>>11588000The fact that they decided to keep the usual animation error of mistaking his forehead for a visor is both fucking stupid and hilarious. I like it.
>>11588000Nice get.Anyway, I'm really warming up to Chase. The transformation is a touch fiddly but I like him a lot overall, will make a nice addition to my police Autobots (unless I make him into Barricade, which I might).Reminds me, I still need a CHUG G1 Prowl. Did the Siege reissue already come out?
>>11587726>any figures I missed the first time are expensive as all fuck now.>any figures I scrambled to get are all on sale now.My life is pain.
What's the verdict on the new Alpha Trion
>>11588003>CHUG G1 Prowl. Did the Siege reissue already come out?My local collector shop got it in. Thats the only place Ive seen it so far
>>11588000When does he go up
>>11588009Same. Happens all the fuckin time. For me, most recently was Bonecrusher and Retro Gears. This past spring I went on a mad dash for them and spent two weeks hunting every day only for them to both end up shelfwarming. Well, Bonecrusher was never a shelfwarmer, but very readily available. Poor Gears ended up on clearance. I think that was back in late March and I havent hunted for another figure since. Actually I did go hunting for Earthspark Soundwave but I found him on my first stop on my first hunt lol
It took five years to finish the Headmaster Small/Junior DecepticonsUsing the tooling of molds from 2016, nine years ago...On one hand I'm happy they at least finish what they started, but on the other hand, what a Pyrrhic victory to completionests this all was.
Is Swerve in the leaks? I keep seeing people remark that the Minibots will be complete next year after Powerglide but we are still missing Swerve
I'm starting to grow an "ow the edge" team too
>>11588023Needs moar Murderbee.
>>11588021I had to look up Phyrric Victory lol. Thanks anon you taught me something new for the day. I couldnt agree more. They are a particularly egregious example of the way they space out all teams and it is very annoying to me too. I really think it would be better for them to start busting shit out in closer succession. Even Bruticus is nuts. Releasing Vortex before Onslaught even has a prototype.
>>11588023Fucking hell that Red Alert recolor wears the mold so much better.
>$30 for a shitty gimmick fig with zero articulationkek
>>11588020>Spend twice as much for a figure on Ebay because he's nowhere for months. >Week later, online shops all suddenly get him in stock.Devcon and Steeljaw are the most recent offenders
>>11588021Skipped all the 4 packs. I'm hoping TT makes a DCS or whatever box set for it.
>>11588021>>11588025Hasbro butters its plain bread with delicious pain.
>>11587986 Hasbro owns the name so it’s usable.
>>11588022Yes he is. He comes before Powerglide but I believe Tailgate is the last one. He comes either at the same time as Powerglide or right after him.
>>11588043I worry if they will change anything or if it will be like the Monsterbots two pack and it's just the same figures 1 for 1 but with a good mark up anyway. Alternatively the DCS figures are a good 5 years out of the first releases so at the earliest we see them would be 2030 and by that point we might be seeing updated toolings anyway.
>>11588054I was just trying to clarify if anon's OC idea was inspired by the nerf gun
>>11588058Yes
>>11588073I like that idea as a cross over. That the Nerf gun turns into the green Rhino
Got Devastation Sideswipe from Target with their discount today. He's the same mold as Siege so I don't know what I was expecting, but eh, nice to have and earth mode version of him since I skipped Earthrise or whenever his last release was. I saw people talking about headswaps, since the new one is inaccurate, how easy is it to pop the heads off Siege and Devastation Sideswipes?
>>11588002What do you mean?
>Sorry, Rumble, but I hear you're worth a lot these days.
>>11588138> how easy is it to pop the heads off Siege and Devastation Sideswipes?you need to remove the two pins going through the sides of the torso to get to the head
>>11588000Galaxy Shuttle recolor when
astro train galaxy shuttle looks like shit in shuttle mode so I dont want that
>>11588185>Galaxy Shuttle recolor whenI'm tired of Galaxy Shuttle recolors. I want him to get a mold all to himself. Unfortunately, I feel like it would have to be a HasLab, and there's no way in fucking hell I'm giving my money to a fucking HasLab at this point.
>>11588191Maybe you'll get a shot with a Gen Selects repaint of Armada Jetfire In about 8 years

>>11588158He's seen some shit. Maybe Lovecraft was right, and there are unspeakable things lurking in the dark gulfs of space.
So Mixmaster and Scavenger arrived today, finally I've got all the Constructicons.I'm a bit confused though. Everybody was hyping up Mixmaster as one of the best of the set, and I just don't see why. He's far from terrible (that'd be Bonecrusher and Scavenger) but he doesn't do much to really impress me, he just does his job. I think Scrapper's better than him.
Am I the only one who faces getting in trouble for buying Transformers? Every time I have a figure in the mail I feel like this might be it. This might be the time she kills me.
>>11588247All of them are mid as fuck. Its like trying to pick who is the prettiest at the ugly show
>>11588256I'd call Scavenger the worst. So many mismatched shades of green and a poorly-engineered transformation procedure.
>>11588255none of us have a she, anon.why do you have to be so mean?
>>11588247I don't think anyone was hyping him up because he was the best, but just because he was the last. By then, people had all the other guys. Even Scavenger was out before Mixmaster.
>>11588259I'd rate Bonecrusher lower. His proportions in robot mode are so gimpy.
>>11588255Imagine having a significant other.
>>11588042don't forget road pig. Just recently Walmart threw him on sale for $15 when he's been ~$40 on sites like Amazon and bbts for a while.
>>11588267Yeah the arm bots and neck and neck for worst of the set, but Scavenger irritates me just a bit little bit more. Bonecrusher definitely has issues though.
>>11588275Mixmaster and Scrapper are annoying just because they shouldn't be Voyager priced. there's nothing that indicates they have more engineering. They don't even have waist swivels.
>>11588260>>11588270Welp at least you guys can buy Transformers without soul crushing guilt trips and threats
>>11588291One ratchet joint costs $10 sorry I don't make the rules

