What's /toy/'s problem with aliexpress?
Their search is absolute dogshit and it feels like a chore to find things I actually want to buy.
>>11296555I was fine with them for years, but lately sellers, even ones with good ratings, are pulling a lot of sneaky shit. Listing items they don't actually have in stock, messaging you for more money after you pay, sending you empty packages or something worthless like a battery to make tracking look like they delivered something to you, etc.
i just placed my first order with them... u guys are making me nervous now
>>11296584Not trying to scare you. Chances are it'll be fine. Going forward, just check the seller's recent feedback first to make sure no one's complained about being scammed.
>>11296584I've bought tons of toys off Aliexpress and they're usually fine outside of the packaging/delivery being absolute dogshit and banging the box up to oblivion. If you actually want to collect things then don't get them off Aliexpress- but if you're buying on Aliexpress you're probably searching for a knockoff or something anyway. It's pretty rare to legitimately get scammed as long as you follow guidelines and use a bit of common sense. The most common thing you will run into is dickwad vendors who are constantly listing things they don't actually have (or they hate that you got so much of the price slashed with a coupon) so they ask you to cancel your order. Just cancel the order if they do this, it's not worth the hassle of trying something else. And if nothing else, always record yourself opening your package so you have evidence if you actually do get unlucky.
>>11296555i made my first purchase there a month ago and it turned out great. most people are just babies. there's some legit horror stories but you gotta have the common sense to separate those from the people being dramatic
>>11296555Not doing due diligence with sellers and listings fucks people over, but honestly it’s your fault if you buy a figma for £5 and think it’s gonna be real. It’s way more reliable than amazon because the sellers can’t hide bad reviews as far as I can tell.
>>11296555I'm always trying to buy their 1/10 pokemon figures but they're so pricey that I end up missing anything
Cheaper than BBTS
>>11296557This. Even with hyper specific wording there are times where a lot of unrelated shit can pop up while trying to find a decent seller. >>11296582A lot of these sellers will also try to dodge around the fact that their listings are pre-orders and not actual in-stock and ready to ship items too. >>11296613It all really comes down to the same way you'd try to see if a seller on eBay has decent enough feedback to be trustworthy before you click Buy Now. Generally it helps of you also know someone who has bought off Ali before so you can also grill them for info before going in.Personally I hate their site layout. The screen can get so clustered with listings at times and it can feel like all the bad elements of a mid 00s website with none of the nostalgic charm with how it functions.
>we think you might like: [some absolutely disgusting toe fungus shit or something]
>>11296557>>11296663I looked up 3rd party transformers and got a dog dildo in the middle of them once. It wasnt even beast wars
>>11296709>3rd partyBootlegs
My big issue with aliexpress is almost every fucking seller is a dropshipper who doesn’t have the items they are selling on hand. 9 times out of 10 I’ve tried to buy something from the lowest price available they message me back and say it’s not actually available or that they need to increase the price. It’s fucking infuriating and the only way to avoid it seems to be to pick the more expensive sellers or exclusively buy from the few top rated stores and just hope they have what you are looking for.
>>11296713*real unhasjewed transformers
>>11296793That has never ever happened to me not even once. But the correct thing to assume is we just buy different things so that is a common issue for the products you buy and not for mine.
>>11296555i don't have any problems with aliexpress as a platform, i've gotten many great deals and cheap fodder for figuresas long as you do some research and know what you're spending mommy's money on you should be fine.
>>11296555Their search system is actual unfiltered dogshit. I've never had an issue with any of my purchases though
>>11296555does /toy/ have a problem with aliexpress?I've bought quite a few items from there and the worst I've dealt with were figures that arrived damaged.
You shouldn't do business with a site that will straight up block you and delete their stores when you ask fora refund on faulty goods. Don't even get into what they're doing with your card info.
>>11296713Yes I go to Chinese websites to buy bootlegs. You gotcha'd me alright.
i order from there all the time. Baiwei Transformers and $3 Beyblades are great.>b-b-but leadStop being a pussy. You're not going to get lead poisoning unless you put them in your mouth and suck on them or something.
The biggest problem with their figures is that human faces basically always look horrible. But if you want something like pokemon, transformers, or masked superheroes they're great.
>>11296555After next week, Tariffs
>>11296582>>11296584It's kind of a tossup, you really have to make sure and check out the store reputation. And see if there are two versions of something listed on the page, like a cheap off model one and a perfect one you want. There is a good chance they will send you the shit one. But some sellers will post a completely different pic than what they will be sending to your house. Majority of the time they just send you whatever the hell they happen to have on hand, sometimes it can be wrong. Their knockoff video games stuff is a fucking minefield and you really have to do some research before buying a damn thing. Toys are usually pretty safe though. Transformers are one of the safest bet due to Chinese really not fucking around with their Transformers fascination. Lie if you want some near perfect 1:1 recreations of G1 stuff in perfect replicas of original boxes, they are the best.
>>11296557You just plain have to browse, and then scroll down when you find something that is like 80% what you were looking for.
>>11296709>got a dog dildo in the middle of them onceSearch history plays a part in the random items, pervert.
Any Mexibros there? do you knoe if still safe to buy in Ali? anyone find out why they ask for the RFC?
