I've been looking for a good clear display shelf, I was recommended Ikea's detolf but it looks like its been discontinued. Will I be good just grabbing any copycat off amazon or are there any recommended alternatives?
>>11281010We had a thread talking about glass display cases about a month back with a few links to different ones. If you've got the space for them, the double door ones are a better option than the detolf knock offs imo.https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/11250364/#11251240
>>11281130Unfortunately I don't have the space for that which is why I'm opting for detolf knock offs
>>11281010why did IKEA discontinue deltof anyway? it was like a best seller
>>11282031designer hated /toy/the detolf was intended to show off kitchenware and vasesdesigner had it taken down from ikea
>>11282032wow what a stupid reason
>>11282032>>11282033If you're referring to that interview from that toy site that was fake.Unless there's another one where the actual designer came out about that, but it doesn't really make sense because Ikea still offers display cabinets that look similar to the detolf.
>>11282031IKEA discontinues things from time to time, like a little metal locker I had my eyes on for a time. Sometimes they come back updated.
>>11282031Maybe it got too expensive to produce or something. I remember they had made the shelves thinner with like half the weight capacity by the end and they were like $130 compared to the $60 they started as.>>11282039I feel like that was probably one of the most successful parody stories there was since nobody knew what the hell toyfarce was back then and just saw it on toynewsi. A bunch of people, myself included, fell for it at first.
>>11282031They sell these now. Not sure how good they are. I would prefer a smaller one
>>11282857>$80Actually not a terrible price. I wonder how the quality is or if it's a bit sturdier than the detolf.
Some one a year or two ago recommended a Neutype glass cabinet to me, finally magaed to get one last summer. I had issues with mine being delivered, first one to my house and it was completely shattered before it got off the truck, second was to Lowes, and they only shipped half (it comes in two boxes) and the third finally got there complete and in one piece. It was pretty easy to assemble and looks really nice, I don't feel like it's going to break or anything.
I'm kind of really, truly, absolutely, totally surprised that there's not a company out there who expressly understands there's a market for action figure buyers wanting glass-enclosed shelving with LED lights built-in. It's confounding.
>>11282942>Some one a year or two ago recommended a Neutype glass cabinet to me,If it was in a similar display/cabinet thread on here, that might've been me. Sounds like you went through a hassle, but glad it worked out in the end. But, yeah, got mine early 2023 from Lowes and it's held up well. Looking at my detolfs and seeing the metal frame on the sides kind of annoys me now.>>11283017Some cabinets are starting to implement them. I mentioned this one last thread. Someone reviewed it on youtube since then and compared it with detolfs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIrx62zdm2Qhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DF7G3BPQ/
>>11281010I have an Ikea Fabrikor and I love it. The viewing angles aren't great, but it's super sturdy.
>>11282857>I would prefer a smaller one
>>11283496sides are shitty perforated metal. whole thing gets dusty af easy
>>11283528Then clean it, you lazy bum.
>>11283825it's gonna get dusty on the stuff inside the cabinet. I'd rather minimise the amount of cleaning I do