>>11588270i'd rather be alone than pick one who doesn't like my hobbiesor god, even worse, what if I don't like hers. I could not marry a woman with a funko pop addiction.
>>11588247>He's far from terrible (that'd be Bonecrusherbonecrusher is the BEST
>>11588247I saw a lone Mixmaster at Target today when I went to see their toy reset. I already completed my Devastator though.
>>11588292If she doesn't love all your transformers too and think they're the greatest thing ever, divorce her.
Does this general care for skybound spoilers or are people still in that "Skybound sucks" era here
>>11588316Usually we don't care, it's always just more grimdark suffering and grimy art.
>>11588316I'm sure that one anon can whip up responses like people care
>>11588311>If she doesn't love all your transformers too and think they're the greatest thing ever, divorce her.If you complain about your wife on TFW you get dozens of people giving this advice unironically lol
>>11588247Opened my Mixmaster just last night, and I'd say he's easily my favorite of the Constructicons so far (still haven't gotten Scavenger though), but not to a point that he'd necessarily be worth hyping up over it. Also, part of my enthusiasm for him might simply be that I find this new mold so much better than the CW version of Mixmaster, so that might make me a bit biased.
>>11588311>>11588329actually if she's stayed this long, you should probably hang on to her like grim death
>>11588297Someone once told me if you need a wife with the same hobbies you might just be wanting a boyfriend
>>11588333Checked and yep Im not letting her go anywhere. Shes the only one who has ever tolerated me for longer than a year.
>>11588334how cute would he be?
>>11588334and that's the reason I don't rag on my 'bisexual' friends, especially the ones that admit they would rather be with women if they could just find a sane one.you don't have to have the SAME hobbies, but the same category of hobbies. I remember this one webcomic guy who was super into godzilla, had a million vinyls and shit.. his wife was way into hello kitty. their wedding cake topper was a lil godzilla with kitty couple. >>11588470No, we're definitely one person, don't lie to our schizo, anon, it would be like kicking a pus-ridden dog
>>11588247The biggest gripe I have with the set is that they are overly simplified and have ugly engineering. Bonecrusher is probably the wonkiest, with his refusal to stay oriented properly in arm mode and that they somehow gave him even more dumpy proportions than the cw version. Everything else I can begrudgingly say is fine, although I do worry that if I leave Scavenger un-combined he might float away with how light he is.
>>11588242He saw idw make him gay.
>>11588488The real biggest gripe is that it once again is Hasbro showing the words "Studio Series" is meaningless since they're just downscaled versions Combiner Wars toys (and Long Haul).
>>11588497as predicted when they started the 86 line Studio Series just became a back fill for whatever they can't fit into the other line(s).
>>11588501And yet you'll have tards in these threads go "no it's SUPER ACCURATE TO THE CARTOON ARRRGH I HATE IT"
Seaspray came while mommy gf was taking a nap! The toy gods smile upon me today. Lets see if the qc gods show me such favor
>>11588504I feel like that logic had to die when they did the core sized Ironhide, Ratchet, etc. Those were clearly hold overs from Kingdom core class figures
>the good -Aesthetically very sharp. Extremely G1 accurate and very slick lookikg-Hes the tallest and heaviest of all the Deluxe Minibots. Very substantial feeling. (Hes damn near too big. I figure this was so he could his boat mode could be a nicer scale with his teammates. As is, he comes off as tanky) >the bad -This figure has a design flaw with his waist. Its off center due to using a sideways mushroom peg like 86 Bee. This causes his waist and hip to collide very badly. -He has a part on the back of one of his feet that falls off if you look at it wrong -Ankle tilt range is very poor>Head articulation is very poor. The balljoint is far more restricted than it needed to be >the ugly -His arms are a bit too long. His proportions could be a bit more heroic if they were just a bit shorter -His fists are slightly offset to the outside of his forearms. It really bugs me they arent centered.
might be a first for this thread- a cyberworld figure reviewArmored Cyber Changers Optimus Primeessentially a core class beast hunters Optimus Prime. This guy is.. fairly decent. No elbows sucks but the shoulder articulation is pretty good for having giant micromaster shoulder pylons on ball joints. Legs are also surprisingly decent. The big draw is the gun backpack and one step transformation.. and these are neat. Gun backpack reminds me of M.A.S.K. and it's also a jetwing prime type thing in robot mode. The one step transformation was very damn tight out of the box but once I loosened it up it works pretty well. Fun, but not worth 15 dollars. Grab a core class DOTM bumblebee and paint it black and you've got the start to a beast hunters core collection.
Just saw these on FacebookHaven't seen such up close pictures yetI "like" it, but something seems off
>>11588589
>>11588589The only thing off is the $43 price tag.

>>11588000Are there any plans for Hasbro to make more Beast Machines toys? I'd love a BM Primal.
>>11588589>something seems offThey flew too close to the Sunbow. The face, shoulders, fists, thighs and knees look like theyre made of bubblegum
>>11588621No they don't.
>>11588616No.
>>11588589The gray parts also look like theyre made of clay. They de-greebled it to zero. The shoulders, thighs, and feet have literally zero greebling. I think thats some of the reasons this looks strange.
>>11588609ah Takara.. Tomy used to do this with Zoids allll the time, I guess they were destined to merge.
>>11588588desperately needs metallic paint. That bland grey looks so fucking bad. Also this unpainted bit is ugly.
>>11588629Not everything needs to be metallic. They're cartoon characters, let them look like their cartoon selves.
>>11588589Yikes
>>11588631They're metallic in the cartoon too, dumbassio.
>>11588629The hinge looks awful too.
>>11588624That is a pity. Are there plans for more Armada toys at least?
>>11588636Yes, Jetfire is next year.
>>11588589>>11588591Im calling it right now, his chest/shoulder/back/wing assembly isnt going to stay tabbed together properly. I can already see it from here
>>11588589How does it scale with 86 megatron? Did the seekers get a height boost like soundwave or is it the same as the ER?
>>11588633No they aren't you retard. He's flat grey in the cartoon. I bet you think Thundercracker, Megatron, Optimus and Grimlock all have silver in the cartoon too despite all 4 of them being colored different just because the toys were chromed or had silver paint.
>>11588616how the hell would they pull that off? their transformations were magical.
>>11588632i'll take honeycombing over a blank hollow anyday
>>11588651>what is animation shorthand
>>11588651Silver paint objectively looks better though. This is why I hate tooners.
>>11588616They said yes but not at the moment. They did point out how people wanted updated vehicons in particular.
>>11588666>Silver paint objectively looks better though.- Quote from man desperate to sell his solid silver Heroes of Cybertron figures that nobody wants
>>11588651>hurrr optimus's grill is totally supposed to be a flat white color guys because my retarded brain takes colors in a retarded cheap 80s cartoon literally
>>11588651Do you draw, friendo? And if so, do you use traditional paper and pencil rather than on a computer, the way these guys did for the cartoon? Let me tell you from experience: it is fucking HARD to depict chrome by hand, and even harder to try to animate something that reflective, even for short frames. Those flat greys, like a lot of other things seen in the cartoon and movie, are a shortcut to save on time, budget and stress on the animators. Given this was all basically a glorified toy commercial, kids at home would have known those were supposed to be metallic because they'd be familiar with how the toys already looked.
>>11588616Is this a good toy if I'm apathetic to Beast Machines Cheetor
>>11588655>a blank hollowI think that is exactly what the photo is pointing out. He has no ribcage
It's so weird that this sort of bitching only ever happens for G1 and not any of the other cartoons ever made.
>>11588682depends on if you like how it looks, the engineering is fairly generic beast mode fare aside from the interesting legs, so it's not like you'll be getting a masterpiece transformationdual swords are always neat though
>>11588527If the minibots are all scaled up, are they really minibots anymore? Did the show ever refer to them as minibots?
>>11588692they were only ever mini vehicles in the packaging, aside from wheelie and bumblebee their size wasn't really used often in the cartoon they did show up in groups occasionally though, like in golden lagoon or five faces of darkness
>>11588686ohhhhhh I see what you mean now. yeah that is fucking awful
>>11588688Are you a 90s kid like me? because I think there's something we just barely missed about the 80sfor 80s kids, this was IT. there was no other quality entertainment, all older animation was just cheap hanna-barbera crud. Shows like Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, they touched these people as deeply as anime did for us as 00s teenagers.
>>11588690>if you like how it looksI do not>dual swords are always neat thoughThey are
>>11588702That's not answering the question about why whenever the G1 cartoon did something people immediately chimp out that it was wrong to do so.
>>11588713because the more IMPORTANCE you give something, the more eager you are to nitpick the issues with it. Like, if you think there's a problem with corruption in the US government, and you're a flag-wavin' red-blooded fella, you're gonna think that is a MAJOR problem that has to be dealt with severely. Whereas if you hear there's corruption in ... Djibouti or something, you just shrug 'figures.'These shows sit in reverence. Every little error they make is like someone mistranslating a fucking bible verse. you feel like this "really happened" and that it's somehow important to get to the heart of it.
>>11588348femboytron
>>11588692Most of the updated minibots released are still smaller than deluxe carbots. The only ones that are roughly the same height as them are seaspray and warpath.
When does blast off go up for preorder?
>>11588674Hasbro used to have a really nice silver paint for stuff
So while out shopping earlier, local Wal-Mart started stocking leader class again and happened to have both Megatronus and SS86 Megatron, opted for Megatronus but are his joints are super loose.
>>11588748He, Windcharger, Quintus, Sureshot, Quickstrike, and Jalopy are all already up for PO...on HLJ. The question is, are you willing to deal with the tariff prices when they finally ship, or are you willing to wait for them to show up on Pulse and MAYBE get a preorder in before they inevitably sell out?
>>11588781Willing to wait as I had to pay 75 bucks for hlj to ship a miku prize fig Gundam
>>11588627>>11588621the edges are so rounded out, it looks real cheap. I'm getting real sick of slavish toon accuracy

