Since last year, production has changed to a different company and they started making them a little like they used to. Tons of quality issues and inconsistencies but some familiar molds and they're cuter than generation 3-6 (although I think some g5/6 molds have a charm).

are you talking about the kenner ones? They're rather ugly, low sales compared to the rebrand of them by hasbro in early 2000's. The early 2000's and new 2023 reboot ones are good.
