What can you really do with these figures though? They're essentially statues, so why not buy a statue as at that size would look good and be affordable too.

the pins really stand out in that lighting.

Also here is a toy. Why did people dislike this toy? I tend to assume most people hate most mcfarlanes because there is just such rancor against the company, despite them sometimes making some good looking figures. so someone enlighten me on this one, what is wrong with it? For a domestic mind you.

I dont like how they do the joints on the elbows there. It just adds more cuts. It's like SHF where they make cuts on top of cuts. It overcomplicates the articulation scheme. Does that method even enhance the articulation range or utility?

My second attempt to buy off WalMart paid off and I now have two of these Brainiac Drones for my army. I had $3 in "WM Cash" so it was actually even cheaper than the price shown. Plus free shipping without having to do something silly, like cut some bald billionaire a monthly/annual check.

If these ever really do drop to $15, I might grab two more, but I think two will be fine. Although for now I am having to pair them with my DC Essentials Brainiac figure since I didn't like either of the two DCMV's that McFarlane shat out.

I also bought the Yeti Spin Master Fortress 'Battle Playset' since it was discounted to $19.99. Y'all have my permission to laugh.
>>

As far as I know they can always send a platinum instead so there is some danger or benefit in army building them depending. I don't know if the green and black one goes for that much more on ebay than the regulars though

Yep, I had to return two, one to Bezo and one on WalMart. GameStop is where I bought one, paying retail but using my Pro coupon so it was $5. And BBTS has plenty, I was hoping they would dump them on their holiday sales, but got tired of waiting.

Like I said, two will be good enough with this Brainiac, which is 7 inches.

>>11620073
>>11620081
Yep, and not even a deleted scene, because it was going to be CGI - what they cut was language where Coronswet was further bitching at Krypto for being a bad dog because there were all these dead, dismembered abominable snowman between where he landed and the Fortress.

Yeti was on sale, like I said, and since it was a WalMart exclusive, I can't hope to get it there on clearance since there are none near/convenient to me.

I wanted the Fortress crystals, since unlike Todd's cardboard, these are actual plastic. I saw some video maker make a toy display Fortress, and figure I can use those and my own skills, cardboard, foam core, etc.

I've also been buying the small 3 inch sets of Spin Master figures when they are on sale (Toys R Us had them for as low as $8), to army build robots, and ultraman, and this comes with the one 3" Krypto, so essentially, I'm paying $8-10 for a Yeti that was never in the movie.

I'll cut back on one pint the next time I am out and about.

Something about how McFarlane did it looks bad. If they were going to go "can't turn his head" then they shouldn't have put a seam at the base of the neck there at all that breaks up the sculpt and looks bad.

>American stores' systems haven't switched to showing pictures
This has been discussed before. I've seen it on the McFarlane reddit and there's even a DC Fan Community connected to their comic book reading app, and the collectors forum there discussed it a few years ago.
Many people commented that they thought the wage slave staff at a Target (or other big box retailer where this has happened) don't care, don't feel they are paid enough to care, or just simply don't know.
If they use their individual hand-held price scanners (essential a mobile that can't make calls), an image does come up. But the registers aren't that sophisticated, or again, the employees are far too busy and over-worked to double-check.
OTOH, you would think even an ALTERNATE Batman would look like a batman?
>>
>>11620839
It's probably easier for them to just accept it rather than get into a battle with some potentially mentally ill and potentially armed customer over a return. They don't get paid enough to do that really. No one is going to give them a raise over not accepting back an action figure but the customer certainly could be an issue for them, especially if the customer makes a huge deal out of it or wants to speak to their manager.

McFarlane does not do reruns usually. They typically make modifications if they do reuse an old mold, like changing colors, adding glow in the dark, etc. Best case but rare different accessories, like the Ross "exclusives". There is a rumor that they may do a comic Poison Ivy but its been on rumor lists for a long time and no dice so far.

CT Batman arrived. Not gonna lie, for 17 bucks, it's one hell of a figure, especially with all the different accessories it offers.

