I’m honestly glad I waited and didn’t PO the Mafex.
I just don't think "more expensive" automatically means "better." Look at that thing. It's just plain ugly. What the hell is going on with that torso? Why doesn't he have a waist? Why does it make it look like he has little baby arms? Why the ugly gap at the shoulders?
I get that they were going for the Mike Zeck look, but the Punisher symbol just looks like a gormless mess and they over did the eyeliner.
I think Hasbro wins here, easily, with the caveat that yes, this figure has video game deco, but surely they'll issue it in the next year or so in proper black.
Everything's better. Symbol, head sculpt(s), proportions, costume. And it doesn't even have unsightly pins and pegs all over the joints.
I understand that people automatically want to equate a higher price with a higher quality product, but sometimes that just isn't the case.

Which figures have had that money case before?
>>
>>11559307
This is it boys, the turning point of ML Series. $28 is going to price out a lot collectors. These are mailine releases at your local grocery store, not some specialty figs. $28! For most collectors, thats like 3 hours of work. Demand is going to sink even deeper, even if the Hasbro team is now focusing on figs everyone had been asking for for years and largely ignored because of MCU. If you got Ollie and ROSS nearby, good for you, you might still be able to collect them. I predict Hasbro is going to really pull back on production starting next year, and start trimming all the adult collector brand teams. SW team will be the first to get hit. They haven't got their shit together in a long time and fans are not buying. ML are already missing in most stores now. In just a few months, stores are going to dedicate only 1 peg for ML, and fille the space with Mr Beast and Skibidi shit.

>>
>>11559732
it’s not that it’s expensive, well atleast in my view. it’s that it’s creeping up to import prices. how many times have u bought a definitive figure only for it to be replaced in a year & half? i’ve seen this happen with wolvie & spidey.

that’s not the worst part imo, atleast with imports u get new molds, premium articulation & paint. These hasbros are reusing 6 different bodies all various ages & sometimes they still don’t give u pinless joints. U are lucky if u get extra hands because we all know hasbro isn’t gonna give us accessories.

Tariffs aside, hasbro excelled at VALUE. For both collectors & kids. Now parents and collectors will buy way less & perhaps dish out to premium brands if it feels like their value will be taken further

So I'm making a custom kitbashing Hasbro base bodies but the last thing it needs is a cape. Kind of a weird ask but given the choice: would anons prefer cloth or platic capes on your ML figures? On one hand, a decent plastic cape grants a fixed silhouette that doesn't need adjusting, on the other hand a properly wired cloth cape grants more posing options/versatility.

Definitely a wired cloth cape. Being able to adjust the cape to match poses far outweighs any long term issues compared to a static plastic cape.
>>
>>11559918
Makes sense. I'll go looking for some good quality 3rd party cloth capes from the usual sellers. If it doesn't work out I still have a decent plastic cape on hand to fall back on.
>>
>>11559478
I dunno about that, aside from Surfer, are there any really big names in that wave that aren't a one off look? Beast and Widow aren't their classic looks, DD is only proto Daredevil, And Feral and Rachel aren't big enough names. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Surfer didn't sell out, but that could be just because most people already have the Walgreens one and don't view this as worth the upgrade.
>>
>>11559607
That's not me, it's just other people fed up with you people who think an old toy is worth more than msrp instead of less. Because it's OLD.

if the figure had a torso shaped like that you would be freaking out about how awful it looks.

I guess you didn't know this, but action figures have to have set proportions, while video game characters, especially very good hand drawn 2D sprites, can change proportions mid-animation. It's a basic principle of animation.

Collectors' brains truly have all been affected by all the price inflation and pressure from these toy companies to think that is worth anywhere near asking price.

You seriously think even a horrible, ugly figure with incorrect boot sculpts, niblets hanging off his abs, heavy ratcheted joints, cuts all over the place six ways to Sunday but no posability to show for it, pins, and an obvious diaper is worth $15? I expected better from Marvel gen. I feel like I'm on another planet here.