>>11588589Looks much better than the ER seeker mold design wise but that plastic...yuck. Im not sure if it's from the lack of detail/greebling or if it's just how it is regardless but it almost looks like some kind of cheap R.E.D or authentics figure like the plastic used for 86 soundwave. So close to a perfect chug seeker yet they still somehow dropped the ball. Hopefully skywarp and starscream looks better.
>>11588800those are really soft angles, yeah
>>11588589Has a non-neutral facial expression. Enjoy the 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 figures that actually has some character to it.
>>11588817Theres a reason none of them have facial expressions. Because they look dumb as fuck. I was actually very disappointed to see he has an expression. Now if we could actually have multiple faces / heads it would be a totally different story
Im impressed with Seaspray’s alt mode. He mass shifts from big to even bigger
He feels really big for a deluxe. Every once in a while Hasbro throws us a bone and its always in the form of a minibot
This figure rocks. I modded his head so he can look down and now I love it.
>>11588842that really does add a lot
>>11588849Im telin ya! Its only 1mm and it makes all the difference in so many poses. Otherwise theyre always stuck “looking onward” I call it in my head. Cosmos got it right, a rare figure that has a cavity specifically so his head has clearance to move around. Seaspray and Cosmos’ design language are actually incredibly similar. In fact to the point that Seaspray actually seems like he may be an extremely extensive retool of Cosmos. Their transformations are very similar
>>11588589>>11588591It’s one of the nicest looking SS molds honestly, but it really sucks that you have to partsform the tail fins to the back of the wings. I’m sure they could have made it work without inflating the budget.
>>11588855it's funny, the whole mecha genre has always been designed around things being towering and impressive, yet the vast majority don't have any downward head movement built in.. maybe because they're very much like knight armor, which definitely couldn't look down since that would require a neck armor gap.. real obvious weak spot there..
>>11588867It'd probably help if a majority of TF designs... actually had necks of some sort
>>11588875that's kinda what i meant, yeah

Do you think the big fucking metal robot is only shiny paint if it's grey? You stupid cunts can't even realize the whole figure should all be metallic paint.
So got some more Blockees today and one of them is a Purple Optimus Prime. What the fuck is his deal? Black Prime I know is Scourge/Nemesis Prime and White Prime is Magnus. What the fuck is Purple Prime's deal for someone who didn't read the IDW comics (as he's listed as IDW version)?
>>11588916Blockees fucked up and mislabeled their Purple Optimus Prime as being IDW Optimus instead of Shattered Glass Optimus Prime. That said, the purple color has been used for two different Optimuses. One is Shattered Glass (IE evil mirror universe Optimus) and the second was for a Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover figure where they painted Optimus purple like Shinji's robot.
I want a new Sideways. Hasbro or blokees, I don't care. I just want him to have better robot proportions and the heads.
>>11588926Same, but his old rider figure is still decent and comparable to recent core class for what it's worth.
>>11588926With any luck we'll get images leaked soon enough. I really want to see how they do with him this time around.>>11588931I just wish they locked together better. That's my biggest hope for an improvement, that the minicon rider doesn't get Darth Maul'd if you look at him funny.
>>11588798It means kek what a bozo
>>11588589>>11588591The engineering and proportions are OK but man, the utter lack of any surface detail makes him look really bad. The other SS86 figures had a decent level of greeble, he's gonna stick out like a sore thumb.
>>11589018>the utter lack of any surface detail makes him look really badHe looks like a fucking RED figure, same with 86 Soundwave.
>>11588926>>11588931>>11589012I'm ready for the new figure to be a Prowl remold, but I'll still be pissed when it is.

