>>11660527>The only thing I can decided on is that I don't want both. So I've ended up with neither. That was me with Convoy, I wanted toy deco but didn't want another trailer
>>11660532thank you for an insightful and thorough answer.it does kinda seem like every body part of old toys was at least two parts, so you could press their two hollow sides together, and then glue.. but then again, articulation was way worse, so meh
>>11660530>What are /tfg/'s picks for best transforming robot toys of 2025?I don't about my top top pick, but Megatronus is up thereHe really impressed me when I first got him in hand. The way he looks and moves is just really cool
>>11660530adding more articulation to these body proportions actually starts to become a little uncanny.like a silly straight-pegs robot leg is something we're just used to, but you add knees and ankles to it and now like whaaaat.the head has a plate behind it but it can still pose...
>>11660538>the head has a plate behind it but it can still pose...Same with Cordon and Sunstreaker - the plate is attached to the back of the head like on the original toy, but the head itself uses a ball joint now instead of a simple hinge, so the head (with plate attached) can now turn and even look up and down a bit.
>>11660546yeah. it's just... I'm glad it exists, and it's a ton of people's thing, but to me it's downright weiiird. At least when like, when they did high-end high-detail posable kits of old zoids, they still kinda did some upgrading, so it wasn't just the same old spindly weird robot parts but now with joints.
>>11660554Well, the whole point of Missing Link is "What if the original 80's toys had modern articulation?". It wasn't about making the old toys look better - we have modern figures for that - it was about keeping the looks of the original toys while making them into less of a brick. This is ultimately a nostalgia line - the head plates, spindly limbs, and overall janky proportions are there because that's what the now-40-year-old toys looked like when they first hit toy shelves way back when. All that's been changed is that they now have modern articulation.
>>11660559indeed. I get it. It's just weird.I can't wait til they get to missing links of beast wars guys, because I have strong attachments to those toys and I feel like they hold up a lot better
>>11660566Why bother with remakes if the original holds up?.
>>11660530>What are /tfg/'s picks for best transforming robot toys of 2025?My #1 transforming robot this year wasn’t a Transformer *cough*Metal Cardbot*cough* but the best Transformer I bought was definitely Haslab Deathsaurus. In fact he's the best Transformer I've bought in years, probably since MP Inferno.
>>11660568>>11660530My top 10 is:1. Haslab Deathsaurus2. AOTP The Fallen3. SS86 Megatron4. AOTP Star Convoy5. SS86 Long Haul6. AOTP Venom7. SS86 Galvatron8. T-Spark Lio Convoy9. SDCC Jetfire10. AOTP Sky-Byte
>>11660567they still have a few missing joints that hold them backit'd be nice if inferno had wrist swivels (or even better, ball joints) and wasn't always 'cmawwwwn ova heah' with his hands. and also could aim the ant head gun properlyBonecrusher and Jetstorm would be a lot cooler if you could more manually position their kibble, instead of being stuck in one awkward orientation.Spittor would be improved by being able to actually position his frog legs as convincing arms, etc.
>>11660571>Bonecrusher and Jetstorm>Non-show BW guysI feel like the line would be kaput before that.
>>11660584well yeah but this is obviously cloud talk. Nothing's gonna happen.. nothing good anyway
>>11660530>What are /tfg/'s picks for best transforming robot toys of 2025?The only new bot I picked up all year was Seaspray. He's okay, I guess.
>>11660627His feet are the silliest feeling thing to me. He has boatshoes that compress into boatshoes.
>>11660534Anime Edition doesn't come with a trailer, anon.
>>11660675My bad, anon!>Reading comprehension
>>11660676in fairness, if I hear 'i don't need another trailer' I don't assume that to mean anything but 'because i have one of the same mold already'otherwise if I was into optimus, I would absolutely want at least one moldmate per mold to have it
I like how every Haslab release is plagued with something that breaks and people STILL pay regardless. You get what you tolerate and deserve I guess.
>>11660700I really hope Hasbro starts switching to more MTOs in the future instead of Haslabs. It makes it easier to reissue, doesn’t have to build up support, and doesn’t require Hasbro to add a bunch of random exclusive tiers
>>11660704Won't it still be more expensive because they make less?
>>11660705You're paying for quality
>>11660530We already have a thread bitch tits
>>11660729Put /tfg/ in the title or filters can't pick it up
>>11660729wasn't linked in the old thread nor did it have the right title. Also no limits of any kind were reached yet. Spam the other one by all means however, it won't matter after a week or two and we will all be on to the next thing.
