It's only been 5 days so there's no real news to update - save that Mattel clarified they will be releasing the DC/Spin Master compatible toys in mid/late 2026 and their "adult collectibles" figures starting in 2027.

So yes, we are stuck with re-use, poor/missing/minimal/no paint, side eyes, no accessories, etc., for another 14 or so months.

>Legion of Superheroes been done?
McFarlane did two versions of Electric Lad but made the mistake that the chase version was the one from Bendis' short, unpopular run.
They announced Cosmic Boy as an upcoming figure, allegedly in the next few months:
https://www.instagram.com/p/DPpHjegEne8/

I think that's it, so far; he won't really get much time to get a full team out and I'll stick to my DC Direct even if they articulate less.
>>
>>11597745
Havent they done starboy or is that coming soon?
>>
>>11597737
Take a look at what Mattel's DC Multiverse was releasing before McFarlane and you'll see all the complaints you listed besides side eye will still be there after they take over.
>>
>>11597840
nta but I'm cautiously optimistic judging by their Revelations stuff.
>>
>>11597860
I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. He-Man stuff tends to be an exception, and not the rule.
>>
>>11597860
We've been over this. Mattel OWNS He-Man so they can afford to do a really good job on those and no one tells them what to make. Revalations was pretty divisive with fans so the figures HAVE to be good to entice people to buy them. DC already has a huge fanbase so Mattel could shovel out crap knowing fans will still buy it.
>>
>>11597868
>we've been over this
>doubles down on delusional assumptions
>>
Even if Mattel makes garbage at least McFartlame won't have the license anymore.
>>
>>11597937
Ok, I'm doing some assuming but point out what makes no sense. Of course you're going to make the least amount of effort if you don't need to.
>>
>>11597938
Just because something is less bad doesn't make it good.
>>
>>11597938
This.
>>
>>11597943
Literally anything is better than putting up with Todd's bullshit.
>>
>>11597941
Nah, it isn't worth my time debating with delusional retards over things that won't be released until next year. We both know you'll spend the rest of the thread throwing a tantrum, I'm just letting you know nobody cares about your rants.
>>
>>11597950
You cared enough to post a pretty detailed response... Attack on my character rather than actually engaging with the argument. Guess I win then.
>>
>>11597937
It's not really an assumption when you can go out right now to the store and see non He-Man Mattel product isn't as good as the He-Man stuff. Look at Wrestling figures. They're, not great, at best.
>>
>>11597737
>A whole other year of low-effort, barebones, overpriced, artificial scarcity induced domestic figures
>Import prices have gotten ridiculous, have wildly fluctuating tariffs, and most Japanese stores won't even ship except via DHL which has additional fees
>>
>>11597951
>makes assumptions about toys coming out in a year
>gets offended when anons make assumptions about muh character
got it you're just here to debate stupid shit
>>
>>11597963
How many more DC figures do you even need? Most of us are finishing out core teams and don't need duplicates.
>>
>>11597964
Hey, you're the one not familar with the ad hominem fallacy. And, as anon pointed out, it's an educated assumption based on evidence we already have.
>>
Hi guys, life long extant fan here. Will i be able to easily order an extant figure today? If so where would i go to order an extant figure?
>>
>>11597975
>How many more DC figures do you even need?
Honestly, I feel this way about every line I collect. How many more Goku and Vegeta figures do I need? How many more Spiderman and Wolverine figures can they possibly make? Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream have dozens of cheaper iterations to choose from. I already have my core DC teams, why do I need more Batmen and Supermen at this point. I honestly feel as if the toy market is going to implode pretty soon.
>>
>>11597937
He's right though. Mattel owns Heman so they don't need to factor in the licensing cost into the revenue from the line. With DC they do so DC figures will have lower budget allocation per figure than Heman
>>
>>11597982
Gamestop still has it for now, but maybe not for long
>>
>>11598023
No.
>>
>>11598035
You're not too good at this arguing thing, anon.
>>
>>11598023
>With DC they do so DC figures will have lower budget allocation per figure than Heman
Just this fact alone makes me think the DC stuff won't be as good.
>>
>>11598045
>this fact
It's just a delusional assumption he keeps repeating.
>>
>>11598050
If you've heard people on the corporate end of toy production talk you know that's exactly how it works. No corporation is going to take a profit hit to give you better dc toys.
>>
>>11598053
You've been screeching about the sky falling for hours and now you're talking about the corporate end of toy production. Mattel made a better pitch than anything Todd could offer so DC went with them. I'm not interested in any more of your insane mental gymnastics.
>>
>>11598056
NTA, but it isn't a wild assumption to believe that, like the rest of Mattel's product, that the DC stuff won't be quite as good as the He Man stuff. This is true for Jurassic Park, for Wrestling, it was true for LIghtyear. Sorry if that bothers you or upsets you or gets you mad, but it's a fair assumption to make based on the evidence provided.
>>
>>11598050
Mattel would have to pay DC licensing costs while they don't with He Man is a delusion?
>>
>>11598056
Are you one of those autistics that believe they're only arguing with one person at a time?
>>
>>11597745 #
Other way around. The real Lightning Las in his 80s costume was the chase figure and Nigger Bendis/Doomboot Lightning Las was the regular figure though both versions came with a regular alternative white Garth head (while only the Nigger Garth got one with removable face plates).

