Recent DCMV Preorders just dropped:
-Zatanna
-Elongated Man
-Blackhawk
-Cosmic Boy
-Professor Pyg

Recent INART preorders:
-INART The Dark Knight Rises Catwoman
-INART Batman: Arkham Origins Batman

Recent Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective preorder:
-Batman: Year One

Question: Suffering Day is now passed. Is Zatanna the end of your long road with DC Multiverse, or is there still more suffering you have laid for yourself left to come?

Should I buy 10 Zatannas just to scalp them to the fucking morons out there? Genuine question since a shop I frequent has plenty of them up for preorder. I only sold Superman Red for 80 bucks before and Wonder Woman for 90 but this could actually be another figure where I see potential to just rip off retards who are desperate for such a shit figure

I bought the Superman when these were $13 at Target and picked up the Batman (but he's still in his card back in case they don't release any more because the last thing I need is more batwank toys in my house).

But if this is true, I wouldn't be upset. The articulation is great. If I have time after the weekend, I'll take pictures and pose them with some of my DCMV's Supes so y'all can actually see.

Zatanna isn't A list, she's more like Bish. A is like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. And it has more to do with her being a female figure. If you look at MLs you'll see similar situations where Rachel or Clea or Inviz Woman (the movie figure) sell well, unless they botch the figure (comic retro card inviz woman or Bootless Jean) or they release them too often.
>>
>>11669140
Blackhawk probably will be cheap but not Max Mercury, Green Arrow, or Metamorpho bargain basement.
For one thing, Todd probably didn't make enough. And the first time it only drops down to $24, $26 (which is still too high), some of you idiots will pick it up to make Sparkle Magic Bruce Waynes.
In the meantime, you could be me and been patient and paid $8 for Guardian, NIB.

Just ordered the new Flash yesterday to replace my Dawn of DC Wally with the weird looking grin. The new one fits way more into my Grant Morrison JLA team albeit my having the orange-suited Aquaman instead of the hook hand Aquaman as well as Hal instead of Kyle

Now the only two figures I neglected to buy for several reasons are supposedly being announced in the next months (yellow-emblem Shazam and cloth-cape Martian Manhunter). If those two are actually released, I will get them. If not, I'm already done with collecting the line

Good suggestion
If I really REALLY wanted to do that, there's a good 3D modeler (https://www.instagram.com/joaoromeu_art/) who did a Sodam Yat head sculpt that someone did a simple Kit Bash paint job on a Kyle I might buy and I'd ask him to take a crack at it and give me an estimate.

But I don't think it would be hard to find something that suggests the head that anyone could do themselves. You could even make it suggest the version like Alan's portrayal from the HBO Max show just finding some random white head with light/blond hair to use.

Would this be a good base body for Midnighter? I going to use a pleather coat - either painting the one from a SW Black Series or buying it from a Chinese seller. I'd probably try to see if the Todd's Batman re-use head from his shitty version of Middy works. I already own the 'staction' from DC Direct.

And I doubt Mattel will ever do one unless Gunn really does make an Authority streaming show or movie, which I am suspicious about today. Also, Gunn has truly SHITTY costume designs so I would probably hate how it looks.

Zee is definitely B-/C+.
Being adapted on Smallville doesn't count since even hard core fans of that show don't necessarily remember some of the "fan service" that was fed to them by people like Cereal Lord.
Con Job and even Doctor Fate are better known.
But DC really needs to do a magic based movie.
I doubt Del Taco will win BP or best director for Frankenstein so Gunn really should reach out to him about doing an Elseworld magic based Justice League Dark movie before Netflix dumps more cash his way and he's once again overly busy with too many things putting his way.
And Zatanna should totally be front and center in any JLD film, and I might even bring Brosnan back by then as Fate since it would be probably about five years after Black Adam that it would be in theaters.
>>
>>11669341

This seems like it has a lot of nostalgia around it though. How did Sgt. Rock sell?

