All I could find was damn funko shit. It's very unusual to be this close to a movie release without merch out. The movie may suck and flop, in which time Hasbro's best window to sell the figures is before the release (which they're wasting away).
>>
>>11572230
This is unusual for Hasbro who usually has stuff out a month or more before a movie release.
>>
>>11572230
What if Hasbro cancelled the toy line? Could Disney fuck them over for that?
>>
>>11572234
I do
>>
>>11572233
I am pretty sure that if Hasbro cancelled it then we would all know by now. Maybe Disney asked them to hold it back until after the release for the sake of "surprise characters."
>>
>>11572224
The NIN soundtrack is dope

>>11572236
They revealed the 80s grid in the tv spots so maybe that? Maybe MCP is the main villain.
>>
>>11572237
I think Crystal Method would have been a better fit for the soundtrack.

>They revealed the 80s grid in the tv spots so maybe that?
Or they're trying to nostalgia-trip people to get people to see it?

What I want: vintage-style figures that'll blend in seamlessly with the 1982 Tomy originals and early-00s NECA reissues

What I expect: more Funko pop-vinyl and black series/classified style figures.

>>

what is it about super 7 where the product is too smooth looking? they look like toys for a new-born
>>
>>11572833
It's like a semi-opaque plastic that gives them a "milky" look to them. I would have preferred the clear plastic, but they're workable enough.
>>
I saw Nine Inch Nails in LA, Trent did a few songs from the new Tron movie.
>>
>>11572555
Legacy came about when Star Wars Black Series was new and establishing the 6in scale. I'm glad (forgotten company) made those figures but failed to make the girl fig even though they had a prototype in the photos.

Hope they try again with the new movie coming out.

Nope. Nothing. The only thing new shown is a "collector's popcorn bucket," cup, and fucked if I know what the mini-arcade is.
>>
>>11574340
And it's stupid. Hasbro just threw away millions by waiting until after the movie came out. They now run the risk of having unsellable toys they'll take a loss on if the movie turns out to suck and flop.
>>
>>11574390
I mean, the toys they teased seem to be based only on Tron and Tron Legacy, nothing on Ares. They seemed totease remakes of the electronic spin master legacy figures.
>>
Well

Is the original Tron worth a watch?
>>
>>11574409
>>11574411
Not sure if I want that, especially if they're more milky-white figures with paint to try to make them look like the costumes without the effects lighting in the movies. I'd honestly prefer more clear plastic because it's a nicer aesthetic for Tron in toy form, but I know we won't get that.

Firat two Movie toys would be great of course, but what I want more than anything is TRON Uprising toys. God, I loved Tron himself's design in that show, it was perfect. Tesler and his goonsquad would be sweet as well.
Of course, I also wouldn't at all mind Tron 2.0 toys, but I'm not holding my breathe...

Best Tron media for me is Tron Uprising and Space Paranoids in Kingdom Hearts 2 (but that's really more just in a fanservicey way Uprising was the best.) Too bad diamond select sucked because they actually did Sora Donald and Goofy to go with their Tron toys.

They made Tron 2.0 toys back in the day but I dont know how good they were. I never played 2.0 either but these designs are sick.

Both sequels are slop. I realized "Legacy" was going to be slop the moment they announced the official title. Modern slopshit sequels all pull names from the same wordbank, and they're all interchangeable. Instead of "Tron: Legacy" it could've been "Tron: Reckoning" or "Tron: Absolution" or any of the other cookie-cutter buzzwords they use for sequels now. "Ares" is no exception. And, oh look, the antagonist looks like the token contemporary evil Russian dude.
Christ, modern slop sequels are all just generic movies with different skins thrown on them at this point.
But the biggest farce?

TRON is also a debugging command in the BASIC programming language, meaning "TRace ON". However, Steven Lisberger has stated in interviews that he took the name from the word "electronic", and did not know about the BASIC command until later.