No clue if Cosmic Boy will get a classic 80s variant.

>>11597774 #
We Got Star Boy but with a Devils Paw deal where it was the Kingdom Come/JSA full body zentai outfit with a face concealing hood and no unmasked head.

As for any additional Legion figures, it's been joked that Todd could easily churn out Dawnstar and Wildfire; the Dark Star figure SCREAMED pre-tool version of Retro boot Wildfire while Dawnstar could easily be retooled from Hawkgirl. And that Todd could release them as a two pack to rush both of them out to fans

Yes, Yes, Yes - Exactly.
Mattel was replete with reuse where the character had the wrong boots, wrong wrist, or simply one emblem slapped right on top of the emblem being reused.
SAME OLD SAME OLD.
>>
Seriously, though, how did Todd even get a huge DC license to begin with?
>>
>>11598071
One two punch of New 52 (DC forced Mattel to switch to only making New 52 designs for retail and Mattel having to grovel to be allowed to release classic character designs as sub club only that they had in the works before the order came down) and the fact that Mattel killed all mass retail interest in the line via a series of waves that were a mix of Dark Knight Returns and a New 52 wave based on a story where Superman turned into Doomsday that resulted in stores swimming in hideous Super Doomsday, DKR Batman, and girl Robin figures. NO ONE WANTED....

>>
>>11598069
Thanks for the more specific reply. I wasn't interested in either of those Lightening Lads since I knew it was going to be more of Todd's Fake Scarcity Nonsense.

>could release them as a two pack to rush both of them out
If he has until next December, he's got no reason not to put out Saturn Girl but he will manage to fuck that up, and no one really considers those three as the core team among hardcore Legion fans.
>>
>>11598070

>>

So it's less a case of Todd doing something right and more DC/Mattel screwing up? And Mattel is now getting it back? And we're supoosed to be happy about it? Sounds like the problem is more WB/DC to be honest.

Don't bother.
Most of first waves of figures are already discolored, have ripped diapers, or their joints have gotten brittle and snapped. All of his figures were made with such low quality materials that replacing them with Mattel's figures will be mandatory.
>>
>>11598383
Why do you lie? Some of the early figures didn't even have soft diapers, like Art of the Crime Batgirl. She had a hard diaper.

I guess if you take exchange rate into account. Stuff is usually between $20-30CAD. Right now Deathstroke is $45 for some reason. Must be the algorithmic pricing.

This. The early figures are so brittle they crumble during play sessions. The other day I picked up a Batman and he was covered in black jelly oozing out of his cape.

I'd also like that - which is why I chased down and purchased the cold cast statute.
And it really wouldn't be hard to do as plenty of bad to so-so customs would point out, but Todd would find some way of fucking it up, like using a bad head sculpt like PICREL where Clark looked top old or have skinny arms, exactly like that overpriced tee-shirt version of Conner McFarlane pushed out.