>>11588629Why is hasbro obsessed with giving the seekers facial expressions? They never look good, and always look like shit.Regardless, this is not worth $45 or whatever. What a fucking joke.
>>11588912>duckingYou must be 18 or older to post on 4chan, you fucking child.
>>11588247>Everybody was hyping up Mixmaster as one of the best of the set,1. He is more accurate than the CW release2. People were worried he was going to be short packed when amazon sold out and bbts raised their price on him. Walmart is starting to get 2 or 3 each, so that worry has settled down. Hook, etc, will probably be the real 2 to be short packed. He's pretty good. They all are none of them should have been 35 however. And bonecrusher's dozer form is nonsense. Like some 20 year old designing an old 80s dozen from someone else describing it. Or some kind of fantasy cybertron dozen. Shame they got mix master right and stepped back on bonecrusher
I just feel like the prices keep going up but there’s not even an equivalent or even maintained degree of quality. I feel like I have everything I want and I have little reason to keep coming back to the line. If they should release a pair of pants for Armada Optimus or maybe an Animated Megatron or Lugnut in the future I might be interested, but for now I can’t justify the pricing of the modern TF line. It’s unfortunate and I understand that there are many people who are probably still invested in the line, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.
>>11589098> I feel like I have everything I wantThat is the thingA lot of character shouldn't have been done in the previous years so people can get more excited with the 86 versionOr not in the form that is supposed to represent the cartoon version like how Earthrise seekers release pretty much pull the rug under the 86 version I really feel that they should push hard continue into the Japanese continuity and other later releases instead of free flapping between studio series in the classic line
Just got my Target 4 pack. Why do they still put the instruction for all the figures on one sheet?I want to check something, oh let me flip out my fucking roadmap....
Is this worth $50?
>>11588589Well I'm glad I skipped all the Seige/Earthrise seekers now, but fuck me are these really gonna be leader class? Hasbro expects me to shell out $55 per seeker and sell them to me 3 times? Not counting the inevitable coneheads? And rainmakers? This hobby is getting too exploitative for my tastes, fuck me.
Brawl is looking good, very nice head sculpt
>>11589186They're voyagers, anon
>>11589022At this point I'll even take a Groove repaint, and I skipped him years ago because I didn't like the mold.

>>11589559? It's AOE Grimlock
>>11589557"This summer" as in 2026? Vortex was this last summer of 2025. It'll be over a year before this is all finished, it's more stretched out than even Menasor which was bad at 9 months. This might clear 14 months from Vortex to finished.

Mixmaster finally showed up. Can't wait to combine everyone when I get back, though.
>>11589857>>11589870Not so much a defense of Hasbro as a disrespect towards anonThe combaticons are coming out approximately one per wave. That's nothing to whine about
Finally got the DNA Megatron/Tidal Wave kit. I'll be heading to work soon, so I won't be able to install it until later, but I'm pretty stoked since I've been waiting months to install it on the Tidal Wave I bought for 100 bucks.
>>11588609
>>11590001be careful, G1 Megatron might try and steal this picture as coal can be used as an energy source
>>11589686How is this shit even possible
>>11589678Yeah the alt mode isn't great but the robot mode was fantastic and still among the best of modern TF, ER seeker on the other hand fucking sucks in both modes. Siege has misguided effort, ER doesn't even fucking have effort at all
Does your Scavenger have the hinge-doesn't-fit issue? I was expecting to have to fix mine, but it fits just fine. Not my pic, just grabbed it for expediency sake.
>>11589959Back when Combiner wars happen they dropped everything in one wave or two. This isn't even complaining so much as outing bad practices. Like anon said why even defend this bullshit when they use to be better than that?
>>11590068Enshittifying and shrinkflating the toys like they have been are bad practicesNot getting characters in the order you want isn't
>>11590085in fact, spreading out toy releases actually has benefits, as it means you won't be scrambling to pay 600 dollars for all the new releases before they sell out and then go on the aftermarket and get scalped.
>>11590085>Not getting characters in the order you want isn't I think it's more of what happens if the team isn't finished or worse quality control issues take root or further still what >>11588025 was getting at where the others didn't even have prototypes yet. They can't even get a backer Haslab right with just two robots combining, it's understandable to see issues that could happen with this or even the challenge of uncertain of you want the whole team or not based on what? Concept art? What if Onslaught is garbage? What if he sours and makes the whole combiner gimmick bad? Or breaks? Why would you assume they get anything right when they have a bad track record of the last five years getting a lot wrong? So that puts you in this stupid lose/lose risk of you either buy and sit on them hopping the last one or two are not lemons or wait until the last one rolls out and then have problems finding the figures from last year to finish the team. >>11590091It just cuts in the other direction and you get what's already happening with Devastator, Superion, and Menasor where one figure is very difficult to find due to the spreading out of several months which have wildly different shipping patterns. So really you just get the "go on the aftermarket and get scalped" anyway.
>>11589943i am quite lucky that the things I like almost never get many releases or reimaginings.i just wish I could get paid to review. I'd do a good job of it! I'm very thorough and I have a good voice.. but I don't feel like doing video editing, and youtube has made it very clear that your suffering is their #1 priority.
>>11590121>but I don't feel like doing video editing,Then you'll fit right in with Balt "no two-takes" matrix
>>11590122i mean in my defense, I do tend to do everything in one take. but that's when I have a scriptalso I don't want my face in the videos.. could I make a vtuber avatar?
>>11590015Because at the rate Hasbro's going Titans will soon be leader sized and cost $300
>>11590045Nope, mines has perfect QC. I was wondering why everyone was complaining about scavenger.
>>11590125just.. don't have anything reflective on the backdrop you record on, and don't do thew adams-style 'hold toy to camera', look more at that toy guy or emgo's videos
>>11590091> it means you won't be scrambling to pay 600 dollars for all the new releasesAnon if they released the four limbs with the commander in one wave, it should cost under $200. In fact if they released the Combaticons in one wave this year you'd save about $30 due to the price hike that we know is happening for next year making the four team members cost more. We don't even need the aftermarket now, Hasbro and it's affiliates just starts the scalping ever quarter now.
>>11590150I remember wishing these companies would just put out more merch, since they're leaving money on the table and handing it over to scalpersi think they learned the wrong lesson...
>>11590150If the prediction of another 12% increase on top of what we have seen is still coming as the market is projecting it'll be more than $30. Commander would be near $120ish and Deluxe would be $32ish >>11590155Yeah this all feels very monkey paw doesn't it? Look at Studio Series Soundwave, that's basically what people were asking for all the way back in 2018 when Siege and Earthrise were announced/released and it took them over 7 years to make this voyager scaled bot in a very soft blue that's likely going to show stress marks easy with three cassettes(two just being the same mold) and getting it for $55 is seen as a discount price. If this is what 2026 looks like for Transformers I'm terrified to see 2027.
I got a copy of Retro Brawn and immediately returned it due to multiple qc issues visible right in the package. Had a gouge of plastic missing from his forehead, improperly painted faceplate, huge paint chip on his chest and finally his shoulders were visibly splayed out from his chest. Between here and tfw I think Ive seen all of these exact problems mentioned and this copy had them all. They are packaging him terribly. The tie downs are not only bending his shoulder joints but popping his chest open to boot. His clamshell is also not deep enough and he was slammed up against the bubble. All bad. As a last note, the package had a fine dust on it from the factory. Ive seen that ‘factory dust’ many times and I have correlated it to poor qc releases. That dust means the B team built that shit. This is why I vastly prefer finding stuff in store rather than buying online. Unfortunately they didnt have any on the shelf and I didnt think to ask them to grab more from the back. They wouldve said no anyway, they were very busy. All around a crappy experience. Sorry for the long winded rant. On the bright side my Seaspray is very clean in the QC department and dosent have any of the problems people are encountering Tdlr another qc headache. Many such cases
>>11590166The cassettes are also a great example of how spreading out toy releases of teams/crews just hurts the collectors, in Siege it was Ratbat and red Rumble, that was hard to find and if you wanted blue Frenzy you needed to by a 4 pack with two bots not even related to Soundwave. The Earthrise molds were even worse where if you wanted earth mode Laserbeak and Buzzsaw together you had to buy Soundwave twice, one as a $40 Walmart exclusive and the other a Leader class with another Ravage and Rumble that came out 5 years later. This isn't even looking over the exclusive Target Preceptor pack and the mess of Studio Series with $100 Rumble. It all just feels very fucked up when a decade ago they didn't have these problems. >Release Voyager FoC Soudwave with one disc bot>release a case of two packs that have the remaining 4 team members >Release the Soundblaster deco at retail with the one that wasn't in the game (Buzzsaw)>2 Quarters later do the same with Blaster and his crew Who in their department is making these choices? Somewhere they knew what they were doing and one day just lost the thread. Just what the fuck happen around 2018?
>>11590195Holy shit you got pictures?
>>11590196I never understood why didn't they just release a Soundblaster in the earthrise remold that came with buzzsaw and frenzy and Soundwave with laserbeak and rumble.
>>11590136Woah woah, they dropped the price for Star Convoy... they're going to be voyager sized and $150.
>>11589956I wish they had more 5mm ports on them. I would like to redo the attack modes the original toys had with the new parts, but there's just not enough spots to attach more than one gun.
>>11590045Mine is fine, but as per the wiki:>There are many reports of the figure have difficulty slotting the cockpit into the intended gap. If this is the case, it is best to sand down the round edges holding the cockpit part to create enough clearance to slot it in.
>>11590150>Vortex$26>Brawl$43>Blast-off$28>Swindle$43>Onslaught$90That's fuckin' rough...
>>11590214>Vortex>$26He started at $24, this hobby is just going full on clown world
>>11590210Scrapper not being able to have the chest plate on the back of his alt is a crime.
>>11590196They still know what they're doing. They're purposely pulling stunts so we have to buy the same figure over and over to get the other shit we want.Like all the companies, they've become so money grubby that they don't care how it looks.
>>11590199I did actually snap a pic of it..from exactly the wrong angle to show anything properly. I promise it looked much worse in person >blue Sloppy paint application >purpleThe whole side of his mohawk is scraped, into the plastic >pink Bottom of his faceplate has no paint and its all jagged bare plastic >yellowBent shoulder. In fact in my pic it actually looked warped or something >red Paint chipped completely off the whole corner of his chest to bare plastic >green Its hard to tell but he is actually touching the bubble here
>>11590202I waited and waited, and finally broke down and Ebayed the Seige Soundblaster so I could have something to go with Twincast
>>11590218do you mean the wings for the flying mode, because he can. There's tabs on the wings that line up with the slots on the back
>>11590221Bonus round: there is also scratches all over his faceplate and as a final fuck you, every pin still has all the excess plastic in it. Thats when you know the assembly crew fucked off
>>11590216I think youre joking but the latest deluxes are $30 already. Thats why I used the stupid walmart app to save $5 faggoty dollars and ended up empty handed with a pending refund. Extra fun fact of the day: Effective August 31 Walmart has stopped giving cash refund for debit card purchases
>>11590045No, all of my Constructicons are perfect in terms of QC - which is funny, because aside from them, everything else I've gotten has been pretty shitty.
>>11590166>If the prediction of another 12% increase on top of what we have seenAre you talking about another price increase beyond the one sending Voyagers to $42?I fucking called this shit like 2 years ago and again last year. Once they went over $20 for a deluxe it was over. What a shitshow

