Barbie Playmobils are coming in summer 2026. This is the second Mattel IP to become a Playmobil theme, following Monster High, which is releasing this fall. Masters of the Universe is also rumored for next year, and it seems Playmobil is gearing up for the DC license too (which Mattel will have next year for all toys, while LEGO still holds it for building block sets). With the new Mattel contract, Playmobil may be able to make DC-themed items as well. They're testing the waters with Kinder Surprise toys this fall.Thoughts? Personally, I think Mattel is interested in buying Playmobil and wants to see how these lines perform. Since Playmobil's parent company isn't doing so well, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about a sale soon.

Monster High
>>11532255>>11532258Looks nothing like barbie
Does anyone here even like playmobil? I understand lego or mcfarlane or hasbro but playmobil?
I'll be first to admit I don't know a thing about playmobil, but the IP must be pretty strong if Mattel agreed to pair Barbie of all things with it.I only owned one playmobil dude as a kid, a beduin warrior guy with a turban, scimitar, dagger and a long musket (jezzail?). He was kinda cool but with no other playmobil sets he was just alone
>>11532370I had a pirate
Are they still doing castle, pirates and western? Space wasn't their thing. Asking because lego aren't.

>>11532255>>11532258>>11532262>>11532267I hope they do motu too, would be neat

How yo buy lose pieces? Trying to get some chains and a big iron cuff that came with a dragon and elephant.
New oneI think dbz would sell better than naruto
I hope Mattel doesn't buy playmobil. It would be tragic for yet another iconic European toy company to fall victim to the American demons.
>>11533560What is the other one? Lego is not owned by amurica, the danish are too based
>>11533564Palitoy and Matchbox
>>11533854Damn, didn't know that, always thought matchbox was american
>>11533364Cute
>>11534016Nor did I until I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on toys from ye olden days.
It's pizza time
>>11532585I think you can only get western stuff from their website
>>11534171Lego did something similar
>>11534175
Playmobil should invest more in Novelmore, like a good tv show, it has potential. If they get more licenses they should do DC like >>11534176 and maybe Star Wars. I'd love if they tried more R rated IPs like Alien.
>>11532370The ancient Rome historical stuff is based
>>11532255I guess playmobil wants to enter the american market, I personally never understood the lego comparisons, they are nothing alike, is it because the figures kinda resemble minifigs? Because playmo figures were launched 4 years earlier than lego minifigs so you cannot say playmo copied lego..
I barely see playmobil in stores anymore
Ah, another playmobil thread, sadly on /toy/ it's probably only 3 playmobil autists, 4 with me...
>>11534175amazon too>>11534187we used to have a frequent thread
>>11533560Here in Germany newspaper wrote about the problems of Playmobil some months ago. They have financial issues. One reason why I currently buy much more Playmobil than Lego, because I want to support Playmobil (Even if the turnover they make with me does not matter much.)
>>11534191i hope they make it through
>>11532255If I were the CEO of Playmobil, I would create a Marvel Rivals-type game called Playmobil Rivals, and release collectible figures based on it. This way I create interest for zoomers and gen alpha. I’d also pursue licenses for franchises like Alien, Masters of the Universe, Barbie, DC, Asterix, Monster High, G.I. Joe, TMNT, and even expand original lines like Novelmore and Town. Maybe I’d even try to acquire the Star Wars license.I’d collaborate with Hollywood so that whenever a major movie is released, Playmobil could launch sets based on it—sets that would be more fun and better than anything other toy companies offer. For example, Playmobil’s Ghostbusters toys were better than Hasbro’s offerings for the last two movies. This way Playmobil can exist easily for another 20-30 years.
>>11534196Me too, me too. Imo, they should've jumped on licenses sooner, from what I know those sell very well
>>11532585Somewhat kinda yes and no.For the retailer catalogues, Castle was put aside for Novelmore (which may be ending now), Pirates has had some sets with mermen and octopusmen inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean, and there's been like, only one or two Western sets lately.Their web store has a bit more of classic themed stuff, with medieval houses and a few Western buildings, but not much. There's no generic castle available right now, for example.
>>11534206Novelmore is ending? Damn, I thought it sold well
>>11534212
>>11534213
>>11534216
>>11532255I think a big problem of playmobil is their size, they take away way more space than lego does
>>11534219They aren't that big
>>11534212Well, maybe not ending, but downsizing. I think the web series is dead, this year's new sets have not been impressive and it doesn't seem like they are introducing new kingdoms or expanding much on the existing ones. I guess next year's catalogue will show what they want to do with it.I suppose they'll keep doing it since their options are to keep going with it (likely for now), create another medieval fantasy brand (for what reason unless they have a great idea), or return to fully generic sets (unlikely because consumers don't like not-named stuff that much now).
>>11534226I hope they keep going with it, the desert and wizards waves were dope
>>11534176Source on that DC figure?? When did playmo start doing DC? O-o
>>11534231Kinder Surprise, releases in september, already out in Germany and Poland. Bigger ones are Kinder Maxi meanwhile smaller (like lego minifig size) are normal eggs.
>>11534225Oh really?
>>11534225some of their stuff goes well with the shorter end of 1:18 (3.75in.) Props can be used by even 4in figures.I recreated my office with playmobil.
>>11534307Neat
>>11534239Dang
>>11534198>I would create a Marvel Rivals-type game called Playmobil Rivals, and release collectible figures based on it. Interesting idea

>>11535279The blue lightning guy on the bottom right. He's supposed to be a knockoff of The Flash, but they can't pose him in a running animation due to lack of articulation, so instead it looks like he's taking a shit in the middle of the street.
>>11535274>>11535279>>11535282this is interesting and new ( i think)
>>11535436It is new! Releases in september

>>11541488>>11541450Yes?
>>11541450I'm still here. Thanks to this shill thread, I purchased my very first Playmobil figure, this shitskin cop. I found him at Walmart, not in the toy section, but rather in the snack isle.
>>11541766was there a whole Playmobil selection in the snack aisle? or was it just a random drop from a parent who probably said "NO!" to a kid and didn't feel like walking back to wherever it came from?I've only ever seen Playmobil at Walmart when people buy it online, and return it to the store, and it gets re-stocked somewhere since the package wasn't open
>>11534217this set is so good, one of my favorite things ever. I think future planet was my favorite overall line from them, the bases are some of the best toys of all time.
>>11541792They only had a box of figures, no playsets. They were at the front of the store, near the self-checkout isle, in a section that has baseball cards and other collectables and snacks.