Saw him making squeaky noises in most reviews, which I wouldn't have minded, but this one almost makes none at all. Took me a bit to pose him on the gargoyle, great look even if I didn't bother to make him look perfect.
First knock off I have ever bought so I'm completely blown away by how high quality this feels. If some Chinese knock off company can do this for less than 20 bucks, there is literally zero reason for Hasbro and McFarlane to not be doing this type of stuff (tons of accessories, great articulation) for 30-40 bucks.
>>
>>11621599
>>11621604
The reason it's so cheap is because they knocked off another companies designs and don't have to pay licensing fees. Also holy shit that paint slop, even for as cheap as they are, I still don't get the love for CT. And I have a couple.
>>
>>11621464
It's free money, why don't you regret not getting her?

>>11621494
Given that the giant Kong is basically a useless brick and should be thrown away, thats just 10 bucks for a Flash figure, nothing crazy
>>
>>11621627
>licensing fees
I always see this argument being thrown around but what would you say is the reason then for the shitty articulation McFarlane puts out or Hasbro being unwilling to offer a variety of accessories for their standard releases which would increase the production costs by only a few cents?
Yes, we all understand licenesing fees are a financial burden to some degree but producing inferior products with less accessories is completely on Hasbro and McFarlane

>Also holy shit that paint slop, even for as cheap as they are, I still don't get the love for CT
What is so difficult to understand about people liking a sub-$20 figure with tons of accessories and great articulation despite there being minor flaws? If a minor paint error is the only true complaint, I'd gladly take that and pay $50-$70 less
>>
>>11621599
where you pick him up?
>>
>>11621627
I mean dude paid $17 for it. Youd get similar issues on mcfarlane for $25+, which id rather have a bit of paint on the hood than a droopy eye for example. Id say dude got his value out of it. >>11621599
Can you swap these hands with a mcfarlane?
>>
>>11621657
The only people impressed with CT are people that don't normally buy imports.
>>
>>11621657
For $20, any figure with decent articulation, paint, and accessories is worth its money at this point. The only Western company actually putting something decent out for their respective prices are Jada Toys.

>swap hands with McFarlane
I don't think so. The scales are rarely compatible. The only thing that could be used though is the gargoyle
>>
>>11621665
You really need to stop being a contrarian just for the sake of it. I know a couple of people who own mainly Mafex but still say that they're impressed with the value CT offers. Everyone knows the originals are superior, nobody is arguing against it. You also won't die from understanding that people can cherish decent knock-offs, even if they have some flaws.
Repeating over and over how you're not impressed with the figs only makes you come across like a childish imbecile.
>>
>>11621674
Who do you think I even am?
>>
>>11621627
>I still don't get the love for CT
CT made toys fun again.
People who owned the original figures can have spare parts. People who love to customize figures can safely use this figures without paying too much money. People who cant afford or miss out on the figure can buy them until they have money or it get reissued.
Its a win for the community. As long as it doesnt fall apart and doesnt deviate too much. The only one seething about this are the elitist side of the community.
>>
>>11621681
This so much. People really underestimate how expensive figures have fucked up the hobby. People are scared to even pose figures nowadays, let alone play with them. It's an exaggeration for sure but do you see anyone playing on a regular basis with Hot Toys? You don't because people are scared the fabrics will desintegrate over time.

Having figures being offered for cheap, even if it's 90% accurate knock offs is one of the best things that has happened in the last 10 years or so. People also underestimate the spare parts aspect because most companies don't sell accessories separately.
>>
>>11621685
Lmao this overly dramatic bullshit is why I can't take you retards seriously. CT Toys are alright. I have three and they range from good to mediocre to outright bad. I get you guys are ecstatic that you can have cheap toys but these won't exist without the originals.
>>
>>11621682
What a disingenuous comment lmao. How about people start buying more of other characters to signal the industry that people don't want Batman figures anymore? Oh wait, people still buy every Batman version being released? Well I guess we have to endure companies spamming Batman over and over again.

I love how you don't understand basic supply and demand. No wonder threads are so shitty when people don't grasp simple shit like this.

I'd be one of those people who normally don't buy imports and I picked up a CT knock-off of one of the Iron Spiderling Homecoming figure as a present. Since the box wasn't taped up, I checked it out to find out the toy ARRIVED broken (wrist); I was able to get a full refund and didn't have to ship the toy back, so I gave her the backpack as a backup and just got a different Holland Marvel Legends from GameStop.