>>11590349i guess individually jointed scorpion legs was asking a lot.. it's fine.
>>11590362Ball joints are too expensive for deluxe class, please understand. We've never had deluxe arachnids have balljoints for their legs, and we've certainly never had it the past three times, so just be thankful for what you get. Also they might have thought that it would be too cumbersome for his grabbing hand to have that many ball joints (it would have been fine)
>>11590366I was actually thinking individual hinges would be ideal. Like one rod runs through all four legs on a given side, but the legs have individual rotations on said rod.
>>11590373Hinges need pins and metal is expensive, plastic hinges might be cool but it might get worn outI get what you sort of mean though and that would have been a fun bit though, he'd be able to hold smaller shit and have actual fingers instead of a clamp. But he's just a modernized upscale of the Beast Wars figure instead, huh.
>>11588589>>11588591I might get this mold if he's repainted as that target exclusive red guy, Skittles TC, or some other wacky G2 color pallet.

>>11590401Besides ultra Megs and Optimus, did beast wars really have that many standouts in year one? I mean, obviously at the time they were revolutionary for people who skipped g2 and didn't see all the articulation upgrades, but.. looking back, they're kinda generic. Basics were all kinda shellformers, deluxes were decent but half of them were retools/repaints of other deluxes. Scorponok was cool though.

>>11590426Oh in any case i think rhinox holds up
>>11590426that wasn't me, fyiuhh yeah I looked it up and I was really surprised at which toys were wave 1, because I had the impression I'd MISSED wave 1 entirely. I could never find rhinox, cheetor, rattrap..But yeah, Razorbeast, Terrorsaur, Dinobot, Polar Claw, Scorponok.. and that's just wave 1 OF 1996. 1996 apparently had 3 waves.
>>11590427>>11590428They hold up, sure, but compared to g2's offerings, I think the basics and deluxes were just about average. Amazing at the time to returning g1 fans and kids used to the limited articulation of TMNT and power rangers, though
>>11590431Pretty sure all G2 had mostly G1 redecos in its first year
>>11590433(besides tank Megatron)Yeah, I was thinking about the laser rods and the heroes and laser Optimus and the cyber jets since those would have been the 'standard' of the time.

