As we approach the new year, first off, I want to say to all of you in the /toy/ community: I wish you all a happy new year!Second, as we've seen in the past, the future of Star Trek toys and action figures is uncertain and in peril. We have no idea if the IP will be profitable for toys like it was in the '90s.Though we have the new Nacelle figures, I feel the character choices are unwise and odd. Playmates also showed little care with the license and made a poor attempt at rebooting it.Do we have any hope for Star Trek toys in 2025 and 2026, with the 60th anniversary and a potential new Star Trek theatrical movie in 2026? We do know that LEGO is working on a Star Trek: The Next Generation set, thanks to leakers, which will be interesting to see. LEGO, for sure, will likely do a good job with it.Hopes? Speculations? How would you reboot Star Trek for a retail toy line? Is there a future for Star Trek, or is it a dead IP? Will Skydance save it?Let’s discuss.Star Trek General Archive:https://archive.palanq.win/toy/search/subject/Star Trek /
>>11281278>Voyager engineering roomThey dun fucked up
>>11281278Who the fuck is going to spend $220 on a Wesley??? I like Exo-6, but this was a misstep from them. The likeness isn’t even good.
>>11281278Awful
>>11280564Cute
>>11280555Did they ever make a movie Enterprise version of this? That one was always my favorite of the Trek ships.
>>11281352I think his name is Wil Wheaton. He'll buy them.
>>11280555Would be nice if we got an Enterprise-E around this size. Same with a Defiant.
>>11282083Playmates never made one either and it's one of their more bizarre omissions.Personally I prefer the originals to the modern ones because the voice samples always tie them to a specific film, which is why I never bought the Diamond Select refit, I was sort of hoping they'd make a TMP version even though it's visually the same.
>>11282131He probably commissioned it to get made.
Who the fuck is paying $60+ for Fanhome's models when they're Eaglemoss in all but name? The Titan-A has the same disastrously misaligned windows as Eaglemoss's worst offerings.
>>11282133True
>>11280555I heard Spin Master might get the license, but a lot depends on Paramount and whether they proceed with the new movie. Playmates Toys got the license again because they were going to produce movie toys, which never happened since the new film didn’t move forward. So their Trek line didn't have a good boost and ended. Hopefully, this new iteration will move forward. Spin Master presented a pitch to Paramount on the toys they would make, including playsets and figures, with a focus on unique alien characters from Star Trek as well as legacy ones that look interesting, not just the old boring uniform characters. They also proposed an Enterprise model that can fit one or two action figures inside.
>>11282622I feel like for a Trek line to succeed the franchise needs a boost, but I also think they need to really push playsets for the 4-5 inch figures, alongside high-detailed ships. I have a fuckton of classic Playmates figures and I'd love a Quark's Bar or 10 Forward for them to hang out in.
When are the Nacelle toys coming out?
>>11282657They were kino
>>11281289>They dun fucked upWhat else would you expect from EXO-6? Barely any of the face-sculpts look like the actors.>>11282424Always amazes me how it seems impossible to get either decent model kits or pre-made starships. Considering all the CGI assets these days, they should be able to just use that data to make a 3D print and cast it for relatively accurate kits etc.
>>11282665I could see the Lego set doing ten forward and the bridge like that.
>>11282681I don’t think lego would do a bar
>>11282688They've included references to alcohol in the past and even gave Thor a keg in that one Thor set. Also they've done multiple Mos Eisley Cantina sets.
>>11280555https://toynewsi.com/488-56181Nacelle Toys Wants Your Input For Their Second Wave Of Star Trek 1/12 Figures
>>11282843I worry they’ll even make it to wave 2 with the abysmal wave 1 lineup
>>11282875What were they thinking?
>>11282875>>11282878They probably thought people were sick of every company picking up the license, only doing Kirk & Spock and then dropping it, plus many of these have never had figures before, not even during Playmates' heydayWhat scale are these anyway?
>>11282895Sure, but these are lame
Are these cancelled?
>>11282895If that was the case, at least give us other bridge crew first or at the very least memorable characters. I don’t think anyone was asking for Peter Preston, Valktis, Captain Garrett, Tuvix, or Mirror Archer. That’s over half of your initial wave.
>>11282903No? Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are instock at BBTS and they’ve got most of the other crew up for preorder except Uhura.
>>11282905Ah cool
>>11282622I can see them do it
>>11282665What was on the other flap?
>>11282665I had a Millennium Falcon that did this
>>11284080It was this one wasn't it
>>11282622>>11282657There's no reason they couldn't make lines for the TV shows. They should have done Picard, for example, and Lower Decks would have been an easy one, since it would be a cross between actual action figures and something like the Marvel Spidey and his Amazing Friends or Imagine Next DC Superheroes that are very kid friendly. Instead, they did this >>11282878And I do agree that they should do B and C list and rare characters but a better initial wave would have been say half Voyager/half DS-9
>>11282131>Stan, go up to your room and play with yourself
>>11284224>There's no reason they couldn't make lines for the TV showsNobody gives a shit about nu-Trek, that's why.
>>11282424I dont remember all that splotchy paint on the hull in the show, shouldnt it be aztec paneling?
>>11284249True
>>11282878I'd get Valkris because booba.
>>11282895>What scale are these anyway?7 inch like McFarlane
>>11291098oh
>>11284224>unironically believing lower decks merchandise could sell, let alone picard merchlolmao
>>11284077The brig