Good bad news:

Good: My Wal Mart FINALLY got in some new Multiverse figures after five months: Silver Age Batgirl, Hush Riddler, and Guardian.

Bad news: I didn't have money when I first saw them earlier this week and when I went by this afternoon to pick them up, they had sold out of everyone but Guardian.

Guardian is pretty plain save for his face as Todd managed to make Guardian look kind of sexy even with his face mostly hidden by his mask. He looked better than Hush Riddler, who was way more generic anime looking and not like the Jim Lee himbo version of Eddie that was perfectly captured ages ago in the DC Direct Hush Riddler figure.

Todd's not done a good job on bodies for female figures, by and large. His Superwoman from the Crime Syndicate, for example, which was always done as a sexy villain character even in the most G rated toy versions previously released, came across like a late middle aged cougar mom who still thought she could sex up her son's junior high school friends by wearing a leotard.
The penis bulge in the Classic McFart crotch diaper issue from his re-use, which however much Mattel reused bodies, was never a problem you saw.
And, as others have often pointed out, the proportion issues - either the torso was off with the length of the arms, or the length of the legs were off for the rest of the torso/arms, etc.
People don't talk about it, but he's also made as many face sculpt 'mistakes' with female head sculpts as he did with unmasked male sculpts in their entire DC line history. The real reason the problem isn't talked about more is that a good 40-45% of Todd's output has been Batman with a mask/cowl so people don't complain.
But no one bought either of the two unmasked Rpatz's figures because it was a stupid design choice/decision to produce and because the muskrat eye head was useless otherwise.
>>
>>11599343
Thatd be pretty nice. I was glad i got the yellow/red costume otherwise id probably wouldve bought an extra. I think this was one of the few multiverse figures that had a broad appeal to toy collectors outside of dc fans.
>>
>>11598892
I'd like another Star Boy so I agree with that.
For similar reasons, Brainiac 5, Sun Boy and Mon El.
I'm not sure I would trust Todd to make a Phantom Girl or a Dream Girl that would satisfy most fans - there would be one or several issues with whatever he outputs.
Also based on the designs for Cosmic Boy, for whatever reason he intends to push one of the alternate chase versions to be the Bendis Legion designs by Ryan Sook (who is a great artist and can do really sexy designs for male and female heroes, but shouldn't be allowed to create the character designs/models for a series ever again, based on this).

So i had this weird brain idea, what if todd did a greatest hits type of deal for multiverse? That way some of us could get those hard to find figures like cyborg superman? Hes done three azraels all in diffrent colors and the origjnal still commands a high price so its not like releasing a power girl in a new box would really affect the scalper market right? Hes done a target and a walmart red tornado and once again the second hand prices are still high. Idk, just seems like it would be away to say thanks to those of us who have bought multiverse for a few years but it would be cheaper than creating new figures too right?
Idk, what do you guys think?

DC's license with Todd doesn't have a special "Protect The Scalpers" trigger where Todd gets fined an extra $10K for every figure he releases that will screw with Scalpers.

All Todd has that keeps him from doing this, besides Stupid Business Sense, is this: >>11599666

Or care about his artificial scarcity anymore because he'll just reprint it again. The only thing McFarlane Toys has is the bullshit hype and fear of missing out. He'll reprint with color variations or doll capes but if he just outright reprints a figure then the fantasy that keeps his company alive collapses.
If he could afford to print more than 10,000 units of every figure he would, so the artificial scarcity is the illusion that makes him look sexy and sassy to larger companies he makes products for like WB.
If he's reprinting because he couldn't meet market demand then WB starts flirting with other companies like Mattel. Under no circumstance can McFarlane Toys reprint or everything falls apart and companies will just move to Hasbro and Mattel with their franchises.