>>11590349is that grimlock painted? why didnt they do the weathering thing like the original SS did
My Sandstorm/Slugslinger pack arrived. Now I can put Sandstorm on my shelf next Rodimus Prime, so Roddy can just constantly tell Sandstorm how much the planet he comes from sucks.
>>11590487sometimes I think that Rodimus deserved more time as leader, nobody could live up to Optimus prime and he was trying his bestthen I remember he was a dick like 75% of the time which is really funny
>>11590487>>11590489I took his intonation to mean that Paradon was indeed a perfect planet, and his sarcastic remark was him too bemoaning the loss of an innocent and peaceful place, but then again I already like Rodimus. >>11589469And all the joints. Just installed metal pins in his wrists tonight to keep his hands from popping off. Also painted the inside section of his ankle orange. I forgot to do that.>>11589543YES! He's a happy bug.>>11589849I think the original G1 has an axe but this is more like a cestus (punching blade)>>11589451You'll love him. He has some weird grey tabs on the back of his knees that you have to fold out in order to fold the legs up into bug mode. I don't know what they do? You can remove them if they....but you...and at first I thought they were locking plates or gap covers but they're tiny and do zip but flap behind his knees?
>>11590511damn son, you INSTALLED pins?
Why the fuck is SS86 Ratchet so goddamn expensive on the secondary market?
>>11590516Almost all pins/holes are standard diameter for transformers. Just get a drill bit that matches and you can pin just about anything. You can see his toes were supposed to be pinned, and evidences by the pin holes to nowhere on the sides of his foot but they went with plastic tabs. Fortunately his toes are sturdy, but his hands falls off.
Now can anyone tell me WHAT THE GRAY FLAPS DO?!?
>>11590527At this angle (as they sit in bot mode) they impede transformation and you can't fold up the legs into abdomen mode.
>>11590526sure but where'd you get the pin?
>>11590530But if you click them flat they fit into the little pocket there. But if you completely remove them, nothing happens. They don't hold anything in, don't tab to anything that I can see, what gives?
>>11590531One came from Skullcruncher's gator neck hinge. The other one came from a Skullgrin's chest hinge. (I have thousands of parts and pieces)
>>11590533aw man, I was hoping there was some obvious source for them.
>>11590531>>11590516To be fair I mod just about every Transformer I own. Adding new hands, new head, sculpting new pieces (like the chest chunk for rocky there and gave him a ball joint neck)
>>11590535Kinda. Go to Walmart and buy a couple of bags of their brads/nails/picture hanging nails until you find the right diameter. Those are a lot easier to clip and sand (and remove) than stock pins.Make sure to change up your Grapple heads to give everyone their own look!
>>11590536fuckin awesome, dude. I need to do a handswapjob on Bluebolts because she has the tiniest hands..>>11590538wouldn't those have a head on them that kinda gets in the way of it being a pin?
>>11590539That's why you get one of these babies, a RadioShack Cold Heat soldering tool (and conical tip) as it directs electrical energy to heat ONLY the pin itself allowing you to pull the heads right off without melting anything like a normal soldering tool that gets hot. Like Classics Prime has a really annoying neck pin at an angle and every time someone wants me to make a permanent Parallax kit conversion I just remove the old head and keep it. Works for G1 figs, stripped screws, all sorts of metal-heat applications. Swap away and take some pics!
>>11590547You can touch the axel to remove wheels, touch flat head pins and push them out, you can even touch it to your finger and nothing happens! Be careful around electroplating tho like taking apart the Lucky Draw gold figs because if you touch the surface it can instantly blister the plating straight off the plastic if there's not a clear coat on top! You can only find them on eBay but I'm sure there's another knockoff brand, maybe on Temu or something.
Getting a laser cut micro filesaw helps too! It allows you to make super thin cuts, like how I got Trailblazer's arm panels off and back onto his legs for this mod.
>>11590556The micro saws are super flimsy but man do they cut right through the hard abs plastic! You just gotta hold the piece still and keep your saw straight. Buy a couple sets because you'll go through your favorite sawblade eventually, getting dull.
>>11590547you can just get the head of a nail off that way?? that seems.. implausible.

>>11590596aww sorry to see that anon.. a zoid i bought just developed a cracked gear. it's never fun.
>>11590561Yep, as long as you can touch the end of the Cold Heat tool to part of the metal, anywhere on the pin, it'll heat up and allow you to pull the part free or the pin out if you have a grip on it. Best part is no damage. You can re-heat the pin and reinsert it if you wish, just use plastic tweezers to hold the pin.

>>11591014>one episode thingActually it was for like well over a year in the comics. It was a huge plot point and something Prime only did out of desperation because he sacrificed the last bit of energy in the Matrix to help keep a hospital of humans alive instead of using the energy to repair himself. You probably won't find a plot element of even that level of relatively basic depth in the entirety of the sunbow series.I know you're just a disgruntled, shitposting tooner, but I do love pointing retardation, even if it means giving a (You).

>>11591177>>11591283>the sides of the window frames are the same color as the windowsLooking at my SS86 Optimus Prime, it's the same way. The windows are a separate piece that are popped it, with a tiny bit of red paint going around the frame of the window (except for where the frame stops at the windshield wiper, which is part of the chest door piece). It looks like the same thing here, except instead of translucent blue plastic with a slightly metallic base under it, this one appears to be either opaque plastic or completely painted over blue.
This guy is awesome! My first ever, complete Devastator! I like how chunky and sturdy he feels in combined mode compared to my PotP Abominus or CW G2 Superion.Speaking of the latter, what are the odds of us getting a modern G2 Superion? For that matter, has there been any word on G2 Wildrider or Motormaster yet?
>>11591491I don't know how other people feel about it, but I would buy the heck out of a yellow G2 Devastator, and possibly a G2 Superion. The one I'm really hoping for is a G2 Bruticus. For some reason, I just love the G2 combiners color schemes!
>>11591499Not before they finish Menasor
>>11591499>I would buy the heck out of a yellow G2 DevastatorSame - I was originally going to hold off on buying any of the Constructicons the way I did with the Aerialbots in hopes of a G2 release, but I got impatient. When I was a kid, I owned G2 Scavenger, while my other two brothers had G2 Mixmaster and G2 Scrapper (hence why this is my first complete Devastator - my parents at the time didn't know what a combiner was and didn't know there was a box set, so we each got one 'bot and that was it), so in my mind, the yellow G2 colors are the 'correct' ones anyway.
>>11591447Long HaulBonecrusherScavengerHookScrapperMixmasterLong Haul is just a lot of fun to play with, simple to switch back and forth and takes any pose I put him in. People look down on the arm guys and I get it but Bonecrushers dumpy proportions and Scavengers overall strange shape is a lot more interesting and memorable than the rest to me. They also feel more dynamic for some reason, maybe its the balljoints and long legs. The rest are pretty basic design wise but I don't mind them.
The wee little ox
The fan is a good accessory for Starscream's level of theatrics
>>11591499>but I would buy the heck out of a yellow G2 Devastator, and possibly a G2 Superion. The one I'm really hoping for is a G2 Bruticus.Based on how G2 Menasor is shaking out I wouldn't be too optimistic about any of these.
>>11591530Reminder that G2 Wildrider was teased in January this year, and not only has there been no sign nor listing for him G2 Motormaster is going to cost something ungodly after the price hikes.
>>11591512Similar situation with me. I only had a G2 Mixmaster as a kid, so to me, the Constructicons were yellow. I'm kinda bummed that we don't really get to see them in that deco anymore, minus the recent half-baked Tonka recolor set, but that lacked the bright purple secondary color.. >>11591530>Based on how G2 Menasor is shaking out I wouldn't be too optimistic about any of these. You're probably right, but I wonder how much of the problem with G2 Menasor is due to a genuine lack of interest versus the nonsensical release schedule and horrible distribution issues. Both Dragstrip and Breakdown were a pain to find at stores, and the only reason Dead End was easier for me was because one of the Walmarts near me got an unusually large number of Toxitron cases.