My $80 Zatanna just landed here in the states. Unless something wild happens like mailmen working for Todd's syndicate of pirates and scammers intercepts her then maybe end of next week at the latest.

Starman Jack is all that's left. If I were patient I know he'll end up on clearance but I'm ready to pay anything Chinese scalpers ask when he shows up on ebay.

I'm two away from escaping this nightmare then I can chill with a solid DC collection I'll be happy with for the rest of my life.

I bought a resin printer last week and have been drifting away from toys for a while. I'll print heads for Shade and Zatanna if necessary and tinker with dioramas but unless Todd or Mattel announce a Phantom Lady, then Jack will be my last.

Now that I'm just holding ground until this ends I can sit back and laugh at Todd botching figure after figure, like the Zatanna head and the giant seams on the doll cape that ruin the $60 Elite Spawn. I used to get antsy when Todd would do something retarded like a whole wave of Task Force figures that look horrifying and make Walmart purge their DC section of his stuff, but now it's fun just watching everything burn.

There's a box with my Zatanna getting closer to me every second I keep typing. Feels good, man.

Blackhawk got name checked a few times in the DCAU. I would have to watch it again, but I bet they are in the Justice Society WWII animated movie from the Tomorrowverse. And they even had a low selling Nu52 book.

Sargent Rock was definitely a less popular and likely more niche figure. But he was more of an option for a non-DC collector, like someone who collects military stuff or even Joe's.

Someone could pick up Captain Carrot as some near, interesting or fun thing. Who is going to want Blackhawk who is not already a niche, deep dive hardcore DC.

I mean, I'm one of those people and I just wasted $71 on the Diamond Select Composite Superman and I don't want to spend $34 for this toy.

The end of his review, exasperated at the price, and stating the figure isn't worth $35 and it's antiquated for that is the last gasp of a good old type of collector who looked for value for their dollar when buying. But given what I have seen they are overshadowed by those who keep buying at increasingly higher price points, even paying scalpers for red platinums and the like because they cannot find them. The scalpers have won, the $25 barrier is broken, those who believe domestics shouldn't be insanely expensive are being priced out. The future of action figure collecting belongs only to the whales.

On what planet was DCMV ever a better value than ML? Unique sculpts don't mean shit if they're ugly or get details wrong. It's not like they were heavy on accessories either. No second head, rarely extra hands, and forget about accessories if one of them should've been a GUN.
>>
>>11670558
Doesn't Target exist in Canada? Can't you get shipping? If you are anywhere near the border, you gotta set up some friendship situation with someone where they get you stuff that's easier or less absurdly priced in the states and you do vice versa for Canada stuff. I was often finding good deals with better prices in Canada on eBay and what killed it was still the postage.

I can see it.

Todd did one Dickbat's right? And that wasn't unmasked?

On Earth in 2021 when DCMV was 20 and ML had gone to 23. Unique sculpts are very important since that tooling is 90% of the price of a figure and half the fun of a new figure is it not just being the same shit as the last one you bought with a new head.

And no I don't give a shit about 2 cents for 2 extra hands and a baf part thats all going to get stuck in a drawer. They're as irrelevant as the trading cards and stands in DCMV. If they gave 8+ extra hands like imports you might have something worth mentioning.
>>
>>11670901
The fact its got folds and shes wearing clogs? They know. But it doesnt matter because all that matters is the headsculpt
>>
>>11670901
You act like people aren't well aware of McFarlane's scultpting fuck ups at this point. Just goes to show you people will buy whatever slop.