People talk about Todd and McFarlane Toys interchangeably because that's how he positions himself.
>>
>>11599841
Capullo did draw those designs in the comic and McFarlane molded Capullo as an artist on Spawn

Jesus you big dumb aspie, it's easier to refer to the company as 'Todd' than typing out McFarlane Toys. Plus most info about toys is distributed through social media accounts where he personally promotes toys. The one thing I really dislike about Todd's post-pandemic practices (2023- ), is that it does seem like (a) he's both uninterested and unconcerned even for the consumers who have supported DCMV and the other DC products he's pushed out since he go the license, and (b) that he so senselessly and stupidly engages in practices that harm his own business interest while they are also practices that spite not just those 'supporters' (who have diminished every year McFarlane has had the license) but also seem to spite DC.

>>11599794
>makes him look sexy and sassy to larger companies he makes products
The problem with your fantasia fan fiction, Jarrett, is that the people who control the licenses for say Disney/Fox (in the case of McFarlane's Avatar merch) or Netflix (Witcher), and especially WB (Dune), is that they all know each other - know each other well, and are friendly with one another since many of them have been co-workers on the same project at some point in their careers.

That McFarlane currently can make a certain set of small statutes of Marvel characters that aren't selling is meaningless. You don't see any other major entertainment conglomerate lining up to get into bed with Todd.

>>
>>11600318
Given we are in the most risk averse environment for toys possibly ever, I expect them to cut every corner, just like McFarlane Toys is doing now
>>
>>11600331
The waist ball joints aren't too bad on Mcfigs--they offer more than just Mattels waist swivels for sure, it's usually the upper ballpeg at the chest that cant go forward at all due to poor initial design of the internals of the figures. With the wrists+ankles it depends a lot on the figure. Some are near impossible to reach the joint due to an overlay so those have shit range. Others are pretty good there (although it looks weird if its not a ball and is one of those ugly sculpted jobs). The pseudo-butterflies are sometimes ok and sometimes add nothing, again, depending on the figure. The toe joints are usually fine although the figures are too heavy to use them without stands. Mcfigs tend to really heavily come down to individual figures--they have a standard set up but often there are a lot of per figure eccentricities that can make them shittier.

So what you are missing about Mcfigs vs Mattel is actually that Mattel's advantage would not be in better range but in having boot cuts and thigh cuts. That is where Mattel could improve on articulation of Mcfigs. However there will be backsliding too. Like a lot of new masterverse females now have single jointed elbows--the new Eternia Evil Lyn, She-Ra, Teela. That is a bad sign as it means they are looking to cut corners vs the earlier masterverse that had doubles.

So overall as long as Mattel follows masterverse, for Mattel DC vs McFarlane DC, I expect leg articulation to get a lot better, but arm articulation to get a lot worse and torso articulation to be a bit worse.

>>
>>11600347

>>
>>11600347

>>
>>11600347
There's nothing inherently WRONG with single joints. They often look cleaner.
>>
>>11600359
>Single elbow joints are bad all of a sudden?
In domestics? Always were.
>>11600363
>There's nothing inherently WRONG with single joints. They often look cleaner.
Unless you actually want the figure to be able to pull off a ton of poses which are only possible with greater range. Singles can work if they offer huge individual range like some imports do, but the masterverse ones do not. They offer a bit less than 90.
>>
Todd has cancer
Mcfarlane having the line to the end of 2026 is a half truth. From what I understood mcfarlane DC multiverse ends with the supergirl movie. I don’t know if that means they continue to release 7inch figures under dc direct or just statues. Mattel is still on course to reveal at toyfair and release figures around July next year.
6 inch, wired capes, packed with accessories including guns and in the toy isle. $32-35 was the pricing I was told for the adult aimed line. The cheaper line will be styled and scaled like the 2000x heman figures. $20-25
That’s all I know about “boys toys”
>>
>>11600378
So then you compensate with the shoulder or butterfly or whatever. Not everything needs a Spiderman pose. Double jointed limbs have more parts which means more potential points of failure or looseness over time and usually greater cost. Single jointed elbows and legs aren't a big deal because they strike a balance between functionality, durability, aesthetics and cost. For most collectors and casuals they provide enough articulation without overcomplicating the figure.
>>
>>11600387
Gamerverse wolverine is the perfect example of single joints working and being better than a double. Ultimately it is a case by situation and doesn't work when cookie cutter articulation is applied
>>
>>11600378
This looks like shit
>>
>>11600389
Yeh, then you get into a bst situation like that one Wolverine packed with Sabretooth. And I think that was a double joint.
>>
>>11600389
gamerverse wolverine elbow barely bends past 90
>>
>>11600387
Dude, being able to touch your lips isn't a Spider-Man pose and that Evil Lyn can't do it. I have her, I know. And there are no butterflies on Masterverse. You can't make up range that isn't there by 'compensating' with the shoulder.