>>11591519It's pretty awesome that his robot mode is modeled after a crow tengu. Even the way his chest intakes look is reminiscent of their outfits.
>>11591700oh god dammit
>>11591831ohhhhhi'm a huge mythologyfag, I feel like a jerk for not picking up on thatpoint of odor though: there are yama tengu and crow tengu, this is the former (human with wings and a long nose). the latter looks like an anthro bird (yeah one of these has a beak, but that's not the same)
>>11590882Shouldn't his nose be a lot longer for a tengu?
>>11591519That beast mode is really rough looking. Despite doing about the same thing as Airazor, it feels less like a bird. Maybe it is his blocky limbs. Demon Emperor Megatron should be really cool though.
>>11591835Point of point of order: The crow-headed Karasu Tengu are the originals. The more humanoid ones came later, and were the result of people conflating the crow monsters with territorial, hermit-like priests who had moved into the mountains to escape persecution for their beliefs; the long nose these later 'Yama Tengu' were depicted with are the remnants of what was originally a Karasu' beak. Thus, all Tengu are technically crow Tengu.>>11591836In this case, Starscream is indeed a Karasu Tengu - look at the shape of his helmet. This is why he doesn't have the long nose of a Yama Tengu.

>>11591519As an old school Dynasty Warriors fan, its giving me Sima Yi vibes, which suits Starscream perfectly.
we seriously need to bring back ball-socket-troughs. so you can slide parts along..
>>11591712I honestly wish they do halfsies for a G2 Devastator recolor for the Studio Series 86 version. Again, Diaclone bias because every single modern take on each of these 1984 G1 toys feel like remakes of the Car Robot, Construction Robo and Dino Robo stuff, and pardon the excuses, but we could get a yellow right leg and arms, and orange left leg and torso for all the efforts, and if that ain't enough, a yellow drum for Mixmaster to further match the Diaclone colors.Side note, with Leader Optimus Prime being our first Comic Edition toy that is labeled as such, do you think the only addition from the stock photo would be an effect part for the fusion cannon? A bright red effect instead of orange or purple would do.
>>11591847>>11591853Starscream being a crow is also funny because in Japan the word for noise a crow makes ("Aho") is also a word for idiot. >Megatron: At last, my plan to harness the electricity of Japan's catfish population is almost complete and the Autobots will be vanquished forever!>Crowscream: Aho! Since you seem to want a Diaclone version, that might make you happy, but that would be the worst way to make a G2 one by ensuring neither the people who want a yellow one, nor the people who want an orange one, get what they want. It might sound like a good move to you individually, but it would come at the expense of everyone else.

A poster attempting to prevent the Star Saber breakagehttps://tieba.baidu.com/p/10116245370Their piece has signs of the pin gouging the slot (pic). So aside from weak plastic and design, the pinning process isn't very accurate either.
>>11592038This seems so strange. paying so much for a figure and/or wasting the time to pick it up and to then have to waste even more time to make sure you don't break it.
>>11591972fewer figures are being made and you can tell they are trying to reduce inventory to avoid clearance outs. Consider that 2026 Deluxe and Voyager waves are now two figures each. Listings show 2026 wave one/1QT of AoP is Quintus Prime and Blast Off with and wave 2/2QT is Sureshot, Quick Strike. We don't even know where Junkion Jalopy fits in this. If China keeps the heat up things could get even tighter and it's one class size figure a quarter and online only. Walmart and Target both are talking about reducing or even eliminating toys and sporting good sections by 2027.
>>11592082This post helps me understand how spoiled transformers fans are.
>>11592094Can you blame the "collectors" though?Like if you're talking about plastic models that you have to put together yourself Unless the kit itself is no good, whatever fuckups that happened, it's your fault. No one else's. You can either quit or do better next time The problem is with factory assembled toys, you paid the money but you don't really control how good the qualities are. It's not just transformers. Have you seen how screwed up constantly bandai with their metal robot and meta build line. And they charge like twice the price as most large MP figures for them. The least you should have is for thing not to break on you when you trying to do thing to the thing is designed to do.I wonder if people is willing to pay $30 for a deluxe figure and more for other classes if Hasbro can promise at those prices you literally won't be getting any figure with any QC problem- kinda like the current diaclone line. But the problem is I think parents are still buying transformers toy for their children.
>>11592115I don't blame any collector for being mad that their expensive toy is broken out of the box, I've been there as have most people that collect toys long enough. I find you saying it seems strange to be funny is all, spoiled even. Toys with tight tolerances that require you to open them up and immediately go to work fixing the shit QC are not rare and not a new phenomenon. Things will always screw up between the design process and actual production. That most transformers work out of the box and are mass market releases is kind of amazing when you really think about it. Prices will rise and quality will always be on the edge of workable and disaster, nothing new under the sun while businesses squeeze out as much profit as possible. Thats then end of my TFW esque rant lol

>>11592775I never understood how minicons were supposed to work. Why can't Starscream just use his shoulder cannons whenever he wants to, they're part of his body. Why's he need a little guy to j-jam it in before they'll turn on and fire? That shit makes no sense.
>>11592945Think of it as, the Microns transform parts of their kibble(that would otherwise be useless) into weaponry. Like on Hot Shot, his rear axle is just a backpack; it's not until a Micron powers it up and turns it into a weapon. On Starscream, I like to believe that they're just jet engines or something or other; they don't become cannons until they're transmogrified into cannons by the power boost.
>>11592945They don't. When they use them the first time, it just unlocked a feature, but they could still use their new feature without the minicon. When they're used later, they only work as a power up and they later just drop this.
>>11592948>>11592953I didn't realize they were supposed to be shapeshifting the 'living metal' of the bigger transformer's body or whatever, I always thought they were just unlocking some hidden but fully present built-in feature, like Primus meant for Starscream to have big ass shoulder cannons but he needed a little buddy to unlock them for whatever reason. Semi related, did any of the Armada guys combine the way Cyclonus and Blackout did, where the little guy becomes a piece of the larger one? Blackout forms a new cockpit for Cyclonus, and they're the only ones who I remember doing that, whereas all the others just got stuck on like energon chips or whatever.
>>11592945>>11592948>>11592953>>11592976I imagine it was a way of efficiently managing the power boost of a Mini-Con without it frying their circuits as well as it being a strategic placement. Like Hot Shot's Axelzooka for example. He could technically use it whenever he can but when Jolt powerlinx with him the extra boost in power goes directly to the Axelzooka only rather than his entire body making the Axelzooka deal more devastating damage and allow Hot Shot to remain unchanged. Not to mention where Jolt attaches (which is Hot Shot's ass) is directly below the Axelzooka allowing the transfer of power from the Mini-Con to the Axelzooka travel much quicker than if it were anywhere else (Having a Mini-Con attach directly to a weapon probably isn't a good idea if it gets shot out or destroyed so no one would have a Mini-Con attach there). The part about the Mini-Xon attaching to the big bots making them deploy the weapon is probably done out of convenience and to look cool.
>>11590837>>11590835Oximus Prime os awesome but fuck me Starscream sucks. Even if it somehow isn't an Airazor retool (doubt) its still one of these awful "squat down and hide your srms" bird transformations.I will say though I really like the null rays being japanese muskets, thats very cool.