>>
>>11671056
But the you're not factoring in the BAF! :) (I'm joking)
>>
>>11671056
nta but plastic quality, the goddamn diaperm weird aritculations since they changed for every new sculpt unlike ML, and those awful face scupts and painting - or lack of in most cases, like your pic where Lobo's body is grey and his face is white - are the most obvious reasons why McFarlane suck. And don't get me on other cheap shit like that Lobo bike + guitar where they where both hollow and cheap looking af. Or the fact that Todd can't make a single good female face to this day. ML are worth the extra bucks, and about the hands, well, enjoy your trigger fingers.
>>
Todd should just stick to statues. He clearly doesn't know how to do articulation. What is a "posed figure" anyway? :/
>>
>>11671068
nta Legion for example really shouldn't have been on the Shangi Chi body. Legends messes up also.
>>

Im curious about the weight and quality of the statues he is doing but not so much as to actually buy one. I do have an idea though, why not try a line of model kits like aurora or whatever they were called then? Same premise of recreating a cover but you glue it and paint it instead, like those artist proofs for the short lived wh40k line.

There's no such thing as "plastic quality" in a comparison of DCMV and MLs. One is mostly hard PVC with some POM and/or ABS, and one is mostly soft PVC with some POM and/or ABS. They're both the same garbage since they're domestics. The difference is just in the hardness of the PVC in specific areas. You're not getting some weird designer plastic type here. This isn't a high end import.

No idea why they didn't use either gray plastic/gray paint for the face instead of white but it's better than the alternative figure on the right which has eyes painted on the face and that's it.

That Lobo also does not have trigger finger hands, just normal grabbing hands.

The re-release with the bike+guitar is after McFarlane went to shit, and ML got better. I'm talking 2021-2022 here.

If you actually think the figure on the right there is worth 23 while the one on the left isn't worth 20 I don't know what to tell you but the 'high quality' Marvel Legends microplastics must have made their way to your brain

Here's another example. Still no trigger finger hands, plenty of great sculpted detail, a large fully painted accessory compared to a blank blue body buck with a marbled plastic harness.

Hasbro was phoning it in with many 2021 releases, I'm telling you. They started improving again more recently. Maybe because they no longer had to blow tons of cash on huge waves of peg warming Eternals like they had to in 2021 that then harmed their ability to get future orders and thus revenue from stores.

I like how you cherry pick the ML that doesn't include accessories when you know it's only one or so figure per wave that is lacking like that. MLs are budgeted by wave so some figures that get newer sculpts, more accessories, and what not than others. Here's another Marvel Legend that came out in 2021. Did any DCMV come out with something with this many accessories at the regular price point? Dr. Strange was the standard MSRP at the time.
>>
>>11671093
The entire AoA wave was pretty bad with Shadowcat and Magneto having the most accessories but still being largely meh figures. Strange was an exclusive, not part of a wave so they could allocate whatever they needed to to assure enough sales to keep Walmart happy. He is one of the better MLs of 2021 for sure, although single jointed elbows were a strange choice.
>>
>>11671104
The AoA wave was pretty bad, I won't disagree. Same with the Eternals wave that same year. But those were hardly the standard, even back then.

Here's Magneto for example, who has some of the most accessories, two swirlies that I have probably dozens of by now due to how often they reuse them. Then an ugly headsculpt and one that at least has the helmet. Two fist hands and two open hands. Would I take this over that Death Metal Batman? No I would not. It still lacks pizzazz or the flair of art. Which ironically is what DCMV now lacks. And Marvel Legends now has in some cases, like Deathbird. Too bad she is stranded in a 2 pack with Gladiator but hostage 2 packs are nothing new.

>>11671113
How hard a plastic is has nothing to do with whether it's quality plastic or not, anon. It has to do with whether they intentionally added plasticizers to it to make it softer. It's a factory process that is done intentionally. The diapers on McFarlanes are intentionally soft so they can bend. The joints are intentionally hard for whatever reason. Meanwhile the joints on MLs are intentionally soft for again, whatever reason. It doesn't mean one is made of a higher quality plastic than the other.

I mean we can cherry pick figures all day long, but, on average, ML was giving you more bang for you buck, even back in 2021, than McFartlane.
>>
>>11671131
I wouldn't buy any of those figures, even for 10 bucks. Probably because most of them are MCU and a gimmick Ironman and GAMOR Cap.

