I personally hate soft goods. They rarely look good on anything unless the company does it right somehow. And even when they do sometimes it clashes to me cause some clothes are still plastic. And all these super expensive toyline are doing it now too. Sometimes those even have staining issues. Sculpts just look nicer.

You're probably right about Mattel. I only really saw the Ken figure of Gosling when it shoved in his face - I think by Kimmel or Fallon? And a few similar other instances, but even just static stock photos look plastic-ky in a bad sort of way. The Robbie I actually would see at Targets so I knew it didn't really look like her, they should have done the 1950s version. But the Ken they did for Superman (Brandon Routh, no clue if they ever did Henry Cavill) and the Lois from that same line (Kate Bosworth) look almost absolutely nothing at all like the actors.

Even some of the really bad Super7 ReAction 5POA they push out are never that far apart from actual likenesses, notwithstanding all the arguments people make about rights and fees/costs, etc.

Supergirl trailer is out so theaters could have the choice to put it in front of avatar, they might as well not. There is a fine line between being for kids and being appropriate for kids. The original Golden Books and early minicomics are great because, imo, they take themselves and their stories seriously but never get to intense or objectionable. I don't want Skeletor to be a punchline and having feels...he's the Lord of Destruction.

Whereas this "Skeletor has no friends" book comes across like it going to be incredibly onions and appealing only to manchildren. Mark my words, no actual child is going to want to read it because anyone attracted to the cool monster man isn't going to want crap about friends, they will want to see some action.
And on the other end of things we see how aging up the stories lead to awful cringe like references to Skeletor's purple stick or Kevin Smith's gen x angst.

There is a difference between competency and edgelord garbage that has been the status quo for Skeletor since the 2002 version. And Jared Leto is a super edgelord type so expect him to be akin to the garbage Kevin Smith version.

Ironically, the best Skeletor has always been the Robot Chicken version. A perfect mix of camp and silliness combined with sarcasm and meta about how silly a lot of his schemes are.

That's what I was going with for the character of El-Dor, because it seemed like the kind of punny name that MOTU uses. I also wanted to re-enforce the idea that He-Man is the character's name not his superhero identity. There is no Prince Adam persona, but I did try to use He-Man, He-Ro, and She-Ra as a basis for naming conventions. All the men are some variation He, Ro, or Go with all the women (though there is only one named) would be Ra, La, Na.

In my mind it's pronounced Fay-Lah, So I might tweak the spelling to make that more overt.
Along with what I said above, part of my thought process was that if He-Man was a heroic title like Superman, it would be derived from an original tribal name that sounds like "Hehman."
When the actual story is finished I might try and tweak all the names to be more coherent. Ideally I'd like for them to follow some kind of lineage. Like they share a singular name that can move between the second and first position.

You might want to try and track down the Vintage sculpt He-Man they put out back in 2021. From what I can tell it's the same sculpt as the Turtles version but without the open toes on the right boot. Depends on whether the toe detail is something that would bother your father.

The Stranger Things 2 pack version is excellent if the different shield isn't a dealbreaker. The paint is really nice on this one and he's my main He-Man now.

The Origins Battle Armor is another good one, and if your Dad was an 80s Motu baby he probably will remember that armor on He-Man. It comes with the vintage head and should be easy to find.

I know that you're meant to pair Battle Armor He-Man and Battle Armor Skeletor, but I think Terror Claws Skeletor fits so much better. Like Skeletor has gained a great new powerful weapon and He-Man gets better defences to take Skeletor on.

They use name characters for the TF/GIJ crossover stuff because they've been trying and failing to get a shared universe thing going on between the two.
