What’s your guys thoughts on Toy story and online the line started in 2001 and ended in 2008. There were a lot of really cool and really strange things release during this line. Your thoughts?
>>
I meant to say Toy story and beyond not Toy story online

looks like a bunch of buzz-focused recolors, which ended proving how much better "space toys" were

I found this prototype Hasbro buzz

Now that I'm here, what is the best movie accurate woody and buzz? I remember back in the day some kids had a buzz with the extendable wings and a chrome buzz. Was super jelly and they always seemed so uninterested in having those toys. Also I remember them being pretty solid and heavy.

it was fun but there's next to no documentation of the weirder exclusive releases online, mostly just the mainline itself. does anyone else remember the lanard toys buzz lightyear line exclusive to the disney store? it's next to impossible to find pictures of those gift sets now. Just the vehicles seem to appear. pic related is the most I've found in recent months.

most toy companies that end up with the license never try pushing woody that hard in fairness. there's alot that they could do but usually they just settle for dressing up woody in a space suit, a race car driver get up, a frog man suit, etc. there's not much faith in an unapologetic cowboy western line nowadays.

these days most point to the medicom buzz as the GOAT. for a number of years before irs release however it was the toy story collection buzz which was regarded as the best. Outside of the 12 inch scale you're spoiled for choice however. There's the mattel spotlight collection buzz, the chogokin buzz, the revoltech one, and the list goes on.

Woody, atleast when it comes down to movie accuracy, is a tougher nut to crack. Medicom made one to pair with their Buzz, but it's less of a doll and more of a figure with a cloth overlay. Pretty much the end result of combining the revoltech with a standard doll Woody. Outside of the high end stuff there's the dozens of disney store exclusive woodys (which seem to get slightly tweaked heads every two years) and then the general release mattel stuff.

I'm biased because these are the toys I owned and loved, but i prefer them over what Mattel did/does. I'll never forget when my brother got a Woody and I, for whatever reason, thought to compare it to my woody. I hated the material and how cheap it looked.
>>

which woody did your brother get?

did anyone else love the miniature buzz lightyear sets? the sculpts on those buzzes are just the greatest. perfect bapance between SD and standard proportions.

here's your (you) athena.

borg lightyear was another favorite of mine

How the fuck does Disney Store stuff end up being so obscure? I would have loved this if I knew it existed. Fucking Buzz Lightyear tank.

I dont know but its fucking infuriating. try finding boxed examples of some of these sets, let alone complete collections of them in hand, it's impossible. the most you can find these days are the loose vehicles sans the majority of the accessories and buzz figures. Just so you have an idea of what the rest of the line contained, Lanard basically reissued all of their STAR Troopers and Corps vehicles in space ranger colors and tossed in one of two different GI Joe scaled Buzz Lightyears (some with 5poa, others with ARAH styled articulation)

sadly no he does not. despite all the optional heads, hands, and domes they didnt add in the GITD paint

after some additional digging I've recovered a few more sets from the disney store exclusive range. apparently they were all sold under the Toy Story and Beyond umbrella but were just referred to as "Buzz Action Squad Sets". With a name that generic its no surprise they turned out so difficult to track down. Only one of these sets is currently up for sale on ebay MISB, and its pic related.
>>
more examples of repainted lanard star force vehicles. the figures included in this set apparently glow in the dark.
>>
same case with this set. that might have been a good way around paint apps. what sense would it make to paint a buzz cast in GITD plastic?

this one was a personal favorite growing up. the simple rocket overlay gimmick kept me entertained for hours.

Is 30th anniversary gonna have anything? I want a 1:1 Woody with his iconic phrases and neutral toy face. No the medicom doesn't count.
>>
>>11299288
Does it coinside with the 5th film installment? The answer to that question pretty much dictates what you can expect to see. If it does, expect alot of obnoxious shelfwarming OC, if not, then expect a bunch of high effort collector geared collectibles.
>>
>>11299292
no that's a bit off.
The 30th anniversary is now because the movie came out in 1995.

Unfortunately Thinkaway is fucking dead and the rights for Toy Story stuff is Mattel and it's extra shit.
>>
>>11299299
Sounds really based though, toy story is extra shit

I wish third party Chinese did accurate Woody already even if they have to use AI to make cleaner voice lines.