But again we always get to these memes that "more extra hands means they give you more." But the extra hands are a cent a piece. They are worth nearly nothing. They get added in so that people will pay $50 for a Maximum Spider-man and have the illusion of value.
>>
>>11671131
more bang for your buck on garbage absolutely no one wants. you can find Mt. Shang Chi in any Ollie’s to this day
>>
>>11671140
Cool. Good thing your subjective opinion isn't what we were discussing, but bang for your buck. But whatever anon.

>>11671143
See above. I can use the Ursa Major wave as another example. Sorry, but MLs were, on average, a better deal back in 2021.
>>
>>11671147
Bang for your buck means new tooling not accessories. Because tooling is what actually costs money in toys, the #1 cost. Next is labor.
>>
>>11671148
Then why doesn't Todd include as many accessories?
>>
>>11671152
Because his idiot designers think hands have to be painted. When they don't paint them they can throw them in by the boatload like this Tim Drake figure that hand 8 hands and a wired cape somehow. There's so many nonsensical decisions at McFarlane Toys I don't think a logical mind could understand or figure them out. Like why some figures get wired capes and why others don't as well. ML everything is a monetary calculus, at Toddtown, the world is mad. He'll give you Devastator for $20 just because he can. Then he'll try to give you a card stand instead of a bunch of extra hands for no reason when they could've sold his CEs like Hasbro sold Max Spidey
>>
>>11671158
*has an extra 8 hands
>>
>>11671158
Which is why, on average, ML give you more bang for your buck. We're talking in circles at this point.
>>
>>11671158
Are those the Ridder hands?
>>
>>11671160
Not in 2021-2022. Now when McFart CEs are full of shitty reused blank buck molds with just enough sculpted detail to taunt you, letting you know what figure they are reused from for $35, sure. If I see those fucking Catwoman legs ONE MORE TIME
>>
>>11671169
Pretty sure they are. Why they didn't just throw them in with a ton of other bucks they fit with, I don't know. They have the tooling so it'd-- as people say-- cost pennies to just buy the plastic and throw them in to give the illusion people are getting more.

nta but Ursa wave was rather underwhelming except Ultron. Just a bunch of Iron Man palette swaps and a barely painted standard female body buck. I'd say there's even a lot of better McFarlanes for a $20 unless you really LOVE Ironman. Though the Ultron figure gives McFarlane a run for his money. This is still at the same Burlington in DTLA, where I first saw it, and I think posted a snap here, from last November, near the import shop I go to only in the winter when I am look for holiday gifts for people who want weird import shit I have no clue about.

If Fondjoy really is going to discontinue making DC, I wanted to see what the Pattinson unmasked heads looked like in hand to decide if it was worth chasing that down but they didn't have that in stock. Pretty sure that gossip is correct because when I asked if they were going to get restocked, the best answer I got was "probably not."

The Gong Superman looked good. Too beefy for my taste but I can see why people would like him.

Why don't we talk about the Play Arts Kai or Amazing Yamaguchi DC action figures here? I always liked the AY Nu52 Superman head sculpt years ago after I saw that in a store, especially with what Todd was shoving down the throats of collectors as Supes head sculpts, but the rest of that body isn't my speed.

But the Nightwing looked really beautiful. I don't like spending more than I absolutely need to on Batwank adjacent figures, but if I collected that crap, I would have picked this up.

Yeah, the face and hair do scream "JAPAN" but the figure can be put into a lot of great poses. It also just felt really fun to play with and I can't think of the last time Todd Slop made me feel that way holding it in my hands.

And while I loathe the pscyho clown bitch, I can understand why people would buy their Isekai. It looked exactly like something those people would jizz on.

Which logically brings up this anon's question:
>>11671152
>include as many accessories
If hands are a penny or just a few cents, why not include them, Toddfan?

Tossing in and even tapeing the hands can be mechanized. The cards need to be printed separately and inserted separately to be protected, just like the display base, or they need to be secured in the clamshell as if they were actually valuable and collectible. Even if that can also be mechanized, it also requires higher QC time expenditures, just like positioning the actual figure does. At minimum, it gets a visual inspection of each box whereas the hands would barely merit an extra or second/additional glance.

