Missed the boat on that.

If they're working with capcom, I'd love to see some SNK stuff since STORM figures are just a little to upscale for my taste. The Kyo and Iori figmas didn't seem to ignite much afterwards.

I can't think to much anime IPs I'm gunning for that aren't already handled by figma and SHF but I'm willing to be surprised. I'd go for a wild card pick of the Skeleton Knight in another world just because I'm usually game for Skeletons and Knights action figures.

Now if some gacha games wanted more merch out there there's def some granblues or nikkes that would make some fun revos.

I can think of two factors, maybe three. One is Kaiyodo got bought out. This happened a while ago and I'm not sure how long something like an increase of licenses takes in the background. But if the performance was unfavorable the solution by powers that be would be something like do more popular stuff.
Second one is the change in distributors. There use to be three, Kaiyodo for Geo and Takeya, Kenelephant for AY, and Union Creative for Evangelion. Now it's all Kaiyodo. So by saving money cutting out the middleman they might have moved on to doing more. They needed some adjustment period so this might line up better with the rate of increase.
Third is more short term change, and that is due to the poor performance by Kaiyodo 2020 and on. Massively in the red and barely in the black last year, they need to increase sales big and fast. So trying out a bunch of different and popular licenses is one way to deal with the problem.

Not sure are you talking about, the ball joints of the body? I didn't notice but ball socket joints are known to be wild in tightness from loose to tight. I usually have to sand down one of like the main four (hips, waist, torso). Some AYs they are all loose like Wonder Woman, first issue Deku, etc.

BUT my Dabi was broken out of the box. One of the two hinges for the uhhh side-torso joints? The two sides of the jackets moves like the standard AY shoulder blade rotations. But not much ideally? One peg hole was split open. I glued the whole thing back on, since it doesn't do much for articulation in this instance. . Otherwise he's good.

In the body, yeah. Specifically the one connecting his upper torso to the abs. I tried reattaching it after fixing the break but it was so tight that I swear I saw the socket flexing outwards when it was connected. The peg survived that shit though so I guess it means my fix worked. Just have some sanding to do.

I see. Yeah never had a ball joint so strong it snaps the shaft. Iron Spider was sort of like that with strong ball joint but the peg was just glued into the torso, being much weaker it did came off. But I just sand it down and glued the peg back into the torso no worries.

And yes those side pegs sticking out, the socket for that was split open and couldn't stay on. It's interesting way to maybe share the inner frame for other AY?

Anyone have an idea why BBTS doesn't have Genos up for PO? I already ordered from Genki with the bonus but also noticed Genki doesn't have a separate listing of the figure without a bonus. Is this normal for Revoltech?

Separate question but how do you see who sculped the figure? I've read Yamaguchi is leaving, I'm late to the party so just trying to figure things out.

Most accurate way is kyd-store but amiami usually tells you in the description. Before it gets there the announcements usually tells you but in Japanese. Anons here talks about sculptors all the time so you get a good idea being here.

Earlier, mid~late 90's. He did a bunch of garage kits, non articulated mechas before all that. Then articulated ones like Gaogaigar. Then Evangelion was the first PVC articulated completed figures I believe.

Recently stumbled upon the Kaiyodo Figure Museum right next to Osaka Castle during my trip to Japan last month. It was so sick seeing the history of Revoltech and Kaiyodo in general. They had an entire section of dioramas which were gorgeous. Shout out to the Trigun display though.

What do you mean by "scales", honestly? Eva's height is always all over the place (I recently learned how huge Mark06 is compared to the others). Minus One Godzilla is much smaller than the recent vers because it had no need to be around skyscrapers.

Bigger EVA-01 would be Robo-Dou or Metal Build? RG kits, Moderoid, and Revoltech 01 like the Natayanagi ver (looks more normal if you take of the thigh armors) are all similar in size, like a head taller than typical 1/12 human action figures.

I would wait for the new AY ver to see what it's like.But I doubt the size will differ that much. Kaiyodo also have statues but they are huge typically. The ARTPLA ones might be better sized but you have to paint them. 01 for example is solid purple plastic.

I think it's the sculpt more so than the joint setup. Can't see the shoulders so nothing to say yet, but I think the thigh swivel isn't angled like how Yamaguchi does it. Just normal straight rotation and the muscular sculpts are overlapping the thighs a little. But they seem to ditch that awful looking hip system completely and just use ball joints even for the monsters.

Nta but I have the gitd version, and let me tell you that that fucker went through a lot and the things that broke were the horn (piece of shit snapped after the years) and part of the armor from the back (my fault because he had fallen from distance plenty of times).
So this Eva is really durable, the ratched joints have become quite loose as time passed but besides the two reasons given above nothing else is broken, and still those two were more my fault for being rough with my stuff.

If you're cool with rebuild, No.100 and later is the better option. If you're okay with 01's face which was the oddest one Yamaguchi has made. The other units are fine though. Evangelion Evolution line are mostly the same post 100 Evas but in a new box, some accessories swapped around. Eventually they made some new Evas.