Do you think it’s weird to buy G1 KO’s for other people? My nephews (4 & 6) love my collection, but really struggle to transform most of the legacy stuff, and just ignore the current simple stuff that’s aimed at their age-range.Thought about getting them the KO G1 combiner gift sets for Christmas - the leaders are good looking but easy to transform, the boxes look great, and what kid doesn’t like a combiner?I have a few of the sets myself, and the quality is surprisingly really good. But their parents might still be upset that I’ve given them unlicensed stuff (if they suspect that that’s what it is). Also can’t help feeling it’ll look a bit like I’m trying to relive my childhood through them. If I DO get them, Abominus is a lock in (one nephew loves Godzilla and giant moster stuff), but can’t decide on the other - Computron pairs well with Abominus, and the technobots are cool, but always thought Scattershot’s alt-mode looks half-assed and disappointing. Other nephew loves fire trucks and obvious-hero characters, so maybe Defensor, but the smaller protectobot KOs feel a bit flimsy.Thoughts? Maybe I’m just thinking about Christmas too early.

>>11593026you know what, that actually makes a lot of senseif there's one thing I want to see more of in scifi, especially scifi that already has somewhat magical elements, it's ~insertion~somehow it just fits better if you have a magic... gun clip, or a magic robo elf, or whatever, and you plug it into your gun. now your gun does the shootyshoots better. maybe it used to fire bullets, but with the magic upgrade, it now fires BEAMS. that kinda thing..

>>11593396i'm allergic to it.>>11593412totally logical. they're good for little kids.
>>11593494Its a damn shame, surely there has to be a better way to do bird mode transformations. I know "robots judt underneath" has been an issue with bird and plane modes for awhile, but spmetimes they at least try. But at least the muskets and cool bot mode will be my consolation prize with Oximus being the obvious primary prize there.
>>11593473hell if anything, it's keeping your childhood with children, instead of trying to enjoy the same toys as an adult even though they really don't hold up beyond the nostalgia.we have our more complex and fragile adult collectibles now. and just like with PCs, we're the first and last generation who will ever really grow up with memorable toylines.
>>11593503birds are hard, but i'll say this: airazor would have worked a lot better with a larger bird head. both for the beast mode to look more proportional, and so that it fills up her entire chest-chunk like in the show. no idea why they didn't do that, but I think it had to do with the torso compression joints, and how they had to be reinforced?there's gotta be a better way of doing the legs, but.. for Airazor, they had little choice, since that's how her original toy did it, and the show model just cheated the legs longer, same with Animated Swoop
>>11593508I think they could make wing area by the birds torso a bit thicker and have the arms slide back into, but the biggest issue is the legs, its weird when they are way too long. I'd fix that but making the waist joint traverse up near the top of the torso somehow in transformation, then rotate backwards so the knees end up where the hips were.I'd rather it result in a fat looking bird than it looking lime someones wearing a paper mache bird on their back and squatting down ya know?
>>11593504Honestly I think a lot of the G1 toys are better than modern TF fans give them credit for. Of course thats because those were toys and modern adult fans forgot what toys were amd what playing was, they have no imagination left in them. You can see it every time some youtuber sneers as Base Mode for a transformer. As a kid though a Base Mode is awesome, you were getting a robot, a vehicle, and a playset all in one.
>>11593533honestly just to be fair, while i said that, i was visualizing MY childhood, the beast wars toysI think they are still perfect for a kid to play with, but my shelves MOSTLY have the new guys, with only a few old ones (Quickstrike for example)
>>11593533Most modern base modes are awful, so it makes ones in the past viewed with a taint.
>>11593539They'd be better if they still had the gimmicks and spring loaded missiles but I think a kid would still get lots of fun out of them
>>11593503>surely there has to be a better way to do bird mode transformationsAbsolutely there is. Unfortunately it doesn't work really for Starscream, since they obviously wanted to retain the visual of the wings on the back.

Hasbro fucked up the tusk kibble, it's oriented the wrong way, the missile pods are the wrong shape, his weapons look neutered and the Big Cannon kind of looks worse. Look into getting the Encore version if you can find it. The Age of Primes version does handle the kibble more tightly, but implements everything else kind of badly. The tusks look incredible on this version and his got cooler gimmicks on the original which I'd normally not hold against the original but they're so pathetic on the new version I can't help but recommend it. The new version's tonfas are so short they're barely longer that his how far his fists extend. It's pathetic. I feel like the original's pile of kibble is part of his ridiculous arsenal and the new one screws all that up.

>>11588681>>11588659So why are the parts that should be chrome and silver not consistently colored the same way across different characters? Grimlock, Prime and Megatron have chrome, and other character who have silver and they're each colored totally differently. It's almost like that didn't try to replicate a chrome and silver look that the toys had consistently onto the cartoon models and just chose to color them however they wanted. Like they decided to give the cartoon ccharacters their own individual color schemes. Warranting them being different on modern toys decades later. The cartoon translated chrome differently across various characters and translated silver differently across characters. Those differences should be reflected on cartoon interpretations. Now, when Hasbro does a pivot and swaps over to toy specific designs in 5-10 years so they can redo everyone to capture those types of fans, I fully expect them to if not chrome, at least paint all those parts the same silver across all releases meant to mimic chrome and silver. And if (lmao when, grey plastic lool) they fail in that regards, we'll mock them. But not for cartoon characters, let them do their own things.
>>11588692Minibots never had a classification besides the toyline and maybe? (I'm not sure) Marvel. And while they were generally considered the smaller dudes in t he cartoon, that eventually lessened up to the second wave of them and past season 3. Some of the later ones were as tall as some of the season carbots. Most of the modern Minibots are still smaller than most modern Carbot Deluxes.
>>11593866There were even Minibots who were "retools" of the original guys which were actually taller than their original figures, lore wise.
Got a quick Minibots collection pic. Only missing Seaspray, Outback and Windcharger who are officially coming which leaves obvious retools like Swerve, Tailgate and an official Powerglide eventually. If we can get a Rook, Glyph and Tapout that would be great. Even more amazing would be Buggyman, Man-O-War, Rest-Q, and Badboy.

>>11594224Ok, except Pipes and Bumblebee are literally in scenes together and Pipes in no way dwarfs Bee that much (or Swerve, or Tailgate, or Beachcomber etc)So yes instead of looking at the shitty animation the only recourse seems to be to compare what sizes the characters *should* be to intuitively make sense (or if we pretend the show had better art and animation). And under that criteria, there is absolutely zero good reason for Pipes to tower over Huffer, the guy he is a literal retool of.
