I plan to buy the movie sonic figures since they have so much articulation.

Can someone explain why the main figures have less articulation than the movie figures and Jazwares figures? Why recently do figures have to limit articulation when back then they had more?
>>
>>11282775
Are the movie figures more expensive? They may have put more effort into them because they're riding off the movie popularity.

do you think the Sonic prime figures had a bigger budget or quality or something?
dont know why I feel they have more going on compared to the normal line
>>
>>11283109
More budget to work with, higher profit margins. Just like the movie figures. Since they're 5", they can charge more for them when the production cost as tooling is roughly the same as a 4" figure which they can't charge as much for. That's why there's a lot more completely new sculpts and tooling in all the 5" ($15) figures compared to the 4" ($10) ones
>>
Went to Wal Mart the other day and was shocked to see that they had no Sonic figures left after the holidays.
Before Christmas, I went in and they had that huge Sonic 3 display full of figures too, and that was all gone. Literally the only thing left was a Dr. Deep figure from Sonic Prime (lmao)
Oh, and the Tornado, which was on clearance, so hit up Wal Mart if you want that $13 cheaper.

Especially for $50 fucking dollars. So many other figures in the toy aisle include far more for a fraction of the cost. Movie figures are one inch shorter, the same amount of articulation, and only $15. The slight increase in size plus the bad looking base and wings that'll topple the figure over do not justify another $35.s

The real question is why did so many of the Sonic Prime figures feel like they were from entirely separate toylines?
>>
>>11286674
What would even be in it?

If I had to throw one together, I'd do super Shadow without the lights, the angry Tails from the 4 pack and a happier face for Sonic. I don't think anyone really wants more 5 inch human figures unless they make a decent Maria. The dream would be for them to just make Amy and Metal now, but that's not happening.
>>
>>11281193
Why is it Jakks stuffed stores full of movie mario figures so bad they had to be clearanced out but sonic can't get that much support even after two proven hit movies, like I saw Tails one week, he vanished, then never again and he's $40 everywhere
>>
>>11287104

>>11287256
Retailers order the quantity, not the toy manufacturer. Mario is the more recognizable character over Sonic in general, but the Sonic toys were objectively better so that likely explains the less shelf space retailers gave to Sonic movie stuff and why Sonic figs sold better. All stores I've seen have been wiped out completely. So I expect many toy aisles full of movie and non-movie Sonic figures for years to come which is good news.
>>
>>11287256
The movie figs have been restocked several time bro. And they sell out quick. Furfags keep scooping them up. I was lucky to grab Shadow w1 and Shadow with bike before the aisle shipper was ransacked before the movie even came out. Even the shitty Eggman figure is selling out.

All "big" characters made by Jakks are not taller than 115 mm. Same as this Werehog it seems. So he can perfectly fit single card.

Also his head is smaller than regular Sonic when it should be bigger. It's Neo Metal Sonic all over again. Head for one scale, body for another.
>>
>>11288285

Lol, we got this and metal virus sonic before any Archie characters.

Wish neca would get the license. They'd be all about some Archie characters. Though admittedly after Sally, bunny, robotnick, robotaized knuckles and sonic, the line would die hard.
>>
>>11287256
>Why is it Jakks stuffed stores full of movie mario figures so bad they had to

Walmart kept ordering assortment boxes everytime mario sold out, so they ha e giant piles of peach, catsuit mario, etc.

Walmart can't figure out toy ordering. They either buy an assortment with one figure people want and end up eventually with a pile of one figure or do something stupid like order a pallet of Ray and end up pushing it off onto Ollie's or big lots.

Theh must have fired half their toy team and rolled it into another team that doesn't care. Perhaps the people who do their kids clothes ordering.
>>
Don't know who needs to hear this but Macy's has the collectors Knuckles for 20, walmart.com has him for 25.

Walmart.com's jakks stuff is organized like shit BTW. They could have shit but who would know

No one talks about the sale so why would it sell out? People into the classic line don't haunt these pages, waiting for price drops.

People want them. They just don't want to pay $50

But that's everything. No one wants to pay $50 for most old characters

Ah, good old tripping balls sonic.

Shame walmart and taget will not buy a wave if it doesn't have mario or sonic in the box. Hell, they need half the fucking box to be one of the two.

Of course mario has the opposite problem recently. Each walmart has like a pallet of nonmario movie figs because kids were just getting the Mario's, even leaving Luigi to rot on the shelves.

It's a fragile piece of shit, like ALL of old Jazwares. It was the darkest age of Sonic collecting.
>>
>>11288743
C'mon anon don't be like that. The darkest age was 90's with classic mcdonalds toys or 00's with those ugly modern Adventures/Sonic X figures and bendables.
Jazwares was the golden age. Very fragile yes but still.
The current Jakks is still not kind of there with limited arms arcticulation, constant paint errors and abysmal quality. In the recent years they are impoved I give them that but it's still not enough.
>>
>>11288743
>Jazwares is the darkest age of Sonic collecting
I grew up in the early 2000s and you'd be extremely lucky to be able to go to any store and find Sonic stuff, let alone anything decent.

Want a Sonic plush? Good luck, you have to find it in a claw machine or some specialty shop. Want a Sonic figure? Only at Toys R Us, and it was ugly dogshit like pic related.
And this isn't even talking about the fact that the character selection was trash.
Jazwares sucked ass at quality control and I maintain that their figures were a nightmare to collect, but at least they actually made stuff fans wanted. I would've killed for a Metal Sonic figure as a kid, and had to wait until I was a teen before one ever got made. The fact that none of the old Sonic toylines ever had Super Sonic is astounding, it took until like 2010 for that to happen.
Like it or not though, Jakks is the best toy partner Sonic has ever had. Affordable figures that look good and have tons of variety, even if the articulation is lacking and they're clearly made for kids. The fact Jazwares' 3 inch figures were oftentimes more expensive than Jakks' figures over 15 years ago is ridiculous.
>>
>>11288743
Is it? Mine was pretty nice, I messed around with it a lot and it was one of my at the time favorite figures. I guess I just got lucky with it then

Jakks is so cheap. Making them pinless with an overmolded elbow disc would probably only cost them a couple pennies per figure. Its the exact same process and done in the same mold as the shoulders are (which ARE overmolded as usual). Lazy, cheap ass Jakks
>>
>>11288754
>Jazwares was the golden age. Very fragile yes but still.
Yeah, it was a "gold age" all right, as in "gold plastic syndrome" age We finally get scale-worthy and posable toys, but at the cost of outdated articulation and still fragile. At least with what Resaurus and McDonald's was giving, those were still at least toys of their time.