As for imports, I think the Fortress bases that some are doing for the Coronswet Superman are good, and would definitely buy the InArt head sculpt of David but even if I didn't hate the Gunn suit, I would still never waste $200 on a figure I am that ambivalent about.

Would definitely still consider a CT (or any other low end/low cost knock-off company) but only if I knew I could get a refund. I'm debating buying a Beast Kingdom, and aren't those essentially low-end imports like FondJoy?
>>
>>11621826
Are you seriously acting like CE WW is available for 20-30 bucks all the time? This was literally the first time I have seen her being offered for less than 45 bucks anywhere ever since she came out. And after two days, now she's sold out even with the sellers I found her at. I was patient enough to wait for the Godzilla pack, no?
There is zero way any shop offers her for this price again, I'm pretty sure of that.

>>11621903
Be sure to watch reviews on the Beast Kingdom figures. The articulation is way worse than McFarlanes and that is saying something

Im not sure why they gave him those droopy knees though, id like to ask neca how that got through since it makes the figure look weird.
>>
>>11620603
How much did you pay for it?
I bought her for $50 back when her price was still reasonable, I was kind of mad at having to pay $15 more but in retrospect I am so fucking glad I got her at all.
>>
>>11622128
Do you sometimes look at the figure's knees and question that gladness?
>>
>>11622081
>if you like it,
NAH, it was a curiosity. I didn't BUY it. I was at a secondhand record store in Hollywood, they sell a few pop culture items, mostly Funko and NECA stuff (think Elvira and the like), but they had three of those huge Gentle Giant Super Powers (based on the OG Kenner toys) - one of Robin as well, a very Lynda Carter looking Wonder Woman (not sure if it was new or had been altered, these were up on the wall and I wasn't that curious to ask them to bring them down) and a Batman. Overpriced as fuck, too.

If they had a Flash or a Superman, I would have considered. Hell, I might have even considered a jumbo of Hal. But since I don't have a dedicated 'cave' for toys, even if they were dirt cheap, it was a non-starter.

>>11621944

>>11621940
Yeah, thanks, did that.
Looking at a BBTS sale, and two noted hip problems, one calling it a 'dropped hip' but clearly showing that the leg pops back in and doesn't effect later posing. I suspect it will lead to wear and tear down the line but on sale, it's essentially the price of a McFart. And I don't have that particular version.

I did pre-order PICREL from EE; that buck looks essentially like ones that does have favorable feedback. It's slightly cheaper direct from Diamond, but Entertainment Earth will net me free shipping (plus free shipping on one of Todd's overpriced retro figures), and I can always cancel this pre-order if the BBTS one ends up being a disaster in hand.

I've never had issues ordering from EE, unlike some, whereas Diamond has fucked over plenty of people I know.

Far left (powder blue) looks the best, over all - as a Supes fan, although unlike you, I hate the mullet look and have avoided all those. One of these days, when I see that one for like $5-10 used on auction at eBay, I might grab it but I wouldn't have even bought them NEW on clearance for $13.99, which was the lowest price I ever saw one (not the powder blue) at a WM or Target, forget which.

The middle one probably is the best re-use buck, and assuming all three have the proper paint in the back and you like wired capes, you are probably best with that one. The other two bodies, while accurate to some of the comics, aren't necessarily going to scale well with whatever else you put them with (say any of the Superboys or Supergirls that McFarlane has put out so far, or a Wonder Woman) - but I think the middle one would work the best.

As for the head, it is a bit off-putting to have Supes look at you like you ripped the craziest fart of all time but that's typical for McFarlane. The only good thing is that he'll definitely go on clearance sooner or later which is when I'll buy him.

There's at least two very active trolls who have been really antagonistic ever since their posts started getting deleted last week.
One of them is a shill from the WH40k General, but since it's dead, he's been shitposting in pretty much every active thread now. He has like 4 figures that aren't by Joytoy.

The other one doesn't seem to own any toys.