DMC doesn't have that big of impact in Japan, at least not as dominating compared to overseas. Sure one of the first 3 Revos was him for that Super, Real, and Humanoid types they were going for initially. But back then IP didn't matter as much.

Speaking of MHA, I noticed something with Ochako. She has a thigh cut rotation which is always an eyesore especially a straight cut across zero detailing area. And they're completely pointless because the knee joints can rotate plenty enough already. You know one of the benefits Revoltech had from the start with their spherical joints. How her hip joints are designed can be done with ball joints too including the crotch cover pieces, SHF does that lots of times. So there's no need for the thighs to be 2 pieces sandwiching hinge joints. What I'm saying is Maoji is an idiot. Her size is off anyways so if more MHA means more of his involvement I wish it's dead. Toga's wrists are awful looking, the guy maybe able to sculpt but can't engineer action figures.

This Revoltech isn't a Revoltech in the sense that it uses the joints that the new Revoltechs and AY are using, the joints used in the old ones aren't used to begin with. This Mazinger Z is like the AY Optimus Prime. It is closer to a model kit than a PVC action figures like Revoltechs, figma, ML, DC Multiverse, etc.

So something to play with isn't really what this one might be. Compared to like an AY Spider-Man for example. The plastic type that makes up the bulk of the figure is different.

Assuming the shoulders are articulated like Neos, he should be able to get a bit better across the chest, but he does also have a lot of shit all over him due to design. Legs should be able to get all the usual articulation as they look pretty standard. That said, elbows and knees do appear to be fully single jointed with no deep cut, so elbows seem a bit more than 90, while knees seem to hit 90 if just. He'll definitely be more limited than Neos who had double joints and a clean design, and of course AY figures.

Like anon has said, the revoltech/AY anons think of of coming with heaps of stuff is done with use of repeats of a few parts. So the number of unique molds are kept low as possible. The outlier to this is someone like Deadpool who clearly sells and afford a bigger budget without risks.

So to get a lot of option parts, first the parts have to be something that can be repeated and not be worthless. As in you can use many at once. For Genos maybe lightning effects that can wrap around him? Not so much a must have. And for anons saying IM style module parts, AY hasn't done such creative made up gimmick outside of DC and Marvel. Actually never for DC IIRC. Japanese media have very specific sources and the AY of those don't go that off script from them. Only thing really missing for Genos is the transformed arms cannon and that thing is very complex. Easily could cost like half a Revoltech with paints and assembly of parts.

So you have the appropriateness of repeated pieces, and then if the subject even has the need for/popular enough for/allows invention of more unique parts/molds. That haven't changed really. The price points might have prevented some from getting that repeated parts treatment to keep it under 10000 Yen. But not giving the Revo unnecessary parts to keep price lower isn't a new movement. They haven't had a series fixed price in ages. They came with stuff that make sense when it made sense.

The Dasin or whatever it was was okay but felt a bit derivative.
The Figma was awful.
The AY is great and does what I wanted it to, but it just didn't go quite as far as I had hoped.

Do you just mean you expected more accessories? Considering the price, he comes with a decent bit. Blasts, thrusters, rocket fists, blades. Sure he doesn't have his combining arm cannon but what were the odds of that ever happening? It would be overall bigger than the actual figure. He's pretty much set to do everything he did while he wore his outfit, which was fight Garou and Elder Centipede. I wonder if by the time S3 shows up we might (probably not right away but soon) get a proper S3 Genos. Or maybe like with MHA, Bandai will swoop in and do the current arc stuff while Kaiyodo is left to do older looks.

I don't hate the initial look of his Jaw Titan, I just prefer Porco and Marcel's look as the Jaw. They look like midget wrestlers wearing angry hockey masks. I just don't think the Titans' scaling will be that accurate. Beast won't be that big or Jaw that small. Just slightly bigger and slightly smaller compared to the first 3 releases. And then the Mega Sofvi will be about the same as the others which is underscaled but big enough that idk the few thousand people who gets it will be satisfied.

I'm just happy Kaiyodo is making a Revo Izutsumi, wish Marcille and Laios would also be made but they already have upcoming Figmas sadly.

I feel like Kaiyodo has Kinnikuman in mind for break glass situation for AY. Similar to the Revol-Mini, they can pump out several characters with mostly shared parts. It's like one of the most profitable for the least costs, and timing doesn't really matter. There are slight ups and downs sure like the new anime or when manga came back but I don't think coming out now or 10 years in the future, 10 years ago makes a huge difference. When shits get real bad and they can't afford high paint and parts number for a reasonably priced action figure they can go on life support with Kinnikuman.

A nice thought for fans of Kinnikuman, maybe, but who knows. People keep talking about AY blanks, but the old Revoltech Kinnikuman could become just about fully a blank back with that old release, coming with a blank face and otherwise just have red trunks and boots.

Wonder Fest is coming up in the next couple weeks, so maybe we'll get to see both more from existing franchises as well as some new stuff that they're working on. What we're looking forward to/expecting sounds like a reasonable OP question once that's made.