So take Todd's teeny peen out of your mouth for two minutes and explain.

Im not judging anyone who is anxious to own Todd's Hottest new figure of his final year as a license holder to produce figure of the DC properties! My $80 Zatanna is in my city and might arrive tomorrow, or definitely Monday.
Hush Batman was delayed for like six months. Multiple Steel preorders were cancelled. All of my Power Girl preorders were cancelled. I ordered multiple sets of the Batman Returns wave through multiple retailers, all cancelled.

I'm looking over at my shelf and trying to see if any of the 50-ish McFarlanes were successful preorders and I can't recall any of them being fulfilled, maybe the resident stalker who's been big gay for me for the last couple years remembers me talking in amazement about an order being filled.

Some humble factory worker in China was able to lock in a Zatanna, one of the two figures I never shut the fuck up about, and in less than 48 hours get it into the states. He was able to get it out of China before the preorders even went up. It takes USPS longer to get to my patio than it does for a single chinaman to pitter patter across the bamboo forests overnight and kung fu kick a package onto a plane. We might go to war with them someday but I fucking love the Chinese and have faith in the essential decency and autism of our cultures prevailing.

If the Chinaman who sold me a Zatanna lists a Starman Jack I'll pay whatever he wants. I'm following his shop and have a ebay crush on him now. The tracking info just says Mainland China so I'll probably never even know where he lives or his real name, he's just some anonymous hero out there doing the right thing to feed his family.

You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. Youre fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and thats just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little clever comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldnt, you didnt, and now youre paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. Youre fucking dead, kiddo.

This Wonder Woman is literally better than Mattel's old DC Comics Multiverse. It has butterfly joints and a better sculpt.

The new GL figures are always funny since it looks like they're wearing the sweater their grandmother knitted for them. I can't buy or take any of these figures seriously.
>>
>>11672799
... How many Hals do we need?
>>
>>11672813
1 I'd say, which is why them releasing so many is weird. But they are counting on people buying one look, then seeing a later headsculpt or slight difference and wanting that instead and so double dipping. And they are counting on wanting GL to be a sort of ever green character as well so people who just happen upon the line grab one. Which is pretty weird to think about for a line that has 1 year left to run but they probably didn't know that when they started design work on this figure.
>>
>>11672813
A few more than the number of Batmans that have been produced. Or atleast until we get a wild west themed or death metal version.
>>
>>11672839
Was Hal even in Death Metal? I know there was Bruce from Earth-Whatever as GL, but no idea about Hal
>>
>>11672838
And GL doesn't really seem to have any current tie in media. Except maybe the Gunn version, which is a bit different.
>>
>>11672838
Characters like green latern should be ever green or atleast in a regular rotation, but its kinda like the flash where there isnt too much change to their costumes.

It only fits the small Sonic characters, the ones that come in the blind bags or two packs, so IF someone did want it, only say a tiny page puncher 3" Todd slop could be placed inside.

>>11672709
Death Metal? There's a joker blind bag but not any of the batgod that kek keks. I think all of these toys, plushies, pops, etc. are all based on that six issue cross-over comic.
>>
>>11672962

The Batgod is Barbatos who was never made. The Batman who Keks however was made 5+ times.

>>
>>11672799
I don't understand the head sculpt, it looks nothing like the comic it's based off. Isn't that the whole point of PAGE PUNCHERS? To make figures based off comic books. Where's his iconic hair swoop? Where's his handsome pretty boy headsculpt? It honestly just looks like a random middle aged man or some off brand Ryan Reynolds tie in figure.
>>
>>11673042
Happy to see Mcfarlane has started to add visible bulges on figures, it's just too bad it was for Jessica Cruz.
>>
>>11672841
Hal was imprisoned with the bulk of the heroes in Apokalips Batman's prison, having been captured during the initial assault alongside by TBWL's army. He never got a special Death Metal outfit.
>>
>>11672922
DAMMIT.
>>
>>11673070
Is this because the character would have been totally OP during the event?
>>
>>11673126
They've shifted from pushing Hal as the main GL on earth and gave that role to Jon Stewart.
>>
>>11672987
People don't read comics in this patio, friend.