>>
>>11624549
>Anon......McFarlane did make BAF waves.
yes, hence "McFarlane couldn't make BAFS without increasing the price of the figures"
They were 24.99 or something like that when the regular figures without BAFs were 19.99.

They also used to be placed in the collector toy section, probably because Target/Walmart didn't like that they had to deal with another SKU. So instead McFarlane made the BAF as a standalone figure and placed on the shelves instead of the pegs.

>just not to make the big characters unless you absolutely know they will sell obviously.
Black Adam was supposed to be a major hit movie though! Same with Blue Beetle and Aquaman!
Unfortunately, nobody really knows why shit like Aquaman 2 bombed in theaters while Aquaman 1 was a billion dollar hit, along with the other shitty movies.

Nevermind that McFarlane has a contractual obligation to produce the shitsandwich movie waves and high priced toys too.
Nevermind retail stores like Walmart/Target/Amazon DEMAND and overorder anything related to the shitsandwiches.
>>
>>11624565
BAFs were in the normal toy aisle. I saw them. Your area may vary.

And they did not have to make megafigs. They chose to do so. They could've scaled down the movie characters like Darkseid and Sabbac and made them only slightly bigger than normal ones and just charged 24.99-27.99 for a "deluxe" when the regular figures were 19.99

Way to prove a point. I bet you also buy that Amazon is just run better and does business better than B. Learn to actually understand what you are reading instead of coming to conclusions nobody mentioned, you imbecile.
Amazon is more "successful" because of their initial shipping speed and especially prices. Are you seriously acting like consumers don't care primarily about prices? By the way, it's clear as day that you know jack shit when you're talking about same day delivery when delivery speed has turned to shit on Amazon these past couple of years. Also, Amazon has declined massively when it comes to their ways of shipping with products like books often arriving semi-destroyed. This, along with the haptic experience, is why people still go to bookstores and toy stores.

Also rather amusing to see you have your own speculations about why Toys r Us failed when there have been countless reports in the past in business papers all across the globe stating that the inability to adapt to competition and huge debt were the two major factors of the downfall. Of course only you know better than people who were involved and experts on the field, Mr. Smartypants. Crazy how much shit narcissistic people like you can spout.

Making a toy smaller doesn't make it worse, it makes it better, since it wont take up as much space and will stand better
>>
>>11625497
>failing at scale isn't bad
you're nuts

the figures weren't even that big and they aren't any worse at standing up than larger Hasbro/Toy Biz BAFs.

Like i said, the problem with those megafigures shelf warming is just because they're from a shitsandwhich movie. You're not solving any problems by making a toy worse, because even at lower prices, those toys weren't selling. Saving on space isn't something that really affects the main buyer of these toys either, because Americans have plenty.
>>
>>11625535
Yes, McFarlane megafigures are worse at standing than most Hasbro BAFs. You can see reviews complaining about it on many of them.

It isn't just the movie megafigs that shelfwarm, most of the comic ones do too.

And every collector has to worry about space because we buy way too damn much.

I don't need to see reviews to know what it's actuallly like, because I'm old enough to own the old giant Hasbro and Toy Biz BAFs, and have bought more than a few McFarlane megafigures.
So i know first hand what the toys are like and it's why i said what i said.

And while I do have limited space, it'll be a while before i run out of it, and i want to fill that space with good toys, instead of halfassed releases like you're trying to make an argument for.

pic isn't even a 10th of my oversized figures/vehicles, some of which i have doubles and quadruples of, because i have space for them.

These take up way more space than oversized figures, mostly because their pieces are more fragile and you can't realy stack them up due to their weight.

You should check out some of the wargaming mats out there. They're like 6 x 3 feet so it's plenty big enough for larger play sessions, or you could buy multiples and link them together. Plus you can roll them up like posters and store them in corners by shelves.
Super convenient, super cheap, and you have a bunch of 40k stuff so I'm guessing you have minis, too.

That's a clever idea. There are foam ones out there you can get that are basically giant mouse pads. Basic foam is an easy way to set up foundations, but man those eat up space fast unless you make everything modular.

Yeah, mouse pads are easier to handle than giant mats, but like i said, you're limited in the designs those mouse pad people offer. You can actually fit them into shelves due to their size.