It's like 9 bucks max. Back in 2020-2021 figures like that were on Walmart and Target pegs for as low as 5-6 dollars. Does no one remember this? It was less than 5 years ago! WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED? Just because less of the figures are made now they're worth more even though they're just as bad?

Bandai has model kits that do this. It's neat, but also obviously ruins a sculpt to an extent. Depends whether you value a neat feature or a sculpt more. Also they've only done it for model kits, not actual figures.

when i was checking out DHL charged the 30 shipping but added duties & handling fee to bring it up to 80.

it’s not the de minimis exemption. which would have been the regular shipping cost, plus $80 to bring it close to 100 bucks

Excellent, now we are far closer to the assessments people should be making about these figures. These are the kind of assessments which benefit the consumer and lower prices for the average buyer.
>>
>>11562285
NTA but just because I don't care for the figure doesn't mean it's worthless to someone who does care for it. Stop being so narrow minded and selfish. The world doesn't revolve around you or me or anyone else. But getting butt mad because someone else likes something that you don't or sees value in something you don't is beyond gay, autistic, and gives off incel vibes. Get over yourself and realize that other people can want things you don't.

Sorry for the rant but I'm so sick of this immature behavior where people try to shame or shit on someone else just because they like an action figure you don't. It's the cringiest and most self centered garbage I've ever seen.
>>
>>11562289
NTA, but people should be shamed for buying garbage though. Like funkoshit or similar low effort soon to be landfill pollution. If I had my way, the absolute minimum quality standard for a figure would be AY, figma, or SHF tier.
>>
>>11562289
NTA but I'm sick of this type of toxic positivity in fandom. Let people shit on stuff if they want, stop crying.
>>
>>11562300
Shut the fuck up you goddamn idiot. You collect fucking little plastic effigies to funny book characters from the goddamn sixties. You have no place to judge what anyone else collects bro. You're as much of a whale as anyone else who collects anything. Get the fuck over yourself.

>>11562304
>Toxic positivity
What the fuck even is this? Seriously? I'm not telling you that you shouldn't not like a figure you don't like. I don't like ANY McFarlanes for my own reasons so I don't collect them. But you don't see me going around and shitting on other people who do happen to like them. Trying to shake someone just because they don't fall in line with your own line of thinking is the truly toxic behavior here. You're free to not like something and you're free to shit on it all you want. Just stop acting flabbergasted by the motion that someone has a differing opinion than you. It's painfully autistic and quite frankly this kind of culture is what has ruined this board.

I'm sorry that you're priced out of collecting toys, but stop taking it out on the rest of us. I'm sick of seeing a slight variation of the same complaints that people like toys you don't. It's behind tiresome.

Holy shit how broken are you? Views and likes? Take a fucking break from the goddamn Internet. For real. You're at an unhealthy point. I genuinely like Marvel, at least pre 2016 Marvel, and I genuinely like toys. I don't post pictures of my toys because I get some gay Internet clout that doesn't mean anything. Are Marvel Legends heads largely interchangeable?
>>
>>11563159
Yes and no. There's no standard neck peg or neck size so even though you can interchange most heads, often you'll end up with a figure whose neck is too short or too long, or the head socket might be too loose. Generally if two figures use the same type of body then there's a good chance the heads will be interchangeable but it's not always a sure thing.

You don’t need to be an insider to see the way things are going. Justified or not legends will definitely be over $30 by this time next year.
>>
>>11563686
I don't know who to believe. If they were to do that they will lose a huge amount of sales, more than I can imagine they can pick up by the extra 5 bucks or so or whatever.

But maybe this is part of their move to Boston.Maybe they intend to get out of the game soon. I recall people saying the average person actually working on the toys can't afford to live in Boston, only higher ups.