So you can do TRON without the titular character.
>>
>>11575112
>Bruce Boxleitner is not in Tron: Ares

To be fair, poor Tron always kind of gets shafted in the movies. He was Flynn's sidekick in the original and a mind controlled henchman in the second. Still a bullshit move though.

The tron franchise must be sacrificed to deal devastating blows to both disney & Jared Leto
>>
At least Tron stuff looks shiny as opposed to Nu-Wars.
>>
>>11575155
Why hate Jared Leto? He is based
>>
>>11575112
Giving her the name "Athena" an ancient Greek name is insulting to me, but this is the same Disney that took a shit on the Greeks in the past by depicting Calypso as a Jamaican voodoo bitch. And the lack of Tron himself is very annoying.

>>11575155
I like Jared Leto, and think he's a good actor. He's the one part of this movie besides Flynn that I'm not worried about.
>>
>>11575155
Jared Leto was one of the reasons this got off the ground. Be thankful you get to see another Tron iteration on the big screen.

The plot may be dumb but it's got Tron back in the public eye which means more toys in the future for us ! ! !
>>
>>11575212
The key thing is it really needs to be a success. The first Tron movie was somehow a flop, which is why it took Disney ages to approve a second one. The second one wasn't a flop, but at least an "under-performer." At this point it's a miracle that they bothered to approve a third one.

And if it's DEI woke (which early trailers show it might be with shit like Athena), then it'll be hard for it to be successful.
>>
NOT having any toys for it by now is not a good sign, and tells me that toy-makers have zero faith in the movie being a success so they don't want to risk it.
>>
>>11574411
Lmao, they dumped Power Rangers and they think Tron is popular enough for a toyline? The like 9 fans of this franchise must be thrilled.
>>
>>11575221
Tron is popular enough for a toy line if it's done right. However that's seldom the case.

I 100% guarantee that through the black girl there's going to be a lot of symbolism of the Tron characters being slaves to the humans in the real world, and of course "WHITEMANBAD!"

Personally I think that toy-makers are deliberately avoiding this movie.

Good. I want this shit to flop from all angles. Bruce knows we want more Tron, but that's just it; this isn't Tron, this is Nu-Tron, and as a fan of the original, I don't want this, and I certainly don't want more of it.
Worst case scenario is the movie is a huge hit and suddenly there's the Amazon or Netflix series. Shit like that. I'd rather not get anything more, ever again, than to see a franchise I love get continuously dragged through the mud.
And this is what gets me about Bruce: the last Babylon 5 panel I watched a video of him doing, he was low key ranting about how all TV & movies these days have to be "relevant" (woke), and yet here he is, telling everyone to go support this shit.

can't wait for the next movie after this one where the black character meets up with the other black programs and they use the digitizer to bring a bunch or bison or something into the game grid so they can ride them as they charge the command ship- oh wait.
>>
>>11575387
Can't wait for Tron to show up, take a big sigh, and say "somehow.......Sark has returned."
>>
>>11575389
Actually the only thing that would get me to endure this woke pile of burning dogshit would be if they paid to use David Warner's voice and face so they could digitally put Sark into the very end of the movie, like he had been hiding in some protected memory somewhere, and he kills all the new antagonists and then returns to the digital world to reestablish his control.
But we can't have nice things.
>>
>>11575461
They already own his likeness rights, so it wouldn't take much for them to revoice him on a deepfake actor.
>>
With how badly disney's fumbled this, and all their other franchises, people should just start ripping them off and making spiritual successors.
>>
>>11575486
When AI becomes powerful enough for people at home to make their own full-length movies (we're actually close), I suspect that Tron will get a fuckload of fanfic movies.

