Stuff like Knightfall Batman should have been in wave 1. Todd kept drip feeding everyone Batman figures, never quite giving anyone a basic blue and grey Batman before that point. The Year Two was the closest, but he had the Hugo Strange boots, which are wrong for the character. Knightfall was quite literally when the line started turning things around. We started getting classic outfits and demanded characters, and it started becoming worthwhile to collect. And Todd probably only did that, because he was losing the license and couldn't drip feeding people anymore.

Yep that's no lighting, that is an ugly headsculpt on the regular and a good head on the platinum. This is clearly revenge on people who backlashed against an Elite Edition Zatanna, so now we would need to spend at least $70 for a proper look, even more than the $60. Todd's cronies are making so few of these figures now that there is very little stock, and there are enough people who collect just to have a piece of plastic called "Zatanna", not because the figure looks good, is well made or high quality. They will buy it just because it says "Zatanna" on the box and that they already collect the line. If some Chinese company were to make a superior "Zatanna" in every way for $35, these people wouldn't even consider it just because it isn't in the same line.

You can tell whoever is making the decisions there now is:

1. Not Todd, because the philosophy is wildly different from his value for a fair price which he still adheres to on the comics, "reach the widest audience he can" perspective.

2. is trying to make the figures worth the most they can, almost as if they have some kind of stake in how much the figures are worth--more-so than if the figures can be enjoyed as action figures.

1. The co-founder of McFarlane Toys bought gamestop canada right before the shipment of Killing Joke Jokers and Supergirls went missing. A shipment the feds apparently gave up on, deciding some mysteries are best left unsolved. All of the shipments to gamestop Canada went through.

4. During the initial Zatanna Rebellion across social media the McFarlane Toys employees initially antagonized their customers. "Sour grapes," they said. Then we said they're all parasites making a personal profit off these products and they all immediately shut the fuck up and just put on generic smiling faces, afraid of any further scrutiny or confrontation.

The only solution is for Todd to completely clean house. Even then, any good will towards his company has been completely destroyed and we're all just watching it cling to life support.

Right off the bat these figures are fatally flawed because their main feature of posablity is basically worthless cause every part is extremely loose and falls off at the slightest touch making actually standing them near impossible. had to move them to my dad's shelf cause the slight breeze from the fan in my figure room would literally blow them over. If you had bought these 20 years ago when they first came out, or even 10 years ago, the joints on them were tight as fuck. Almost a detriment, since the clear plastic Microman figures would suddenly break on you.

Mine have loosened up, but i wouldn't call them floppy, so nothing just falls off. The rubbery hands and head have lost some of their plasticizers, so a lot of the friction and tightness has lessened.

The hard plastic parts just naturally loosen over time, so i wonder if you bought yours used.

action figures actually got me back into comics. i had dropped them for quite a long time. But some of Todd's crazy releases like White Knight Azrael made me read some books. Now it's mostly on the Marvel side though. Ironically I hated Marvel Legends in 2020 and liked Todd's output, but now it's the reverse. Todd's output without the fact that they're unique sculpts, doesn't have much. The hard, often stuck ratchet joints make them not so much of a joy to pose.

Genuinely, what caused you to change your mind? Both lines haven't really changed that much in the time DC Multiverse has been around. Sure, Todd produces less unique sculpts, but I don't put as much weight onto unique sculpts as some anons do so that doesn't matter as much to me, especially if the sculpt isn't great or the character is dumb.

Now a small sample of 2025. In 2025 it's mostly movie figures, weird repaints like Jokerized slop, or comic characters from yesteryear like Dark Archer, Nightmaster, Damage, Mirror Master, etc. Stuff only Jason and Brian would care about.

There's also some tasteless Batman variants like Western World Batman and Earth 2 Society Batman but they aren't cool or edgy.

There are however a few good looking costumes for Superman, Super Girl, Stephanie Brown, etc. sprinkled in there which I don't mind. But they aren't what made 2020 DCMV good.

The look and style of the characters made is radically different, ignoring the engineering or paint quality (although some early figures like White Knight Azrael certainly have a lot of paint). If you would buy up Death Metal figures along with guys like Mirror Master and Hourman, I would have to question whether you just love all eras of comics equally (which is very rare) or if you're a completionist. Most of the time that is what it can come down to. The IP owner (DC) has final say over what the license holder (McFarlane) can and cannot release. I know you guys goofed on me for other imaginext posts but i liked the super friends wave 1. This metal force stuff just doesnt cut the mustard for my grown man faced ass.