>>11660700Come on now, only 50% of Haslab have had major issues.>>11660704I’ll be surprised if we don’t start seeing MTO’s. The seem to be doing alright for Marvel Legends.
>>11660705It’d be more expensive than a regular figure, but it’d probably be less than the current Haslabs. The MTO Arctic HISS tank is $100 less than the Haslab HISS tank>>11660781It seems that there’s a more positive reception overall to the MTOs from what I’ve seen
>>11660801>The MTO Arctic HISS tank is $100 less than the Haslab HISS tankI think it also has the electronics stripped out
>>11660801>>11660802That and it's 3 figures less.
Finally, the gang's all here
>>11660568>My #1 transforming robot this year wasn’t a Transformeryeah, given how unappealing I found most retail TFs to be this year, picrel probably would have been my favorite, but he got delayed 'til February. I was going to say Missing Link Prime, but I forgot he was already well over a year ago, christ.
>>11660853Action Toys? Can't say I'm familiarSpeaking of Brave, I've now opened Toyrise Exkaiser. He's a pretty solid deluxe, if on the smaller end. As the comparison with AotP deluxes should showI'd say perfectly doable as a Hasbro release but there might be a few too many paint apps and screws
>>11660836Airazor?
>>11660889Who?
>>11660802>>11660830I think that’s a somewhat fair trade for $100 less and not having to worry about it hitting a certain number of backers>>11660889No MP toy yet
>>11660853>how unappealing I found most retail TFs to be this yearYeah, most of the 13 primes look way too generic and boing, even the centaur one has a shitty deco, only the partsforming guy and megatronus look cool
>>11660888I'd get Exkaiser if importing it didn't cost so much. Tariffs just fucked his prices.
>>11660627Probably onyx or star convoy Ss86 mega alt mode is so ass it ruins the rest of the figure
>>11660888>Action Toys? Can't say I'm familiarThe listing itself says "Action Gokin". I don't have much experience, but I've only heard good stuff about "Gokin" adjacent toys. The main complaints seem to be that they're expensive as shit, but most collectors seem to think they're worth it. With mainline TF prices on the rise, and them getting cheeky and charging $40+ for any heap of yellowing plastic they feel like calling a "voyager", suddenly paying $100-200 for a gokin or a missing link starts to seem less ridiuclous.Anyway, I hope Delta Magnus is good. He's the only official TF purchase I'm planning on over the next year. I'd love to get a nice smattering of carbots to load his trailer up with. I wonder how deep they're planning to go with Missing Link.
>>11660901Thankfully I'm not a burger so I don't get slapped quite as hard by extra feesBut its titan price for a commander toy>>11660922Okay neatML I've been very... cagey(?) aboutI don't really want ones I've already got G1 versions of, so I've skipped everything so far except Arcee The ML rumor mill is something I'm keeping a bit of an eye on.If things like Grimlock or Wheeljack are coming I'll jump on those in a second
>>11660853>>11660568>My #1 transforming robot this year wasn’t a TransformerSame, but that's mostly because this is my favorite robot design ever. As far as fun to handle toys go, S86 Devastator or SS86 Megatron are better.
>>11660922>but I've only heard good stuff about "Gokin" adjacent toys. It's the Japanese term for diecast toys, multiple companies use it for their branding. Doesn't really mean anything. Action Toys, though is an ex-3P TF company (Fansproject/Maketoys) so they tend to be veer closer to TF design-sense, like making fully transforming toys instead of relying on substitute parts for fixing the proportions.
>>11660924>I don't really want ones I've already got G1 versions of, so I've skipped everything so far except ArceeThat's a respectable take. I never really owned a lot of G1 so this is a good opportunity for me. All I have so far is Prime himself, but goddamn his overall quality is just fantastic, and he's a good toy to play with because the original G1 was a good toy to play with. If they can maintain QC at this standard, I'll happily buy more in the future.
How well do you think Arcee fits in with the other season three abominations?
>>11660933>It's the Japanese term for diecast toys, multiple companies use it for their branding. Ah, well that's good to know, thanks.>like making fully transforming toys instead of relying on substitute parts for fixing the proportionsYeah, that was what attracted me to J Decker. It seems to include optional parts for a cleaner, more model-like appearance, but everything can transform and combine without them, too. They've already got a Duke Fire in the works for the inevitable Fire J-Decker combo.
What manner of autism is this?
>>11660942Perfecly fine. You can tell she was designed back them, has the same level of weirdness and jank.
>>11660942It's crazy how simple Hot Rod is yet he ends being the best of that whole bunch by no small margin