>people actually believing this
This is stupid and fake for a multitude of reasons, namely you forgetting or not knowing from the trailers/teasers that the time limit for Ares to exist in reality is 30 minutes, but also:

1. Quorra is an Iso, not a program
2. They left the Grid using Flynn's disk which he said in the movie is possible for a program to leave without (hence Clu using it in the ship)
3. The mere idea of Quorra not only being impregnated by Sam but giving birth to a son in thirty fucking minutes after they take a motorcycle joyride through a whole city and forest and after Sam backs up 1987 technology onto a microSD card and then naming their son Tron who Sam barely has any familiarity with other than fighting Rinzler and being shown an action figure of him one time is hilariously stupid. That's like if he named his son RAM or had a daughter named Yori.
4. also more importantly Garret Heidelhund and Olivia Wild aren't even cast for the movie and repeatedly deny it in any interview they're in. Ditto for Bruce Boxleitner whatever that's worth.
5. The Disney Magic Kingdom rides for Tron Lightcycle Run have a story which states that Sam and Quorra together are making portals for users to enter into the Grid with to learn to cooperate and live amongst programs. Dubiously canon but worth mentioning as the only official statement regarding what they're up to after Legacy
>>
>>11581217
I don't understand how they figured Nine Inch Nails was a fit, and I like them. Industrial and electronic are so far apart In aesthetics and sound.

The Asian is the female of the film. The black is an antagonist.

>The black is an antagonist.
I doubt that's true when considering every movie has to carry the "team diversity versus evil White people" story. It's pretty much a requirement in Hollywood. She may be "villain red" but she's not really a villain. And why are they trying to make Flynn look like techno-Gandalf?

At any rate we've only seen one figure, and it's not Hasbro even though Hasbro said it has the toy license. The mvoies starts on the 10th which is in the middle of NYCC. If there's any other figures that'll get released, then I guess that's when we'll find out.

You lot don't remember that legacy was a flopped toyline almost in the level of Green Lantern, do you?

Tomy made the classic 5POAs and NECA reissued them. And they're actually worth a lot now.

The secondhand market asking prices for the neca reissues are fucking stupid.

I was able to get the figures for like $20 each by just bidding on them. I think collector stores sell them for about that much too so I don't know where the fuck flipbayers are getting these prices.

>Movie is 1 week away from release
> Hasbro still hasn't revealed their toys or put a single toy out on shelves.

Blokees should have been given the license.

I remember when I was excited Hasbro got Power Rangers. That didnt turn out so good so despite loving Tron I'm not looking forward to this at all.

Why are you implying techies Gandalf wouldnt be the coolest fucking shit
>>
>movie out THIS Friday
>still no toyline reveal
Wtf

Three days, and nothing. The avoidance tells me the movie will suck, and that breaks my heart as a fan of the series.
>>
>>11586938
it's modern disney, of course it's gonna suck
>>
>>11586938
Well, reactions are better than tron legacy right now, we wait for reviews which should drop in like 6-7 hours
>>
>>11586986
I had the revisionist bullshit going on where everyone is suddenly saying legacy sucked. Legacy was the fucking tits. The Tron series is a spectacle series with a paper thin story. That’s it. All these reviews a high off of their own pretentious farts.
>>
>>11587025
I agree that Legacy was good BUT that's the minority view. Legacy wasn't a flop, but at least was an "under-performer" where it wasn't exactly a big sucess. And most people just didn't like it.

I skipped Legacy when it was released, but then I finally watched it almost a decade after it came out and thought it was great. Not perfect, but not even close to being as bad as most of the legacy sequels of the 2010s like Alien Covenant, The Predator, and Disney Wars. The soundtrack alone made it worth the watch.

>63% rt score
Huh

At least Flynn in Legacy had the same kind of character arc that Luke did in The Last Jedi, but BETTER.

I want to live in the universe where Speed Racer 2008 and Tron Legacy were the biggest movies of the 21st century. It'd sure beat diminishing capeshit returns we saw in the mid 2010's into the modern day.

Ares was always going to be a fart in the wind by virtue of cutting ties from Legacy and morbin' things up with a shittier lamer cast and plot.
>>
>>11587025
Legacy did suck though. Everyone hated it when it came out and it deviated from the style of the original way too much. It's revisionist history that people liked it. I remember everyone including myself shitting on it. Everyone was mad that it wasn't like Tron 2.0.

I’d hold your hand anon