Only thing is, why did they renew the licenses then? It would've been a perfect time now that they knew about the tariffs to drop MLs/SW and pivot
>>
>>11563686
No one important cares if they raise it to $30. They just have to feel worth the price ie more accessories and modern articulation schemes with better body sculpts. That won’t happen though hastards love the slop that they are getting. We’ll NEVER get a big titty Widow.
>>
>>11563774
we all know they will remain exactly the same as what Hasbro puts out now. They are capable of no more. Ryan even let us inside the Hasbro farms a bit on a recent stream and said they have profit targets that figure waves (or individual figures in the case of 1 of releases) have to hit, and if it can't be projected to hit those targets, it's not getting made.

They do this with every wave. I think it's because the AI gets confused because of the initial rush to pre order them. Generally, if they don't sell out, the prices correct s bit after they release.
>>
>>11566014
nah, they've gotten bigger
the size creep is real
>>
>>11566114
I have a darker suspicion. I think it's not a mistake in the AI but instead an intentional 'feature' to generate FOMO. So basically it conditions people to preorder in the first few days by scaring anyone who comes later and sees that the price went up. (So next time those people will order as soon as they can). This makes it less likely for people to wait and try to play clearance chicken later because they can see they might end up paying more even from Amazon itself, not even third party sellers.
>>
Why do people dislike the ML Secret Wars Iron Man?
>>
>>11566121
Unless I'm mistaken, it's more so that most people have already gotten some version of that mold already.
>>
>>11566121
They don't? It's just they've released that Iron Man in different colors several times now so not too many people wanted it, as opposed to say Cap, who only had two figures on that mold previously. Meanwhile Iron Man had like three or four. I just snagged him for $15 from BBTS with Blob. I've been wanting him to go cheap since I want the roller skates for a custom. I'll find a place for the figure though.
>>
>>11566110

How much more dystopian will this hobby get? Variable prices tailored to how much each individual is predicted to be willing to pay over MSRP based on analytics data gathered about them? Requiring a subscription to preorder? Linking price to adblock usage?

>>
>>11566149
Anon, that Deadpool is a 12 dollar markup >>11566138

Max Deadpool is 50. They're charging 62.
>>
>>11566179
Ok, then get it at one of the other half dozen places that aren't charging $62. I was referring to the recent price increase. I don't count one off prices like this when there are plenty of other options available at the standard MSRP. It's a one-off, don't look too much into it. Amazon's algorithmic pricing is garbage and shouldn't be used as the reference to price.
>>
>>11566179
And 50 I'd argue is 20 more than it should be, or more. But you know everything is fine we weren't wrong etc etc. Shits dumb and just gonna get worse while being praised.

Just got a bunch of alerts from Amazon that my X-Men 97 wave and a few other items got pushed up to be delivered this weekend and next Monday. Anyone else? Shit kinda sucks, my wallet is gonna get pounded by this and I have had an expensive month for bills this month.
>>
>>11566389
Seeing this they could easily sell the Blackbird as a model kit, it's just a few panels and decals.
>>
>>11566594
Dumbed-down model kits is probably how they should be doing vehicles larger than, say, a truck.

Eh, I'll be fine, it's just kind of annoying since I didn't expect them for another month. I wish Hasbro could keep their pre-orders straight. Especially since Jubilee for whatever reason is the only one who is still coming out in October. Get your shit together Amazon/Hasbro

My Shuma got pushed up like a week early, but all my other pre-orders, the 97 wave and the Mandarin 2 pack, except for Jubilee, all got pushed up to this weekend. I even had my Black Series RotS Anakin get pushed up to this weekend, not Obi Wan though which is kinda weird.

this is just plain overindulgence and yet the worst part are retards going off about how hasbro doesn't do more but still want haslab size figures on retail at hasbro's loss. these retards don't even understand business.

Even if thise Ollie's shelfwarmers sold for 99 cents, it would still be profit. And those Spider-Man and Wolverine figures sell in such volume it pays for everything else in the line and makes them the most profit to boot.

The entire opening sequence explicitly cements the fact that they did not undo it and just moved on to outsourcing their nostalgiabait to the multiverse.

We've had a ton of Storm figures and two Mystiques, and neither are that enticing of an upgrade. Had either of them used a new body mold and head sculpt, I think we'd see a lot more demand.