I looked into backdrops too, where you can get custom sizes and give them your own custom designs, but most times the resolution is too fuzzy.

I'm really surprised these mats and mouse pads aren't more popular, given how good they look and how cheap it is for a quick way to make a diorama. Given the quality of the image, you can use them for background too. Castle walls, death star walls.... holodeck walls.

Here's another gaming mat i bought. The rubber backing was too stiff though.

Todd's also committing, in some ways unnecessarily, to the bit.

I mean, he must knew that Sunken Citidal Pirate from the last Aquaman wasn't going to be a winner - but people also assumed those 12 inch PVC statues were megafigs (like the one of Black Manta) which would prob have made sense AS A MF for some fans/collectors. But at the price he released them, they needed some articulation - which Todd also refuses to do.

So then what becomes the difference between a mega fig and those PVC statues? I mean, I own a DTS Gallery of the Flash and I did stick some Flash action figures next to it in an old display but most people won't do that.

I bet that Kaju from July's Supes movie will be all over Ollies and Ross for the holidays at dirt cheap pricing, since it's already down to $19.99 on line.

>>11626119
I don't know how toys were allowed to become this way--so monocromatic. Look at that Jay, his suit is literally 4 solid block colors, most of it totally unpainted. They even use overlays for the boots to avoid painting. Paint prices increased, but it's crazy to me that they are so high that they would rather glue a whole other piece to the figure rather than just pay for some paint to color the boots.

Meanwhile the movie Gal Wonder Women are all fully painted, so either they cost a fortune to McFarlane, or all this corner cutting is not needed.
>>
>>11626119
Well they have mostly stopped articulating the megafigs that are new molds (ie Kaiju) or just re-releasing BAFs with a few changes like Jokerbot with a reused 2 pack stand for $50 (ie Failsafe), which is a clear sign they know megafigs are a failure. Which is quite harmful to the whole thing the McFarlane Toys brand was built on -- that bigger toys sell better. But that just isn't on the whole true with adult collectors, which is who DCMV is mostly bought by.

I guess they were trying to reach a wider audience initially and that is why they tried going with cool figures and the big figure strategy.

But the audience overlap just is not there. I can tell you if someone isn't into action figures, the market is 99.9% totally invisible to them and you will never sell to them no matter what you put out.
>>
>>11626119
>Todd's also committing, in some ways unnecessarily
Completely necessary, because they bought the license and not making movie lines would mean they'd pay a HUGE fine and likely not get renewal for the license (hue). And the first Aquaman movie made over a billion dollars. IT was a gigantic success and what everyone theorized on the old DC lines selling like shit: Mattel made shit products, which turned out to be true, given McFarlane's line more than doubled shelf DC shelf presense at retail and the fandom for DC toys has never been this engaged.

So they made movie toys like they'er supposed to and the movie bombed. Thus, the toys bombed too, because nobody cared about shit from shitsandwich movies.

Also, i don't know what the PVC statues you're referring to. They're probably DC Direct and not sold as kids toys.

>>11626226
>But that just isn't on the whole true with adult collectors, which is who DCMV is mostly bought by.
What an ego centric manchild perspective. It's literally impossible for this to be true and exist in the childrens toy aisle. Only Funko generates enough money from manchildren to compete against children, but they'er going out of business, because those manchildren didn't actually exist to buy that product.

As for why they stopped articulating the megafigs, it's probably three reasons. Prices would be sky high thanks to current problems and they want to keep their toys affordable. movie figures sold poorly, thus less trust in the product. But most importantly: the current economy sucks shit.

Cosnidering he's posted a collector figure while everyone else is talking about a children's toyline, he probably a third worlder or a weeb who's never left his basement.

And i really wonder what happened with Walmart shoving the DC line into the electronics section. As soon as Mattel announced they got the license back, everything was moved over.

but that still doesn't change the fact that the DC line is still being sold as a children's toyline, thus getting wider sales than any collector toyline ever could.

I understand about the movie license. I meant, he made the oversized (12") of Orm, Arthur, the Sea King, the fish and wasn't there one more? That's what I meant by "committing unnecessarily."