You are definitely not the type of 'collector' I would want deciding the articulation schemes for my figures. Double knees and elbows have been used for decades and are not 'overcomplicating' the figure, they are necessary on domestics to get decent range. Star Wars Black Series has removed double joints and has totally gone to shit in posability.
>>
>>11600396
So?
>>
>>11600402

>>
>>11600408
>>11600411

So, would you buy a single jointed Cyclops figure?
>>
>>11600399
Most Masterverse figures have a decent ball hinge shoulder so use full rotation to swing arms forward/backward, upward tilt to simulate arms raising across the chest, combine that with torso twist to make it look like the arm is reaching inward. Even if there's no butterfly joint, the torso joint (ab crunch or ball) and waist swivel can help. Twist the torso toward the reaching arm, giving the illusion that the shoulder is swinging forward. Lean the torso forward slightly to simulate the motion of the arm reaching inward. Also use wrist rotation and hinge. Use 3/4 views or angled front shots to hide lack of joint compression. You guys by and large don't know how to work creatively around limitations. That's why your poses look like shit.
>>
>>11600403
So how essential is a pose where a figure is touching their face?

Creativity can only get you so far if you have a pose in your mind but the figure literally can't do or doesn't look as good doing a limited version of it.

Also female arms are usually slender enough that they look fine when double jointed. It's often the male characters that if the joints aren't cut right they can look bad.

The very few Mattel's I have from this era (boxed up versus blister, more varied head sculpts, and the connect to collect era) are fine. They don't have the paint problem that some of the older figures have but I've also been to stores that sell ten and twenty year old Spawn figures by Todd still in their new, factory sealed blister cards, that also have similar paint fade issues so I assume that's more of an age thing than a specific Mattel thing.
These do tend to scale really small compared to even the DC Directs.
>>
>>
>>11600591
But then why are they still in toys in Target?
>>
>>11600595
That figure is a lot younger (like 2010s) than old Spawn figures from the 90s. Also I've found a lot of Spawn stuff from the 90s that somehow doesn't have discoloration issues. Only found around 2 that were leaking plasticizer.

Also found one from the 2000s that had a discolored blister and took a risk buying it but inside the figure was fine. It was however a figure that was fully painted staction era, which probably helps vs bare plastic when it comes to any discoloration.

Why didn't Dr. Mid-nite get a wired cape?
>>
>>11600617
>Also I've found a lot of Spawn stuff from the 90s that somehow doesn't have discoloration issues. Only found around 2 that were leaking plasticizer.
And I've bought first and second hand Mattel from the 2000s that has no paint and discoloration issues but opened up a McFarlane I purchased at Ross three months ago that literally smelled as if it has been sitting in a 5 gallon vat of turpentine. I left it outside (July) over night because I didn't want direct sun to hit, even setting my fucking alarm for 6 am to make sure I grabbed it and didn't sleep while it got fucked up. Honestly, it was a lot of effort for something that was just going to be a spare buck to me. It still reeks to this day. I've even tried wiping it off with a towel dipped in very diluted very mild dish soapy water and it also still feels greasy.