Skipped this modern version and going to wait for the classic outback look. Hasbro has been setting up the sculpting for Psylock as well, and Colossus is just going to be the BAF AoA. Rogue also needs a classic headsculpt. I feel like Outback is going to end up as an Amazon 5 pack though.

>Return them and buy some dumbbells
I can't lift due to a pre-existing medical condition. I usually do go for longer several mile walks but it's been too hot over the summer, it's cooling down though so hopefully I can do that again soon. The toys have nothing to do with why I'm depressed, I'm just barely motivated to actually enjoy them or anything. Like I did absolutely nothing today, didn't even watch TV. Sorry for being such a Debbie downer. I did get Blob the other day for a reasonable price which was cool.

I was doing laps in my pool for a bit but my unmotivation got the best of me. Just feels, like 2025 keeps kicking me in the dick. First my dog passed away (she was 20 years old but even still I'm kinda fucked up from it), then I had to have surgery which I think permanently fucked up the sight even further in one of my eyes which has been frustrating, then I've just had family stuff and house stuff and I don't see my friends anymore I've seen them maybe once this entire year because they all have families and shit now so I can't resent them for it, but ugh it just sucks. Sorry for trauma dumping on a toy board like the raging faggot I am, it just feels like one thing after another, ya know?

To keep it toy related the tariffs and de minimis thing have also been bothering me, I can afford the price hikes and all, somit isn't a big deal, but it's just so frustrating to see what should be punishing these big corpos for shit, trickles down to the every day person. Once again, sorry for being s fag and dumping my sob story, I just don't really have anyone to talk to.
>>
>>11568123
NTA, but sad to hear that, anon, hope you are able to start recovering. It's especially bad when you're isolated. People tend to be able to take isolation when things are going well but when negative stuff hits, it hits harder. Toys aren't necessarily a great hobby for that either since a lot of the fun is talking with other collectors irl and getting inspirations from their poses and displays and such. Talking about pick ups and such on the internet can feel more like just blogging while it tends to work better irl.

>To keep it toy related the tariffs and de minimis thing have also been bothering me, I can afford the price hikes and all, somit isn't a big deal, but it's just so frustrating to see what should be punishing these big corpos for shit, trickles down to the every day person.

Unfortunately the tariffs were never about punishing corporations. If they wanted to do that they would cap US' companies' foreign jobs with workforce audits, not flat tariff imported goods. A large amount of corporations are global and shift every job they can overseas, not just manufacturing. Best practice would probably be a slowly declining foreign labor cap that changes yearly, forcing them to slowly shift jobs back to the US (has to be slow to train US workers). Sure they would try to get around it with more usage of foreign third parties, but some stuff just can't be passed outside your organization.

And even that affects toys because a lot of toy companies, while the factories are third parties, still employ directly non-US employees for stuff like IT or billing. It would increase the toy company costs and would likely lead to some MSRP increases, but it would be entirely indirect and only affect domestic toy companies (Hasbro, NECA, McFarlane, Mattel, etc). Importers wouldn't need to navigate a crazy, uncertain tariff situation to get their toys/other goods.

Thanks anon. I appreciate it.

In other news Mafex is reissuing Cyclops and Magneto. Grab the superior import Cyclops now so you don't have to wait for the SHFlet.

>>11568206
I definitely agree with Mafex Cyclops looking better. The SHF is way too overengineered, as a lot of their stuff is now. It makes the figure look far more unnatural.

>>
>>11568549
Decent figure, the head's a bit oversized but they got the proportions, likeness and size as a whole mostly right. Arm articulation is somewhat limited due to the chestpiece.
You have to look out for scratches on the silver, happens often, so best order from somewhere with a return policy. Def one of the better Hasbro ML out there.

Honestly, might me my ML of the year. He's fucking great. Nailed the proportions, paint is nice, articulation is great, and plenty of accessories. Highlight of the wave for me, and I thought that entire wave was pretty stellar.