I don't know what else huge MTS could have made for the Superman movie, but I might have bought a 12" Hammer of Borovia. The 12" oversized of Coronswet has a cheap-looking stand (especially compared to the really nice stands the import manufacturers are making for the 7/8/9 action figures).

I mean, I know they wouldn't have gotten approval, but an oversized 12" of that middle finger on a desert diorama base, with say an 8" Guy figure would probably have sold better than the Kaiju will end up selling.

>>11626226

It's extremely normal for any toy company to make a shit ton of movie figures, especially s ince the last aquaman movie made over a billion dollars.
In fact, the past had even more movie figures and they didn't generate that amount of cash even after considering inflation.

>>11626276
Yes, that's a Classified figure next to the Terminator.
Joytoy's line claims to be 1:18, but the old figures were more like 1:20 scale. Their newer figures are larger now and are probably 1:16 scale like McFarlane's Halo line from the 00s.
McFarlane's WH40k line is marketed as non-scale, so the height differences change as much as Joytoy's line.

Everything else in that image is 1:18 scale (Star wars, avatar, ghost in the shell, fortnite, jazwares halo, robocop).

And as for your neighbors... is your street really that active?
I guess I'm lucky, because if i wanted to use my front yard, i could use it all afternoon without anyone ever passing by. After the mailman does his thing, i can stay out there until it gets dark without anyone ever passing by. Watch your street and see if you can notice a pattern.

My backyard is too deep and with enough trees that i'll never see my backyard neighbors and my next door neighbors can't really see shit at most angles. One has a window allowing them to look over my wall, but they keep the blinds closed 24/7 because i could also be able to look inside and there's a tree that partially obscures that window too.

adults have been talking for over two days about why mass merchandise retailers (like Target) no longer sell toys

which means adults can only order them on-line
which means sucking bezo's dick (or walmart dick) and paying for prime/WM+

or paying for shipping

or sucking Todd's dick and paying for shipping

pay attention - it's not that hard

>But that only spun off one large megafig and that one cheap 12 inch statue
>Compare that to 6/7? for Aquaman
YEah, and since Aquaman bombed, they were more conservative with Superman.
These releases don't exist in a vacuum. Previous sales are going to affect future sales.

I think the fact that they were so heavy on flash was a surprise, given all the negativity surrounding that. But since it takes so long for toys to be produced and retail orders are made so far in advanced........

Can I post these here? DC was in MK

Raiden seems like a step down from Sub Zero and Scorpion. Still plan to get the single pack though.

I consider them DC adjacent as they're both Warner Bros, both made by McFarlane, and both crossed over before.

I hope they go all out with this line. They are pretty good.

Thats what I was thinking.

Sure, but you really need to stop over sharing these dumb details like where you go grocery shopping. No one asked. Just go away please, we're all sick of you.

Yeah, I understand all that, but as others have said, it's weird they made the choice for Lex, Metamorpho, Terrific, Robot #4 and a Kaiju mega but no Guy (no Lois, or Hawk GIrl, but that's very on brand for McFarlane).
I mean, given that allegedly he's going to be in every DCU property (and he has been so far), McFarlane didn't do anything with fucking Rick Flag, Senior. Not even the Super Powers they gave all the male characters except for Lex.

I don't think McFarlane has much of a choice when it comes to who they decide to make a toy out of.
It's not like they watch screenings of the movies 15 months ago when the choices on who they make into toys. IS the movie even finished at that point?

What like happens is that they're told by some movie person who the major characters are, how important they are to the movie, and their screentime, and then some exec at WB tells them that V/W/X/Y/Z needs to be made into toys, but McFarlane are allowed to decide to make a choice on who the 6th or 7th character can be made. They're then given a bunch of xeroxes or maybe webps for the characters and told to decide from there.
Since they're 15 months away out from the movie being released, maybe they didn't even have Rick Flag written in the movie yet. Or they didn't have whatshisname in Guy costume yet either.

BTW, most of this shit is how Hasbro has described how they make Star Wars movie toys. The bit about McFarlane having characters chosen for them is from an interview about the early waves for the DC line, and how out of all the figures from a certain wave, Todd was able to choose the Superman Armor from a comic (that was provided by WB, btw) to make a toy out of by himself