You can find both collector's edition and regular mcfarts in those collector's corner at Targets and vice versa or none at all. I don't think the employees care and the managers are either not told to make it an issue or don't care or don't prioritize it because they have bigger issues, like people stealing shaving cream and altoids.
>>
>>11600654
Well, I'll be... I apologize.
>>
>>11600664
Told you faggot
>>
>>11600661
Weird. Literally 0 modern McFarlanes have been like that for me. I wonder if it had something to do with being left outside or something on its journey to Ross
>>
>>11600670
Toddykins has a lot of explaining to do doesn't he.
>>
>>11600654
This just makes it weirder when characters don't get a wired cape. I mean, if Dr. Mid-nite can get one...
>>
>>11600654
Is he supposed to be a shorty?
>>
>>11600678
Power Girl is oversized. He is normal sized

>>11600677
Dr. Midnite doesn't have one--as a $35 CE. Despite other figures getting them still. There is no consistency.
>>
>>11600386
>packed with accessories
>still $25-35
That's how you know this is fake
>>
>>11600684

Damn, I was thinking about hunting him down but that's a dealbreaker. I always said plastic capes are superior, now look at that shit.
>>
>>11600654
so is dr midnite 1/12?
>>
>>11600606
Ew. No thanks. Modern look is superior.

The Riddler and Lieutenant Ro Laren joined the detective agency today. They both recently moved to Metropolis after their home shelves became too full and will bring valuable skills to the team.

Meanwhile the elves from Rivendell and the forces of Camelot meet in Themyscira, where their mightiest warriors raise swords together and swear allegiance. The elves are not men but instead blessed of the Valar and thus their presence is allowed on paradise island.

Go start a blog dude. No one here cares for your terribly lit photos and ChatGPT tier writing. The retard with the NECA display can't pose, but at least his photos are well lit.
>>
>>11600703
Idk about plastic capes man. I think plastic capes hinder some figures, eradicator and hourman and year two batman would be better with cloth capes imo.
>>
>>11600996
He poses fine, you're just an autist

He'd be fine if he had a wire to control the cape direction so it didn't look ridiculous and get bunched up at the top. Keeping the sewed up edges without the wire is a mistake, as it leads to the edges being too heavy and bunching/draping unnaturally. Power Girl's cape is actually too thick, especially given its so short, so she probably should've gotten a single piece of cloth. There is a Tim Drake Robin that has a wire but has a short cape that works well.
>>
>>11600907
There's a lot of inspiration in this pic
>>
>>11601113
No he doesn't. I mean, they're McFarts so I'm giving him some wiggle room but you guys have to stop posing like everything is 5poa. Especially torsos. Not one likes to bend torsos. Afraid to mess up diapers or...
>>
>>11601160
One must consider whether the pose one is going for needs to use the torso articulation. Also afaik, Sandman, Question and Riddler have no torso articulation that will stay to speak of due to the overlay always forcing it back. Not sure about Alfred. I know Jubilee is basically very limited as well.
>>
>>11600907
Have you considered hiring Hourman? He's a pretty good chemist, good for forensics and stuff.
>>
>>11601166
>One must consider whether the pose one is going for needs to use the torso articulation.
I would argue that making use of all the joints available to you, even just slightly, makes a pose more naturalistic. We don't stand like robots unless we've been in the military or something.
>>
>>11601093
Hourman for sure should have gotten a plastic cape. He's kind of a hard sell.
>>
>>11600907
>>11600910
cool stuff, anon
>>
>>11601196
Wired capes make hard sells easier. Everyone loves the wire.
>>
>>11601230
Thanks

>>11601187
I was thinking about getting him and Dr. Midnite but after seeing this shit >>11600654 I think I'll be fine without them.

I mean wired... sorry, too early.

Failsafe is a $20 "mega" figure with a $30 reused stand.

Also reuses legs and parts of the arms from Jokerbot. What a scam.

And please people, try not to cycle through a thread so quickly.
There's more to life than shit posting or (you)-farming.

Breath.
Go outside.

Go play on your patios with your toys.
Even broken toys deserve love.

I just want an Absolute Batman before McF loses the license. That’s one design that I think McFarlane would do better than Mattel, especially if it gets the mega treatment. Probably won’t happen though, I’ll probably have to settle for some anime inspired m, off model import AB figure. I’d eat up a whole BAF wave if it was to build this guy