Also, all Batmans are Bat-Gods. Only Scott cares about such specifics. Give it a decade and only comic book nerds will remember Metal.
>>
McFarlane figures are too big, the steel tooling to make them must be significantly larger than 6 inch. If they were smaller, the line likely would've lasted longer.

Can I post Lego Batman here or do I need my own thread?
>>
>>11673362
>if anything, he should be the variant, not jessica cruz.
If Todd didn't buy his own stupidity that females won't sell - and especially if he didn't use to buttress his nonsense that his awful own redesign of Wonder Woman wasn't why it didn't sell but that she was an female figure being the cause, as just one example he trots out, Hal would have been the plat.
>>
>>11673376
It's a GEN - you should be able to. You will probably get more pertinent and less rude conversation - this is "dickish DC Patio Gen" after all - if you make your own thread.

That said, I would still come back here and make a post pointing/linking to said thread. Also, this thread will die by tomorrow morning if not sooner.
>>
>>11673381
I think its more a site problem than a patio problem. People want to be jerks and given the anonymous nature of posting they can be.
Im all for seeing anything other than just stock photos of Mcfarlanes, im ok with posting stuff not made by mcfarlane but it seems like multiverse is the main concern here.

Just a few more hours and Zatanna will be on my shelf. She and Wonder Woman were the most expensive but still not entirely unreasonable as a special treat once per year kind of thing. At least I'm not a hardcore completionist who loves the Teen Titans or needs every version of the Spectre ever made.

It's over. Zatanna was the last figure I knew would be a pain in the ass to get. Nobody cares about Starman Jack so I'll probably end up seeing him pegwarm in the wild.

It's over. The mailman just has to drop her off and it's finally over.
>>
>>11673855
Zatanna is $35
>>
>>11673879
Not anymore. She's sold out everywhere. ebay is all that is left her.
>>
>>11673855
The only reason that figure can go for $500 or even anywhere near that is because there are humans out there who have gone insane. Any mentally well person would browse right past such a price for such a product. A well adjusted person would get more joy of donating the $500 to a food bank than having the lifeless eyes of that Beast Boy staring at them every day.
>>
>>11672903
Yes, which was kind of hilarious in that Mattel never made a Parallax Hal, not even for their Sub Club even though DC Direct made him for their GL Rebirth line in the early 2000s. Made even more funny in that until Todd put out Silver Age Hal and New 52 Hal as a stand alone release, Parallax was the only stand alone version of Hal you could get for several years due to Todd locking New 52 Hal in a two pack with Dark Multiverse Batman as Green Lantern.
>>
>>

>>
>>11673888
Considering most beastboy listings have been up for months you're just yelling at clouds, nobody is actually buying these and just like the page punchers Shazam and spectre hal Jordan figs they will continue to rot away unsold.
>>

If they film the sequel there I'll definitely visit again and get better toy pics on set

I'm Maximum Effort OP and he's actually replied to me at least twice over the past two years with a helpful suggestion or answer.

But the relentless and obvious (you) farming behavior and other similar problems are what put people off.

You cannot praise your dog for not shitting inside your house when almost every dog grows up getting potty trained - not when the dog is also tearing up the bathroom to get to the toilet paper before everyone else; bitting the postman when he approaches the mailbox; barking all night or howling every time someone comes near the front door (particularly holding a female or JSA action figure, apparently).

It's behavior that drives even the most congenial dog owners insane. Especially if you've tried to retrain the dog and it still engages in the bad behaviors.

You just send it back to the pound or shelter, reminding the beast to believe itself lucky that you don't consider a shotgun the answer like some overly botoxed woman would.
